  • Are there any thead limitations that make it not print on each page in Firefox?

    I have a table that has a <thead>, a <tfoot> and a <tbody>. It is supposed to print the thead and tfoot on each page in theory, but for some reason the thead does not if it contains certain elements together.   • C programming - How to print numbers with a decimal component using only loops?

    I'm currently taking a basic intro to C programming class, and for our current assignment I am to write a program to convert the number of kilometers to miles using loops--no if-else, switch statements, or any other construct we haven't learned yet are allowed. So basically we can only use loops and some operators. The program will generate three identical tables (starting from 1 kilometer through the input value) for one number input using the while loop for the first set of calculations, the for loop for the second, and the do loop for the third. I've written the entire program, however I'm having a bit of a problem with getting it to recognize an input with a decimal component.     I'm using a script in Conky in order to display my new gmail on my desktop. It works beautifully, but is kind of ugly, and I'm not sure how to fix it.   • How to Animate Text and Objects in PowerPoint 2010

    Are you looking for an eye catching way to keep your audience interested in your PowerPoint presentations? Today we’ll take a look at how to add animation effects to objects in PowerPoint 2010. Select the object you wish to animate and then click the More button in the Animation group of the Animation tab.   Animations are grouped into four categories. Entrance effects, Exit effects, Emphasis effects, and Motion Paths. You can get a Live Preview of how the animation will look by hovering your mouse over an animation effect.   When you select a Motion Path, your object will move along the dashed path line as shown on the screen. (This path is not displayed in the final output) Certain aspects of the Motion Path effects are editable. When you apply a Motion Path animation to an object, you can select the path and drag the end to change the length or size of the path. The green marker along the motion path marks the beginning of the  path and the red marks the end. The effects can be rotated by clicking and the bar near the center of the effect.   You can display additional effects by choosing one of the options at the bottom. This will pop up a Change Effect window. If you have Preview Effect checked at the lower left you can preview the effects by single clicking.   Apply Multiple Animations to an Object Select the object and then click the Add Animation button to display the animation effects. Just as we did with the first effect, you can hover over to get a live preview. Click to apply the effect. The animation effects will happen in the order they are applied. Animation Pane You can view a list of the animations applied to a slide by opening the Animation Pane. Select the Animation Pane button from the Advanced Animation group to display the Animation Pane on the right. You’ll see that each animation effect in the animation pane has an assigned number to the left.    Timing Animation Effects You can change when your animation starts to play. By default it is On Click. To change it, select the effect in the Animation Pane and then choose one of the options from the Start dropdown list. With Previous starts at the same time as the previous animation and After Previous starts after the last animation. You can also edit the duration that the animations plays and also set a delay.   You can change the order in which the animation effects are applied by selecting the effect in the animation pane and clicking Move Earlier or Move Later from the Timing group on the Animation tab. Effect Options If the Effect Options button is available when your animation is selected, then that particular animation has some additional effect settings that can be configured. You can access the Effect Option by right-clicking on the the animation in the Animation Pane, or by selecting Effect Options on the ribbon.   The available options will vary by effect and not all animation effects will have Effect Options settings. In the example below, you can change the amount of spinning and whether the object will spin clockwise or counterclockwise.   Under Enhancements, you can add sound effects to your animation. When you’re finished click OK.   Animating Text Animating Text works the same as animating an object. Simply select your text box and choose an animation. Text does have some different Effect Options. By selecting a sequence, you decide whether the text appears as one object, all at once, or by paragraph. As is the case with objects, there will be different available Effect Options depending on the animation you choose. Some animations, such as the Fly In animation, will have directional options.   Testing Your Animations Click on the Preview button at any time to test how your animations look. You can also select the Play button on the Animation Pane.   • UnsatisfiedLinkError on xawt when running HEC-HMS.sh

    I am a recent adopter of Linux and this problem has got me stumped. I use HEC-HMS and HEC-DSSVue for work on a regular basis. I have been using the widows versions in wine but they are really buggy. So I decided to try out the linux versions. the links below will take you to the download pages for these two programs. They are free programs for Hydrology and data management. Once I install them and attempt to run the shell file (HEC-HMS.sh for example) I get a ton of java errors that I do not understand. If I had to guess I would say that the java files in question can not be found. When I check to see if java is installed it is. I've already spent over 20 hours on this and I would've never believed it if someone told me writing a LaTeX parser was a walk in the park in comparison.   • Temporarily save Word document changes

    Hi I'm using Interop to create a "custom word editor", basically I've incorporated MS Word on my application and I allow users to edit a document and insert custom fields from a predefined list. I provide a "Preview" option to see how the document will appear when the data is added. The users can start editing a template on my application, and at any time they can hit preview and the preview should appear with the latest changes. I want the user to be able to preview the document without saving the changes, the problem is that when I invoke SaveAs() on the document (to create a temp file that I can use as the input for the preview generator), the editor opens the temp document. Is there a way to save a copy of the document being edited but keep the original (open) document with its changes unsaved? Thanks a lot

  • Python constructor does weird things with optional parameters

    Can you help me understand of the behaviour and implications of the python __init__ constructor. It seems like when there is an optional parameter and you try and set an existing object to a new object the optional value of the existing object is preserved and copied. Ok that was confusing... so look at an example I concocted below. In the code below I am trying to make a tree structure with nodes and possibly many children . In the first class NodeBad, the constructor has two parameters, the value and any possible children. The second class NodeGood only takes the value of the node as a parameter. Both have an addchild method to add a child to a node. When creating a tree with the NodeGood class, it works as expected. However, when doing the same thing with the NodeBad class, it seems as though a child can only be added once!     I created a new Azure Website, using Umbraco as the CMS. I got a page up and going, and I already have a .co.nz domain with www.domains4less.com. There's a whole lot of stuff on the internet about pointing URLs to Azure, but that seems to be more of a redirection service than anything (i.e. my URLs still use azurewebsites.net once I land on my site). What I would like to do is emulate the insert/update operations and display the results to the user, and then give them the option of confirming that this is OK, and then committing the changes to the database. I'm using InnoDB database engine with support for transactions. Not sure if this helps but was thinking down the line of insert/update, query data, display to user, then either commit or rollback transaction? Any advise would be appreciated.

    Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 was released this week and one of the first things that I hope you notice is that it no longer contains the latest version of ASP.NET AJAX. What happened? Where did AJAX go? Just like Sting and The Police, just like Phil Collins and Genesis, just like Greg Page and the Wiggles, AJAX has gone out of band! We are starting a solo career. A Name Change First things first. In previous releases, our Ajax framework was named ASP.NET AJAX. We now have changed the name of the framework to the Microsoft Ajax Library. There are two reasons behind this name change. First, the members of the Ajax team got tired of explaining to everyone that our Ajax framework is not tied to the server-side ASP.NET framework. You can use the Microsoft Ajax Library with ASP.NET Web Forms, ASP.NET MVC, PHP, Ruby on RAILS, and even pure HTML applications. Our framework can be used as a client-only framework and having the word ASP.NET in our name was confusing people. Second, it was time to start spelling the word Ajax like everyone else. Notice that the name is the Microsoft Ajax Library and not the Microsoft AJAX library. Originally, Microsoft used upper case AJAX because AJAX originally was an acronym for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. And, according to Strunk and Wagnell, acronyms should be all uppercase. However, Ajax is one of those words that have migrated from acronym status to “just a word” status. So whenever you hear one of your co-workers talk about ASP.NET AJAX, gently correct your co-worker and say “It is now called the Microsoft Ajax Library.” Why OOB? But why move out-of-band (OOB)? The short answer is that we have had approximately 6 preview releases of the Microsoft Ajax Library over the last year. That’s a lot. We pride ourselves on being agile. Client-side technology evolves quickly. We want to be able to get a preview version of the Microsoft Ajax Library out to our customers, get feedback, and make changes to the library quickly. Shipping the Microsoft Ajax Library out-of-band keeps us agile and enables us to continue to ship new versions of the library even after ASP.NET 4 ships.
