  • 'normal' SVC versus 'Silverlight' SVC (WCF)

    - by Michel
    Hi, i'm trying to call a WCF service from my Silverlight 3 app. But... when trying to create a 'silverlight enabled wcf service' in my web project, my VS2008 crashes during creating the item (i think while editing the web.config). So i thought: let's create a 'normal' wcf service, and manually edit it to be a 'silverlight enabled webservice'. So i wondered what the differences are, and second: why is there a difference between a service called from a silverlight app and a non-silverlight app? This is what i have now for the binding (i have a service without an Interface contract, just a direct class exposed, to begin with): <system.serviceModel> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="RadControlsSilverlightApp1.Web.GetNewDataBehavior"> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true" /> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="false" /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> <bindings> <customBinding> <binding name="customBinding0"> <binaryMessageEncoding /> <httpTransport /> </binding> </customBinding> </bindings> <serviceHostingEnvironment aspNetCompatibilityEnabled="true" /> <services> <service behaviorConfiguration="RadControlsSilverlightApp1.Web.GetNewDataBehavior" name="RadControlsSilverlightApp1.Web.GetNewData"> <endpoint address="" binding="customBinding" bindingConfiguration="customBinding0" contract="RadControlsSilverlightApp1.Web.GetNewData" /> <endpoint address="mex" binding="mexHttpBinding" contract="IMetadataExchange" /> </service> </services> </system.serviceModel> This one doesn't work because when i add a reference to it from the silverlight app i get these messages: Warning 2 Custom tool warning: Cannot import wsdl:portType Detail: An exception was thrown while running a WSDL import extension: System.ServiceModel.Description.DataContractSerializerMessageContractImporter Error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. • Simple Observation in Django: How Can I Correctly Modify The `attrs` sent to __new__ of a Django Mod

    - by DGGenuine
    Hello, I'm a strong proponent of the observer pattern, and this is what I'd like to be able to do in my Django models.py: class AModel(Model): __metaclass__ = SomethingMagical @post_save(AnotherModel) @classmethod def observe_another_model_saved(klass, sender, instance, created, **kwargs): pass @pre_init('YetAnotherModel') @classmethod def observe_yet_another_model_initializing(klass, sender, *args, **kwargs): pass @post_delete('DifferentApp.SomeModel') @classmethod def observe_some_model_deleted(klass, sender, **kwargs): pass This would connect a signal with sender = the decorator's argument and receiver = the decorated method. Right now my signal connection code all exists in __init__.py which is okay, but a little unmaintainable. I want this code all in one place, the models.py file. Thanks to helpful feedback from the community I'm very close (I think.) (I'm using a metaclass solution instead of the class decorator solution in the previous question/answer because you can't set attributes on classmethods, which I need.) I am having a strange error I don't understand. At the end of my post are the contents of a models.py that you can pop into a fresh project/application to see the error. Set your database to sqlite and add the application to installed apps. This is the error: Validating models... Unhandled exception in thread started by Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages//lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/commands/runserver.py", line 48, in inner_run File "/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/django/core/management/base.py", line 253, in validate raise CommandError("One or more models did not validate:\n%s" % error_text) django.core.management.base.CommandError: One or more models did not validate: local.myothermodel: 'my_model' has a relation with model MyModel, which has either not been installed or is abstract. I've indicated a few different things you can comment in/out to fix the error. First, if you don't modify the attrs sent to the metaclass's __new__, then the error does not arise. (Note even if you copy the dictionary element by element into a new dictionary, it still fails; only using the exact attrs dictionary works.) Second, if you reference the first model by class rather than by string, the error also doesn't arise regardless of what you do in __new__. I appreciate your help. I'll be githubbing the solution if and when it works. Maybe other people would enjoy a simplified way to use Django signals to observe application happenings. #models.py from django.db import models from django.db.models.base import ModelBase from django.db.models import signals import pdb class UnconnectedMethodWrapper(object): sender = None method = None signal = None def __init__(self, signal, sender, method): self.signal = signal self.sender = sender self.method = method def post_save(sender): return _make_decorator(signals.post_save, sender) def _make_decorator(signal, sender): def decorator(view): return UnconnectedMethodWrapper(signal, sender, view) return decorator class ConnectableModel(ModelBase): """ A meta class for any class that will have static or class methods that need to be connected to signals. """ def __new__(cls, name, bases, attrs): unconnecteds = {} ## NO WORK newattrs = {} for name, attr in attrs.iteritems(): if isinstance(attr, UnconnectedMethodWrapper): unconnecteds[name] = attr newattrs[name] = attr.method #replace the UnconnectedMethodWrapper with the method it wrapped. else: newattrs[name] = attr ## NO WORK # newattrs = {} # for name, attr in attrs.iteritems(): # newattrs[name] = attr ## WORKS # newattrs = attrs new = super(ConnectableModel, cls).__new__(cls, name, bases, newattrs) for name, unconnected in unconnecteds.iteritems(): _connect_signal(unconnected.signal, unconnected.sender, getattr(new, name), new._meta.app_label) return new def _connect_signal(signal, sender, receiver, default_app_label): # full implementation also accepts basestring as sender and will look up model accordingly signal.connect(sender=sender, receiver=receiver) class MyModel(models.Model): __metaclass__ = ConnectableModel @post_save('In my application this string matters') @classmethod def observe_it(klass, sender, instance, created, **kwargs): pass @classmethod def normal_class_method(klass): pass class MyOtherModel(models.Model): ## WORKS # my_model = models.ForeignKey(MyModel) ## NO WORK my_model = models.ForeignKey('MyModel')

  • IErrorHandler doesn't seem to be handling my errors in WCF .. any ideas?

    - by John Nicholas
    Have been readign around on IErrorHandler and want to go the config route. so, I have read the following in an attempt to implement it. MSDN Keyvan Nayyeri blog about the type defintion Rory Primrose Blog I have got it to compile and from the various errors i have fixed it seems like WCF is actually loading the error handler. My problem is that the exception that i am throwing to handle in the error handler doesn;t get the exception passed to it. My service implementation simply calls a method on another class that throws ArgumentOutOfRangeException - however this exception never gets handled by the handler. My web.config <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="basic"> <security mode="None" /> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> </bindings> <extensions> <behaviorExtensions> <add name="customHttpBehavior" type="ErrorHandlerTest.ErrorHandlerElement, ErrorHandlerTest, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null" /> </behaviorExtensions> </extensions> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="exceptionHandlerBehaviour"> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true"/> <!-- To receive exception details in faults for debugging purposes, set the value below to true. Set to false before deployment to avoid disclosing exception information --> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true"/> <customHttpBehavior /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> <services> <service behaviorConfiguration="exceptionHandlerBehaviour" name="ErrorHandlerTest.Service1"> <endpoint binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="basic" contract="ErrorHandlerTest.IService1" /> </service> </services> Service Contract [ServiceContract] public interface IService1 { [OperationContract] [FaultContract(typeof(GeneralInternalFault))] string GetData(int value); } The ErrorHandler class public class ErrorHandler : IErrorHandler , IServiceBehavior { public bool HandleError(Exception error) { Console.WriteLine("caught exception {0}:",error.Message ); return true; } public void ProvideFault(Exception error, MessageVersion version, ref Message fault) { if (fault!=null ) { if (error is ArgumentOutOfRangeException ) { var fe = new FaultException<GeneralInternalFault>(new GeneralInternalFault("general internal fault.")); MessageFault mf = fe.CreateMessageFault(); fault = Message.CreateMessage(version, mf, fe.Action); } else { var fe = new FaultException<GeneralInternalFault>(new GeneralInternalFault(" the other general internal fault.")); MessageFault mf = fe.CreateMessageFault(); fault = Message.CreateMessage(version, mf, fe.Action); } } } public void AddBindingParameters(ServiceDescription serviceDescription, ServiceHostBase serviceHostBase, System.Collections.ObjectModel.Collection<ServiceEndpoint> endpoints, BindingParameterCollection bindingParameters) { } public void ApplyDispatchBehavior(ServiceDescription serviceDescription, ServiceHostBase serviceHostBase) { IErrorHandler errorHandler = new ErrorHandler(); foreach (ChannelDispatcherBase channelDispatcherBase in serviceHostBase.ChannelDispatchers) { ChannelDispatcher channelDispatcher = channelDispatcherBase as ChannelDispatcher; if (channelDispatcher != null) { channelDispatcher.ErrorHandlers.Add(errorHandler); } } } public void Validate(ServiceDescription serviceDescription, ServiceHostBase serviceHostBase) { } } And the Behaviour Extension Element public class ErrorHandlerElement : BehaviorExtensionElement { protected override object CreateBehavior() { return new ErrorHandler(); } public override Type BehaviorType { get { return typeof(ErrorHandler); } } }

  • How do I solve an unresolved external when using C++ Builder packages?

    - by David M
    I'm experimenting with reconfiguring my application to make heaving use of packages. Both I and another developer running a similar experiment are running into a bit of trouble when linking using several different packages. We're probably both doing something wrong, but goodness knows what :) The situation is this: The first package, PackageA.bpl, contains C++ class FooA. The class is declared with the PACKAGE directive. The second package, PackageB.bpl, contains a class inheriting from FooA, called FooB. It includes FooB.h, and the package is built using runtime packages, and links to PackageA by adding a reference to PackageA.bpi. When building PackageB, it compiles fine but linking fails with a number of unresolved externals, the first few of which are: [ILINK32 Error] Error: Unresolved external '__tpdsc__ FooA' referenced from C:\blah\FooB.OBJ [ILINK32 Error] Error: Unresolved external 'FooA::' referenced from C:\blah\FooB.OBJ [ILINK32 Error] Error: Unresolved external '__fastcall FooA::~FooA()' referenced from blah\FooB.OBJ etc. Running TDump on PackageA.bpl shows: Exports from PackageA.bpl 14 exported name(s), 14 export addresse(s). Ordinal base is 1. Sorted by Name: RVA Ord. Hint Name -------- ---- ---- ---- 00002A0C 8 0000 __tpdsc__ FooA 00002AD8 10 0001 __linkproc__ FooA::Finalize 00002AC8 9 0002 __linkproc__ FooA::Initialize 00002E4C 12 0003 __linkproc__ PackageA::Finalize 00002E3C 11 0004 __linkproc__ PackageA::Initialize 00006510 14 0007 FooA:: 00002860 5 0008 FooA::FooA(FooA&) 000027E4 4 0009 FooA::FooA() 00002770 3 000A __fastcall FooA::~FooA() 000028DC 6 000B __fastcall FooA::Method1() const 000028F4 7 000C __fastcall FooA::Method2() const 00001375 2 000D Finalize 00001368 1 000E Initialize 0000610C 13 000F ___CPPdebugHook So the class definitely seems to be exported and available to link. I can see entries for the specific things ILink32 says it's looking for and not finding. Running TDump on the BPI file shows similar entries. Other info The class does descend from TObject, though originally before refactoring into packages it was a normal C++ class. (More detail below. It seems "safer" using VCL-style classes when trying to solve problems with a very Delphi-ish thing like this anyway. Changing this only changes the order of unresolved externals to first not find Method1 and Method2, then others.) Declaration for FooA: class PACKAGE FooA: public TObject { public: FooA(); virtual __fastcall ~FooA(); FooA(const FooA&); virtual __fastcall long Method1() const; virtual __fastcall long Method2() const; }; and FooB: class FooB: public FooA { public: FooB(); virtual __fastcall ~FooB(); ... other methods... }; All methods definitely are implemented in the .cpp files, so it's not not finding them because they don't exist! The .cpp files also contain #pragma package(smart_init) near the top, under the includes. Questions that might help... Are packages reliable using C++, or are they only useable with Delphi code? Is linking to the first package by adding a reference to its BPI correct - is that how you're supposed to do it? I could use a LIB but it seems to make the second package much larger, and I suspect it's statically linking in the contents of the first. Can we use the PACKAGE directive only on TObject-derived classes? There is no compiler warning using it on standard C++ classes. Is splitting code into packages the best way to achieve the goal of isolating code and communicating through defined layers / interfaces? I've been investigating this path because it seems to be the C++Builder / Delphi Way, and if it worked it looks attractive. But are there better alternatives? I'm very new to using packages and have only known about them through using components before. Any general words of advice would be great! We're using C++Builder 2010. I've fabricated the class and method names in the above code examples, but other than that the details are exactly what we're seeing. Cheers, David

  • Clickonce installation fails after addition of WCF service project

    - by Ant
    So I have a winform solution, deployed via clickonce. Eveything worked fine until i added a WCF project. (see error in parsing the manifest file at end of post) Now I notice that MSBuild compiles the service into a _PublishedWebsites dir. I don't know what the need for this is, but I am suspecting this is the cause of the problem. This wcf project references some other projects within the solution. I am actually hosting the wcf service within the application so I don't really need MSBuild to do all this for me. • C program runs in Cygwin but not Linux (Malloc)

    - by Shawn
    I have a heap allocation error that I cant spot in my code that is picked up on vanguard/gdb on Linux but runs perfectly on a Windows cygwin environment. I understand that Linux could be tighter with its heap allocation than Windows but I would really like to have a response that discovers the issue/possible fix. I'm also aware that I shouldn't typecast malloc in C but it's a force of habit and doesn't change my problem from happening. My program actually compiles without error on both Linux & Windows but when I run it in Linux I get a scary looking result: malloc.c:3074: sYSMALLOc: Assertion `(old_top == (((mbinptr) (((char *) &((av)-bins[((1) - 1) * 2])) - __builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd)))) && old_size == 0) || ((unsigned long) (old_size) = (unsigned long)((((__builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd_nextsize))+((2 * (sizeof(size_t))) - 1)) & ~((2 * (sizeof(size_t))) - 1))) && ((old_top)-size & 0x1) && ((unsigned long)old_end & pagemask) == 0)' failed. • Sending emails in web applications

    - by Denise
    Hi everyone, I'm looking for some opinions here, I'm building a web application which has the fairly standard functionality of: Register for an account by filling out a form and submitting it. Receive an email with a confirmation code link Click the link to confirm the new account and log in When you send emails from your web application, it's often (usually) the case that there will be some change to the persistence layer. For example: A new user registers for an account on your site - the new user is created in the database and an email is sent to them with a confirmation link A user assigns a bug or issue to someone else - the issue is updated and email notifications are sent. How you send these emails can be critical to the success of your application. How you send them depends on how important it is that the intended recipient receives the email. We'll look at the following four strategies in relation to the case where the mail server is down, using example 1. TRANSACTIONAL & SYNCHRONOUS The sending of the email fails and the user is shown an error message saying that their account could not be created. The application will appear to be slow and unresponsive as the application waits for the connection timeout. The account is not created in the database because the transaction is rolled back. TRANSACTIONAL & ASYNCHRONOUS The transactional definition here refers to sending the email to a JMS queue or saving it in a database table for another background process to pick up and send. The user account is created in the database, the email is sent to a JMS queue for processing later. The transaction is successful and committed. The user is shown a message saying that their account was created and to check their email for a confirmation link. It's possible in this case that the email is never sent due to some other error, however the user is told that the email has been sent to them. There may be some delay in getting the email sent to the user if application support has to be called in to diagnose the email problem. NON-TRANSACTIONAL & SYNCHRONOUS The user is created in the database, but the application gets a timeout error when it tries to send the email with the confirmation link. The user is shown an error message saying that there was an error. The application is slow and unresponsive as it waits for the connection timeout When the mail server comes back to life and the user tries to register again, they are told their account already exists but has not been confirmed and are given the option of having the email re-sent to them. NON-TRANSACTIONAL & ASYNCHRONOUS The only difference between this and transactional & asynchronous is that if there is an error sending the email to the JMS queue or saving it in the database, the user account is still created but the email is never sent until the user attempts to register again. What I'd like to know is what have other people done here? Can you recommend any other solutions other than the 4 I've mentioned above? What's a reasonable way of approaching this problem? I don't want to over-engineer a system that's dealing with the (hopefully) rare situation where my mail server goes down! The simplest thing to do is to code it synchronously, but are there any other pitfalls to this approach? I guess I'm wondering if there's a best practice, I couldn't find much out there by googling.

  • reading Twitter API with JSON framework

    - by iPixFolio
    Hi, I'm building a twitter reader into an app. I'm using this JSON library to parse the twitter API. I'm seeing some odd results on certain messages. I know that the Twitter API returns results in UTF8 format. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong when reading the JSON parsed fields. My code is spread out across multiple classes so it's hard to give a concise code drop with the symptoms, but here's what I've got: I am using ASIHTTP for async HTTP processing. Here is processing a response from ASIHTTP: ... NSMutableString* tempString = [[NSMutableString alloc] initWithString:[request responseString]]; NSError *error; SBJSON *json = [[SBJSON alloc] init]; id JSONresponse = [json objectWithString:tempString error:&error]; [tempString release]; [json release]; if (JSONresponse) { self.response = JSONresponse; ... self.response holds the JSON representation of the result from the Twitter call. Now, I will take the JSON response and write each tweet into a container object (Tweet). in the following code, the response from above is referenced as request.response: ... // save list of albums to local cache for (NSDictionary* response in request.response) { Tweet* tweet = [[Tweet alloc] init]; tweet.text = [response objectForKey:@"text"]; tweet.id = [response objectForKey:@"id"]; tweet.created = [response objectForKey:@"created_at"]; [Tweet addTweet:tweet]; [tweet release]; } ... at this point, I have a container holding the tweets. I'm only keeping 3 fields from the tweet: "id", "text", and "created_at". the "text" field is the problem field. To display the tweets, I build an HTML page from the container of tweets, like this: ... Tweet* tweet = nil; for (int i = 0; i < [Tweet tweetCount]; i++) { tweet = [Tweet tweetAtIndex:i]; [html appendString:@"<div class='tweet'>"]; [html appendFormat:@"<div class='tweet-date'>%@</div>", tweet.created ]; [html appendFormat:@"<div class='tweet-text'>%@</div>", tweet.text ]; [html appendString:@"</div>"]; } ... In another routine, I save the HTML page to a temp file. if (html && [html length] > 0 ) { NSString* uniqueString = [[NSProcessInfo processInfo] globallyUniqueString]; NSString* filename = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@.html", uniqueString ]; filename = [tempDir stringByAppendingPathComponent:filename]; NSError* error = nil; [html writeToFile:filename atomically:NO encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&error]; ... I then create a URLRequest from the file and load it into an UIWebview: NSURL* url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:filename]; NSURLRequest* request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [self.webView loadRequest:request]; ... At this point, I can see the tweets in a browser window. some of the tweets will show invalid characters like this: iPhone 4 ad spoofed with Glee’s Jane Lynch ... Glee’s should be Glee's Can anybody shed any light on what I'm doing wrong and offer suggestions on how to fix? basically, to summarize: I'm reading a UTF8 feed with JSON I write the UTF8 strings into an HTML file I display the HTML file with UIWebview. some of the UTF8 strings are not properly decoded. I need to know where to decode them and how to do it. thanks! Mark

  • push_back of STL list got bad performance?

    I wrote a simple program to test STL list performance against a simple C list-like data structure. It shows bad performance at "push_back()" line. • iphone app: delegate not responding

    - by Fiona
    Hi guys.. So i'm very new to this iphone development stuff.... and i'm stuck. I'm building an app that connects to the twitter api. However when the connectionDidFinishLoading method gets called, it doesn't seem to recognise the delegate. Here's the source code of the request class: import "OnePageRequest.h" @implementation OnePageRequest @synthesize username; @synthesize password; @synthesize receivedData; @synthesize delegate; @synthesize callback; @synthesize errorCallBack; @synthesize contactsArray; -(void)friends_timeline:(id)requestDelegate requestSelector:(SEL)requestSelector{ //set the delegate and selector self.delegate = requestDelegate; self.callback = requestSelector; //Set up the URL of the request to send to twitter!! NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://twitter.com/statuses/friends_timeline.xml"]; [self request:url]; } -(void)request:(NSURL *) url{ theRequest = [[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] initWithURL:url]; theConnection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; if (theConnection){ //Create the MSMutableData that will hold the received data. //receivedData is declared as a method instance elsewhere receivedData=[[NSMutableData data] retain]; }else{ //errorMessage.text = @"Error connecting to twitter!!"; } } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:(NSURLAuthenticationChallenge *)challenge{ if ([challenge previousFailureCount] == 0){ NSLog(@"username: %@ ",[self username]); NSLog(@"password: %@ ",[self password]); NSURLCredential *newCredential = [NSURLCredential credentialWithUser:[self username] password:[self password] persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistenceNone]; [[challenge sender] useCredential:newCredential forAuthenticationChallenge:challenge]; } else { [[challenge sender] cancelAuthenticationChallenge:challenge]; NSLog(@"Invalid Username or password!"); } } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response{ [receivedData setLength:0]; } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data{ [receivedData appendData:data]; } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error{ [theConnection release]; [receivedData release]; [theRequest release]; NSLog(@"Connection failed. Error: %@ %@", [error localizedDescription], [[error userInfo] objectForKey:NSErrorFailingURLStringKey]); if(errorCallBack){ [delegate performSelector:errorCallBack withObject:error]; } } -(void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection{ if (delegate && callback){ if([delegate respondsToSelector:[self callback]]){ [delegate performSelector:[self callback] withObject:receivedData]; }else{ NSLog(@"No response from delegate!"); } } [theConnection release]; [theRequest release]; [receivedData release]; } Here's the .h: @interface OnePageRequest : NSObject { NSString *username; NSString *password; NSMutableData *receivedData; NSURLRequest *theRequest; NSURLConnection *theConnection; id delegate; SEL callback; SEL errorCallBack; NSMutableArray *contactsArray; } @property (nonatomic,retain) NSString *username; @property (nonatomic,retain) NSString *password; @property (nonatomic,retain) NSMutableData *receivedData; @property (nonatomic,retain) id delegate; @property (nonatomic) SEL callback; @property (nonatomic) SEL errorCallBack; @property (nonatomic,retain) NSMutableArray *contactsArray; -(void)friends_timeline:(id)requestDelegate requestSelector:(SEL)requestSelector; -(void)request:(NSURL *) url; @end In the method: connectionDidFinishLoading, the following never gets executed: [delegate performSelector:[self callback] withObject:receivedData]; Instead I get the message: "No response from delegate" Anyone see what I'm doing wrong?! or what might be causing the problem? Regards, Fiona

    I have the following code to launch a file : try { path = fileJsonObject.getString("filePath"); if (path.indexOf("/") == 0) { path = path.substring(1, path.length()); } path = root + path; final File fileToOpen = new File(path); if (fileToOpen.exists()) { if (fileToOpen.isFile()) { Intent myIntent = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_VIEW); myIntent.setData(Uri.parse(path)); final String pathToCheck = new String(path); pathToCheck.toLowerCase(); if (pathToCheck.endsWith(".wav") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".ogg") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".mp3") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".mid") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".midi") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".amr")) { myIntent.setType("audio/*"); } else if (pathToCheck.endsWith(".mpg") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".mpeg") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".3gp") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".mp4")) { myIntent.setType("video/*"); } else if (pathToCheck.endsWith(".jpg") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".jpeg") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".gif") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".png") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".bmp")) { myIntent.setType("image/*"); } else if (pathToCheck.endsWith(".txt") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".csv") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".xml")) { Log.i("txt","Text fileeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"); myIntent.setType("text/*"); } else if (pathToCheck.endsWith(".gz") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".rar") || pathToCheck.endsWith(".zip")) { myIntent.setType("package/*"); } else if (pathToCheck.endsWith(".apk")) { myIntent.setType("application/vnd.android.package-archive"); } ((Activity) context).startActivityForResult(myIntent, RequestCodes.LAUNCH_FILE_CODE); } else { errUrl = resMsgHandler.errMsgResponse(fileJsonObject, "Incorrect path provided. please give correct path of file"); return errUrl; } } else { errUrl = resMsgHandler.errMsgResponse(fileJsonObject,"Incorrect path provided. please give correct path of file"); return errUrl; } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); Log.i("err","Unable to launch file" + " " + e.getMessage()); errUrl = resMsgHandler.errMsgResponse(fileJsonObject, "Unable to launch file" + " " + e.getMessage()); return errUrl; } @Override protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data); try { if (requestCode == RequestCodes.LAUNCH_FILE_CODE) { if (resultCode == RESULT_CANCELED) { Log.i("err","errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"); String errUrl = responseMsgHandler.errMsgResponse(FileHandler.fileJsonObject, "Unable to launch file"); mWebView.loadUrl(errUrl); } else if (resultCode == RESULT_OK) { String successUrl = responseMsgHandler.launchfileResponse(FileHandler.fileJsonObject); mWebView.loadUrl(successUrl); } Amd the result ctrl is at "if (resultCode == RESULT_CANCELED)".   • Identifier is undefined

    - by hawk
    I wrote the following code in C++ using VS2012 Express. void ac_search( uint num_patterns, uint pattern_length, const char *patterns, uint num_records, uint record_length, const char *records, int *matches, Node* trie) { // Irrelevant code omitted. } vector<int> ac_benchmark_search( uint num_patterns, uint pattern_length, const char *patterns, uint num_records, uint record_length, const char *records, double &time) { // Prepare the container for the results vector<int> matches(num_records * num_patterns); Trie T; Node* trie = T.addWord(records, num_records, record_length); // error line ac_search(num_patterns, pattern_length, patterns, num_records, record_length, records, matches.data(), trie); // Irrelevant code omitted. return matches; } I get the error identifier "ac_search" is undefined at the function invoking line. I am a bit confused here. because the function ac_search is declared as a global (not inside any container). Why can't I call it at this place? Am I missing something? Update I tried ignore irrelevant code and then included it gradually and found that everything is fine until I include the outer loop of ac_search I get the aforementioned error. here is updated code of the function ac_search: void ac_cpu_string_search(uint num_patterns, uint pattern_length, const char *patterns, uint num_records, uint record_length, const char *records, int *matches, Node* trie) { // Loop over all records //for (uint record_number = 0; record_number < num_records; ++record_number) //{ // // Loop over all patterns for (uint pattern_number = 0; pattern_number < num_patterns; ++pattern_number) { // Execute string search const char *ptr_record = &records[record_number * record_length]; const char *ptr_match = std::strstr(ptr_record, &patterns[pattern_number * pattern_length]); // If pattern was found, then calculate offset, otherwise result is -1 if (ptr_match) { matches[record_number * num_patterns + pattern_number] = static_cast<int>(std::distance(ptr_record, ptr_match)); } else { matches[record_number * num_patterns + pattern_number] = -1; } // } //} } Update 2 I think the error has something to do with the function addWord which belongs to the class Trie. When I commented out this function, I did not get the error anymore. Node* Trie::addWord(const char *records, uint num_records, uint record_length) { // Loop over all records for (uint record_number = 0; record_number < num_records; ++record_number) { const char *ptr_record = &records[record_number * record_length]; string s = ptr_record; Node* current = root; if ( s.length() == 0 ) { current->setWordMarker(); // an empty word return; } for ( int i = 0; i < s.length(); i++ ) { Node* child = current->findChild(s[i]); if ( child != NULL ) { current = child; } else { Node* tmp = new Node(); tmp->setContent(s[i]); current->appendChild(tmp); current = tmp; } if ( i == s.length() - 1 ) current->setWordMarker(); } return current; } void ac_search( uint num_patterns, uint pattern_length, const char *patterns, uint num_records, uint record_length, const char *records, int *matches, Node* trie) { // Irrelevant code omitted. } vector<int> ac_benchmark_search( uint num_patterns, uint pattern_length, const char *patterns, uint num_records, uint record_length, const char *records, double &time) { // Prepare the container for the results vector<int> matches(num_records * num_patterns); Trie T; Node* trie = T.addWord(records, num_records, record_length); // error line ac_search(num_patterns, pattern_length, patterns, num_records, record_length, records, matches.data(), trie); // Irrelevant code omitted. return matches; }

  • Geolocation through Android's GPS Provider on a website?

    - by Corey Ogburn
    I'm trying to get the geolocation of the mobile device in a regular website, not a webview of an application or anything native like that. I'm getting a location, but it's highly inaccurate, the accuracy comes back as 3230 or some other outrageous number. I'm assuming that's in meters, either way it's not nearly accurate enough. By comparison, the same webpage on a laptop gets an accuracy of 30-40. My first thought was that it was using the Network Provider instead of the GPS Provider, telling me where I am based on tower location and reach. A little research later I found enableHighAccuracy and set it true in the options that I pass. After including that, I still notice no difference. Here's the test page's HTML/javascript: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ecn.dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/mapcontrol.ashx?v=7.0"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.3/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function OnLoad() { $("#Status").text("Init"); if (navigator.geolocation) { $("#Status").text("Supports Geolocation"); navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(HandleLocation, LocationError, { enableHighAccuracy: true }); $("#Status").text("Sent position request..."); } else { $("#Status").text("Doesn't support geolocation"); } } function HandleLocation(position) { $("#Status").text("Received response:"); $("#Position").text("(" + position.coords.latitude + ", " + position.coords.longitude + ") accuracy: " + position.coords.accuracy); var loc = new Microsoft.Maps.Location(position.coords.latitude, position.coords.longitude); GetMap(loc); } function LocationError(error) { switch(error.code) { case error.PERMISSION_DENIED: alert("Location not provided"); break; case error.POSITION_UNAVAILABLE: alert("Current location not available"); break; case error.TIMEOUT: alert("Timeout"); break; default: alert("unknown error"); break; } } function GetMap(loc) { var map = new Microsoft.Maps.Map(document.getElementById("mapDiv"), {credentials: "Aj59meaCR1e7rNgkfQy7j08Pd3mzfP1r04hGesGmLe2a3ZwZ3iGecwPX2SNPWq5a", center: loc, mapTypeId: Microsoft.Maps.MapTypeId.road, zoom: 15}); } </script> </head> <body onload="javascript:OnLoad()"> <div id="Status"></div> <div id="Position"></div><br/> <div id='mapDiv' style="position:relative; width:600px; height:400px;"></div> </body> </html> I'm testing this on a rooted MyTouch 3G running Cyanogen 6.1 stable, Android 2.2 and GPS is enabled. In case rooting was a problem, I have also had various friends and coworkers try the webpage on their non-rooted 2.0+ Android devices. Each phone had various effects on the accuracy, but none were better than 1000, I attribute this to the different carriers. I have not (but eventually will) tested with iPhone or other location-aware cell phones.

    I have a problem with deserializing in C#/ASP.NET, which gives the exact error: The input stream is not a valid binary format. The starting contents (in bytes) are: 41-41-45-41-41-41-44-2F-2F-2F-2F-2F-41-51-41-41-41 ... What I am trying to do I have a structure with 3 classes. I have a class A which is a base class, and then class B and C which are derived from A. I am trying to store random types of B and C in the database using LINQ to SQL, in a column with the type VARCHAR(MAX). I cannot use BINARY as the length is around 15.000. My code... Error is in the LAST codeblock C# Code in Business layer- Storing a record private void AddTraceToDatabase(FightTrace trace) { MemoryStream recieverStream = new MemoryStream(); MemoryStream firedStream = new MemoryStream(); MemoryStream moveStream = new MemoryStream(); BinaryFormatter binaryFormatter = new BinaryFormatter(); binaryFormatter.Serialize(recieverStream,trace.Reciever); binaryFormatter.Serialize(firedStream,trace.FiredBy); binaryFormatter.Serialize(moveStream,trace.Move); string reciever = Convert.ToBase64String(recieverStream.ToArray()); string fired = Convert.ToBase64String(firedStream.ToArray()); string move = Convert.ToBase64String(moveStream.ToArray()); this.dataAccess.AddFightTrace(trace.TraceType.ToString(),reciever,move,fired,trace.DateTime,this.FightId); } C# Code in Data access layer - Storing a record public void AddFightTrace(string type, string reciever, string Move, string firedBy, DateTime firedAt, int fightid) { GameDataContext db = new GameDataContext(); dbFightTrace trace = new dbFightTrace(); trace.TraceType = type; trace.Reciever = reciever; trace.Move = Move; trace.FiredBy = firedBy; trace.FiredAt = firedAt; trace.FightId = fightid; db.dbFightTraces.InsertOnSubmit(trace); db.SubmitChanges(); } C# Code getting the entry in the database public List<dbFightTrace> GetNewTraces(int fightid, DateTime lastUpdate) { GameDataContext db = new GameDataContext(); var data = from d in db.dbFightTraces where d.FightId==fightid && d.FiredAt > lastUpdate select d; return data.ToList(); } C# Factory, converting from LINQ to SQL class to my objects THIS IS HERE THE ERROR COMES public FightTrace CreateTrace(dbFightTrace trace) { TraceType traceType = (TraceType) Enum.Parse(typeof(TraceType), trace.TraceType); BinaryFormatter formatter = new BinaryFormatter(); System.Text.UTF8Encoding enc = new System.Text.UTF8Encoding(); MemoryStream recieverStream = new MemoryStream(enc.GetBytes(trace.Reciever)); recieverStream.Position = 0; MemoryStream firedStream = new MemoryStream(enc.GetBytes(trace.FiredBy)); firedStream.Position = 0; MemoryStream movedStream = new MemoryStream(enc.GetBytes(trace.Move)); movedStream.Position = 0; // THE NEXT LINE HERE CAUSES THE ERROR NPC reciever = formatter.Deserialize(recieverStream) as NPC; Player fired = formatter.Deserialize(firedStream) as Player; BaseAttack attack = formatter.Deserialize(movedStream) as BaseAttack; FightTrace t = new FightTrace(traceType,reciever,attack,fired); t.TraceId = trace.FightTraceId; t.DateTime = trace.FiredAt; return t; } So the error happends when the first Deserialize method is run, with the above error. I have tried several things but I am quite lost on this one.. Thanks! :-)

  • Can't figure out this file behavior in IOS 4.2

    - by Don Jones
    Odd behavior with file behavior. Here's the thing: I'm using the phone camera to snap a picture, and internally generating a thumbnail. I'm saving those as temp files in the Documents directory. Here's the complete code: - (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info { UIImage *photo = [info objectForKey:@"UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage"]; photo = [self scaleAndRotateImage:photo]; // save photo NSString *docsDir = [NSHomeDirectory() stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"Documents"]; NSLog(@"Writing to %@",docsDir); // save photo file NSLog(@"Saving photo as %@",[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/temp_photo.png",docsDir]); [UIImagePNGRepresentation(photo) writeToFile:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/temp_photo.png",docsDir] atomically:YES]; // make and save thumbnail NSLog(@"Saving thumbnail as %@",[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/temp_thumb.png",docsDir]); UIImage *thumb = [self makeThumbnail:photo]; [UIImagePNGRepresentation(thumb) writeToFile:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/temp_thumb.png",docsDir] atomically:YES]; NSFileManager *manager = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; NSError *error; NSArray *files = [manager contentsOfDirectoryAtPath:docsDir error:&error]; NSLog(@"\n\nThere are %d files in the documents directory %@",(files.count),docsDir); for (int i = 0; i < files.count; i++) { NSString *filename = [files objectAtIndex:i]; NSLog(@"Seeing filename %@",filename); } // done //[photo release]; //[thumb release]; [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:NO]; [delegate textInputFinished]; } As you can see, I've put quite a bit of logging in here in an attempt to figure out my problem (which is coming up). The log output to this point is: Writing to /var/mobile/Applications/77D792DC-A224-4A47-8A4C-BB7C557626F3/Documents Saving photo as /var/mobile/Applications/77D792DC-A224-4A47-8A4C-BB7C557626F3/Documents/temp_photo.png Saving thumbnail as /var/mobile/Applications/77D792DC-A224-4A47-8A4C-BB7C557626F3/Documents/temp_thumb.png There are 3 files in the documents directory /var/mobile/Applications/77D792DC-A224-4A47-8A4C-BB7C557626F3/Documents Seeing filename temp_photo.png Seeing filename temp_text.txt Seeing filename temp_thumb.png This is absolutely as-expected. I clearly have three files on the device. Here's the very next code that operates - the code that received the textInputFinished message: - (void)textInputFinished { NSFileManager *fileManager = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; NSString *docsDir = [NSHomeDirectory() stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"Documents"]; NSError *error; // get next filename NSString *filename; int i = 0; do { i++; filename = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/reminder_%d",docsDir,i]; NSLog(@"Trying filename %@",filename); } while ([fileManager fileExistsAtPath:[filename stringByAppendingString:@".txt"]]); NSLog(@"New base filename is %@",filename); NSArray *files = [fileManager contentsOfDirectoryAtPath:docsDir error:&error]; NSLog(@"There are %d files in the directory %@",(files.count),docsDir); This is testing to get a new, non-temp, not-in-use filename. It does that - but then it says there aren't any files in the documents folder! Here's the logged output: Trying filename /var/mobile/Applications/77D792DC-A224-4A47-8A4C-BB7C557626F3/Documents/reminder_1 New base filename is /var/mobile/Applications/77D792DC-A224-4A47-8A4C-BB7C557626F3/Documents/reminder_1 There are 0 files in the directory /var/mobile/Applications/77D792DC-A224-4A47-8A4C-BB7C557626F3/Documents What the heck? Where did the three files go?

  • piecing together a jquery form mailer

    - by Joel
    Hi guys, My newbieness is shining through here...I managed to piece together a form mailer that works great, but now I need to add two more fields, and I'm at a loss as to how to do it. Over the months, I have commented out some things I didn't need, but now I'm stuck. I borrowed from this tutorial to make the original form: http://trevordavis.net/blog/tutorial/ajax-forms-with-jquery/ But then I cannibalized it to make an email signup form for a newsletter, so the fields I need are: recipient email (me-hard coded in) senders email address subject (hardcoded in) first name and city in the body of the message For my form, I have this: <div> <?php include('verify.php'); ?> <form action="index_success.php" method="post" id="sendEmail" class="email"> <h3 class="register2">Newsletter Signup:</h3> <ul class="forms email"> <li class="name"><label for="yourName">Name: </label> <input type="text" name="yourName" class="info" id="yourName" value=" " /><br> </li> <li class="city"><label for="yourCity">City: </label> <input type="text" name="yourCity" class="info" id="yourCity" value=" " /><br> </li> <li class="email"><label for="emailFrom">Email: </label> <input type="text" name="emailFrom" class="info" id="emailFrom" value="<?= $_POST['emailFrom']; ?>" /> <?php if(isset($emailFromError)) echo '<span class="error">'.$emailFromError.'</span>'; ?> </li> <li class="buttons email"> <button type="submit" id="submit">Send</button> <input type="hidden" name="submitted" id="submitted" value="true" /> </li> </ul> </form> </div> emailcontact.js: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#submit").click(function(){ $(".error").hide(); var hasError = false; var emailReg = /^([\w-\.]+@([\w-]+\.)+[\w-]{2,4})?$/; var emailFromVal = $("#emailFrom").val(); if(emailFromVal == '') { $("#emailFrom").after('<span class="error">You forgot to enter the email address to send from.</span>'); hasError = true; } else if(!emailReg.test(emailFromVal)) { $("#emailFrom").after('<span class="error">Enter a valid email address to send from.</span>'); hasError = true; } var subjectVal = $("#subject").val(); if(subjectVal == '') { $("#subject").after('<span class="error">You forgot to enter your name.</span>'); hasError = true; } var messageVal = $("#message").val(); if(messageVal == '') { $("#message").after('<span class="error">You forgot to enter your city.</span>'); hasError = true; } if(hasError == false) { $(this).hide(); $("#sendEmail li.buttons").append('<img src="/wp-content/themes/default/images/template/loading.gif" alt="Loading" id="loading" />'); $.post("/includes/sendemail.php", //emailTo: emailToVal, { emailFrom: emailFromVal, subject: subjectVal, message: messageVal }, function(data){ $("#sendEmail").slideUp("normal", function() { $("#sendEmail").before('<h3 class="register2">Success!</h3><p class="emailbox">You are on the Newsletter email list.</p>'); }); } ); } return false; }); }); sendmail.php: <?php $mailTo = $_POST['emailTo']; $mailFrom = $_POST['emailFrom']; $subject = $_POST['yourName']; $message = $_POST['yourCity']; mail('[email protected]','Rattletree Newsletter', 'Name='.$subject. ' City='.$message, "From: ".$mailFrom); ?> Thanks for any help! I'm going crosseyed trying to figure this one out.

  • Controller Action Methods with different signatures

    - by Narsil
    I am trying to get my URLs in files/id format. I am guessing I should have two Index methods in my controller, one with a parameter and one with not. But I get this error message in browser below. Anyway here is my controller methods: public ActionResult Index() { return Content("Index "); } // // GET: /Files/5 public ActionResult Index(int id) { File file = fileRepository.GetFile(id); if (file == null) return Content("Not Found"); else return Content(file.FileID.ToString()); } Error: Server Error in '/' Application. URLs have to be in files?id=3 format. I want files/3 routes from global.asax routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } // Parameter defaults ); //files/3 //it's the one I wrote routes.MapRoute("Files", "{controller}/{id}", new { controller = "Files", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional} ); I tried adding a new route after reading Jeff's post but I can't get it working. It still works with files?id=2 though.

  • MSDTC - Communication with the underlying transaction manager has failed (Firewall open, MSDTC netwo

    - by SocialAddict
    I'm having problems with my ASP.NET web forms system. It worked on our test server but now we are putting it live one of the servers is within a DMZ and the SQL server is outside of that (on our network still though - although a different subnet) I have open up the firewall completely between these two boxes to see if that was the issue and it still gives the error message "Communication with the underlying transaction manager has failed" whenever we try and use the "TransactionScope". We can access the data for retrieval it's just transactions that break it. We have also used msdtc ping to test the connection and with the amendments on the firewall that pings successfully, but the same error occurs! How do i resolve this error? Any help would be great as we have a system to go live today. Panic :) Edit: I have created a more straightforward test page with a transaction as below and this works fine. Could a nested transaction cause this kind of error and if so why would this only cause an issue when using a live box in a dmz with a firewall? AuditRepository auditRepository = new AuditRepository(); try { using (TransactionScope scope = new TransactionScope()) { auditRepository.Add(DateTime.Now, 1, "TEST-TRANSACTIONS#1", 1); auditRepository.Save(); auditRepository.Add(DateTime.Now, 1, "TEST-TRANSACTIONS#2", 1); auditRepository.Save(); scope.Complete(); } } catch (Exception ex) { Response.Write("Test Error For Transaction: " + ex.Message + "<br />" + ex.StackTrace); } This is the ErrorStack we are getting when the problem occurs: at System.Transactions.TransactionInterop.GetOletxTransactionFromTransmitterPropigationToken(Byte[] propagationToken) at System.Transactions.TransactionStatePSPEOperation.PSPEPromote(InternalTransaction tx) at System.Transactions.TransactionStateDelegatedBase.EnterState(InternalTransaction tx) at System.Transactions.EnlistableStates.Promote(InternalTransaction tx) at System.Transactions.Transaction.Promote() at System.Transactions.TransactionInterop.ConvertToOletxTransaction(Transaction transaction) at System.Transactions.TransactionInterop.GetExportCookie(Transaction transaction, Byte[] whereabouts) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.GetTransactionCookie(Transaction transaction, Byte[] whereAbouts) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.EnlistNonNull(Transaction tx) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.Enlist(Transaction tx) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnectionTds.Activate(Transaction transaction) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionInternal.ActivateConnection(Transaction transaction) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionPool.GetConnection(DbConnection owningObject) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionFactory.GetConnection(DbConnection owningConnection) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionClosed.OpenConnection(DbConnection outerConnection, DbConnectionFactory connectionFactory) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.Open() at System.Data.Linq.SqlClient.SqlConnectionManager.UseConnection(IConnectionUser user) at System.Data.Linq.SqlClient.SqlProvider.get_IsSqlCe() at System.Data.Linq.SqlClient.SqlProvider.InitializeProviderMode() at System.Data.Linq.SqlClient.SqlProvider.System.Data.Linq.Provider.IProvider.Execute(Expression query) at System.Data.Linq.ChangeDirector.StandardChangeDirector.DynamicInsert(TrackedObject item) at System.Data.Linq.ChangeDirector.StandardChangeDirector.Insert(TrackedObject item) at System.Data.Linq.ChangeProcessor.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at System.Data.Linq.DataContext.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at System.Data.Linq.DataContext.SubmitChanges() at RegBook.classes.DbBase.Save() at RegBook.usercontrols.BookingProcess.confirmBookingButton_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e)

  • ASP.NET MVC Html.ValidationSummary(true) does not display model errors

    - by msi
    I have some problem with Html.ValidationSummary. I don't want to display property errors in ValidationSummary. And when I set Html.ValidationSummary(true) it does not display error messages from ModelState. When there is some Exception in controller action on string MembersManager.RegisterMember(member); catch section adds an error to the ModelState: ModelState.AddModelError("error", ex.Message); But ValidationSummary does not display this error message. When I set Html.ValidationSummary(false) all messages are displaying, but I don't want to display property errors. How can I fix this problem? Here is the code I'm using: Model: public class Member { [Required(ErrorMessage = "*")] [DisplayName("Login:")] public string Login { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "*")] [DataType(DataType.Password)] [DisplayName("Password:")] public string Password { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "*")] [DataType(DataType.Password)] [DisplayName("Confirm Password:")] public string ConfirmPassword { get; set; } } Controller: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Register(Member member) { try { if (!ModelState.IsValid) return View(); MembersManager.RegisterMember(member); } catch (Exception ex) { ModelState.AddModelError("error", ex.Message); return View(member); } } View: <% using (Html.BeginForm("Register", "Members", FormMethod.Post, new { enctype = "multipart/form-data" })) {%> <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Login)%> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Login)%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Login)%> </p> <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Password)%> <%= Html.PasswordFor(model => model.Password)%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Password)%> </p> <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.ConfirmPassword)%> <%= Html.PasswordFor(model => model.ConfirmPassword)%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.ConfirmPassword)%> </p> <div> <input type="submit" value="Create" /> </div> <%= Html.ValidationSummary(true)%> <% } %>

  • NSFetchedResultsController fetch request - updating predicate and UITableView

    - by Macatomy
    In my iPhone Core Data app I have it configured in a master-detail view setup. The master view is a UITableView that lists objects of the List entity. The List entity has a to-many relationship with the Task entity (called "tasks"), and the Task entity has an inverse to-one relationship with List called "list". When a List object is selected in the master view, I want the detail view (another UITableView) to list the Task objects that correspond to that List object. What I've done so far is this: In the detail view controller I've declared a property for a List object: @property (nonatomic, retain) List *list; Then in the master view controller I use this table view delegate method to set the list property of the detail view controller when a list is selected: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)aTableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSManagedObject *selectedObject = [[self fetchedResultsController] objectAtIndexPath:indexPath]; detailViewController.list = (List*)selectedObject; } Then, I've overriden the setter for the list property in the detail view controller like this: - (void)setList:(List*)newList { if (list != newList) { [list release]; list = [newList retain]; NSPredicate *newPredicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"(list == %@)", list]; [NSFetchedResultsController deleteCacheWithName:@"Root"]; [[[self fetchedResultsController] fetchRequest] setPredicate:newPredicate]; NSError *error = nil; if (![[self fetchedResultsController] performFetch:&error]) { NSLog(@"Unresolved error %@, %@", error, [error userInfo]); abort(); } } } What I'm doing here is setting a predicate on the fetched results to filter out the objects so that I only get the ones that belong to the selected List object. The fetchedResultsController getter for the detail view controller looks like this: - (NSFetchedResultsController *)fetchedResultsController { if (fetchedResultsController == nil) { NSFetchRequest *fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Task" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [fetchRequest setEntity:entity]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"FALSEPREDICATE"]; [fetchRequest setPredicate:predicate]; NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [fetchRequest setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"Root"]; aFetchedResultsController.delegate = self; self.fetchedResultsController = aFetchedResultsController; [aFetchedResultsController release]; [fetchRequest release]; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; } return fetchedResultsController; } Its almost unchanged from the default in the Core Data project template, the change I made is to add a predicate that always returns false, the reason being that when there is no List selected I don't want any items to be displayed in the detail view (if a list is selected the predicate is changed in the setter for the list property). However, when I select a list item, nothing really happens. Nothing in the table view changes, it stays empty. I'm sure my logic is flawed in several places, advice is appreciated Thanks
