  I have my subject .net acedemically. I also learned core-java and did a project as well. I took training from a java firm. Now, as a skill I do have knowledge as both language. But, it is creating a large problem to me that, which field I should chhose? Even if having better OOP funda, will it be easier for me to transfer from one-another in future ? Please suggest me a way. Also, we do have may technologies available at both side, like JSP, JSF, J2ME, Share Point, SilverLight etc. Which is better as per their reliabity point of view? Which are fast growing and useful technologies used mostly in current IT corporate world ? Are they easier to learn at fresher's point of view? Please answer. Perhaps, this answer may help me mostly to create my way to learn them and go further.

  Is there a way to tell xrandr "this space intentionally left blank"? I have a laptop that drives its internal display at 1920x1080, but the external monitor I'm using, due to its different aspect ratio, doesn't have that mode. It runs at 1920x1200. • Automating the input of query criteria

  New user to this site and found an extremely informative answer to a question I had but can't find an answer to this one. Using Access 2010, I have 42 different criteria that I need to run individually using the same query. Rather than have 42 queries, or an input parameter dialogue box where I need to enter the criteria 42 times, can I automate this so that the 42 criteria are sourced sequentially from a different table and input to the query using a macro/ module etc. Unfortunately I have no experience of SQL/VBA so am struggling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Am I using too much memory? (Rails on EC2 with Resque)

  Hello, I don't know if this will make any sense to you; but here goes. When I send an email and I get a response, more often than not, in the 'to:' is my email address. However, my email address also ends up in the 'from' column.The 'reply-from' address is nowhere to be found;so I don't have any address with which I can send my reply, as both of them have just my email address. What am I doing wrong here? Is there some set-up in my TOOLOPTIONS set-up incorrectly? The set-up in OPTIONS is pretty difficult to understand and it doesn't offer any 'to' or 'reply-from' choices. This is critical because I just cannot answer my emails because there is no one I can send a reply to. Please, please try to help me.   In Windows 7 (at least) when one chooses Empty Recycle Bin from the RB menu, one gets prompted with a dialog like: Are you sure you want to permanently delete these 11 items? (modulo the actual number of items mentioned). Is there a way to disable this dialog (without disabling the use of the RB altogether)? NOTE 1: This dialog comes up even if one has unchecked the box labeled "Display delete confirmation dialog" in the RB Properties dialog (as long as the RB has not been disabled). NOTE 2: As alluded to above, any answer that entails disabling the use of the Recycle Bin altogether is explicitly ruled out. This includes any answer that involves selecting the button labeled "Don't move files to the Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted." in the RB Preferences window. I realise that one answer is "install a version of Unix find, and then solve as for Unix", but I wanted a more "native" solution. • Elevating UAC via .bat file?

  Pretty straightforward one that I'm having trouble finding an answer to. serverfault previously helped me with finding a way to automate Windows updates without using WSUS. It's working fantastically, but to run it over the network, you have to first mount a shared drive. That's pretty simple XP since you just mount the drive and run the updater. On Vista and W7, though, this all has to be done with elevated privileges to work correctly. The UAC account can't see network drives mounted by the regular user, so in order to get everything working, I have to mount the share via net use from an escalated shell. I'd like to automate mounting this share and launching the updater via a simple .bat file. I could probably just instruct everybody to right click "Run as Administrator" on the .bat file, but I'd like to keep things as simple as possible and have the .bat automatically prompt the user to escalate their privileges. Since these computers don't belong to us, I can't count on anything like Powershell being installed, so that rules any solution along those lines out and pretty much have to rely on things that would be included in an RTM Vista install. I'm hoping I'm mostly missing something obvious here. :)

• Sound plays on headphones and speakers with Lenovo ThinkPad L512 + Ubuntu 10

  The only thing really missing from this install is this issue with the sound. I've searched all over the forums and i found one thing where you get the model and codecs and write them to a file, however, I can't seem to find what my "model" is because none of the postings have anything about Lenovo laptops. Here is the command they all asked for: Code: cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec Codec: Realtek ALC269 Codec: Intel G45 DEVIBX With that info, how do I get the model, and how do I get my speakers to stop playing when headphones are plugged in. Also, I don't have any software installed like pulse audio either, so it's not that. Thanks so much to whoever can answer this... The Ubuntu forums are nearly useless... ive never gotten a correct answer back on that site.

  I'm really struggling with this. I'm trying to set up this server to send mail using Gmail's SMTP. Google keeps bouncing the messages, saying that that Authentication is required: smtp.gmail.com[74.125.196.109]:25: 530-5.5.1 Authentication Required.   Is there any option how could I turn off reloading of web page in Nagios web interface? Many times I checked many services and I needed the webpage to stay static and don't reload. One solution come to my mind - turn off the whole reloading for a while. Problem is that other people are using it too and they may want it at the time I don't want it. If anybody know about any kind of workaround or solution, please don't hesitate to write an answer. ;-) EDIT (+ reaction to the first answer): Maybe there could be a better way how to do it instead of modyfying nagios core. Interesting is, that I tried to disable javascript, it refreshed. I tried to disable http refreshing, it refreshed anyway. Has anybody know how and where is the refresh implemented?

Update I'll keep an eye on this question, but after 13 answers and many attempts (aside form 3rd party solutions) it seems that Windows can't do this (or at least my windows can't, no short names). So I'm accepting the answer which was my original solution anyway of using Linux. It would be nice to see Windows handle this somehow, so don't stop just because I've accepted this answer, the question still stands!

Assume a file that contains 100,000 records of 100-byte each is to be stored on the disk, and NONE of the reocd can be spanned 2 blocks. How many blocks are needed to store the entire file?? If the file is arranged sequentially on disk, how many surfaces are required?? Now, i have calculated that 10,000 blocks are needed to store 100,000 records. But i am not sure how to find out the answer of the surfaces required. I only calculated the capacity of track is 25KB and capacity of surface is 50,000 KB But I don't know how to calculate the number of surfaces... Could anyone help me how to get the answer? Thanks a lot!!

• Windows Server 2003 - Give User Full Admin Privileges

  I am running Windows Server 2003. There are a couple of user accounts that I would like to promote to Administrator accounts. I've tried several ways to do so, but I am still relatively new to setting up a server. If anyone has any ideas on how to go about promoting these users, I thank you in advance. EDIT: I should probably mention that this a domain controller. I didn't realize that this changed the answer I was looking for. I apologize, like I said before I am new to the world of servers. EDIT #2: I've added the users to the Administrator group like most of the answer recommended, but the users don't seem to have admin rights yet. I think this might be because they are also in the Domain Users group, which I can't seem to be able to remove them from.

• Bringing Google Docs to the Desktop

  Is there a stable way of accessing Google Docs (application) from my desktop without having to use a browser on Windows? On my accepted answer... While I did stipulate that I wanted to not use my browser, I didn't really mean I wanted to avoid browser technology. I meant I didn't want to open my browser, type in the web address for google docs, etc. TheTXI's answer required me to download/install nothing more than what I already had (Chrome) to acheive this. It created a desktop icon (similar to an application) that launches me right into my docs (similar to an application), without extra browser-items on the screen. This was an excellent suggestion, and won by virtue of parsimony.

• Windows Server 2008 freezes when I run programs as administrator

  I am working on a machine running Windows Server 2008. Every program I have tried to run (firefox, notepad, wordpad) works fine, but if I right-click on any item on the desktop or the start menu and select "Run as Administrator" it freezes. I can move the mouse around and open/close the start menu, but the items in the start menu do not change color when the mouse hovers over them. I googled for answers for some time but had no luck. Does anyone have any ideas that I could try? (Update: I forgot to mention that the machine is virtual and I am using VMWare Workstation. In order to answer the questions below, I have been going to the same snapshot of the system each time. This lets me start the system in the exact same place each time in order to answer your questions and test.) (Update: When I run any process as administrator and it freezes, I can start task manager, but I cannot see the new process (notepad, etc...) )

  Let's get straight to the point. This is my fictive network architecture: My question is: Would it be possible for Laptop B to intercept traffic sent and received by Laptop A? Please note that B only has WiFi access and no physical control over Router B. Furthermore, Router A and B create different wireless networks with different encryption keys. If both shared the same wireless network or Laptop B had LAN-access to Router B, the answer would be trivial, but I'm not sure how the answer turns out in this scenario :-/ Thanks for your valuable help!

  I've been looking around the Cisco ASA administration screen with our network admin and haven't found the location where Web Applications can be setup. This seems like it should be a pretty straight forward procedure, especially if I just want to add a global application and not segment out by groups. I've looked through the docs, but they are a mess and answer most questions except for this. If you're going to post a RTFM answer, at least please provide link and location because I have looked. This is the location I'm looking to setup web applications on the clientless web VPN.
