• Resque Runtime Error at /workers: wrong number of arguments for 'exists' command

  I'm having a runtime errror when i'm looking at the "workers" tab on resque-web (localhost). Everything else works. Edit: when this error occurs, i also have some (3 or 4) unknown workers 'not working'. I think they are responsible for the error but i don't understand how they got here Can you help me on this ? Did i do something wrong ? • Iterating through a directory with Ant

  Let's say I have a collection of PDF files with the following paths: /some/path/pdfs/birds/duck.pdf /some/path/pdfs/birds/goose.pdf /some/path/pdfs/insects/fly.pdf /some/path/pdfs/insects/mosquito.pdf What I'd like to do is generate thumbnails for each PDF that respect the relative path structure, and output to another location, i.e.: /another/path/thumbnails/birds/duck.png /another/path/thumbnails/birds/goose.png /another/path/thumbnails/insects/fly.png /another/path/thumbnails/insects/mosquito.png I'd like this to be done in Ant. Assume I'm going to use Ghostscript on the command line and I've already worked out the call to GS: <exec executable="${ghostscript.executable.name}"> <arg value="-q"/> <arg value="-r72"/> <arg value="-sDEVICE=png16m"/> <arg value="-sOutputFile=${thumbnail.image.path}"/> <arg value="${input.pdf.path}"/> </exec> So what I need to do is work out the correct values for ${thumbnail.image.path} and ${input.pdf.path} while traversing the PDF input directory. I have access to ant-contrib (just installed the "latest", which is 1.0b3) and I'm using Ant 1.8.0. I think I can make something work using the <for> task, <fileset>s and <mapper>s, but I am having trouble putting it all together. I tried something like: <for param="file"> <path> <fileset dir="${some.dir.path}/pdfs"> <include name="**/*.pdf"/> </fileset> </path> <sequential> <echo message="@{file}"/> </sequential> </for> But unfortunately the @{file} property is an absolute path, and I can't find any simple way of decomposing it into the relative components. If I can only do this using a custom task, I guess I could write one, but I'm hoping I can just plug together existing components.

• heroku mongohq and mongoid Mongo::ConnectionFailure

  I have added the mongoHQ addon for mongodb at heroku. It crashes with something like this. connect_to_master': failed to connect to any given host:port (Mongo::ConnectionFailure) The descriptions online (heroku mongohq) are more directed towards mongomapper, as I see it. I'm running ruby 1.9.1 and rails 3-beta with mongoid. • What might cause this ExecutionEngineException?

  I am trying to use Reflection.Emit to generate a wrapper class in a dynamic assembly. Automatic wrapper generation is part of a new open-source library I'm writing called "GoInterfaces". The wrapper class implements IEnumerable<string> and wraps List<string>. In C# terms, all it does is this: class List1_7931B0B4_79328AA0 : IEnumerable<string> { private readonly List<string> _obj; public List1_7931B0B4_79328AA0(List<string> obj) { this._obj = obj; } IEnumerator IEnumerable.GetEnumerator() { return this._obj.GetEnumerator(); } public sealed IEnumerator<string> GetEnumerator() { return this._obj.GetEnumerator(); } } However, when I try to call the GetEnumerator() method on my wrapper class, I get ExecutionEngineException. So I saved my dynamic assembly to a DLL and used ildasm on it. • Session Id in url and/or cookie? [closed]

  Most people advice against rewriting every (internal) url to include the sessionId (both GET and POST). The standard argument against it seems to be:   If an attacker gets hold of the sessionId, they can hijack the session.   With the sessionId in the url, it easily leaks to the attacker (by referer etc.) But what if you put the sessionId in both an (encrypted) cookie and the url. if the sessionId in either the cookie or the url is missing or if they do not match, decline the request. Let's pretend the website in question is free of xss holes, the cookie encryption is strong enough, etc. etc. Then what is the increased risk of rewriting every url to include the sessionId? UPDATE: @Casper That is a very good point. so up to now there are 2 reasons: bad for search engines / SEO if used in public part of the website can cause trouble when users post an url with a session Id on a forum, send it trough email or bookmark the page apart from the:   It increases the security risk, but it is not clear what the increased risk is. some background info: I've a website that offers blog-like service to travellers. I cannot be sure cookies work nor can I require cookies to work. Most computers in internet cafes are old and not (even close to) up-to-date. The user has no control over them and the connection can be very unreliable for some more 'off the beaten path' locations. Binding the session to an IP-address is not possible, some places use load-balancing proxies with multiple IP addresses. (and from China there is The Great Firewall). Upon receiving the first cookie back, I flag cookies as mandatory. However, if the cookie was flagged as mandatory but not there, I ask for their password once more, knowing their session from the url. (Also cookies have a 1 time token in them, but that's not the point of this question). UPDATE 2: The conclusion seems to be that there are no extra *security* issues when you expose you session id trough the URL while also keeping a copy of the session id in an encrypted cookie. Do not hesitate to add additional information about any possible security implications

• gcc 4.5 installation problem under ubuntu

  I tried to install gcc 4.5 on ubuntu 10.04 but failed. Here is a compile error that I don't know how to solve. Is there anyone successfully install the latest gcc on ubuntu? Following is my steps and the error message, I'd like to know where is the problem.... Step1: download these files: gcc-core-4.5.0.tar.gz gcc-g++-4.5.0.tar.gz gmp-4.3.2.tar.bz2 mpc-0.8.1.tar.gz mpfr-2.4.2.tar.gz Step2: Unzip above files Step3: move gmp, mpc, mpfr to the gcc-4.5.0/ directory. mv gmp-4.3.2 gcc-4.5.0/gmp mv mpc-0.8.1 gcc-4.5.0/mpc mv mpfr-2.4.2 gcc-4.5.0/mpfr Step4: go to gcc-4.5.0 directory and do configuration: sudo ./configure Step5: compile and install sudo make sudo make install The first 4 steps is OK, I can configure it successfully. However, when I try to compile it, following error message comes out, I cannot figure out what the problem is. Should I change the name from "gcc 4.5" to "gcc"?? It's a little strange that we need to do this by ourself. • Best Practice for Images with Codeigniter : Generating Thumbs or Resizing on the Fly

  Hi all, I know there’s been a good deal written on thumbnail generation and the like with CI, but I wanted to explain what I’ve made and see what kind of best-practice advice I could find. Here’s my story… Currently, I have a site which allows users to upload collections of photos to projects they’ve created after first creating an account. Upon account creation, the site generates folders for the users in the following fashion for each of five pre-defined projects: /students/username/project_num/images/thumbs/ (This is to say that within a pre-created students folder, the username, project_num, images and thumbs folders are created recursively five times.) When a user uploads images to a project, I have a gallery controller which uploads the full images into the images folder for the project_num, and then creates a smaller thumbnail which maintains its ratio. So far so good. On the index page of the site, where these thumbnails and full images are displayed, I had a bit of a brain lapse, thinking I could simply output the full image while resizing it via css for a ‘medium-size’ image which would lead to the full-size image when clicked. (To be clear, the path is: Click on thumbnail— Load scaled full-size (medium-size) image via ajax into a display area above thumbs— Click on medium-sized image— Load full size image via lightbox, or something of that nature.) I have everything working to this point, except, as one might imagine, resizing the full-sized images with css doesn’t maintain aspect ratio for the thumbs, which means I need to find the best way to resize these. In thinking about it, I figured I had two options: I could resize the image on the fly when the user clicks a thumbnail to load the medium-sized image via ajax. (I have a method ‘get_image($url)’ in my gallery controller which simply loads a view with an image tag and the image source passed to it, etc.) I thought perhaps I could send it first to my gallery model, resize it there on the fly, and send it on to the view. The problem I’m having is that resizing it on the fly and echoing it out gives me the raw image data (I apologize, I don’t know that’s the right term). I’ve tried using data_uris to format the raw data into something echoable, but with no success. Is this method possible? The second option I considered was to generate a second medium-sized thumbnail when the user uploads the image with maintain_ratio set to true. This method is slightly less ideal, given that when providing a way for the user to delete their projects, I’ll need to scan for an additional set of images to delete. Not a huge deal, definitely, but something I figured could be avoided by generating the medium-sized image on the fly. I hope I’ve been clear in my explanations, if long-winded! It is trying to create the schema table using this sql: CREATE TABLE SubSonicSchemaInfo ( version int NOT NULL CONSTRAINT DF_SubSonicSchemaInfo_version DEFAULT (0) ) Which doesn't work on oracle. The correct sql would be: CREATE TABLE SubSonicSchemaInfo ( version int DEFAULT (0), constraint DF_SubSonicSchemaInfo_version primary key (version) ) The funny thing is that since this is the very first sql executed by subsonic migrations, NOBODY EVER TESTED it on oracle.

The above approach works fine. But, I want to be able to write out the file using UTF16 with a BOM to give me more flexibility so that I don't have to worry about big or little endian. Addendum I selected the answer below from Amro because it exactly solves the question I posed. One key discovery for me was the difference between the Unicode Standard and a UTF (Unicode transformation format) (see http://unicode.org/faq/utf_bom.html). The Unicode Standard provides unique identifiers (code points) for characters. UTFs provide mappings of every code point "to a unique byte sequence." Since all but a handful of the characters I am using are in the first 128 code points, I'm going to switch to using UTF-8 as Romeo suggests. UTF-8 is supported by Matlab (The warning shown below won't need to be suppressed.) and Java, and for my application will generate smaller text files. I suppress the Matlab warning Warning: The encoding 'UTF-16LE' is not supported. with warning off MATLAB:iofun:UnsupportedEncoding;

• Unable to rename file with c# ftp methods when current user directory is different from root

  Hello everyone, Remark: due to spam prevention mechanizm I was forced to replace the beginning of the Uris from ftp:// to ftp. I've got following problem. I have to upload file with C# ftp method and afterwards rename it. Easy, right? :) Ok, let's say my ftp host is like this: ftp.contoso.com and after logging in, current directory is set to: users/name So, what I'm trying to achieve is to log in, upload file to current directory as file.ext.tmp and after upload is successful, rename the file to file.ext The whole difficulty is, as I guess, to properly set the request Uri for FtpWebRequest. MSDN states: The URI may be relative or absolute. If the URI is of the form "ftp://contoso.com/%2fpath" (%2f is an escaped '/'), then the URI is absolute, and the current directory is /path. If, however, the URI is of the form "ftp://contoso.com/path", first the .NET Framework logs into the FTP server (using the user name and password set by the Credentials property), then the current directory is set to UserLoginDirectory/path. Ok, so I upload file with the following URI: ftp.contoso.com/file.ext.tmp Great, the file lands where I wanted it to be: in directory "users/name" Now, I want to rename the file, so I create web request with following Uri: ftp.contoso.com/file.ext.tmp and specify rename to parameter as: file.ext and this gives me 550 error: file not found, no permissions, etc. I traced this in Microsoft Network Monitor and it gave me: Command: RNFR, Rename from CommandParameter: /file.ext.tmp Ftp: Response to Port 53724, '550 File /file.ext.tmp not found' as if it was looking for the file in the root directory - not in the current directory. I renamed the file manually using Total Commander and the only difference was that CommandParameter was without the first slash: CommandParameter: file.ext.tmp I'm able to successfully rename the file by supplying following absolute URI: ftp.contoso.com/%2fusers/%2fname/file.ext.tmp but I don't like this approach, since I would have to know the name of current user's directory. It can probably be done by using WebRequestMethods.Ftp.PrintWorkingDirectory, but it adds extra complexity (calling this method to retrieve directory name, then combining the paths to form proper URI). What I don't understand is why the URI ftp.contoso.com/file.ext.tmp is good for upload and not for rename? Am I missing something here? The project is set to .NET 4.0, coded in Visual Studio 2010.

• SSLException: Keystore does not support enabled cipher suites

  I want to implement a small android application, that works as SSL Server. After lot of problems with the right format of the keystore, I solved this and run into the next one. My keystore file is properly loaded by the KeyStore class. But when I try to open the server socket (socket.accept()) the following error is raised: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Could not find any key store entries to support the enabled cipher suites. I generated my keystore with this command: keytool -genkey -keystore test.keystore -keyalg RSA -keypass ssltest -storepass ssltest -storetype BKS -provider org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider -providerpath bcprov.jar with the Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy for Java SE6 applied to my jre6. I got a list of supported ciphers suites by calling socket.getSupportedCipherSuites() that prints a long list with very different combinations. But I don't know how to get a supported key. I also tried the android debug keystore after converting it to BKS format using portecle but get still the same error. Can anyone help and tell how I can generate a key that is compatible with one of the cipher suites? • Getting uninitialized constant error when trying to run tests

  I just updated all my gems and I'm finding that I'm getting errors when trying to run Test::Unit tests. I'm getting the error copied below. That comes from creating new, empty Rails project, scaffolding a simple model, and running rake test. Tried Googling "uninitialized constant" and TestResultFailureSupport. The only thing I found was this bug report from 2007. I'm using OS X. If I log in, the dialog box gets redirected to my Connect URL, but there's no fb cookie, so of course nothing works. What am I doing wrong here?

  I'm populating select box options via jquery and json but I'm not sure how to address multiple instances of the same chained select boxes within my form. Because the select boxes are only rendered when needed some records will have ten sets of chained select boxes and others will only need one. How does one generate unique selects to support the auto population of secondary select options?   Hi There I am trying to use the tranlsation webservice from MyMemory: http://mymemory.translated.net/doc/spec.php Unfortunately, Zend_Soap_Client does generate an XML reqest object that is not recognized by the service. I guess it is because of the ns1-Attribute (Namespace) within the tags. So does anyone know how to remove them? • General advice and guidelines on how to properly override object.GetHashCode()

  According to MSDN, a hash function must have the following properties: If two objects compare as equal, the GetHashCode method for each object must return the same value. However, if two objects do not compare as equal, the GetHashCode methods for the two object do not have to return different values. The GetHashCode method for an object must consistently return the same hash code as long as there is no modification to the object state that determines the return value of the object's Equals method. Note that this is true only for the current execution of an application, and that a different hash code can be returned if the application is run again. For the best performance, a hash function must generate a random distribution for all input. I keep finding myself in the following scenario: I have created a class, implemented IEquatable<T> and overridden object.Equals(object). MSDN states that: Types that override Equals must also override GetHashCode ; otherwise, Hashtable might not work correctly. And then it usually stops up a bit for me. Because, how do you properly override object.GetHashCode()? Never really know where to start, and it seems to be a lot of pitfalls. Here at StackOverflow, there are quite a few questions related to GetHashCode overriding, but most of them seems to be on quite particular cases and specific issues. So, therefore I would like to get a good compilation here. An overview with general advice and guidelines. What to do, what not to do, common pitfalls, where to start, etc. I would like it to be especially directed at C#, but I would think it will work kind of the same way for other .NET languages as well(?). I think maybe the best way is to create one answer per topic with a quick and short answer first (close to one-liner if at all possible), then maybe some more information and end with related questions, discussions, blog posts, etc., if there are any. I can then create one post as the accepted answer (to get it on top) with just a "table of contents". Try to keep it short and concise. And don't just link to other questions and blog posts. • Chaining IQueryables together

  I have a RIA Services based app that is using Entity Framework on the server side (possibly not relevant). In my real app, I can do something like this. EntityQuery<Status> query = statusContext.GetStatusesQuery().Where(s => s.Description.Contains("Foo")); Where statusContext is the client side subclass of DomainContext that RIA Services was kind enough to generate for me. The end result is an EntityQuery<Status> object who's Query property is an object that implements IQueryable and represents my where clause. The WebDomainClient is able to take this EntityQuery and not just give me back all of my Statuses but also filtered with my where clause. I am trying to implement this in a mock DomainClient. This MockDomainClient accepts an IQueryably<Entity> which it returns when asked for. But what if the user makes the query and includes the ad hoc additional query? How can I merge the two together? • How to setup an hibernate project using annotations compliant with JPA2.0

  I would like to setup an hibernate project, for this I use the lastest hibernate 3.5-Final. BTW my IDE is Netbeans.
