  • WPF: Filter TreeView without collapsing it's nodes

    This one is a follow-up question. I filter the top level nodes of a TreeView control like shown below. private void ApplyFilterHandler(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (_filterCheckBox.IsChecked.Value) CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(TopLevelNodes).Filter += MyFilter; else CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(TopLevelNodes).Filter -= MyFilter; } . <TreeView ItemsSource="{Binding TopLevelNodes}"> ... </TreeView> When the user applies the filter all nodes get collapsed. Question How can I hide certain nodes in a tree while retaining the expand state of the other nodes? Can someone explain, what happens internally on ICollectionView.Filter += MyFilter.   • Add collection or array to wpf resource dictionary

    I've search high and low and can't find an answer to this. I have two questions How do you create an array or collection in XAML. I've got an array I want to stick in there and bind to a combo box. My first idea was to put an ItemsControl in a resource dictionary, but the ItemsSource of a combo box expects IEnumerable so that didn't work. Here's what I've tried in my resource dictionary and neither works <ItemsControl x:Key="stateList"> <sys:String>AL</sys:String> <sys:String>CA</sys:String> <sys:String>CN</sys:String> </ItemsControl> <ItemsControl x:Key="stateList2"> <ComboBoxItem>AL</ComboBoxItem> <ComboBoxItem>CA</ComboBoxItem> <ComboBoxItem>CN</ComboBoxItem> </ItemsControl> and here's how I bind to it <ComboBox SelectedValue="{Binding Path=State}" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource stateList2}}" > </ComboBox> EDIT: UPDATED I got this first part to work this way <col:ArrayList x:Key="stateList3"> <sys:String>AL</sys:String> <sys:String>CA</sys:String> <sys:String>CN</sys:String> </col:ArrayList> However, I'd rather not use an array list, I'd like to use a generic list so if anyone knows how please let me know. EDIT UPDATE: I guess XAML has very limited support for generics so maybe an array list is the best I can do for now, but I would still like help on the second question if anyone has an anser 2nd. I've tried referencing a merged resource dictionary in my XAML and had problems because under Window.resources I had more than just the dictionary so it required me to add x:Key. Once I add the key, the system can no longer find the items in my resource dictionary. I had to move the merged dictionary to Grid.Resources instead. Ideally I'd like to reference the merged dictionary in the app.xaml but I have the same problem Here's some sample code. This works great in Convert(). What is the right way to solve this? I have tried making the binding OneWay and create an additional multibinding for local:SPoint.Slope, but that causes infinite recursion and stack overflow. I was thinking the ConverterParameter could be used, but it seems like it's not possible to bind to it.

  • Paragraph formatting in a WPF RichTextBox?

    I need to apply paragraph formatting to a selection in a rich text box. My RTB will behave the same way as the rich text boxes on StackOverflow--the user can type text into the RTB, but they can also enter code blocks. The RTB will apply very simple formatting to the code block--it will change the font and apply a background color to the entire block, similar to what you see in the code block below. Changing the font is pretty straightforward: var textRange = new TextRange(rtb.Selection.Start, rtb.Selection.End); textRange.ApplyPropertyValue(TextElement.FontFamilyProperty, "Consolas"); textRange.ApplyPropertyValue(TextElement.FontSizeProperty, 10D ); Now I need to apply some paragraph-level formatting. I need to set the paragraph margin to 0, so I don't get a blank line between code lines, and I need to set the paragraph background color. Here's my problem: I can't figure out how to get the paragraph elements from the selection, so that I can apply formatting. Any suggestions? An example of how to apply the Margin and Background properties would be incredibly helpful. Thanks!

  • WPF Delay Refresh of UI Elements in ItemsControl

    Hello All, The short question is - how can I prevent (delay) a bound UI element from refreshing until I want it to? The longer explanation: I have a process that adds a number of items to an ItemsControl, and then performs some additional calculations on those items using a background thread. This (correctly) updates the items as it goes along. However, I would like to prevent the ItemsControl from updating during a particular calculation, as it performs some reordering of the items before it does additional calculations based on that order, and then returns the items to their original order. I do show a "Please Wait" animation on top of the ItemsControl, with the ItemsControl dimmed down as it is working, but I'd rather not hide the ItemsControl entirely because it gives the user an indication that progress is being made.   • ObservableCollection is not updating Multibinding in C# WPF

    I have a TreeView that creates all its items from databound ObservableCollections. I have a hierarchy of GameNode objects, each object has two ObservableCollections. One collections has EntityAttrib objects and the other have GameNode objects. You could say that the GameNode object represents folders and EntityAttrib represents files. To display both attrib and GameNodes in the same TreeView I use Multibinding. This all works fine in startup, but when I add a new GameNode somewhere in the hierarchy the TreeView is not updated. I set a breakpoint in my converter method but it's not called when adding a new GameNode. It seems that the ObservableCollection is not notifying the MultiBinding of the change. If I comment out the MultiBinding and only bind the GameNode collection it works as expected.     Project Overview I have a view which binds to a viewmodel containing 2 ObserverableCollection. The viewmodel constructor populates the first ObserverableCollection and the view datacontext is collected to bind to it through a public property called Sites. Later the 2ed ObserverableCollection is populated in the LoadOrders method and the public property LoadFraudResults is updated for binding it with datacontext. I am using WCF to pull the data from the database and its getting pulled very nicely. In other words the datagrid doesnot get changed when the datacontext is called the 2ed time in BindItemsSource method of the view. manageFraudOrderViewModel.LoadOrders(website); this.DataContext = manageFraudOrderViewModel; manageFraudOrderViewModel values are correct but the datagrid is not relected with changed values.     I'm using MVVM and am trying to databind the Source property of Image to my ViewModel in such a way that I can change the icon on the fly. What is the best pattern to follow for this? I still have the flexibility to change my ViewModel to suit, but I don't know where to start in either the xaml or ViewModel. To be clear, I don't want my ViewModel to know about the specific images (that's for the View to know), just the state that triggers different images. For now I have just two states, lets say Red and Green. Should I create an Enum property or a bool? And then how do I databind to switch the image source?

The user is able to navigate from cell to cell within the matrix and I would like to highlight the data in the selected textbox but it doesn't work. I called TextBox.Focus () and TextBox.SelectAll () to achieve the effect but nothing. The Focus () works but the text never gets highlighted. Any help is welcome and appreciated.

    Well the problem is that I have this enum, BUT I don't want the combobox to show the values of the enum. This is the enum: public enum Mode { [Description("Display active only")] Active, [Description("Display selected only")] Selected, [Description("Display active and selected")] ActiveAndSelected } So in the ComboBox instead of displaying Active, Selected or ActiveAndSelected, I want to display the DescriptionProperty for each value of the enum. I do have an extension method called GetDescription() for the enum: public static string GetDescription(this Enum enumObj) { FieldInfo fieldInfo = enumObj.GetType().GetField(enumObj.ToString()); object[] attribArray = fieldInfo.GetCustomAttributes(false); if (attribArray.Length == 0) { return enumObj.ToString(); } else { DescriptionAttribute attrib = attribArray[0] as DescriptionAttribute; return attrib.Description; } } So is there a way I can bind the enum to the ComboBox AND show it's content with the GetDescription extension method?     Hello, I have a Viewbox with a Canvas Child, I have the Stretch property of Viewbox to Fill, I have changed the width and height of the Viewbox, I need to get the location of children in Canvas with respect to Viewbox parent I tried : Point p = viewboxInstance.TranslatePoint(new Point(Canvas.GetLeft(child), Canvas.GetTop(child)), viewboxInstanceParent); it gets wrong coordinates! Is there a solution or work around ? Thanks

    I am trying to change the color of a cell to Yellow if the value has been updated in the DataGrid. Each value in the array is a custom object that contains an IsDirty dependency property. The IsDirty property gets set when the value is changed. When i run this: change a value in column 1 = whole row goes yellow change a value in any other column = nothing happens I want only the changed cell to go yellow no matter what column its in. Do you see anything wrong with my XAML?

  • Creating a semi-transparent blurred background WPF

    Hi guys, I have a border, i want the background of this border to be partially transparent (opacity 0.8) but i do not want the image behind it to be well defined. The effect i am after is similar to the Windows Vista window border effect, where you can see that something is behind it but you cant tell what it is. A few clarifications: I am working on Windows XP, so i cant use Vista Glass I need this solution to be portable across any windows platform Any help would be appreciated :)

  • Improve WPF Rendering Performance (WrapPanel in ItemsControl)

    Hello All, I have an ItemsSource that appears to have poor performance when adding even a fairly small ObservableCollection to it. The ItemsPanel is a WrapPanel, and the ItemTemplate is essentially a Border containing another Border painted with an ImageBrush. The ItemsControl is wrapped inside a ScrollViewer. After some investigation using WpfPerf, it would appear that most of the "what the heck is it doing?" time is spent on WrapPanel.Measure after creating the collection that is being bound. As I've mentioned, it's a fairly small collection - generally less than 100 items. If nothing else, I'd like to be able to put a "Please Wait" on the screen (during the collection creation portion as well), but I am not sure how to know when the rendering is complete. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, wTs

If the current date and Time is 17-Jun-2010 , 12:25 PM , I want user cannot give date before 17 Jun -2010 and time before 12:25 PM. Like my function return false if the time entered by user is 16-Jun-2010 and time 12:24 PM Please help!!
