  • C# compile error for simple Annual Salary Calculator

    - by Mike Vignapiano
I am new to C# and trying to create my 1st app. I have 3 errors. The first two say that txtSalary and Salary do not exist. The 3rd says that it cannot convert method group 'ToString' to non-delegate type 'string'. and asks if I intend to invoke the method. Here is what I have: protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { int salary, AnnualHours, Rate; string txtAnnualHours, txtSalary, txtRate; salary = AnnualHours * Rate; txtsalary = int.Parse(Salary); txtAnnualHours = salary.ToString; MessageBox.Show(salary); } According to my book, when you enter numerics in AnnualHours and Rate textbox, when click Button1, these values are converted from string to integers, then multiplied for salary. Then numeric answer converted to string and displayed in messagebox named txtSalary. Please show me what I got wrong because according to the book, I am not missing anything.

  • Simple way to do SURBL lookup from Java?

    - by StaxMan
I am reading about SURBLs (known spam hosts), for purpose of classifying spam, as a batch process. Main access method seems to be via DNS lookups. I was wondering what's the usual way to do such lookups from Java code. Since this is a batch process with no strict performance requirements, I think most important feature would just be simplicity.

  • Very simple code for number search gives me infinite loop

    - by Joshua
Hello, I am a newbie Computer Science high school student and I have trouble with a small snippet of code. Basically, my code should perform a basic CLI search in an array of integers. However, what happens is I get what appears to be an infinite loop (BlueJ, the compiler I'm using, gets stuck and I have to reset the machine). I have set break points but I still don't quite get the problem...(I don't even understand most of the things that it tells me) Here's the offending code (assume that "ArrayUtil" works, because it does): import java.util.Scanner; public class intSearch { public static void main(String[] args) { search(); } public static void search() { int[] randomArray = ArrayUtil.randomIntArray(20, 100); Scanner searchInput = new Scanner(System.in); int searchInt = searchInput.nextInt(); if (findNumber(randomArray, searchInt) == -1) { System.out.println("Error"); }else System.out.println("Searched Number: " + findNumber(randomArray, searchInt)); } private static int findNumber(int[] searchedArray, int searchTerm) { for (int i = 0; searchedArray[i] == searchTerm && i < searchedArray.length; i++) { return i; } return -1; } } This has been bugging me for some time now...please help me identify the problem!

  • C# - Fast and simple multi dimensional data structures?

    - by Jeremy Rudd
I need to store multi-dimensional data consisting of numbers in a manner thats easy to work with. I'm capturing data in real time, and once processed I would destroy and GC older data. This data structure must be fast so it won't hit my overall app performance. The faster the better. What are my choices in terms of platform supported data structures? I'm using VS 2010. and .NET 4.

  • Simple interlinear gloss: aligned bilingual paragraph

    - by D W
An interlinear gloss can be used to layout a translation of a document. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interlinear_gloss Usually this is done word-by-word or morpheme-by-morpheme. However, I would like to do this in a different way, translating entire paragraphs at a time. http://www.optimnem.co.uk/learning/spanish/three-little-pigs.php For now I am not interested in taking into account the order of words or phrases that change order between languages. That is, I don't mind if the words in the paragraph are not aligned or if the length of one paragraph is much longer than the other, causing an overhanging line. As far as I can tell, the following packages do not meet my needs: covingtn.sty cgloss4e.sty gb4e.sty lingmacros.sty - shortex

  • any simple jquery <table> paginators

    - by Mike
I'm looking for a jquery plugin so I can paginate my html tables (the content of which is generated by a jsp c:forEach). But so far I haven't found anything that worked. The plugin doesn't need to be fancy, in fact something like the first example on http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4151695/html/pajinate-0.2/examples/example1.html would do fine. I'm still very new to jquery so I don't have the knowledge yet to write one myself. So does anyone have any pointers where I could find one?

  • GWT celltable Simple pager Next and previous buttons

    - by Saritha
I am working on a CellTable with a SimplePager. My paging works fine in the sense when i set the page size to be 5 only 5 records are being displayed. My question is that do next and previous buttons come by default or do we have to configure them. I have seen the show case example code and i do not see any external configurations . my SimplePager code is as follows: //create pager SimplePager.Resources resources = GWT.create(SimplePager.Resources.class); SimplePager simplePager = new SimplePager(TextLocation.CENTER, resources , false, 0, true); simplePager.setDisplay(cellTableSearchResults); simplePager.setPageSize(5); // create data provider ListDataProvider<GridDTO> dataProvider = new ListDataProvider<GridDTO>(); dataProvider.addDataDisplay(cellTableSearchResults); dataProvider.setList(components); Please help.

  • matlab: simple matrix filtering - group size

    - by Art
    I have a huuuge matrix storing information about X and Y coordinates of multiple particle trajectories , which in simplified version looks like that: col 1- track number; col 2- frame number; col 2- coordinate X; col 3- coordinate Y for example: A = 1 1 5.14832 3.36128 1 2 5.02768 3.60944 1 3 4.85856 3.81616 1 4 5.17424 4.08384 2 1 2.02928 18.47536 2 2 2.064 18.5464 3 1 8.19648 5.31056 3 2 8.04848 5.33568 3 3 7.82016 5.29088 3 4 7.80464 5.31632 3 5 7.68256 5.4624 3 6 7.62592 5.572 Now I want to filter out trajectories shorter than lets say 2 and keep remaining stuff like (note renumbering of trajectories): B = 1 1 5.14832 3.36128 1 2 5.02768 3.60944 1 3 4.85856 3.81616 1 4 5.17424 4.08384 2 1 8.19648 5.31056 2 2 8.04848 5.33568 2 3 7.82016 5.29088 2 4 7.80464 5.31632 2 5 7.68256 5.4624 2 6 7.62592 5.572 How to do it efficiently? I can think about some ideas using for loop and vertcat, but its the slowest solution ever :/ Thanks!

This used to work but it returns 0 matches.

  • Simple OOP-related question.

    - by M4design
This question came to my mind quite a few times. Let my explain my question through an example. Say I've got two classes: 1- Grid. 2- Cell. Now the location of the cell 'should' be stored in the grid class, not in the cell class itself. Say that the cell wanted to get its location through a method in the grid. How can it do that? Keep in mind that the cell was created/initialised by the Grid class. What good OO approach to solve this problem? Thank you

  • Simple Big O with lg(n) proof

    - by halohunter
    I'm attempting to guess and prove the Big O for: f(n) = n^3 - 7n^2 + nlg(n) + 10 I guess that big O is n^3 as it is the term with the largest order of growth However, I'm having trouble proving it. My unsuccesful attempt follows: f(n) <= cg(n) f(n) <= n^3 - 7n^2 + nlg(n) + 10 <= cn^3 f(n) <= n^3 + (n^3)*lg(n) + 10n^3 <= cn^3 f(n) <= N^3(11 + lg(n)) <= cn^3 so 11 + lg(n) = c But this can't be right because c must be constant. What am I doing wrong?

  • How to make a simple Wine-based installer for Windows application

    - by zarawesome
My Windows application runs under Wine, but the installation is a bit of a headache for laymen, and the wrappers I've seen online (PlayOnLinux, Wine Doors) require even more packages to be installed. Is there a way to make a package that will install Wine if the user needs it to be installed, install the application and shortcuts, all with minimal user hassle?

  • How do I make "simple" throughput j2ee-filter?

    - by Tommy
I'm looking to create a filter that can give me two things: number of request pr minute, and average responsetime pr minute. I already got the individual readings, I'm just not sure how to add them up. My filter captures every request, and it records the time each request takes: public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ...() { long start = System.currentTimeMillis(); chain.doFilter(request, response); long stop = System.currentTimeMillis(); String time = Util.getTimeDifferenceInSec(start, stop); } This information will be used to create some pretty Google Chart charts. I don't want to store the data in any database. Just a way to get current numbers out when requested As this is a high volume application; low overhead is essential. I'm assuming my applicationserver doesn't provide this information.

  • Rewriting simple C# nested class

    - by Daniel
What would be an elegant way to implement the functionality of this nested class in F#? private class Aliaser { private int _count; internal Aliaser() { } internal string GetNextAlias() { return "t" + (_count++).ToString(); } } This was my first attempt, but it feels like there should be a sexy one-liner for this: let aliases = (Seq.initInfinite (sprintf "t%d")).GetEnumerator() let getNextAlias() = aliases.MoveNext() |> ignore aliases.Current

  • A simple, clean web layout

    - by Shaun_web
Ok, so I hate CSS/HTML graphic design... What do you guys recommend as a sample template or website that you think has great CSS and html layout? From my past experience it's best to get a page that has a white background and little dependency on graphics -- that's clean, and easy to modify ;-).

  • Simple question about javascript history.go

    - by Camran
I have a classifieds website. In every classified, there is a back link which simply takes the browser back one step. This is because when users search classifieds, and click on one to view it, they can easily go back with a link also (instead of only the browser back button). Here is the problem, if the classified is entered directly into the adress bar of a browser, or if somebody bookmarked a classified, then this back-link would take them someplace else... Is there any way of making sure that the previous page is a certain page (index.php in my case)? This way I would only display the back link if the previous page was index.php... Thanks
