    I'm displaying 10 records per page. How can make it where the "Next" link doesn't show on the last page though?

  • Scale 2D coordinates and keep their relative euclidean distances intact?

    I have a set of points like: pointA(3302.34,9392.32), pointB(34322.32,11102.03), etc. I need to scale these so each x- and y-coordinate is in the range (0.0 - 1.0). I tried doing this by first finding the largest x value in the data set (maximum_x_value), and the largest y value in the set (minimum_y_value). I then did the following: pointA.x = (pointA.x - minimum_x_value) / (maximum_x_value - minimum_x_value) pointA.y = (pointA.y - minimum_y_value) / (maximum_y_value - minimum_y_value) This changes the relative distances(?), and therefore makes the data useless for my purposes. Is there a way to scale these coordinates while keeping their relative distances the intact?

  • How do I improve this linear regression function?

    I have the following PHP function that I'm using to draw a trend line. However, it sometimes plots the line below all the points in the scatter graph. Is there an error in my function or is there a better way to do it.     I have a bunch of points in a graph, and for every pair of these points I have "weight" value indicating what their proximity should be, between -1 and 1. I want to choose XY coordinates for these points such that those that have a proximity of 1 are in the same position, and those with a proximity of -1 are distant from each-other. All points must reside within a bounded area. What algorithms should I investigate to achieve this?

In what way would the system being able to recognize only six non-modifier keys at once hinder a fast typist? I consider myself a relatively fast typist and I usually press one key, plus modifiers, at once; I can't imagine any real-life situation in which the system only recognizing six non-modifier keys being pressed at once has been a limiting factor in my keyboard usage. (Multi-stroke keyboard shortcuts as used by high-end software like Visual Studio, Emacs and the like are a different matter.) Note that I am not really interested in answers centered around multiplayer computer games; I'm looking for answers that give reasons that would be relevant to typists, somehow supporting the statement made on Wikipedia.

  • determine collision angle on a rotating body

    update: new diagram and updated description I have a contact listener set up to try and determine the side that a collision happened at relative to the a bodies rotation. One way to solve this is to find the value of the yellow angle between the red and blue vectors drawn above. The angle can be found by taking the arc cosine of the dot product of the two vectors (Evan pointed this out). One of my points of confusion is the difference in domain of the atan2 function html canvas coordinates and the Box2d rotation information. I know I have to account for this somehow... SS below questions: Does Box2D provide these angles more directly in the collision information? Am I even on the right track? If so, any hints?   • How can I generate signed distance fields (2D) in real time, fast?

    In a previous question, it was suggested that signed distance fields can be precomputed, loaded at runtime and then used from there. For reasons I will explain at the end of this question (for people interested), I need to create the distance fields in real time. There are some papers out there for different methods which are supposed to be viable in real-time environments, such as methods for Chamfer distance transforms and Voronoi diagram-approximation based transforms (as suggested in this presentation by the Pixeljunk Shooter dev guy), but I (and thus can be assumed a lot of other people) have a very hard time actually putting them to use, since they're usually long, largely bloated with math and not very algorithmic in their explanation. What algorithm would you suggest for creating the distance fields in real-time (favourably on the GPU) especially considering the resulting quality of the distance fields? Since I'm looking for an actual explanation/tutorial as opposed to a link to just another paper or slide, this question will receive a bounty once it's eligible for one :-).
