  • Javascript AJAX function returns undefined instead of true / false

    I have a function that issues an AJAX call (via jQuery). In the complete section I have a function that says: complete: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus) { if(textStatus == "success") { return(true); } else { return(false); } } However, if I call this like so: if(callajax()) { // Do something } else { // Something else } The first is never called. If I put an alert(textStatus) in the complete function I get true, but not before that function returns undefined.

  • JUnit Easymock Unexpected method call

    Hi, I'm trying to setup a test in JUnit w/ EasyMock and I'm running into a small issue that I can't seem to wrap my head around. I was hoping someone here could help. Here is a simplified version of the method I'm trying to test: public void myMethod() { //Some code executing here Obj myObj = this.service.getObj(param); if (myObj.getExtId() != null) { OtherObj otherObj = new OtherObj(); otherObj.setId(myObj.getExtId()); this.dao.insert(otherObj); } //Some code executing there } Ok so using EasyMock I've mocked the service.getObj(myObj) call and that works fine. My problem comes when JUnit hits the dao.insert(otherObj) call. EasyMock throws a "Unexpected Method Call" on it. I wouldn't mind mocking that dao in my test and using expectLastCall().once(); on it, but that assumes that I have a handle on the "otherObj" that's passed as a parameter at insert time... Which of course I don't since it's conditionally created within the context of the method being tested. Anyone has ever had to deal with that and somehow solved it? Thanks.

    Hi, having recently joined a project with a vast amount of code to get to grips with, I would like to start documenting and visualizing some of the flows through the call graph to give me a better understanding of how everything fits together. This is what I would like to see in my ideal tool: every node is a function/method nodes are connected if one function can call another optional square box in between detailing conditions under which call is made (or a label icon you can hover over like a tooltip) also icon on edge describing parameters hover over node and description is displayed optional icons for node to display pseudo code scenario/domain view - display subset of complete diagram for particular use-case slide view mode - for each frame, the currently executing function is highlighted plenty of options over what to display to reduce on-screen clutter the interactive use of such a tool is key, I'm not looking for a Graphviz type solution because there would be too much clutter. The ability to form a view of a subset of the entire graph would be very handy (maybe with the unimportant clutter greyed out). Don't need automatic generation from source code, happy to enter it manually. Almost like a mind-map. Does that make sense? If you are not aware of such a tool, do you also think it would be useful? (Just in case I decide to go and scratch that itch one day!)

  • Inverted function keys (F1-F12) on HP Pavilion dv4t

    (I know there have already been a lot of questions about this, but none of them mentioned the dv4t specifically.) I'm thinking about getting an HP Pavilion dv4t-4200 or -5100, but something that's really irritating me is that by default the function keys (F1-F12) are "inverted"—without holding the Fn key, the function keys do things like change the brightness, change or mute the volume, and switch to an external display. Only if you hold Fn will they actually produce F1, F2, etc. This is not how keyboards are supposed to work. Is there any way to disable this "feature" that has been verified to work on the HP Pavilion dv4t-4200 or HP Pavilion dv4t-5100? I don't want to buy this computer unless this is possible.

  • How to change a function/formula in a whole column where I also have empty cells

    I have a column with a formula/function that has other cells as parameters. However in the column, every few rows I have a subtotal and blanks, for readability. Now I decided to change the formula/function but I can not do copy+paste on the whole column because of the subtotals/blank cells, and I can not do change+replace because there are parameters in the functions that uses other cells and thus it is different in each cell in the column. For example, if the formula is =if(A5>24,1,"") and I want to change it to =AA_userfn(A5,B5) Any idea how to change it easily? currently I copy+paste few rows at a time, but that is tedious. Maybe a Sub that will go all over the column (the column number as an input parameter) and looks for =if(, and then replaces it with =aa_userfn(Ax, By) where Ax and By are calculated based on the position of the cell currently changed in reference to the previous values in that cell. Any ideas will be welcomed

  • Special function keys are mixed up on my Macbook Pro

    I recently sent my Macbook Pro (late 2008 model) to get a replaced logic board and top cover. When I got it back the Special function keys are mixed up. F3 - mutes sound - it should do expose f4 - decreases volume - it should show the dashboard f5 - increases volume ....etc, ... F11 - expose - it should decrease volume f12 - dashboard - it should increase volume I have checked and made sure that System PreferencesKeyboard"use all F keys as standard function keys" is not selected. And that no accessibility options are switched on either. How do I fix this? or should I bring it back to the repair shop? Thanks

They're long, and they work, so I'll spare you reading my code. :) I simply need a way for my functions to determine how to handle the data. Until now, the function did one thing: Submit a report for the current user. NOW, the client has requested that an administrator also be able to complete a form--this means that the form would be filled out, and it would CREATE a user at the same time, whereas the current function EDITS and is accessed by an EXISTING user. Do I need a separate function to do essentially the same thing? How do I make one function perform two tasks? One to update a user, and if there is no user, create one.     In Javascript, if we are aliasing a function, such as in: f = g; f = obj.display; obj.f = foo; all the 3 lines above, they will work as long as the function / method on the right hand side doesn't touch this? Since we are passing in all the arguments, the only way it can mess up is when the function / method on the right uses this? Actually, line 1 is probably ok if g is also a property of window? If g is referencing obj.display, then the same problem is there. In line 2, when obj.display touches this, it is to mean the obj, but when f() is invoked, the this is window, so they are different. In line 3, it is the same: when f() is invoked inside of obj's code, then the this is obj, while foo might be using this to refer to window if it were a property of window. (global function). So line 2 can be written as f = function() { obj.display.apply(obj, arguments) } and line 3: obj.f = function() { foo.apply(window, arguments) } Is this the correct method, and are there there other methods besides this?

    Ok, I am trying to place parameters into a function that is called like so: $parameters['function']($parameters['params']); Here is the function and the parameters that I need to be placed into this: $parameters['function'] = 'test_error'; $parameters['params'] = array(0 => $txt['sometext'], 1 => 'critical', 2 => true); The test_error function takes 3 parameters: The error to output The type of error noted within a string value ('general', 'critical', etc. etc.). What am I doing wrong here with the $parameters['params']??

    We transit from ring3 to ring0 using 'int' or the new 'syscall/sysenter' instruction. Does that mean that the page tables and other stuffs that needs to be modified for the kernel is automatically done by the 'int' instruction or the interrupt handler for the 'int 0x80' will do the required stuff and jump to the respective system call. Also when returning from a system call, we again need to go to user space. For this we need to know the instruction address in the user space to continue the user application. Where is that address stored. Does the 'ret' instruction automatically changes the ring from ring3 to ring0 or where/how this ring changing mechanism takes place? Then, i read that changing from ring3 to ring0 is not as costly as changing from ring0 to ring3. Why is this so?? Thanks, Bala

    Hi, I see C books that use the same variable names in the function definition, calling function and declaration. Others use the same variable names in the calling function and in the declaration/prototype but a different one in the definition as in: void blabla(int something); //prototype blabla(something) // calling function inside main after something has been initialized to int void blabla(int something_else) //definition I have two questions: What convention is best to use in C?; Does the convention apply regardless whether a value is being passed "by-value" or if it's being passed by a pointer?   • not returning anything from postgresql function?

    Is it possible for a PostgreSQL plpgsql function to not return anything? I've created a function, and I don't need it to return anything at all, as it performs a complex SQL query, and inserts the results of that query into another table (SELECT INTO ....). Thus, I have no need or interest in having the function return any output or value. Unfortunately, when I try to omit the RETURN clause of the function declaration, I can't create the function. Is it possible for a PostgreSQL plpgsql function to not return anything?

    Hi I have an already built application and I want to add a feature that has to be started when a call ends. How can I achieve that? I thought that declaring in my manifest something like this <activity android:name="Filter"> <intent-filter> <category android:name="android.intent.SOMETHING" /> </intent-filter> </activity> could be enough, but what kind of intent I have to put on the filter? Looking in the documentation I found only the intents that detects when a call is started. Is what I'm looking for possible? Thanks

So normally, I do it like this: $('#selectRoom a').click( function(e) { e.preventDefault(); // To prevent the default behavior (following the link or adding # to URL) // Do some function specific logic here }); However, I would like to do it like this, to clean things up (and be able to reuse): $('#selectRoom a').click( selectRoom ); function selectRoom () { e.preventDefault(); // To prevent the default behavior (following the link or adding # to URL) // Do some function specific logic here } The problem is, i cant pass the "e" event-handler to the function, then the selectRoom() function is called on load. i.e: $('#selectRoom a').click( selectRoom(e) ); Can I fix this somehow?

  • Turning a spreadsheet into array and loop and call a function

    This is related to generate groups in BuddyPress. I have a spreadsheet with (in this case) a group name, group description and slug. I need to grab the information from the file, turn it into an array, then loop through it and call groups_create_group() every time. I can find that function in bp-groups.php (http://www.nomorepasting.com/getpaste.php?pasteid=35217). It tells me all the parameters you need to fill in. I'm quite new to this and looking for how I can do this. Do you know how I can grab this information and turn it into an array? An loop it through and call groups_create_group() every time?
