  • Which open source/free CMSs allow for staging content changes before putting live?

    I'm not sure that I've phrased the question all that well. What I'm really looking for is a feature of CMSs where content changes are made on a restricted access 'staging/preview' site, before being published to the live external site. The open source/free CMSs I've looked at so far (Textpattern, WordPress, Movable Type) don't seem to allow this, as far as I can see. Although they allow new content to be saved as draft/pending, viewable by users with appropriate privileges, this doesn't work with changes to existing content -- a post/page can't be live and also have a new version pending. (Do correct me if I'm wrong). I realise it should be possible to do this by making all changes on a staging site, and then replicating the contents of that database to a separate live site manually, but am looking for something a little more elegant. Edit: Just to clarify, both systems which involve synchronising a live database with a staging database systems which offer live/staging views of a single database would be of interest. Am sure I have seen both approaches in commercial/proprietary CMSs.

    Hi Experts, What i am trying to achieve here is a bit tricky. Let me brief on a little background first before going ahead. I am aware that we can use a enum as a type to a parameter of a method. For example I can do something like this (a very basic example) namespace Test { class DefineEnums { public enum MyEnum { value1 = 0, value2 = 1 } } class UseEnums { public void UseDefinedEnums(DefineEnums.MyEnum _enum) { //Any code here. } public void Test() { // "value1" comes here with the intellisense. UseDefinedEnums(DefineEnums.MyEnum.value1); } } } What i need to do is create a dynamic Enum and use that as type in place of DefineEnums.MyEnum mentioned above. I tried the following. 1. Used a method which i got from the net to create a dynamic enum from a list of strings.   • Lost files after installing Ubuntu

    I installed Ubuntu on my laptop over windows, I had 2 partitions on one hard disk. It seems like my second partition is gone with all my files. How can I recover the old files? They weren't on the same partition as Windows.   • Hide icons encrypted file system partitions in Nautilus

    I've installed Ubuntu 10.04 from the alternate CD. It has an encrypted root and swap partition. The root partition is visible in Nautilus as 'File Syste' icon. There is another icon "216 GB Filesystem". If I click it says: Unable to mount 216 GB Filesystem. /dev/mapper/sda5_crypt is mounted. Then there is another icon "6.1 GB Swap Space". If I click it it says: Unable to mount 6.1 GB Swap Space. Not a mountable file system. How can I hide these last two icons?   • Swig typecast to derived class?

    I notice that Swig provides a whole host of functions to allow for typecasting objects to their parent classes. However, in C++ one can produce a function like the following: A * getAnObject() { if(someBoolean) return (A *) new B; else return (A *) new C; } Where "A" is the parent of classes "B" and "C". One can then typecast the pointer returned into being a "B" type or "C" type at one's convenience like: B * some_var = (B *) getAnObject(); Is there some way I can typecast an object I've received from a generic-pointer-producing function at run-time in the scripting language using the wrappers? (In my case, Lua?) I have a function that could produce one of about a hundred possible classes, and I'd like to avoid writing an enormous switch structure that I'd have to maintain in C++. At the point where I receive the generic pointer, I also have a string representation of the data type I'd like to cast it to. Any thoughts? Thanks! -- EDIT -- I notice that SWIG offers to generate copy constructors for all of my classes.   • howto distinguish composition and self-typing use-cases

    Scala has two instruments for expressing object composition: original self-type concept and well known trivial composition. I'm curios what situations I should use which in. There are obvious differences in their applicability. Self-type requires you to use traits. Object composition allows you to change extensions on run-time with var declaration. Leaving technical details behind I can figure two indicators to help with classification of use cases. If some object used as combinator for a complex structure such as tree or just have several similar typed parts (1 car to 4 wheels relation) than it should use composition. There is extreme opposite use case. Lets assume one trait become too big to clearly observe it and it got split. It is quite natural that you should use self-types for this case. That rules are not absolute. You may do extra work to convert code between this techniques. e.g. you may replace 4 wheels composition with self-typing over Product4. You may use Cake[T <: MyType] {part : MyType} instead of Cake { this : MyType => } for cake pattern dependencies. But both cases seem counterintuitive and give you extra work. There are plenty of boundary use cases although. One-to-one relations is very hard to decide with. Is there any simple rule to decide what kind of technique is preferable? self-type makes you classes abstract, composition makes your code verbose. self-type gives your problems with blending namespaces and also gives you extra typing for free (you got not just a cocktail of two elements but gasoline-motor oil cocktail known as a petrol bomb). How can I choose between them? What hints are there? Update: Let us discuss the following example: Adapter pattern. What benefits it has with both selt-typing and composition approaches?

The compiler complains of a type mismatch and it appears to me that the problem is due to the path-dependent class. I like to be able to use quoted with a parser obtained from this class or some other class. How can I do that?

    Hi, I have situation in with I stucked and don't know way out. The problem is in my bigger model, but I have made small example which shows the same problem. I have 4 tables. I called them SuperParent, NamedParent, TypedParent and ParentType. NamedParent and TypedParent derives from superParent. TypedParent has one to many association with ParentType. I describe mapping for entities using queryView. The problem is then I want to get TypedParents and Include ParentType I get the following exception: An error occurred while preparing the command definition.     I have a WPF VB.NET project in Visual Studio 2008. For some reason, Visual Studio thinks that it needs to add an Imports MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins to every auto-generated XAML partial class (= the nameOfXamlFile.g.vb files), resulting in the following warning: warning BC40056: Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases. I can remove the Imports line, but, since this is an auto-generated file, it reappears every time that the project is rebuilt. This warning message is annoying and clutters my error list. Is ther something that can be done about it? Or is it a known bug?

    Late last week I upgraded CC.NET locally and on the build server. The build server is still fine, but locally I am now getting the following error: Exception Details: Exortech.NetReflector.NetReflectorTypeLoadException: Unable to load types from assembly System.ServiceModel, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089: Failed to load 1 of the 3612 types defined in the assembly. Exceptions: - Unable to load type: System.Security.Authentication.ExtendedProtection.ChannelBinding Exception: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'System.Security.Authentication.ExtendedProtection.ChannelBinding' from assembly 'System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. I'm afraid this started after a batch of Windows updates this morning. I had another two updates that won't run, 979909 and 982168 (I had an update that wouldn't run last month). Anyone else having any issues? Thanks!

    I am attempting to create a strongly typed view with a "MVC View User Control" that is being rendered using Html.RenderPartial(). The top of my ascx file looks like this: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.Collections.IEnumerable<string>>" %> There is nothing else on this page, currently. When I execute the app and load the page that renders this control, I get the following error: Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.Collections.IEnumerable<string>>'. So, then I simplified it: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<String>" %> And then, just in case it needed to be fully qualified: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.String>" %> Everytime I get the same error (substituting type). what am I doing wrong here? I'm on .NET 3.5 with ASP.NET MVC 1.0 RTM.

  • Error creating System.Type from string "System.Int32"

    On a web site I published (pre-compiled) last night, I get the following error. Before pre-compiling it, I was getting a compiler error that a User Control was not found. After compiling on another machine, and running, I get the following Parser error: "Cannot create an object of type 'System.Type' from its srting representation 'System.Int32' for the 'DataType' property" was the, now runtime, parser error I got. The offending tag is telerik:RadNumericTextBox .... DataType="System.Int32"... I emphasise again that this error only occurs on XP SP2, not on Vista and Win7. I'm off to do some Googling and issue logging at Telerik.
