  • Get count matches in query on large table very slow

    - by Roy Roes
    I have a mysql table "items" with 2 integer fields: seid and tiid The table has about 35000000 records, so it's very large. seid tiid ----------- 1 1 2 2 2 3 2 4 3 4 4 1 4 2 The table has a primary key on both fields, an index on seid and an index on tiid. Someone types in 1 or more tiid values and now I would like to get the seid with most results. For example when someone types 1,2,3, I would like to get seid 2 and 4 as result. They both have 2 matches on the tiid values. My query so far: SELECT COUNT(*) as c, seid FROM items WHERE tiid IN (1,2,3) GROUP BY seid HAVING c = (SELECT COUNT(*) as c, seid FROM items WHERE tiid IN (1,2,3) GROUP BY seid ORDER BY c DESC LIMIT 1) But this query is extremly slow, because of the large table. Does anyone know how to construct a better query for this purpose?

  • Oracle 10g multiple DELETE statements

    - by bmw0128
    I'm building a dml file that first deletes records that may be in the table, then inserts records. Example: DELETE from foo where field1='bar'; DELETE from foo where fields1='bazz'; INSERT ALL INTO foo(field1, field2) values ('bar', 'x') INTO foo(field1, field2) values ('bazz', 'y') SELECT * from DUAL; When I run the insert statement by itself, it runs fine. When I run the deletes, only the last delete runs. Also, it seems to be necessary to end the multiple insert with the select, is that so? If so, why is that necessary? In the past, when using MySQL, I could just list multiple delete and insert statements, all individually ending with a semicolon, and it would run fine.

  • Access: Expression too complex to be evaluated

    - by user2502964
    I'm trying to sort out values from a database by the weekending date. The script I'm using functions on 6 of my 7 databases (they are all constructed identically). The 7th database doesn't function. I get the expression too complex error. any help figuring out why?? Here is my code: SELECT UPC_Test.Type, UPC_Test.[Model No], UPC_Test.[Model Desc], UPC_Test.[Serial No], Format(DateValue([UPC_Test].[Test Date]+7-Weekday([UPC_Test].[Test Date],0)),"m/d/yyyy") AS [Test Date], UPC_Test.Parameter, UPC_Test.[Failure Symptom], UPC_Test.[Repair Action], UPC_Test.[Factory Select], UPC_Test.[Test Station] FROM UPC_Test GROUP BY UPC_Test.Type, UPC_Test.[Model No], UPC_Test.[Model Desc], UPC_Test.[Serial No], Format(DateValue([UPC_Test].[Test Date]+7-Weekday([UPC_Test].[Test Date],0)),"m/d/yyyy"), UPC_Test.Parameter, UPC_Test.[Failure Symptom], UPC_Test.[Repair Action], UPC_Test.[Factory Select], UPC_Test.[Test Station] HAVING (((UPC_Test.Type)="Production") AND ((Format(DateValue([UPC_Test].[Test Date]+7-Weekday([UPC_Test].[Test Date],0)),"m/d/yyyy"))=[Enter]) AND ((UPC_Test.[Failure Symptom])<>"") AND ((UPC_Test.[Repair Action])<>"") AND ((UPC_Test.[Test Station])="UPC RF Test")) ORDER BY Format(DateValue([UPC_Test].[Test Date]+7-Weekday([UPC_Test].[Test Date],0)),"m/d/yyyy");

  • Return multiple IDs from a function and use the result in a query

    - by NewK
    I have this function that returns me all children of a tree node: CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION fn_category_get_childs_v2(id_pai integer) RETURNS integer[] AS $BODY$ DECLARE ids_filhos integer array; BEGIN SELECT array ( SELECT category_id FROM category WHERE category_id IN ( (WITH RECURSIVE parent AS ( SELECT category_id , parent_id from category WHERE category_id = id_pai UNION ALL SELECT t.category_id , t.parent_id FROM parent INNER JOIN category t ON parent.category_id = t.parent_id ) SELECT category_id FROM parent WHERE category_id <> id_pai ) ) ) into ids_filhos; return ids_filhos; END; and I would like to use it in a select statement like this: select * from teste1_elements where category_id in (select * from fn_category_get_childs_v2(12)) I've also tried this way with the same result: select * from teste1_elements where category_id=any(select * from fn_category_get_childs_v2(12))) But I get the following error: ERROR: operator does not exist: integer = integer[] LINE 1: select * from teste1_elements where category_id in (select *... ^ HINT: No operator matches the given name and argument type(s). You might need to add explicit type casts. The function returns an integer array, is that the problem? SELECT * from fn_category_get_childs_v2(12) retrieves the following array (integer[]): '{30,32,34,20,19,18,17,16,15,14}'

  • MySQL Limiting a query to one consistent value

    - by Lucas Matos
    My current query returns a table like: +------------+ value1 | .... value1 | .... value2 | .... value3 | .... +------------+ I want: +------------+ value1 | .... value1 | .... +------------+ I want to only receive all rows with the first value. Normally I would do a WHERE clause if I knew that value, and I cannot use a LIMIT because each value has a different number of rows. Right now My query looks like "SELECT u.*, n.something, w.* FROM ... AS u, ... AS n, ... AS w WHERE u.id = n.id AND w.val = n.val AND u.desc LIKE '%GET REQUEST VARIABLE%';" This works great, except I get way too many rows and using PHP to do this ruins code portability and is superfluous. • Beginner Ques::How to delete records permanently in case of linked tables?

    - by Serenity
    Let's say I have these 2 tables QuesType and Ques:- QuesType QuestypeID|QuesType |Active ------------------------------------ 101 |QuesType1 |True 102 |QuesType2 |True 103 |XXInActiveXX |False Ques QuesID|Ques|Answer|QUesTypeID|Active ------------------------------------ 1 |Ques1|Ans1 |101 |True 2 |Ques2|Ans2 |102 |True 3 |Ques3|Ans3 |101 |True In the QuesType Table:- QuesTypeID is a Primary key In the Ques Table:- QuesID is a Primary key and QuesType ID is the Foreign Key that refernces QuesTypeID from QuesType Table Now I am unable to delete records from QuesType Table, I can only make QuesType inactive by setting Active=False. I am unable to delete QuesTypes permanently because of the Foreign key relation it has with Ques Table. So , I just set the column Active=false and those Questypes then don't show on my grid wen its binded. What I want to do is be able to delete any QuesType permamnently. Now it can only be deleted if its not being used anywhere in the Ques table, right? So to delete any QuesType permanently I thot this is what I could do:- In the grid that displays QuesTypes, I have this check box for Active and a button for delete.What I thot was, when a user makes some QuesType inactive then OnCheckChanged() event will run and that will have the code to delete all the Questions in Ques table that are using that QuesTypeID. Then on the QuesType grid, that QuesType would show as Deactivated and only then can a user delete it permanently. Am I thinking correctly? Currently in my DeleteQuesType Stored Procedure what I am doing is:- Setting the Active=false and Setting QuesTye= some string like XXInactiveXX Is there any other way?

  • ASP.MVC ModelBinding Behaviour

    - by OldBoy
    This one has me stumped, despite the numerous posts on here. The scenario is a basic MVC(2) web application with simple CRUD operations. Whenever the edit form is submitted and the UpdateModel() called, an exception is thrown: System.Data.Linq.ForeignKeyReferenceAlreadyHasValueException was unhandled by user code This occurs against a DropDownList value which is a foreign key on the entity table. However, there is another DropDownList list on the form, representing another foreign key, which does not throw the error (unsurprisingly). Changing the property values manually inside the Edit Action: Recipe recipe = repository.GetRecipe(int.Parse(formValues["recipeid"])); recipe.CategoryId = Convert.ToInt32(formValues["CategoryId"].ToString()); recipe.Page = int.Parse(formValues["Page"].ToString()); recipe.PublicationId=Convert.ToInt32(formValues["PublicationId"].ToString()); Allows the CategoryId and Page properties to be updated, and then the error is thrown on the PublicationId. All of the referential integrity is checked an the same in the db and the dbml. Any light shed on this would be most welcome.

  • Get top 'n' records by report_id

    - by Skudd
    I have a simple view in my MSSQL database. It consists of the following fields: report_id INT ym VARCHAR -- YYYY-MM keyword VARCHAR(MAX) visits INT I can easily get the top 10 keyword hits with the following query: SELECT TOP 10 * FROM top_keywords WHERE ym BETWEEN '2010-05' AND '2010-05' ORDER BY visits DESC Now where it gets tricky is where I have to get the top 10 records for each report_id in the given date range (ym BETWEEN @start_date AND @end_date). How would I go about getting the top 10 for each report_id? I've stumbled across suggestions involving the use of ROW_NUMBER() and RANK(), but have been vastly unsuccessful in their implementation.

  • INSERT 0..n records into table 'A' based on content of table 'B' in MySql 5

    - by Robert Gowland
    Using MySql 5, I have a task where I need to update one table based on the contents of another table. For example, I need to add 'A1' to table 'A' if table 'B' contains 'B1'. I need to add 'A2a' and 'A2b' to table 'A' if table 'B' contains 'B2', etc.. In our case, the value in table 'B' we're interested is an enum. Right now I have a stored procedure containing a series of statements like: INSERT INTO A SELECT 'A1' FROM B WHERE B.Value = 'B1'; --Repeat for 'B2' -> 'A2a'; 'B2' -> 'A2b'; 'B3' -> 'A3', etc... Is there a nicer more DRY way of accomplishing this? Edit: There may be values in table 'B' that have no equivalent value for table 'A'.

  • How to create unique user key

    - by Grayson Mitchell
    Scenario: I have a fairly generic table (Data), that has an identity column. The data in this table is grouped (lets say by city). The users need an identifier in order for printing on paper forms, etc. The users can only access their cites data, so if they use the identity column for this purpose they will see odd numbers (e.g. a 'New York' user might see 1,37,2028... as the listed keys. Idealy they would see 1,2,3... (or something similar) The problem of course is concurrency, this being a web application you can't just have something like: UserId = Select Count(*)+1 from Data Where City='New York' Has anyone come up with any cunning ways around this problem?

  • How can I find all records for a model without doing a long list of "OR" conditions?

    - by gomezuk
    I'm having trouble composing a CakePHP find() which returns the records I'm looking for. My associations go like this: User -(has many)- Friends , User -(has many)- Posts I'm trying to display a list of all a user's friends recent posts, in other words, list every post that was created by a friend of the current user logged in. The only way I can think of doing this is by putting all the user's friends' user_ids in a big array, and then looping through each one, so that the find() call would look something like: $posts = $this->Post->find('all',array( 'conditions' => array( 'Post.user_id' => array( 'OR' => array( $user_id_array[0],$user_id_array[1],$user_id_array[2] # .. etc ) ) ) )); I get the impression this isn't the best way of doing things as if that user is popular that's a lot of OR conditions. Can anyone suggest a better alternative?

    I'm trying to restart the service from a remote machine. Here is my code. The problem is that I need to enter startinfo.filename = "sc.exe" since I'm putting "start /wait sc" this is causing an error. Here is my code, any thoughts. Also if anyone has any idea how to keep the cmd window open after this is ran so I could see the code that was ran that would be awesome. string strCommandStop1; string strCommandStop2; string strCommandStart1; string strCommandStart2; string strServer = "\\" + txtServerName.Text; string strDb1 = "SqlAgent$" + txtInsName.Text; string strDb2 = "MSSQL$" + txtInsName.Text; strCommandStop1 = @"start /wait sc " + strServer + " Stop " + strDb1; strCommandStop2 = @"start /wait sc " + strServer + " Stop " + strDb2; strCommandStart1 = @"start /wait sc " + strServer + " Start " + strDb2; strCommandStart2 = @"start /wait sc " + strServer + " Start " + strDb1; try { ProcessStartInfo startInfo = new ProcessStartInfo(); startInfo.CreateNoWindow = true; startInfo.Arguments = strCommandStop1; startInfo.Arguments = strCommandStop2; startInfo.Arguments = strCommandStart1; startInfo.Arguments = strCommandStart2; startInfo .FileName = "sc.exe"; Process.Start(startInfo); } catch (Exception e) { MessageBox.Show(e.Message); }

  • Inexplicably slow query in MySQL

    - by Brandon M.
    Given this result-set: mysql> EXPLAIN SELECT c.cust_name, SUM(l.line_subtotal) FROM customer c -> JOIN slip s ON s.cust_id = c.cust_id -> JOIN line l ON l.slip_id = s.slip_id -> JOIN vendor v ON v.vend_id = l.vend_id WHERE v.vend_name = 'blahblah' -> GROUP BY c.cust_name -> HAVING SUM(l.line_subtotal) > 49999 -> ORDER BY c.cust_name; +----+-------------+-------+--------+---------------------------------+---------------+---------+----------------------+------+----------------------------------------------+ | id | select_type | table | type | possible_keys | key | key_len | ref | rows | Extra | +----+-------------+-------+--------+---------------------------------+---------------+---------+----------------------+------+----------------------------------------------+ | 1 | SIMPLE | v | ref | PRIMARY,idx_vend_name | idx_vend_name | 12 | const | 1 | Using where; Using temporary; Using filesort | | 1 | SIMPLE | l | ref | idx_vend_id | idx_vend_id | 4 | csv_import.v.vend_id | 446 | | | 1 | SIMPLE | s | eq_ref | PRIMARY,idx_cust_id,idx_slip_id | PRIMARY | 4 | csv_import.l.slip_id | 1 | | | 1 | SIMPLE | c | eq_ref | PRIMARY,cIndex | PRIMARY | 4 | csv_import.s.cust_id | 1 | | +----+-------------+-------+--------+---------------------------------+---------------+---------+----------------------+------+----------------------------------------------+ 4 rows in set (0.04 sec) I'm a bit baffled as to why the query referenced by this EXPLAIN statement is still taking about a minute to execute. Isn't it true that this query only has to search through 449 rows? Anyone have any idea as to what could be slowing it down so much?

  • Oracle global_names DELETE problem

    - by jyzuz
    I'm using a database link to execute a DELETE statement on another DB, but the DB link name doesn't conform to global naming, and this requirement cannot change. Also I have global_names set to false, and cannot be changed either. When I try to use these links however, I receive: ORA-02069: - global_names parameter must be set to TRUE for this operation Cause: A remote mapping of the statement is required but cannot be achieved because GLOBAL_NAMES should be set to TRUE for it to be achieved. - Action: Issue `ALTER SESSION SET GLOBAL_NAMES = TRUE` (if possible) What is the alternative action when setting global_names=true is not possible? Cheers, Jean

    - by jason
    I am trying to do multiple counts everyone was working accept the first sub select (list1) I get an error that reads "Operand should contain 1 column(s)" i'm guessing it has something to do with the AND, but i'm not sure how I would fix this one. Select Count(list0.ustatus) AS finished_count, (Select list1.ustatus, Count(*) From listofupdates list1 Where list1.ustarted != '0000-00-00 00:00:00' AND list1.ustatus != 1) AS start_count, (Select Count(list2.udifficulty) From listofupdates list2 Where list2.udifficulty = 2) AS recheck_count, (Select Count(list3.udifficulty) From listofupdates list3 Where list3.udifficulty = 4) AS question_count From listofupdates list0 Where list0.ustatus = 1

  • Data not entering the table

Thanks
