  • Installing The ruby-gmail rubygem on Mac OS Snow Leopard

    - by johnnygoodman
    I'm working off these instructions: http://github.com/dcparker/ruby-gmail From the home directory I do a standard install and good stuff happens: Johnny-Goodmans-MacBook-Pro:gmail johnnygoodman$ sudo gem install ruby-gmail Successfully installed ruby-gmail-0.2.1 1 gem installed Installing ri documentation for ruby-gmail-0.2.1... Installing RDoc documentation for ruby-gmail-0.2.1... I head over to my ~/www dir where I run scripts that include other rubygems successfully and create a gmail directory. I create a script that includes rubygems and gmail, but does nothing else: Johnny-Goodmans-MacBook-Pro:gmail johnnygoodman$ pwd /Users/johnnygoodman/www/gmail Johnny-Goodmans-MacBook-Pro:gmail johnnygoodman$ ls test-send.rb Johnny-Goodmans-MacBook-Pro:gmail johnnygoodman$ cat test-send.rb require 'rubygems' require 'gmail' I run this script and the errors begin: Johnny-Goodmans-MacBook-Pro:gmail johnnygoodman$ ruby test-send.rb /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `gem_original_require': no such file to load -- mime/message (LoadError) from /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `require' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/ruby-gmail-0.2.1/lib/gmail/message.rb:1 from /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `gem_original_require' from /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `require' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/ruby-gmail-0.2.1/lib/gmail.rb:168 from /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `gem_original_require' from /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `require' from test-send.rb:2 Johnny-Goodmans-MacBook-Pro:gmail johnnygoodman$ Here's my gem env: Johnny-Goodmans-MacBook-Pro:gmail johnnygoodman$ gem environment RubyGems Environment: - RUBYGEMS VERSION: 1.3.7 - RUBY VERSION: 1.8.7 (2009-06-08 patchlevel 173) [universal-darwin10.0] - INSTALLATION DIRECTORY: /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8 - RUBY EXECUTABLE: /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/bin/ruby - EXECUTABLE DIRECTORY: /usr/bin - RUBYGEMS PLATFORMS: - ruby - universal-darwin-10 - GEM PATHS: - /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8 - /Users/johnnygoodman/.gem/ruby/1.8 - /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8 - GEM CONFIGURATION: - :update_sources => true - :verbose => true - :benchmark => false - :backtrace => false - :bulk_threshold => 1000 - :sources => ["http://rubygems.org/", "http://gems.github.com"] - REMOTE SOURCES: - http://rubygems.org/ - http://gems.github.com The path that the errors give when I run the script is not the same as the GEM PATHS given in the env output. However, I don't know how to make them match or if that's the significant thing here.

  • How do I use local memory in OpenCL?

    - by splicer
    I've been playing with OpenCL recently, and I'm able to write simple kernels that use only global memory. Now I'd like to start using local memory, but I can't seem to figure out how to use get_local_size() and get_local_id() to compute one "chunk" of output at a time. For example, let's say I wanted to convert Apple's OpenCL Hello World example kernel to something the uses local memory. How would you do it? Here's the original kernel source: __kernel square( __global float *input, __global float *output, const unsigned int count) { int i = get_global_id(0); if (i < count) output[i] = input[i] * input[i]; } If this example can't easily be converted into something that shows how to make use of local memory, any other simple example will do. Thanks!

  • Why does my sharepoint web part event handler lose the sender value on postback?

    - by vishal shah
    I have a web part which is going to be a part of pair of connected web parts. For simplicity, I am just describing the consumer web part. This web part has 10 link buttons on it. And they are rendered in the Render method instead ofCreateChildControls as this webpart will be receiving values based on input from the provider web part. Each Link Button has a text which is decided dynamically based on the input from provider web part. When I click on any of the Link Buttons, the event handler is triggered but the text on the Link Button shows up as the one set in CreateChildControls. When I trace the code, I see that the CreateChildControls gets called before the event handler (and i think that resets my Link Buttons). How do I get the event handler to show me the dynamic text instead? Here is the code... public class consWebPart : Microsoft.SharePoint.WebPartPages.WebPart { private bool _error = false; private LinkButton[] lkDocument = null; public consWebPart() { this.ExportMode = WebPartExportMode.All; } protected override void CreateChildControls() { if (!_error) { try { base.CreateChildControls(); lkDocument = new LinkButton[101]; for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { lkDocument[i] = new LinkButton(); lkDocument[i].ID = "lkDocument" + i; lkDocument[i].Text = "Initial Text"; lkDocument[i].Style.Add("margin", "10 10 10 10px"); this.Controls.Add(lkDocument[i]); lkDocument[i].Click += new EventHandler(lkDocument_Click); } } catch (Exception ex) { HandleException(ex); } } } protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) { writer.Write("<table><tr>"); for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { writer.Write("<tr>"); lkDocument[i].Text = "LinkButton" + i; writer.Write("<td>"); lkDocument[i].RenderControl(writer); writer.Write("</td>"); writer.Write("</tr>"); } writer.Write("</table>"); } protected void lkDocument_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string strsender = sender.ToString(); LinkButton lk = (LinkButton)sender; } protected override void OnLoad(EventArgs e) { if (!_error) { try { base.OnLoad(e); this.EnsureChildControls(); } catch (Exception ex) { HandleException(ex); } } } private void HandleException(Exception ex) { this._error = true; this.Controls.Clear(); this.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl(ex.Message)); } }

  • python variable scope

    - by Oscar Reyes
    I'm teaching my self python and I was translating some sample class Student: def __init__( self, name, a,b,c ): self.name = name self.a = a self.b = b self.c = c def average(self): return ( a+b+c ) / 3.0 Which is pretty much my intended class definition Later in the main method I create an instance and call it a if __name__ == "__main__" : a = Student( "Oscar", 10, 10, 10 ) That's how I find out that the variable a declared in main is available to the method average and that to make that method work , I have to type self.a + self.b + self.c instead What's the rationale of this? I found related questions, but I don't really know if they are about the same

  • Taking "do the simplest thing that could possible work" too far in TDD: testing for a file-name kno

    - by Support - multilanguage SO
    For TDD you have to Create a test that fail Do the simplest thing that could possible work to pass the test Add more variants of the test and repeat Refactor when a pattern emerge With this approach you're supposing to cover all the cases ( that comes to my mind at least) but I'm wonder if am I being too strict here and if it is possible to "think ahead" some scenarios instead of simple discover them. For instance, I'm processing a file and if it doesn't conform to a certain format I am to throw an InvalidFormatException So my first test was: @Test void testFormat(){ // empty doesn't do anything nor throw anything processor.validate("empty.txt"); try { processor.validate("invalid.txt"); assert false: "Should have thrown InvalidFormatException"; } catch( InvalidFormatException ife ) { assert "Invalid format".equals( ife.getMessage() ); } } I run it and it fails because it doesn't throw an exception. So the next thing that comes to my mind is: "Do the simplest thing that could possible work", so I : public void validate( String fileName ) throws InvalidFormatException { if(fileName.equals("invalid.txt") { throw new InvalidFormatException("Invalid format"); } } Doh!! ( although the real code is a bit more complicated, I found my self doing something like this several times ) I know that I have to eventually add another file name and other test that would make this approach impractical and that would force me to refactor to something that makes sense ( which if I understood correctly is the point of TDD, to discover the patterns the usage unveils ) but: Q: am I taking too literal the "Do the simplest thing..." stuff?

  • What exactly are tuples in Python?

    - by Sergio Tapia
    I'm following a couple of Pythone exercises and I'm stumped at this one. # C. sort_last # Given a list of non-empty tuples, return a list sorted in increasing # order by the last element in each tuple. # e.g. [(1, 7), (1, 3), (3, 4, 5), (2, 2)] yields # [(2, 2), (1, 3), (3, 4, 5), (1, 7)] # Hint: use a custom key= function to extract the last element form each tuple. def sort_last(tuples): # +++your code here+++ return What is a Tuple? Do they mean a List of Lists?

  • I want to better organize my website files, but I can access the .php files using the folder heirarc

    - by Sergio Tapia
    For example, to access a page in my search folder, I have to write: mywebsite.tld/search/searchJob.php I don't want users to have to write down folder structure and whatnot. What can I do to change this? OR, is there a better way to organize my files? Because I'm only two pages in and I decided to move some files and got lost in the heirarchy (that's why I moved them like in the picture).

  • How do you clear the focus in javascript?

    - by Andres
    I know this shouldn't be that hard, but I couldn't find the answer on Google. I want to execute a piece of javascript that will clear the focus from whatever element it is on without knowing ahead of time which element the focus is on. It has to work on firefox 2 as well as more modern browsers. Is there a good way to do this?

  • git-svn merge 2 svn branches

    - by idimba
    I using svn. I have two branches and on both of them were performed a lot of changes. In addition of one of the branches a lot of files were renamed, so now svn can not help me merge changes in those files (well know svn limitation). Is it possible using git-svn to perform the merge of the branches? Will git-svn hanndle renamed files too? Thanks

  • Shutdown and WakeUp Script C#

    - by Stephen Murby
    Hiya I am very new to C#, infact this is basically my first task set by work whilst i learn the language. Yes i am also new to programming, be gentle :). Context: My script needs to query active directory, grab of OU's and put them to a combo box in a form. Next query ActDir for a list of machines in a selected OU (Done this in a vbscript already) Next query the machines in turn for there IP, and MAC addresses.(Done this in a vbscript already) Next needs to shut those machines down(Done this in a vbscript already) and dump all the machine and NIC info to a txt file The other half of the script grabs the info for the machines out of the text file and sends them a magic packet to wake them up. The shutdown section i have already written a VBscript for, but decided it wasn't future prrof, and i was learninc C# at home, so figured it was the best option to start over with. Im not looking for anyone to write this for me, but if anyone had any pointers on where to go for information etc. . . It would be more than appreciated :)

  • Why can't I install psycopg2? (Python 2.6.4, PostgreSQL 8.4, OS X 10.6.3)

    - by cojadate
    UPDATE: After updating all my software, the error message has changed. Now, when I run "python setup.py install" I get the following: Warning: Unable to find 'pg_config' filebuilding 'psycopg2._psycopg' extension gcc-4.0 -arch ppc -arch i386 -isysroot /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common -dynamic -DNDEBUG -g -O3 -DPSYCOPG_DEFAULT_PYDATETIME=1 -DPSYCOPG_VERSION="2.2.1 (dt dec ext pq3)" -DPSYCOPG_EXTENSIONS=1 -DPSYCOPG_NEW_BOOLEAN=1 -DHAVE_PQFREEMEM=1 -DHAVE_PQPROTOCOL3=1 -I/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/include/python2.6 -I. -c psycopg/psycopgmodule.c -o build/temp.macosx-10.3-fat-2.6/psycopg/psycopgmodule.o followed by a very long list of other error messages. After running python setup.py install I get the following: Warning: Unable to find 'pg_config' filebuilding 'psycopg2._psycopg' extension gcc-4.0 -arch ppc -arch i386 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common -dynamic -DNDEBUG -g -O3 - DPSYCOPG_DEFAULT_PYDATETIME=1 -DPSYCOPG_VERSION="2.2.1 (dt dec ext pq3)" -DPSYCOPG_EXTENSIONS=1 -DPSYCOPG_NEW_BOOLEAN=1 -DHAVE_PQFREEMEM=1 -DHAVE_PQPROTOCOL3=1 -I/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/include/python2.6 -I. -c psycopg/psycopgmodule.c -o build/temp.macosx-10.3-fat-2.6/psycopg/psycopgmodule.o unable to execute gcc-4.0: No such file or directory error: command 'gcc-4.0' failed with exit status 1 There's probably something screamingly obvious there to anyone who knows the first thing about back-end web programming, but unfortunately it's all gobbledegook to me. The psycopg2 documentation was not helpful.

  • Project Euler #290 in python, hint please

    - by debragail
    This solution is grossly inefficient. What am I missing? #!/usr/bin/env python #coding: utf-8 import time from timestrings import * start = time.clock() maxpower = 18 count = 0 for i in range(0, 10 ** maxpower - 1): if i % 9 == 0: result1 = list(str(i)) result2 = list(str(137 * i)) sum1 = 0 for j in result1: sum1 += int(j) sum2 = 0 for j in result2: sum2 += int(j) if sum1 == sum2: print (i, sum1) count += 1 finish = time.clock() print ("Project Euler, Project 290") print () print ("Answer:", count) print ("Time:", stringifytime(finish - start))

  • Does height and width not apply to span?

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
    Total noob question, but here. CSS .product__specfield_8_arrow { /*background-image:url(../../upload/orng_bg_arrow.png); background-repeat:no-repeat;*/ background-color:#fc0; width:50px !important; height:33px !important; border: 1px solid #dddddd; border-left:none; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5px; border-bottom-left-radius:0px; border-top-left-radius:0px; -moz-border-radius-bottomleft:0px; -moz-border-radius-topleft:0px; -webkit-border-bottom-left-radius:0px; -webkit-border-top-left-radius:0px; margin:0; padding:2px; cursor:pointer; }??? HTML <span class="product__specfield_8_arrow">&nbsp;</span>? Fiddle Basically I'm trying to emulate a button, make a span (or something) look like a button next to an input field that actually doesn't need to be one because of an auto fill generator that generates errors onEnter. Thought this'd be a quick fix for now but obviously not. Thanks.
