• Why does WPF Style to show validation errors in ToolTip work for a TextBox but fails for a ComboBox?

  I am using a typical Style to display validation errors as a tooltip from IErrorDataInfo for a textbox as shown below and it works fine. <Style TargetType="{x:Type TextBox}"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="Validation.HasError" Value="true"> <Setter Property="ToolTip" Value="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}, Path=(Validation.Errors)[0].ErrorContent}"/> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> But when i try to do the same thing for a ComboBox like this it fails <Style TargetType="{x:Type ComboBox}"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="Validation.HasError" Value="true"> <Setter Property="ToolTip" Value="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}, Path=(Validation.Errors)[0].ErrorContent}"/> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> The error I get in the output window is: System.Windows.Data Error: 17 : Cannot get 'Item[]' value (type 'ValidationError') from '(Validation.Errors)' (type 'ReadOnlyObservableCollection`1'). BindingExpression:Path=(0)[0].ErrorContent; DataItem='ComboBox' (Name='ownerComboBox'); target element is 'ComboBox' (Name='ownerComboBox'); target property is 'ToolTip' (type 'Object') ArgumentOutOfRangeException:'System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.Parameter name: index' Oddly it also attempts to make invalid Database changes when I close the window if I change any ComboBox values (This is also when the binding error occurs)!!! Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'EmpFirstName', table 'OITaskManager.dbo.Employees'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated. Simply by commenting the style out everyting works perfectly. How do I fix this? • ASP.NET MVC jquery.UI dialog - How to validate the dialog's input on server and return error?

  I am using jQuery1.4.2, ASP.NET MVC 2 and jQuery.UI-1.8. I am creating a data input dialog which works OK when all the data is valid, but I want to validate the input data on the server and return an error to the dialog describing the error and I am not quite sure how to do that and keep the dialog open. The dialog is opened when a link is clicked. The solution may be to try to bypass more of the MVC framework's default binding that handles the submit button clicks and creates the expected ProfilePermission object and calls the Controller's AddPermission POST Action method, but I was hoping there may be an easier way without have to write more jquery/javascript code to handle the button clicks and pass the data to the server. • I created a custom (WPF) DataGridBoundColumn and get unexpected behaviour, what am I missing?

  Hi, I am using a DataGrid (from Microsoft.Windows.Controls.DataGrid) to display items on and on this DataGrid I use a custom Column which extends DataGridBoundColumn. I have bound an ObservableCollection to the ItemSource of the DataGrid. Conversation is one of my own custom datatypes which a (among other things) has a boolean called active. I bound this boolean to the DataGrid as follows: DataGridActiveImageColumn test = new DataGridActiveImageColumn(); test.Header = "Active"; Binding binding1 = new Binding("Active"); test.Binding = binding1; ConversationsDataGrid.Columns.Add(test); My custom DataGridBoundColumn DataGridActiveImageColumn overrides the GenerateElement method to let it return an Image depending on whether the conversation it is called for is active or not. However: When there are more entries on the DataGrid then fit at any one time (and vertical scrollbars are added) the behavior with respect to the column for all the conversations is strange. The conversations that are initially loaded are correct, but when I use the scrollbar of the DataGrid conversations that enter the view seems to have a random status (although more inactive than active ones, which corresponds to the actual ratio). When I scroll back up, the active images of the Conversations initially shown (before scrolling) are not correct anymore as well. When I replace my custom DataGridBoundColumn class with (for instance) DataGridCheckBoxColumn it works as intended so my extension of the DataGridBoundColumn class must be incomplete. Personally I think it has something to do with the following: From the MSDN page on the GenerateElement method (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.controls.datagridcolumn.generateelement%28VS.95%29.aspx): Return Value Type: System.Windows. FrameworkElement A new, read-only element that is bound to the column's Binding property value. I do return a new element (the image) but it is not bound to anything. I am not quite sure what I should do. Should I bind the Image to something? To what exactly? And why? (I have been experimenting, but was unsuccessful thus far, hence this post) Thanks in advance.

• WPF Customized TabControl

  I have to develop a customized tab control and decided to create it with WPF/XAML, because I planned to learn it anyway. It should look like this when it's finished: I made good progress so far, but there are two issues left: Only the first/last tab item should have a rounded upper-left/bottom-left corner. Is it possible to modify the style of these items, similar to the way I did with the selected tab item? The selected tab item should not have a border on its right side. I tried to accomplish this with z-index and overlapping, but the results were rather disappointing. Is there any other way to do this? • Own DataFormWebPart: Unable to display this Web Part.

  Hi, What I want is to display a paginable list from my custom data source. All came from the fact that I needed some logical relationships between seach scopes and some dates. I considered ContentQueryWebpart, but CAML is too complicated as I have plenty of different conditions, CoreResults webpart is too limited as it uses KeyWordQuery so I inherited from DataFormWebPart to display my own custom search results from my own custom xml source. Thats the best way i am aware of... I knew I needed some configuration to write in my pageLayout like MyWebParts:MyCustomWebPart etc so I went to Designer, put DataFormWebPart on a page, linked it to list of pages, and set multiple item view and that gave me some configuration.. Firstly i checked if DataFormWebPart works when put on pageLayout and it sucessfully displayed my pages list in pages library. But that was not what I wanted, i needed to set my own XML data source... I then changed the configuration of WebPartPages:DataFormWebPart to match mine and detach from any listName or listId and I change the XSL tag to much simplier to display all results and now I am getting: Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator. and there is no way to know what is wrong:/ The webpart public class MyCustomWebPart : DataFormWebPart{ public override void DataBind() { ...... • Show certain InfoWindow in Google Map API V3

  Hello. I wrote the following code to display markers. There are 2 buttons which show Next or Previous Infowindow for markers. But problem is that InfoWindows are not shown using google.maps.event.trigger Can someone help me with this problem. Thank you. • selectLimit in JQgrid

  Hallo, I have a problem. I'am trying to get some data from my database. But with a limit. So i use the selectLimit command. But when i load the grid my firebug gives the following error: "parsererror"?e:null},parse:function(d...d(a.fn.jqGrid,d);this.no_legacy_api|| When I go to the selectLimit in the jqgrid.php and print out what the function returns it normaly return an array with all 500 objects with the correct data. When i use the selectCommand in stead of the selectLimit it return all the data correct as an json object an parses it correcly in the grid but it doens't use the LIMIT, Because when i add the limit. PDO doens't work anymore. So how do I get the object from the selectLimit to the grid? Can someone please help me get the grid working?

Now I want to hide (Visibility.Collapse) some items depending on wether a node has children or not. Other items shall be visible under the same condition. It works like charm when I first bind the source tree to the TreeView, but when I change the source tree, the visibility in the treeview does not change. • How to prevent jQuery FancyBox from closing immediately after submit?

  Hi! I'm loading an inline registration form in a FancyBox from jQuery. However after submitting the form, the box immediately closes while there is some feedback that I want to show the user in the FancyBox itself. This feedback is generated on the server side and is printed in the FancyBox. How can I make the box only closing when their is no feedback anymore? I was thinking about using ajax to just refresh the FancyBox itself and not the whole page after refreshing. But I just can't figure out how this ajax $.ajax({type, cache, url, data, success}); works... Also it seems like there's no reaction from the 'submit bind' in the javascript. • window.focus() not working in Google Chrome

  Hey folks, Just wondering if Google Chrome is going to support window.focus() at some point. When I mean support, I mean have it work. The call to it doesn't fail, it just doesn't do anything. All other major browsers do not have this problem: FireFox, IE6-IE8 and Safari. I have a client-side class for managing browser windows. When I first create a window the window comes into focus, but subsequent attempts to bring focus to the window do not work. From what I can tell, this appears to be a security feature to avoid annoying pop-ups and it does not appear to be a WebKit issue as it works in Safari. I know one idea someone brought forward was to close the window then reopen it, but this is a horrible solution. Googling shows that I do not appear to be the only person frustrated with this. And just to be 100% clear, I mean new windows, not tabs (tabs cannot be focused from what I've read) and all the windows being opened are in the same domain. Any ideas? • "Access is denied" JavaScript error when trying to access the document object of a programmatically-

  I have project in which I need to create an <iframe> element using JavaScript and append it to the DOM. After that, I need to insert some content into the <iframe>. It's a widget that will be embedded in third-party websites. I don't set the "src" attribute of the <iframe> since I don't want to load a page; rather, it is used to isolate/sandbox the content that I insert into it so that I don't run into CSS or JavaScript conflicts with the parent page. I'm using JSONP to load some HTML content from a server and insert it in this <iframe>. I have this working fine, with one serious exception - if the document.domain property is set in the parent page (which it may be in certain environments in which this widget is deployed), Internet Explorer (probably all versions, but I've confirmed in 6, 7, and 8) gives me an "Access is denied" error when I try to access the document object of this <iframe> I've created. It doesn't happen in any other browsers I've tested in (all major modern ones). This makes some sense, since I'm aware that Internet Explorer requires you to set the document.domain of all windows/frames that will communicate with each other to the same value. However, I'm not aware of any way to set this value on a document that I can't access. Is anyone aware of a way to do this - somehow set the document.domain property of this dynamically created <iframe>? Or am I not looking at it from the right angle - is there another way to achieve what I'm going for without running into this problem? I do need to use an <iframe> in any case, as the isolated/sandboxed window is crucial to the functionality of this widget. • iPhone/Obj-C: Accessing a UIScrollView from a View displayed within it.

  I'm writing a simple iPhone app which lets a user access a series of calculators. It consists of the following: UITableViewController (RootViewController), with the list of calculators. UIViewController + UIScrollView (UniversalScroller), which represents an empty scroll view - and has a 'displayedViewController' property. UIViewController (Calculators 1-9), each of which contains a view with controls that represents a particular calculator. Each calculator takes 3-5 values via UITextFields and UISliders, and has a 'calculate' button. They can potentially be taller than 460px(iPhone screen height). The idea is: User taps on a particular menu item in the RootViewController. This loads and inits UniversalScroller, ALSO loads and inits the UIViewcontroller for the particular calculator that was selected, sets the displayedViewController property of UniversalScroller to the newly loaded calculator UIViewcontroller, and pushes the UniversalScroller to the front. When the UniversalScroller hits its 'viewDidLoad' event, it sets its contentSize to the view frame size of its 'displayedViewController' object. It then adds the displayedViewController's view as a subview to itself, and sets its own title to equal that of the displayedViewController. It now displays the calculator, along with the correct title, in a scrollable form. Conceptually (and currently; this stuff has all been implemented already), this works great - I can design the calculators how I see fit, as tall as they end up being, and they will automatically be accommodated and displayed in an appropriately configured UIScrollView. However, there is one problem: The main reason I wanted to display things in a UIScrollView was so that, when the on-screen-keyboard appeared, I could shift the view up to focus on the control that is currently being edited. To do this, I need access to the UniversalScroller object that is holding the current calculator's view. On the beganEditing: event of each control, I intended to use the [UniversalScroller.view scrollRectToVisible: animated:] method to move focus to the correct control. However, I am having trouble accessing the UniversalScroller. I tried assigning a reference to it as a property of each calculator UIViewController, but did't seem to have much luck. I've read about using Delegates but have had trouble working out exactly how they work. I'm looking for one of three things: Some explanation of how I can access the methods of a UIScrollView from a UIViewController whose view is contained within it. or Confirmation of my suspicions that making users scroll on a data entry form is bad, and I should just abandon scrollviews altogether and move the view up and down to the relevant position when the keyboard appears, then back when it disappears. or Some pointers on how I could go about redesigning the calculators (which are basically simple data entry forms using labels, sliders and textfields) to be contained within UITableViewCells (presumably in a UITableView, which I understand is a scrollview deep down) - I read a post on SO saying that that's a more pleasing way to make a data entry form, but I couldn't find any examples of that online. Screenshots would be nice. Anything to make my app more usable and naturally 'iPhone-like', since shuffling labels and textboxes around makes me feel like I am building a winforms app! I've only recently started with this platform and language, and despite being largely an Apple skeptic I definitely see the beauty in the way that it works. I also see the call to the InternalConverter.Convert method, which sees the expected parameters (I see the collection provided by the nested {Binding}) and is successfully able to retrieve the ICollectionView for the incoming collection. The only problem is that FilterInternal never gets called. The template is ultimately being used by a TreeView, if that's relevant. I haven't been able to figure out why the FilterInternal method is not being called and I was hoping somebody might be able to offer some insight.

• How to group using XSLT

  I'm having trouble grouping a set of nodes. I've found an article that does work with grouping and i have tested it and it works on a small test stylesheet i have I now need to use it in my stylesheet where I only want to select node sets that have a specific value. What I want to do in my stylesheet is select all users who have a userlevel of 2 then to group them by the volunteer region. What happens at the minute is that it gets the right amount of users with userlevel 2 but doesn't print them. As can be seen from the xaml, I've decided that it makes sense for me to try to use Commands as a way to handle various operations that the user can perform with Tasks. I'm doing this with the eventual goal of factoring all command logic into a more formally-defined Controller layer, but I'm trying to refactor one step at a time. The problem that I'm encountering is related to the interaction between the command in the UserControl's ContextMenu and the command's CanExecute, defined in the Window. When the application first starts and the saved Tasks are restored into TaskStopwatches on the Window, no actual UI elements are selected. If I then immediately r-click a UserControl in the Window in an attempt to execute the ViewTaskProperties command, the CanExecute handler never runs and the menu item remains disabled. If I then click some UI element (e.g., the button) just to give something focus, the CanExecute handlers are run with the CanExecuteRoutedEventArgs's Source property set to the UI element that has the focus. • How do I use Sketchflow sample data for a ListBoxItem Template at design time?

  I am using Expression Blend 4 and Visual Studio 2010 to create a Sketchflow prototype. I have a Sample Data collection and a ListBox that is bound to it. This displays as I would expect both at design time and at run time. However, the ListBoxItem template it just complex enough that I wanted to pull it out into its own XAML file. Even though the items still render as expected in the main ListBox where the template is used, when I open the template itself, all of the databound controls are empty. If I add a DataContext to the template, I can see and work with the populated objects while in the template, but then that local DataContext overrides the DataContext set on the listbox. A bit of code will illustrate. Start by creating a Sketchflow project (I am using Silverlight, but it should work the same for WPF), then add a project data source called SampleDataSource. Add a collection called ListData, with a single String property called Title. How can I have sample data displayed when I am working with the template, while still allowing the larger set of sample data to be used for the ListBox itself?

• ModalPopupExtender z-index value decreases after every show

  This is a new one I have never seen before. I have a gridview containing a bunch of categories that can be edited by clicking on the respective "Edit" link within the gridview. The modalpopupextender is then shown programmatically (.show() method) and the user is allowed to edit the category. Then the modal popup is programmtically hidden (.hide() method) when the user presses "Update" or "Cancel". For some reason after every new show of the modal popup, the z-index is decreasing by 1000 until it is hidden behind everything on my page. It starts at 7000 for the very first show. Therefore the user would not be able to edit an infinite number of categories if they wanted to. Any ideas why this is happening? • Google Maps Polygon - Not creating independent

• Comments show up in database, but only show up on my index page after a refresh.

  Hi, I have AJAX, PHP, jquery, and mySQL in this very simple website I'm trying to make. All there is is a text area that sends data to the database and uses ajax\jquery to display that data onto the index page. For some reason though, I press submit and the data goes to the database, but I have to refresh the page myself to see that data on the page. I'm assuming that the problem has to do with my AJAX JQuery or even some mistake in the index. Also, when I type the text into the text area and press submit, the text remains in the textarea until I refresh the page. Haha, sorry if this is such a noob question.. I'm trying to learn. • Samplegrabber works fine on AVI/MPEG files but choppy with WMV

  I have been using the latest version of the WPFMediaKit. What I am trying to do is write a sample application that will use the Samplegrabber to capture the video frames of video files so I can have them as individual Bitmaps. So far, I have had good luck with the following code when constructing and rendering my graph. However, when I use this code to play back a .wmv video file, when the samplegrabber is attached, it will play back jumpy or choppy. If I comment out the line where I add the samplegrabber filter, it works fine. I have attempted inserting a WMAsfReader to decode which works, but once it goes to the VMR9 it gives the same behavior. Also, I have gotten it to work correctly when I comment out the IBaseFilter renderer = CreateVideoMixingRenderer9(m_graph, 1); line and have filterGraph.Render(pins[0]); -- the only drawback is that now it renders in an Activemovie widow of its own instead of my control, however the samplegrabber functions correctly and without any skipping. So I am thinking the bug is in the VMR9 / samplegrabbing somewhere. Any help? I am new to this.
