  • How to avoid automatic renaming of sub signature parameters in visual basic 6.

    In Visual basic 6, i declare a sub like this: Private Sub test1(ByRef XmlFooOutput As String) ... End Sub after that, i declare another sub like the following one: Private Sub test2(ByRef xmlFooOutput As String) ... End Sub automagically, the first method is transformed in: Private Sub test1(ByVal xmlFooOutput As String) ... End Sub so the XmlFooOutput parameter is transformed in xmlFooOutput. This is a pretty dangerous feature because, method like those could be mapped to different XSL presentation files that read XML values through Xpath. So when test1 parameter is renamed, XSL bound to test1 method goes broken because Xpath point to XmlFooOuput but the correct value is now in xmlFooOutput. Is it possible to remove this weird feature? I'm using microsoft visual basic 6.0 (SP6).     Would it be considered best practice to use a single template that changes it's output based on script values, or have multiple templates, and use the view to pick the correct one instead? Should I instead have a normal mode, and an edit mode template, and use the attribute on the model to pick the template ? For background purposes, I am using backbone.js with underscore templates and an MVC3 backend.

    Hi, I want to test an "Adapter" object that when it receives an xml message, it digest it to a Message object, puts message ID + CorrelationID both with timestamps and forwards it to a Client object.=20 A message can be correlated to a previous one (e.g. m2.correlationID =3D m1.ID). I mock the Client, and check that Adapter successfully calls "client.forwardMessage(m)" twice with first message with null correlationID, and a second with a not-null correlationID. However, I would like to precisely test that the correlationIDs are set correctly, by grabing the IDs (e.g. m1.ID). But I couldn't find anyway to do so. There is a jira about adding the feature, but no one commented and it is unassigned. Is this really unimplemented? I read about the alternative of redesigning the Adapter to use an IdGenerator object, which I can stub, but I think there will be too many objects.=20 Don't you think it adds unnecessary complexity to split objects to a so fine granularity? Should I use table type for a C structure? EDIT: I am using SWIG for the wraping , according to this doc, It seems that I should automatically have this funtion new_type_t(2,3) , but it is not the case. If you wrap a C structure, it is also mapped to a Lua userdata. By adding a metatable to the userdata, this provides a very natural interface. For example, struct Point{ int x,y; }; is used as follows: p=example.new_Point() p.x=3 p.y=5 print(p.x,p.y) 3 5 Similar access is provided for unions and the data members of C++ classes. C structures are created using a function new_Point(), but for C++ classes are created using just the name Point().

    I'm trying to expose a fairly simple C# class to COM which should be usable from VBScript (among others). Some objects need to be created via COM calls and will be used in furter calls later on.   • Can you pass parameters for OnAction in MS Project VBA?

    The way I can define a method to be executed with OnAction in VBA with Microsoft Project is as follows (and works correctly): .OnAction = "Macro ""DoSomething""" ... where DoSomething is the method to execute. I would like to pass a parameter to that method but can't find a way to pass it with this syntax. Does anybody have an idea how to do this? I'm getting the feeling that this is an impossible task, but maybe there's some VBA secret I'm not aware of. Please note that VBA in MS Project seems to have its quirks and is slightly different than VBA for Excel or Access. This seems to be the case for the OnAction property which needs the extra Macro keyword to work correctly. If I'm wrong here please enlighten me.

    Lets say I have a function where the parameter is passed by value instead of const-reference. Further, lets assume that only the value is used inside the function i.e. the function doesn't try to modify it. In that case will the compiler will be able to figure out that it can pass the value by const-reference (for performance reasons) and generate the code accordingly? Is there any compiler which does that?
