• Flowcharting tool/add-in for Visual Studio

  A 2 part question: Are flow-charts, as tool to analyze source-code, no longer considered useful? The reason I ask this question is that if you Google for source-code to flowchart tools for Visual Studio, there are no relevant results. Also, Microsoft does not seem to have a tool for this purpose. Are people just not using flowcharts that much any more? (I find them to be a great way to document complex logic in my code). Are there any VS tools that can take .Net (C#, VB.Net) code and convert it to a flowchart? (The only tool that I found is Aviosto's Visustin, which does not provide VS integration). Any other tools that you can recommend for this purpose?

• Rails ActionMailer problems on Mac

  I've been working on learning to use Rails the last couple days and I've run into something that I haven't been able to solve with Google. So I'm just creating a basic contact form that sends an email. Everything seems to be working ok in testing, which tells me that the form is working, and ActionMailer was implemented correctly, however, I'm having trouble configuring ActionMailer. I'm running OSX 10.6.2. I have postfix running and have verified that it's running using telnet localhost 25. When I try to use the form I get a "Connection refused" error. This is my current configuration: config.action_mailer.smtp_settings = { :address => 'localhost', :port => 25 } I thought I might need to set :domain but I'm kind of confused on what that should be set to in this situation.

• Why does this JSON fail only in iPhone?

  I'm using the JSON framework from http://code.google.com/p/json-framework. The JSON below fails with this error: -JSONValue failed. • Any hosted versions of jQuery that have the 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *' header set?

  I have been working with jQuery recently and ran into a problem where I couldn't include it in a userscript because xmlhttpRequest uses the same origin policy. After further testing I found that most browsers also support the Cross-Origin Resource Sharing access control defined by W3C as a workaround for issues with same origin policy. I tested this by hosting the jQuery script on a local web server that included the Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * http header, which allowed the script to be downloaded using xmlhttpRequest so that it could be included in my userscript. I'd like to use a hosted version of jQuery when releasing the script, but so far testing with tools like http://www.seoconsultants.com/tools/headers I have not found any sites that allow cross-origin access to the jQuery script.   I'm trying to figure out which property of BoxComponentEvent will tell me if the generated OnMouseWheel event was a scroll-up or scroll-down event. I have output the values of all the properties BoxComponentEvent exposes; and all of them (with the exception of the coordinates at which the event took place) stay the same regardless.   Hi, I am using a Radio Layer Interface (RIL) Native API in Windows Mobile application. In this API, the return values / results of most functions are not returned immediately but are passed through a callback function which is passed to the RIL API. Some usage examples are found at XDA Develompent Tools and Google Gears Geolocation API. My question is, in these two examples, a mutex is used to guard the data instead of other synchronization objects. Now, will Critical Section do fine here in the use cases described by both examples? Which thread or process will actually call the callback functions?

• Rotating images + content - jQuery or MooTools?

  I've found a feature on two different websites that I'd like to include on one of my web projects, but I can't figure out how they're doing it. I think they're using either jQuery or mootools, but I'm not sure. http://www.x-plane.com/index_desktop.html I'm new here so I don't have the reputation to post the other link, but if you do a Google search for "Andrews Institute of Orthopaedics" its the top result. I'll see if I can answer a few questions to earn my keep. The thing that I like about these is that the images and text (including links) are all rotated together. I've done a few web searches related to cycle, rotate and slide but it's not coming together for me. Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction?

  I have "white nights" trying to install Hebrew/Arabic fonts on my level 7 (API 2.1) aka Nexus emulator. I can't understand why Google guys will want to waist my skills do something helpful for the community using Hebrew/Arabic fonts. After rw mount/remount I can do it for level 3 devices, but for Nexus - nada! Why? What can be done? Real devices guys already broke this peace of hardware, but I am sitting and looking wide eyes open like a sheep. Please make me happy and give the chance to install the fonts. • MVC.NET UpdateModel doesn't update inherited public properties??

  I refactored some common properties into a base class and immediately my model updates started failing. UpdateModel() and TryUpdateModel() do not seem to update inherited public properties. I cannot find detailed info on MSDN nor Google as to the rules or semantics of these methods. The docs are terse (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd470933.aspx), simply stating: Updates the specified model instance using values from the controller's current value provider. Well that leads us to believe it is as simple as that. It makes no mention of limitations with inheritance. My assumption is the methods are reflecting on the top class only, ignoring base properties, but this seems to be an ugly shortcoming, if so.

• Cant delete more than 200 contacts in HTC HERO

  I'm working on security application which will copy all contacts to some other database and delete all contacts from phonebook. I'm testing this on android HTC HERO. I'm successful to delete contacts from phonebook and create new contact info database, Till 200 it is working, but after 200 contacts its not working properly. After tht application starts throwing error. There is one Sync with Google Option in MenuSettingData Sync, I think that is creating problem. There is notification that "Too many contacts deleted" n if i click tht there will b a dialog with title "Delete Limit exceeded". Is there anything i can do to stop syncronization or any other ideas by which i can achieve required output? Please Help me on this

  I recently installed cache-money. After some difficulties getting memcached and cache-money set up, I thought I had it working. It cached the one query on my login page fine. I login, and go to my message index page and get this error: indices delegated to @cache_config.indices, but @cache_config is nil: Slug(id: integer, name: string, sluggable_id: integer, sequence: integer, sluggable_type: string, scope: string, created_at: datetime) Searching for the first part of that error message returns 0 hits on Google, so I'm at a loss on where to even begin. Any suggestions?

  We're using the Telerik Rad Controls for ASP.Net Ajax on an ASP.Net MVC project. • Usng Rails ActiveRecord relationships

  I'm a newbie programmer, been doing shell scripting for years but have recently taken on OOP programming using Ruby and am creating a Rails application. I'm having a hard time getting my head wrapped around how to use my defined model relationships. I've tried searching Google, but all I can come up with are basically cheat sheets for what has_many, belongs_to, etc all mean. This stuff is easy to define & understand, especially since I've done a lot of work directly with SQL. What I don't understand is how to actually used those defined relationships. In my case I have 3 models: Locations Hosts Services Relationships (not actual code, just for shortening it): Services belongs_to :hosts Hosts has_many :services belongs_to :locations Locations has_many :hosts In this case I want to be able to display a column from Locations while working with Services. In SQL this is a simple join, but I want to do it the Rails/Ruby way, and also not use SQL in my code or redefine my joins.

• Chrome Facebook Connect Window Resize

  I am experiencing a weird issue in Google Chrome for Mac OS X (10.6). I am using the JS Facebook Connect library and FB.Connect.streamPublish to share a story on a users profile. If the user is already logged in to Facebook prior to coming to the share page on my site, there's no problem - the window opens as an absolutely positioned div above the rest of my site. If the user is not logged in, though, a pop-up window opens that asks the user to log in. This works perfectly in Firefox, but when using Chrome, when the Facebook login window opens, it starts gradually resizing itself until it becomes a narrow column - when manually resizing the window, it gradually reverts back to the narrow column. I googled this problem and found that some users are experiencing the same issue, but I could not find a solution. Does anybody know anything about this? • Urllib's urlopen breaking on some sites (e.g. StackApps api)

  I'm using urllib2's urlopen function to try and get a JSON result from the StackOverflow api. The code I'm using: >>> import urllib2 >>> conn = urllib2.urlopen("http://api.stackoverflow.com/0.8/users/") >>> conn.readline() The result I'm getting: '\x1f\x8b\x08\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x04\x00\xed\xbd\x07`\x1cI\x96%&/m\xca{\x7fJ\... I'm fairly new to urllib, but this doesn't seem like the result I should be getting. I've tried it in other places and I get what I expect (the same as visiting the address with a browser gives me: a JSON object). Using urlopen on other sites (e.g. "http://google.com") works fine, and gives me actual html. I've also tried using urllib and it gives the same result. I'm pretty stuck, not even knowing where to look to solve this problem. Any ideas?

I tried to create a file called client-config.wsdd as describer in http://code.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=15137 but without success (I don't get a log file). Requests are made over https and I am not sure if it matters. I tried <transport name="http" pivot="java:org.apache.axis.transport.http.HTTPSender"/> and <transport name="https" pivot="java:org.apache.axis.transport.http.HTTPSender"/> without success.

  I just installed the gem for will_paginate and it says that it was installed successfully. I followed all the instructions listed with the plugin and I am getting an 'undefined method `paginate' for' error. Can't find much in the way of Google search and haven't been able to fix it myself (obviously).   Im currently looking into an easy way to query and store Latitude/Longitude for a given address. There are a plentitude of services out there, but none actually allows me to store the data I retieve (i.e. Google Maps API TOS, Yahoo! Maps API TOS). As I wan't to use them for a distance search I can't really query the data on the fly. Are there any services that acutally allow to store the location you get for an adress? And I want to do it more or less worldwide. (As a side question, I might need the other way around soon, getting from latitude/longitude to an address or place name, but this falls under the same terms as the above).
