• Problem with thumbnails after newly added - PHP on-the-fly method

  Hey again... to those that may have read my previous question that got solved a couple minutes ago .< The on-the-fly php script works perfectly, but when I went to upload new images into a gallery which I made myself, the images are resized to 150 x 150 for what I wanted... however, when it comes to new images being added it is all black... As you can see the three black images that were uploaded to the folder and the directory added to the database. What is causing this? If I view the source, the code is fine... the while loop in the PHP generates an output like this: <div class="view-wrap" id="photo-10"> <div class="view-icon"> <div class="img-label"> <a href="#" id="10" class="delete"><img src="img/small-delete.png" /> Delete</a> </div> <a href="img/events/Paintballing/24251_1395408043148_1170626626_1204038_5382765_n.jpg"> <img src="image.php?dir=img/events/Paintballing/24251_1395408043148_1170626626_1204038_5382765_n.jpg" alt="" width="110" height="110" /> </a> </div> </div> An example of one block. If I view the source (in Firefox) and click on the image.php?dir=img/events/Paintballing/24251_1395408043148_1170626626_1204038_5382765_n.jpg by exmaple, I can see the thumbnail at it's 150 x 150 size but in the layout, it shows a black thumbnail... Does anyone know why this is happening?

• Cleaner way of using modulus for columns

  I currently have a list (<ul>) of people that I have divided up into two columns. • Performance of a get unique elements/group by operation on an IEnumerable<T>.

  I was wondering how could I improve the performance of the following code: public class MyObject { public int Year { get; set; } } //In my case I have 30000 IEnumerable<MyObject> data = MethodThatReturnsManyMyObjects(); var groupedByYear = data.GroupBy(x => x.Year); //Here is the where it takes around 5 seconds foreach (var group in groupedByYear) //do something here. The idea is to get a set of objects with unique year values. In my scenario there are only 6 years included in the 30000 items in the list so the foreach loop will be executed 6 times only. So we have many items needing to be grouped in a few groups. Using the .Distinct() with an explicit IEqualityComparer would be an alternative but somehow I feel that it wont make any difference. I can understand if 30000 items is too much and that i should be happy with the 5 seconds I get, but I was wondering if the above can be imporved performance wise. Thanks.

• Excel 2010 VBA code is stuck when UserForm is shown

  I've created a UserForm as a progress indicator while a web query (using InternetExplorer object) runs in the background. The code gets triggered as shown below. The progress indicator form is called 'Progerss'. I also see that the range of cells in column A gets cleared which tells me that the vbModeless is doing what I want. But then, somewhere within the GetWebData() procedure, things get hung up. As soon as I manually destroy the progress indicator form, the GetWebData() routine finishes and I see the correct results. But if I leave the progress indicator visible, things just get stuck indefinitely. The code below shows what GetWebData() is doing.   Well I do not know if I used the exact term. I tried to find an answer on the net. Here is what i need: I have a vector a = 1 4 7 2 5 8 3 6 9 If I do a(4) the value is 4. So it is reading first column top to buttom then continuing to next .... I don't know why. However, What I need is to call it using two indices. As row and column: a(3,2)= 4 or even better if i can call it in the following way: a{3}(2)=4 What is this process really called (want to learn) and how to perform in matlab. I thought of a loop. • How to sum up a fetched result's number property based on the object's category?

  I have a NSFetchRequest that is returning all my saved objects (call them Items) and storing them in an NSMutableArray. Each of these Items have a category, an amount, and some other properties. My goal is to check the category of each Item and store the sum of the amounts for objects of the same category. So if I had these Items: Red; 10.00 Blue; 20.00 Green; 5.00 Red; 5.00 Green; 15.00 then I would have an array or other type of container than has: Red; 15.00 Blue; 20.00 Green; 20.00 What would be the best way to organize the data in such a manner? I was going to create a object class (call it Totals) that just has the category and amount. As I traverse through the fetch results in a for-loop, add Items with the same category in a Totals object an store them in a NSMutableArray. The problem I ran into with that is that I'm not sure how to check if an array contains a Totals object with a specific property. Specifically, a category that already exists. So if 'Red' exists, add the amount to it, otherwise create a new Totals object with category 'Red' and a the first Item's amount. Thanks.

• PHP Notice: Undefined index when looping array...

  Hi, I'm looping a two-dimensional array like this: if (!empty($aka)) { foreach ($aka as $ak) { if($ak["lang"]=="es") { $sptitle=$ak["title"]; } } } Pretty simple. If the array ($aka) is not empty I loop trough it and when it finds that the "lang" index is equal to "es" I just save the "title" value for that index in $sptitle. The problem is that the array ($aka) contains a lot of information and sometimes there is no "lang" index... and I get this error: Notice: Undefined index: lang. How can I fix this??? This is a extract of the array to help you understand. If the device/emulator is already in landscape mode before testing begins, this test passes. If in portrait, it fails with a NullPointerException on mListFragment and mDetailFragment. Adding a delay (waitForIdleSync() and/or waitForActivity()) did NOT seem to solve my problem. How do i force the orientation to landscape in my test, while still being able to find the fragments using findFragmentById()?

• Canvas Check before submission

  I have a page where a user can draw on the canvas and save the image to a file on the server. The canvas has a default black background. Is there a way to check if the user has drawn anything on the canvas before submitting the data URL representation of the image of a canvas with the toDataURL() function? So if the user doesn't draw anything on the canvas(it will be a blank canvas with a black background), the image wont be created on the server. Should I loop through each and every pixel of the canvas to determine this? • How do you use indent in vim for web development?

  I'm starting to use Linux and Vim at work. I'm starting to read vims documentation and creating my own .vimrc file and such. I'm a web developer working with HTML, XML, CSS, JS, Python, PHP, ZPT, DTML and SQL. I would like to have an indent feature like this one: for each language/set, a corresponding indent solution. So, in js, writing function test(){|} would turn in function test(){ | } If php, writing <?php function test(){|}: <?php function test(){ | } <?php> ...and such. Writing a function definition in Python, and then creating a for loop sentece, it would automatically create an indent. I'm starting with autoindent, smartindent, cindent but I'm a little confused about their differences. How do the indent in vim works? Am I supposed to download plugins for each language? Is the behavior I described possible with already existing plugins you're used to or do I have to create it? I keep seeing people using Vim and I'm trying to do this as well since the machine I'm using is too limited, but I'm afraid I won't be able to have a decent auto indenting solution in it. (I have used autoindenting in a little small project in Visual Studio, and really liked their approach. Is there a plugin for that?)

• Understanding Async Concept in WebServices

  I've had the thrill recently of developing web service applications. Most of my experience is with GWT and mainly doing most things on the client side then doing an async call back for any additional data needed. However at the moment, I want a process that will be triggered on the client side, then on the server side, a loop will occur, where if a certain condition is met, it will 'push' back to the client. This will hopefully remove the processor usage on the client side and also saves bandwidth. What is this called? I understand 'polling' is where the client side continuously hits a server, however what I want is the opposite. Is this possible? Am I misunderstanding what happened when I trigger an AsyncService in GWT? Please advise. EDIT: Just for further clarification: Having some kind of weather data service. Where, you trigger 'go' on the client side, then on the server side, it checks to see the degrees, if it has moved since last time, it will spit back the degrees to the client, if it hasn't, it will keep looping.

• how do I best create a set of list classes to match my business objects

  I'm a bit fuzzy on the best way to solve the problem of needing a list for each of my business objects that implements some overridden functions. Here's the setup: I have a baseObject that sets up database, and has its proper Dispose() method All my other business objects inherit from it, and if necessary, override Dispose() Some of these classes also contain arrays (lists) of other objects. So I create a class that holds a List of these. I'm aware I could just use the generic List, but that doesn't let me add extra features like Dispose() so it will loop through and clean up. So if I had objects called User, Project and Schedule, I would create UserList, ProjectList, ScheduleList. In the past, I have simply had these inherit from List< with the appropriate class named and then written the pile of common functions I wanted it to have, like Dispose(). this meant I would verify by hand, that each of these List classes had the same set of methods. Some of these classes had pretty simple versions of these methods that could have been inherited from a base list class. I could write an interface, to force me to ensure that each of my List classes has the same functions, but interfaces don't let me write common base functions that SOME of the lists might override. I had tried to write a baseObjectList that inherited from List, and then make my other Lists inherit from that, but there are issues with that (which is really why I came here). One of which was trying to use the Find() method with a predicate. I've simplified the problem down to just a discussion of Dispose() method on the list that loops through and disposes its contents, but in reality, I have several other common functions that I want all my lists to have. What's the best practice to solve this organizational matter?

The current trouble is that the compiler doesn't like my enum usage when trying to use the new data type as I would other data types. • SQL Server job (stored proc) trace

  Hi Friends, I need your suggestion on tracing the issue. We are running data load jobs at early morning and loading the data from Excel file into SQL Server 2005 db. When job runs on production server, many times it takes 2 to 3 hours to complete the tasks. We could drill down to one job step which is taking 99% of the total time to finish. While running the job step (stored procs) on staging environment (with the same production database restored) takes 9 to 10 minutes, the same takes hours on production server when it run at early morning as part of job. The production server always stuck up at the very job step. I would like to run trace on the very job step (around 10 stored procs run for each user in while loop within the job step) and collect the info to figure out the issue. What are the ways available in SQL Server 2005 to achieve the same? I want to run the trace only for these SPs and not for certain period time period on production server, as trace give lots of information and it becomes very difficult for me (as not being DBA) to analyze that much of trace information and figure out the issue. So I want to collect info about specific SPs only. Let me know what you suggest. Appreciate your time and help. Thanks.

I would like to create instances of a class containing a list that's empty by default; instead of later setting this list to the final full list I would like to successively add items to it. Here's a piece of sample code illustrating this: #!/usr/bin/python class test: def __init__(self, lst=[], intg=0): self.lista = lst self.integer = intg name_dict = {} counter = 0 for name in ('Anne', 'Leo', 'Suzy'): counter += 1 name_dict[name] = test() name_dict[name].integer += 1 name_dict[name].lista.append(counter) print name, name_dict[name].integer, name_dict[name].lista When I ran the above program I expected to get Anne 1 [1] Leo 1 [2] Suzy 1 [3] as I assumed lista to always be initialised to an empty list. What I got instead was this: Anne 1 [1] Leo 1 [1, 2] Suzy 1 [1, 2, 3] If I replace self.lista = lst by self.lista = [] it works fine, just like when I add the line name_dict[name].lista = [] to the for loop. Why is it that the contents of the previous objects' lists are retained, yet their values of integer aren't? I am rather new to Python, so it would be great if someone could point out to me where my thoughts/assumptions have gone astray. Thanks a lot in advance for your replies.

• Stage shifts when using addChild?

  I'm having a very odd bug with ActionScript 3 in Flash CS4. I am adding movie clips to a stage in a for loop and then moving them out of view so that I can pull them in and remove them when I need them. I've narrowed down the issue to a point that I know that every time one of the movie clips are added to the stage using addChild(), the stage shifts to the right by one pixel. I know that sounds odd, but it's literally true... the 0 line on the y axis is shifted to the right one pixel every time the movie clip is added. I have no idea how this could be happening. • Java, Massive message processing with queue manager (trading)

  Hello, I would like to design a simple application (without j2ee and jms) that can process massive amount of messages (like in trading systems) I have created a service that can receive messages and place them in a queue to so that the system won't stuck when overloaded. Then I created a service (QueueService) that wraps the queue and has a pop method that pops out a message from the queue and if there is no messages returns null, this method is marked as "synchronized" for the next step. I have created a class that knows how process the message (MessageHandler) and another class that can "listen" for messages in a new thread (MessageListener). The thread has a "while(true)" and all the time tries to pop a message. If a message was returned, the thread calls the MessageHandler class and when it's done, he will ask for another message. Now, I have configured the application to open 10 MessageListener to allow multi message processing. I have now 10 threads that all time are in a loop. Is that a good design?? Can anyone reference me to some books or sites how to handle such scenario?? Thanks, Ronny

• C++ arrays as parameters, subscript vs. pointer

  Alright, I'm guessing this is an easy question, so I'll take the knocks, but I'm not finding what I need on google or SO. I'd like to create an array in one place, and populate it inside a different function. I define a function: void someFunction(double results[]) { for (int i = 0; i<100; ++i) { for (int n = 0; n<16; ++n) //note this iteration limit { results[n] += i * n; } } } That's an approximation to what my code is doing, but regardless, shouldn't be running into any overflow or out of bounds issues or anything. I generate an array: double result[16]; for(int i = 0; i<16; i++) { result[i] = -1; } then I want to pass it to someFunction someFunction(result); When I set breakpoints and step through the code, upon entering someFunction, results is set to the same address as result, and the value there is -1.000000 as expected. However, when I start iterating through the loop, results[n] doesn't seem to resolve to *(results+n) or *(results+n*sizeof(double)), it just seems to resolve to *(results). What I end up with is that instead of populating my result array, I just get one value. What am I doing wrong?

  I'm trying to write some abstract code for searching through a list of similar objects for the first one whose attributes match specific values. In order to do this, I need to call a bunch of accessor methods and check all their values one by one. I'd like to use an abstraction like this: sub verify_attribute { my ($object, $attribute_method, $wanted_value) = @_; if ( call_method($object, $attribute_method) ~~ $wanted_value ) { return 1; } else { return; } } Then I can loop through a hash whose keys are accessor method names and whose values are the values I'm looking for for those attributes. • C++ Initialize array in constructor EXC_BAD_ACCESS

  I'm creating a simple constructor and initializing an array: // Construtor Cinema::Cinema(){ // Initalize reservations for(int i = 0; i < 18; i++){ for(int j = 0; j < 12; j++){ setReservation(i, j, 0); } } // Set default name setMovieName("N/A"); // Set default price setPrice(8); } The setReservation function: void Cinema::setReservation(int row, int column, int reservation){ this->reservations[row][column] = reservation; } The setMovieName function: void Cinema::setMovieName(std::string movieName){ this->movieName = movieName; } For some odd reason when I run the program, the setMovieName function gives the following error: "Program Received Signal: EXC_BAD_ACCESS" If I take out the for-loop that initializes the array of reservations, the problem goes away and the movie name is set without any problems. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? • How to use a string as a delimiter shell script

  I am reading a line and am using regex to match it in my script. (/bin/bash) echo $line | grep -E '[Ss][Uu][Bb][Jj][Ee][Cc][Tt]: [Hh][Ee][Ll][Pp]' > /dev/null 2>&1 if [[ $? = "0" && -z $subject ]]; then subject=`echo $line | cut -d: -f2` > /dev/null echo "Was able to grab a SUBJECT $line and the actual subject is -> $subject" >> $logfile fi now my problem is that i use the colon as the delimiter. but sometimes the email will have multiple colons in the subject and so I am not able to grab the whole subject because of that. I am looking for a way to grab everything after the colon following subject. even is there is a way to loop through and check for a colon or what. maybe cut allows you to cut with a string as delimiter? Not sure...any ideas? Thanks!

  I need to go through a set and remove elements that meet a predefined criteria. Even though, I executed this test code and all went well, and I can't explain why. My question: Is this the defined behavior for std sets or is this implementation specific? I am using gcc 4.3.3 on ubuntu 10.04 (32-bit version), by the way. Thanks!
