  • Spam link text when searching for company directors' name

    - by Alex
It was brought to my attention that if you search for the name of one of our directors (with the intent to find there profile page on our site) They come up as the first link in most search engines as you would expect but the link text is just pure spam. the three search string I have tested on Google, Bing, Ask, and Yahoo have all returned similar results. Here is a list of the search strings: Paolo rossi futex Mark rossi futex Marco rossi futex Dan Goldberg futex Any idea what might be causing this I have searched through as much of the sites code as I can and cant find anything wrong with it.

  • Index independent character comparison within text blocks

    - by Michael IV
I have the following task: developing a program where there is a block of sample text which should be typed by user. Any typos the user does during the test are registered. Basically, I can compare each typed char with the sample char based on caret index position of the input, but there is one significant flaw in such a "naive" approach. If the user typed mistakenly more letters than a whole string has, or inserted more white spaces between the string than should be, then the rest of the comparisons will be wrong because of the index offsets added by the additional wrong insertions. I have thought of designing some kind of parser where each string (or even a char ) is tokenized and the comparisons are made "char-wise" and not "index-wise," but that seems to me like an overkill for such a task. I would like to get a reference to possibly existing algorithms which can be helpful in solving this kind of problem.

  • Chrome and Catalyst - no tab text

    - by Martin Fejes
I just installed Ubuntu, updated, installed AMD proprietary drivers (for my Radeon HD6870) and noticed that some (most) of the tabs in Google Chrome don't have text, only the favicon. My first idea was that maybe 13.10 may have some issues with the new drivers so I switched to the normal driver instead of the beta one. It was not good. Okay then, I put back the open source drivers. It worked. Okay, it's strange. Let's install Ubuntu Gnome to see if it's Unity. No it was not. Let's install Ubuntu 13.04. Same behavoir. By this time I was desperate. I installed Fedora, the problem was there. Now I'm back to Ubuntu 13.10, but am out of ideas. Could anyone help me, please? P.s.: I can upload a screenshot, if needed.

  • Good library for search text tokenization

    - by Chris Dutrow
Looking to tokenize some text in the same or similar way in which a search engine would do it. The reason we are doing this is so that we can run some statistical analysis on the tokens. The language we are using is python, so would prefer a library in that language, but could probably set something up to use another language if necessary. Example Original token: We have some great burritos! More simplified: (remove plurals and punctuation) We have some great burrito Even more simplified: (remove superfluous words) great burrito Best: (recognize positive and negative meaning): burrito -positive-

  • Split a text file by its entries

    - by Alexx Hardt
Hi, I'm trying to analyze an enormous text file (1.6GB), whose data lines look like this: 20090118025859 -2.400000 78.100000 1023.200000 0.000000 20090118025900 -2.500000 78.100000 1023.200000 0.000000 20090118025901 -2.400000 78.100000 1023.200000 0.000000 I don't even know how many lines there are. But I'm trying to split the file by date. The left number is a time stamp (these lines are from 2009, January 18th). How can I split this file into pieces according to the date? Everything I know would be to grep file '20090118*' > data20090118.dat , but there sure is a way to do all the dates at once, right? The number of entries per date differ, so using split with a constant number won't work. Thanks in advance, Alex

  • Tracking AdWord ads with different text in Google Analytics

    - by at01
I'm trying to see how the text in my Google AdWords ads affects my metrics in Analytics. I have auto-linking enabled, so I figured I would be able to automatically see this in Analytics. Unfortunately, if I try to add a second dimension of Traffic Sources-Ad Content, the metrics are only split by the ad's Headline. Most of my tests are changing only the ads' descriptions... So I guess I need to add a tracking parameter like ?campaign=special_text to my URLs? Or is there a way to see the ads split by ad descriptions? Should I add the full suite of utm_campaign/utm_medium/etc parameters? What's the proper way to track these ads which are mostly similar except the ad descriptions?

  • Problem with text deletion in vi editor

    - by user184256
When I am writing C code on the vi editor, I am not able to use the backspace keys or my arrow keys to delete or navigate through lines. Some unexpected special characters occur on the screen that is on middle of my code and I am not able to delete them also. If I use my delete key, the whole code gets deleted. I have tried both insert mode using 'i' and 'a'. I am able to manage this situation for C programming by using the text editors but when I am creating LeX and yacc programs, I find this awkward. Can you please help me with this?

  • Sorting a REALLY BIG delimited text file in UNIX / VMS [closed]

    - by gunbuster363
Hi everyone, I am going to sort a REALLY BIG delimited text file, say 250Mb (or a bunch of files of more or less than 250Mb) . It have 37 fields, and I need to sort it by 5 fields, for example 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th 7th fields. Under Unix / VMS, do I have a good option to do this FAST? I can write COBOL program. Now I am trying to sort them using the below command, but it already run for a long time and just not going to finished. Thank you. • 13.04 gnome problem with drag and drop and text selection

    - by Laurent BERNABE
I have an ubuntu 13.04 gnome 64 bits, but since a few days I am facing serious problem for doing simple drag an drop : in nautilus, in eclipse, in the browser. Also I can't manage to select text areas with the mouse (the only way I found is to double click on the first word, then expand selection with shift and arrows keys). I noticed that often, after having started a drag n drop, it is cancelled though I did not release the left mouse ! It is as if for each simple mouse clic : two was done ! My graphic card is an ati radeon hd 4330, and I had installed the default purposed driver. I don't know if I should give you results from some terminal commands, as I don't know which could be useful. Thanks in advance.

  • Using shortkeys to search the internet for a term selected in a text editor/viewer

    - by cipricus
It seems possible (as I learned from a comment to this question made by user55822) to use a command in order to search a term on the web by using "keybinding" the way Aretha is used. What the aforementioned user says is that "you could search mouse selection anywhere by using an app like Artha, or by keybinding sh -c 'firefox "http://translate.google.com/#en/fr/$(xclip -o)"' (example given translate english into french)" A lot of things are obscure for me here. I could use Artha or keybinding (as alternative), or both? How to do that in each case? and "The command I gave you will open google translate in Firefox with your mouse selection (text highlighted) as a query. Use sh -c 'firefox "https://www.google.com/search?q=$(xclip -o)"' if you want regular Google over Google translate. And obviously, that would work everywhere" I do not know what to do with that formula. What should I do exactly? How to use it? In what application?

  • Menus and text boxes look graphically corrupted in 12.10

    - by Stanton.Sculpture
If I let my computer run long enough the screen gets glitchy or graphically corrupted only in certain areas i.e. in text related boxes, menus, menu bars, scroll bars, the system monitor window, etc. It becomes difficult to read what I am typing. Its been happening quite often and I can only fix it by restarting the computer, but its only a matter of time before it happens again. Don't know what else to do, its been a thorn in my side for quite some time now and I need a fix soon because its only gets more frequent until I'm rebooting my computer five times a day. I attached a picture of what happens to this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1083474 I know I can repeat this bug but I don't know how to catch it and document it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

  • Working with logout dialog box - text error

    - by aaron.kyle
I am having a problem with the shutdown dialog box for Ubuntu 12.04. If I am logged in as any user and press shutdown, I see the box with the question 'Are you sure..." and its usual options. Shutting down when I am not logged in as a specific user, however, displayed only square boxes. An image of this error can be found here: I believe this error started a few weeks ago when i accidentally changed the group for my root system directory, so it might be a permission thing or an improperly assigned group lingering somewhere. The trouble is that I don't know where the text for this box is stored, and no idea where to begin checking. Can any one point me in the right direction?

  • Full-text search locks up database - error 0x8001010e

    - by Stewart May
Hi We have a full-text catalog that is populated via a job every 15 minutes like so: ALTER FULLTEXT INDEX ON [dbo].[WorkItemLongTexts] START INCREMENTAL POPULATION We have encountered a problem where the database containing this catalog locks up. There are a couple of scenarios, we either see the job execute and the process hang with with a wait type of UNKNOWN TOKEN, or we see another process hang with a wait type of MSSEARCH. Once this happens the job continues to run but informs us that the request to start a full-text index population is ignored because a population is currently active. Looking in the full text log files we see the following error each time these problems occur: 2010-04-21 08:15:00.76 spid21s The full-text catalog health monitor reported a failure for full-text catalog "XXXFullTextCatalog" (5) in database "YYY" (14). Reason code: 0. Error: 0x8001010e(The application called an interface that was marshalled for a different thread.). The system will restart any in-progress population from the previous checkpoint. If this message occurs frequently, consult SQL Server Books Online for troubleshooting assistance. This is an informational message only. No user action is required."'' The only solution is to restart the SQL Server service and then the full text service. This is now occuring on a daily basis now so any help would be appreciated.

  • Issue in Webscrapping in C# : Downloading and parsing zipped text files

    - by user64094
I am writing an webscrapper, to do the download content from a website. Traversing to the website/URL, triggers the creation of a temporary URL. This new URL has a zipped text file. This zipped file is to be downloaded and parsed. I have written a scrapper in C# using WebClient and its function - DownloadFileAsync(). The zipped file is read from the designated location on a trapped DownloadFileCompleted event. My issue : The Windows 'Open/Save dialog is triggered". This requires user input and the automation is disrupted. Can you suggest a way to bypass the issue ? I am cool with rewriting the code using any alternate libraries. :) Thanks for reading,

  • Amazon Careers website - are resumes processed in plain text format only?

    - by sapphiremirage
The submission site has the following options: "Please upload your resume (Word Document, max size: 512 KB) OR Please copy and paste the text version of your file here", with a text box below the latter option. I went ahead and uploaded my shiny LaTeX resume (as a PDF), despite the fact that they seem to want a Word Document, and there didn't seem to be any issues. However, when I went back to edit my profile, there was no evidence that my PDF had been uploaded, other than a text version of my resume, awfully formatted and clearly stripped from the PDF, sitting in the text box below "Please copy and paste the text version of your file here". Exasperated, I did a quick and dirty copy of the text from my resume into a Word doc and uploaded that. Same result: no evidence of a file uploaded, just a stripped text version in the textbox. What I'm wondering now is, are they only going to look at the text version of my resume? If that's the case then I'm obviously going to edit it so that it looks halfway decent and doesn't contain such atrocities from the conversion as "Other Skills: LTEX". I can pretty little text files without too much effort, so this isn't that big of deal. However, my LaTeX resume is going to look better than anything I can do in plain text, so if the site is actually keeping a copy of that, then I certainly don't want to override it. Has anyone here either gone through the Amazon hiring process or interviewed candidates and know how this works? (i.e. When on site with Amazon, did the interviewers have diversely formatted resumes, or did they all look suspiciously similar)

  • Cost of Web Server that hosted and delivered text only

    - by slandau
We are developing an application that needs a web server to interact with the two (or more) entities involved. They will not ever see anything on the web, but the server is required for the transfer of data between them. It's sort of a holding point. Now, the only thing the server is going to be holding is textual data. The two entities are going to be doing the work with the data. I was wondering what the cost of this type of server would be. Since it would be JUST a database with no front end, would it make sense to employ a service through Amazon or Google that just holds data for me to access instead of buying a server and making my own database? The amount of data can grow very large however it's only text, and all data over a day old will be deleted for the most part every day. Thanks!

  • Point and click synonym replacement in text area with Javascript

    - by SilentD
I am trying to create a site that will allow you to type a sentence or passage of text, then click on words to bring up a list of synonyms (from an online API) and possibly authorized abbreviations from a list that I provide, then once clicked on it would replace that word with the word that was clicked on. It would function kind of like After the Deadline or a Javascript based spell checker. Are there any libraries set up to make something like this easy, or what kind of Javascript do I need to be looking at? Are there any tutorials or examples for this kind of thing? I am aware that the source code for After the Deadline is available, but I only need a small portion of their technology, not all of the actual grammar and spelling check technology.

  • Long lines of text in source code [closed]

    - by ale
Possible Duplicate: Is the 80 character limit still relevant in times of widescreen monitors? I used to set a vertical line set at 80 characters in my text editor and then I added carriage returns if the lines got too long. I later increased the value to 135 characters. I started using word wrap and not giving myself a limit but tried to keep lines short if I could because it took a lot of time shortening my lines. People at work use word wrap and don't give themselves a limit.. is this the correct way? What are you meant to do ? Many thanks.

  • What framework for text rating site?

    - by problemofficer
I want to start a "rate my"-style site. The rated objects are mostly texts. I want it to be rather simple. Features I need: object rating (thumb up, thumb down) object comments object tags related object presentation based on tags user authentication and management private message system sanity checks for text inputs (i.e. prevention of code injections) cache open source runs on GNU/Linux I would gladly take something that is tailored for my scenario but a generic framework would be fine too. I simply don't want to write stuff like user authentication that is been written a million times and risking security flaws. Programming language is irrelevant but python/php preferred.

  • Force SSRS 2008 to use SSRS 2005 CSV rendering

    - by Kash
We are upgrading our report server from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008 R2. I have an issue with CSV export rendering for SSRS 2008 where the SUM of columns are appearing on the right side of the detail values in 2008 instead of the left side like in 2005 as shown in the below blocks. 117 and 131 are the sums of Column2 and Column3 respectively. SSRS 2005 CSV Output Column2_1,Column3_1,Column2,Column3 117,131,1,2 117,131,1,2 117,131,60,23 117,131,30,15 117,131,25,89 SSRS 2008 CSV Output Column2,Column3,Column2_1,Column3_1 1,2,117,131 1,2,117,131 60,23,117,131 30,15,117,131 25,89,117,131 I understand that the CSV renderer has gone through major changes in SSRS 2008 R2 with the support for charts and gauges and more importantly it provides 2 modes: the default Excel mode and Compliant mode. But neither mode helps fix this issue. The Compliant mode was supposed to be closest to that of 2005 but apparently it is not close enough for my case. My Question: Is there a way to force SSRS 2008 fall back a report to a backward compatibility mode so that it exports into a 2005 CSV format? Solution tried: a) Using 2005-based CRIs Based on this article on ExecutionLog2, if SSRS 2008 R2 encounters a report whose auto-upgrade is not possible (e.g. reports that were built with 2005-based CustomReportItem controls), those particular reports will be processed with the old Yukon engine in a "transparent backwards-compatibility mode". It seems like it falls back to its previous version mode (2005) and attempts to render it. So I tried using a 2005-based barcode CustomReportItem and deployed to a SSRS 2008 R2 report server, but it shows the same result as before though it suppressed the barcode. This would be because SSRS 2008 R2 finds a way to suppress part of the report output and displays the rest. It would be great to find a 2005-based CRI that makes SSRS 2008 R2 process it with its old Yukon engine. Please note that quite possibly, even if it uses the "old Yukon processing engine", it might still use the new CSV renderer hence it shows the same output. If that is true, then this option is moot. b) Using XML renderer We can use a custom XML renderer and then use XSLT to convert the xml to appropriate CSV but this would mean that we need to convert all our 200 reports. Hence this is not feasible. Please note that we do not have the option of having SSRS 2005 and SSRS 2008 R2 deployed side by side.

  • fresh_when in ruby not working with xml rendering

    - by Guilherme Silveira
    While trying to implement support for conditional GETting in a rest system, we have come across the fresh_when and stale? methods. The following code works fine with 304 and not further rendering: if stale?(:etag = resource, :last_modified = resource.updated_at.utc) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb } end end But accessing 1.xml will try to render the resource twice: if stale?(:etag => resource, :last_modified => resource.updated_at.utc) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @order.to_xml(:controller => self, :except => [:paid_at]) } end end The error message: ActionController::DoubleRenderError in OrdersController#show Can only render or redirect once per action RAILS_ROOT: /Users/guilherme/Documents/ruby/restfulie-test Application Trace | Framework Trace | Full Trace /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:900:in render_without_benchmark' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/benchmarking.rb:51:in render' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:17:in ms' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:10:in realtime' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:17:in ms' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/benchmarking.rb:51:in render' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:1331:in send' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:1331:in perform_action_without_filters' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/filters.rb:617:in call_filters' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/filters.rb:610:in perform_action_without_benchmark' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/benchmarking.rb:68:in perform_action_without_rescue' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:17:in ms' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:10:in realtime' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.4/lib/active_support/core_ext/benchmark.rb:17:in ms' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/benchmarking.rb:68:in perform_action_without_rescue' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/rescue.rb:160:in perform_action_without_flash' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/flash.rb:146:in perform_action' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:532:in send' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:532:in process_without_filters' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/filters.rb:606:in process' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:391:in process' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/base.rb:386:in call' /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.4/lib/action_controller/routing/route_set.rb:437:in `call' Any suggestions? The font is rendered - apparently - off-by-one. For instance the text: "By" woukd appear as "Cz" Has anyone run into this before? And - more importantly - knows how to fix this?
