  • setting mailx default smtp relay

    I heave searched Google for this and cannot seem to find a soloution I have bsd-mailx on my server and it sends mail just fine However I wished to have a development environment at home. I need mailx such that php can use its mail function. However the mail is failing to resolve the domain name @gmail.com I am aware that my ISP talk talk may be blocking this is they have a mail server smtp.talktalk.net I assume I would have to add somthing to /etc/mail.rc and use heirloom maEdit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing ilx not bsd-mailx,,but would still need to set default smtp relay Im on ubuntu 12.4 thankyou Edit turned out I had a instance of send mail running that was doing weird things.. after killing that, I was able to add the smtp relay, but its now saying that the sender domain does not work. I assume this domain has to route back the the same machine the mail originated from. as i dont have a domain for my home address.

  • Best way to convert from IMAP to POP3?

    At work, I connect to a corporate Exchange server via IMAP and Thunderbird 3. Over the course of a year or so, I've created quite a few folders on the server and have a lot of mail stored there. I'm hitting the storage limit of my mail account and want to convert to pulling mail down to my local box (running Linux) via POP3. I know that polling mail will only get mail in INBOX, but I'm wondering if there are solutions out there that could be used to pull mail from the other folders as well, or am I doomed to moving mail into the inbox manually and polling over and over again?

  • Windows7 home 64bit + Outlook 2010, multiple non-concurrent users

    We have one windows computer shared by eight people. I have set up separate login accounts for each user. One account has administrative privileges, the others are standard users. We installed Outlook 2010 with the intention that each user could access their own email separately, without seeing the mail of other users. This has not worked as we intended. When the administrator logs in to each standard user account and starts the outlook mail setup, he is prompted for the administrative password, and then sets up the mail account. When accessing the outlook mail program after setup, each mail account shows as a separate tab in a communal inbox, rather than a separate mail box for each user. How would we accomplish the desired separation of Outlook mail accounts? Thanks for your advice Jim T.

  • How can I handle unread push notifications in iOS?

    I have a iOS 5.1 application that registers to the APNS service to receive notifications. The register is successful and I receive the notifications correctly. The problem comes when I try to handle the notifications. Once the application is running, the method didReceiveRemoteNotification in the AppDelegate is called correctly and so the notification is handled as intended. This, however, only happens when the application is running on the foreground. However, when the application is running on the background or is simply stopped, that method is not called. I've read that you should add some lines to the method didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method to obtain the notification from the userInfo dictionary, and handle it. This works just fine, but ONLY when the application is opened by clicking on the notification at the Notification Center. This means that if you open the application by clicking on its badge, or simply by changing context if you were running it on the background, the app never realises that a notification came in. Additionally, if more than one notification was received, we can only handle one of them at once by clicking on the Notification Center, which is a pain :-) Is there any way to read the pending notifications in the Notification Center? I know there is a way to flush them using the method cancelAllLocalNotifications but I haven't found a way to just read them. And I really need to handle all of them. I thought of implementing a communication protocol with the third-party notification server to retrieve the information again when the application comes to the foreground, but since the information is already in the operating system I would find it strange if it's impossible to access it somehow. So, does anybody know a way to do it? Thanks in advance.

    There is good documentation out there on testing ActionMailer send methods which deliver mail. But I'm unable to figure out how to test a receive method that is used to parse incoming mail.     I previous had both Web and Mail on the same server and for each of my vhosts/domains, I could visit example.com/mail or foo.com/mail which would display the Roundcube Webmail across all vhosts. E.g Alias /mail "/usr/share/apache2/roundcub/" Although now I have moved the Mail server onto a completely different server and now have a SSL for the main domain. https://mail.example.com which is now the new location of Roundcube for all vhosts/domains. Question: is it possible to redirect all alias for "/mail" from the Web server to the new URL?

    In our mail server there are multiple virtual email domain hosted. User can use webmail.example.com (this is the first apache virtualhost) to check mail or they can use mail.THEIR-DOMAIN.com. If the put mail.THEIR-DOMAIN.com apache shows the webmail.example.com as it is the first virtualhost and mail.THEIR-DOMAIN.com doesn't exist. Recently we imposed https for webmail.example.com and added this mod_rewrite rule: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} But now users not getting the default webmail page as they were getting before. How can we redirect all request coming to the URL "mail.ANY-DOMAIN.com" to "https://webmail.example.com"?   • Cisco Pix how to add an additional block of static ip addresses for nat?

    I have a pix 501 with 5 static ip addresses. My isp just gave me 5 more. I am trying to figure out how to add the new block and then how to nat/open at least one of them to an inside machine.   • Exchange 2003 mail non-delivery (NDR), spam activity? events 7002 & 7004

    Windows Server 2003 Small Business Server SP2 Exchange Version 6.5 (Build 7638.2: Service Pack 2) This network has been neglected and has been having email problems for years and was on many blacklists. I was called in after the server eventually crashed... I got the server back up and running, but email problems persist. Outgoing mail delivery is sporadic. Sometimes the mail goes through, sometimes a delayed delivery report is generated after a day or more, and sometimes it seems to go through, but the recipient never receives it. Not sure if spammers are successfully using the server as a relay (see event entries below after turning on maximum SMTP logging)... User PCs infected with viruses and server was blacklisted on many sites (I used mxtoolbox.com) I have cleaned all the PCs and changed all passwords (including administrator) I have requested removal from all of the blacklists - most have removed the listing, some take more time. I have setup rDNS pointer records with the ISP (Comcast) - that was one reason for some of the blacklistings. I have tested that it's not an open relay using telnet as described here: www.amset.info/exchange/smtp-openrelay.asp I followed the advise of a Spamhaus & Microsoft article to enable maximum SMTP logging. http://www.spamhaus.org/faq/answers.lasso?section=isp%20spam%20issues#320 which directed me to Microsoft KB article 895853, specifically, the part 2/3 down titled: "If mail relay occurs from an account on an Exchange computer that is not configured as an open relay" . The Application Event Log is filling with this type of activity (Event ID 7002, 7002 & 3018 errors): Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeTransport Event Category: SMTP Protocol Event ID: 7004 Date: 1/18/2011 Time: 7:33:29 AM User: N/A Computer: SERVER Description: This is an SMTP protocol error log for virtual server ID 1, connection #621.     .net System.Net.Mail does not issue SMTP quit commands in version 3.5 or lower. Although the problem is fixed in .net v4.0 RTM, unfortunately v4.0 cannot handle attachments in an email larger than 3-4MB's so I can't use it in my solution. I was thinking of maybe rolling back to the now outdated CDonts found in System.Web.Mail. Can anyone confirm if CDonts mailing routines explicitly issues SMTP Quit commands?
