• JPanel's child components paint/layout problem

- by Tom Brito
I'm having a problem that when my frame is shown (after a login dialog) the buttons are not on correct position, then in some miliseconds they go to the right position (the center of the panel with border layout). When I make a SSCCE, it works correct, but when I run my whole code I have this fast-miliseconds delay to the buttons to go to the correct place. Unfortunately, I can't post the whole code, but the method that shows the frame is: public void login(JComponent userView) { centerPanel.removeAll(); centerPanel.add(userView); centerPanel.revalidate(); centerPanel.repaint(); frame.setVisible(true); } What would cause this delay to the panel layout? (I'm running everything in the EDT) -- update In my machine, this SSCCE shows the layout problem in 2 of 10 times I run it: import java.awt.BorderLayout; import javax.swing.JButton; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.SwingUtilities; public class TEST { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { System.out.println("Debug test..."); JPanel btnPnl = new JPanel(); btnPnl.add(new JButton("TEST")); JFrame f = new JFrame("TEST"); f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); f.getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout()); f.getContentPane().add(btnPnl); f.pack(); f.setSize(800, 600); f.setVisible(true); System.out.println("End debug test!"); } }); } } The button first appers in the up-left, and then it goes to the center. Please, note that I'm understand, not just correct. Is it a java bug? --update OK, so the SSCCE don't show the problem with you that tried till now. Maybe it's my computer performance problem. But this don't answer the question, I still think Java Swing is creating new threads for make the layout behind the scenes.

• Help identify the layout used here?

- by Matt Huggins
I'm working on a layout that comprises some of the same features seen in the screenshot below, but I'm running into a bit of confusion. Can someone help me understand a few points for the screenshot below? What is the root layout used here? How do I get the button bar to remain at the bottom, while the center section scrolls when it is long enough? Similar to the Ok/Cancel buttons seen here, how do I make them each 50% width (minus some margin and padding)?

• How to create a generic Android XML layout for all activities

- by zabawaba
I have an application that needs the same items [5 buttons acting as tabs] in every screen. Is it possible to create a "base XML layout" that has these 5 buttons and then have all the other XML files extend from the bas layout in some way so that I don't have to have multiple buttons that will ultimately have the same functionality. Is there a better approach to this problem that can be supported by API 9

• Android: Use XML Layout for List Cell rather than Java Code Layout (Widgets)

- by Stephen Finucane
Hi, I'm in the process of making a music app and I'm currently working on the library functionality. I'm having some problems, however, in working with a list view (In particular, the cells). I'm trying to move from a simple textview layout in each cell that's created within java to one that uses an XML file for layout (Hence keeping the Java file mostly semantic) This is my original code for the cell layout: public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { String id = null; TextView tv = new TextView(mContext.getApplicationContext()); if (convertView == null) { music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Media.TITLE); musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); id = musiccursor.getString(music_column_index); music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Media.DISPLAY_NAME); musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); id += "\n" + musiccursor.getString(music_column_index); music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Albums.ALBUM); musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); id += "\n" + musiccursor.getString(music_column_index); tv.setText(id); } else tv = (TextView) convertView; return tv; } And my new version: public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { View cellLayout = findViewById(R.id.albums_list_cell); ImageView album_art = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.album_cover); TextView album_title = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.album_title); TextView artist_title = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.artist_title); if (convertView == null) { music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Albums.ALBUM); musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); album_title.setText(musiccursor.getString(music_column_index)); //music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Media.DISPLAY_NAME); //musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); music_column_index = musiccursor.getColumnIndexOrThrow(MediaStore.Audio.Media.TITLE); musiccursor.moveToPosition(position); artist_title.setText(musiccursor.getString(music_column_index)); } else{ cellLayout = (TextView) convertView; } return cellLayout; } The initialisation (done in the on create file): musiclist = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.PhoneMusicList); musiclist.setAdapter(new MusicAdapter(this)); musiclist.setOnItemClickListener(musicgridlistener); And the respective XML files: (main) <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <ListView android:id="@+id/PhoneMusicList" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> <TextView android:id="@android:id/empty" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="0dip" android:layout_weight="1.0" android:text="@string/no_list_data" /> </LinearLayout> (albums_list_cell) <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/albums_list_cell" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/album_cover" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_width="50dip" android:layout_height="50dip" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/album_title" android:layout_toRightOf="@+id/album_cover" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/artist_title" android:layout_toRightOf="@+id/album_cover" android:layout_below="@+id/album_title" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="15dip" /> </RelativeLayout> In theory (based on the tiny bit of Android I've done so far) this should work..it doesn't though. Logcat gives me a null pointer exception at line 96 of the faulty code, which is the album_title.setText line. It could be a problem with my casting but Google tells me this is ok :D Thanks for any help and let me know if you need more info!

• When installing Ubuntu (with Unity), I can't select the keyboard layout.

- by Pascual
I can select language, (I wanted English), but I wanted to select "international (with dead tilde)" and I cannot find an option to do it unlike Xubuntu or Lubuntu. Usually, in previous editions, before unity, there were two columns ... one for selecting language and other to select the kind of layout and there was a box so you can test the keyboard. Now, there is only one column and I need the dead tilde. How can I do it? Why is Ubuntu hiding these options? Thanks

• What are the default layout settings in gnome-terminal?

- by Exeleration-G
I want to replace gnome-terminal fully by lxterminal. I've started by changing the default terminal emulator. So I ran sudo update-alternatives --config x-terminal-emulator, and chose lxterminal. After that, I ran dconf-editor and went to org - gnome - desktop - applications - terminal and changed gnome-terminal to lxterminal and removed the -x in the exec arg part. The only problem though, is that by default, lxterminal doesn't look like gnome-terminal. What are gnome-terminal's default layout settings? I'm especially looking for the hexadecimal colour codes for both text and background.

• ExtJs - Set a fixed width in a center layout in a Panel

- by Benjamin
Hi all, Using ExtJs. I'm trying to design a main which is divided into three sub panels (a tree list, a grid and a panel). The way it works is that you have a tree list (west) with elements, you click on an element which populates the grid (center), then you click on an element in the grid and that generates the panel (west). My main panel containing the three other ones has been defined with a layout 'border'. Now the problem I face is that the center layout (the grid) has been defined in the code with a fixed width and the west panel as an auto width. But when the interface gets generated, the grid width is suddenly taking all the space in the interface instead of the west panel. The code looks like that: var exploits_details_panel = new Ext.Panel({ region: 'east', autoWidth: true, autoScroll: true, html: 'test' }); var exploit_commands = new Ext.grid.GridPanel({ store: new Ext.data.Store({ autoDestroy: true }), sortable: true, autoWidth: false, region: 'center', stripeRows: true, autoScroll: true, border: true, width: 225, columns: [ {header: 'command', width: 150, sortable: true}, {header: 'date', width: 70, sortable: true} ] }); var exploits_tree = new Ext.tree.TreePanel({ border: true, region: 'west', width: 200, useArrows: true, autoScroll: true, animate: true, containerScroll: true, rootVisible: false, root: {nodeType: 'async'}, dataUrl: '/ui/modules/select/exploits/tree', listeners: { 'click': function(node) { } } }); var exploits = new Ext.Panel({ id: 'beef-configuration-exploits', title: 'Auto-Exploit', region: 'center', split: true, autoScroll: true, layout: { type: 'border', padding: '5', align: 'left' }, items: [exploits_tree, exploit_commands, exploits_details_panel] }); Here 'var exploits' is my main panel containing the three other sub panels. The 'exploits_tree' is the tree list containing some elements. When you click on one of the elements the grid 'exploit_commands' gets populated and when you click in one of the populated elements, the 'exploits_details_panel' panel gets generated. How can I set a fixed width on 'exploit_commands'? Thanks for your time.

• TextBlock Wrapping in WPF Layout

- by Joel Martinez
Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to do something similar to the twitter silverlight app that Scott Guthrie demoed recently in WPF: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2010/03/18/building-a-windows-phone-7-twitter-application-using-silverlight.aspx Unfortunately, I seem to be having a hard time understanding the wpf layout system in some fundamental way. I've been trying various combinations of horizontalalignment/stretch, width/auto at different levels in the hierarchy, and I can't seem to get the "message" textblock to wrap without assigning an explicit width. All I want is for the text to wrap based on the width of the window (or whatever is the parent container). <Window x:Class="TweeterWin.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300" Loaded="Window_Loaded"> <ScrollViewer Height="auto" > <ListBox Name="tweetList" Height="auto" > <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" Height="132">
<StackPanel > <TextBlock Text="{Binding User}" TextWrapping="Wrap" Foreground="#FFC8AB14" FontSize="15" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Message}" TextWrapping="Wrap" FontSize="10" /> </StackPanel> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> </ScrollViewer> </Window> As a follow up, if anyone can send any links my way that might help me understand some of these layout fundamentals. I think I understand the main layout options (canvas, grid, stackpanel, etc.), but I dont' understand why I can't get this textblock to wrap in this scenario. Thanks!

• Android: Creating a Scrollable Layout

- by MD
I'm trying to create a "scrollable" layout in Android. Even using developers.android.com, though, I feel a little bit lost at the moment. I'm somewhat new to Java, but not so much that I feel I should be having these issues--being new to Android is the bigger problem right now. The layout I'm trying to create should scroll in a sort of a "grid". I THINK what I'm looking for is the Gallery view, but I'm really lost as to how to implement it at the moment. I want it to "snap" to center the frame, like in the actual Gallery application. Essentially, if I had a photo gallery of 9 pictures, the idea is to scroll between them up/down AND side to side, in a 3x3 manner. Doesn't need to dynamically adjust, or anything like that, I just want a grid I can scroll through. I'm also not asking for anyone to give me explicit code for it--I'm trying to learn, more than anything. But pointing me in the right direction for helpful layout programming resources would be greatly appreciated, and confirming if it's a Gallery view I'm looking for would also be really helpful. EDIT: To clarify, the goal is to have ONE item on screen at a time. If you scroll between one item and the next, the previous one leaves the screen, and the new one snaps into place. So if it were a photo gallery, each spot on the grid would take up the entire screen size, approximately, and would be flung out of the viewable area when you slide across to the next photo, in either direction. (Photos are just an example for illustration purposes)

• NotFoundException in layout editor for Android?

- by borg17of20
I'm trying to extend a RelativeLayout object and include an embedded SurfaceView object that uses a png file in my /res/drawable folder as its background but I keep getting an error in the XML Layout editor. See the following code: public class StopMotionRelativeLayout extends RelativeLayout { private Context myContext; private SurfaceView surfaceView1; private BitmapFactory.Options myBitmapOptions; private final android.view.ViewGroup.LayoutParams params = new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, android.view.ViewGroup.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT); public StopMotionRelativeLayout(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); myContext = context; this.setBackgroundColor(Color.GREEN); //init images surfaceView1 = new SurfaceView(myContext, attrs); surfaceView1.setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE); this.addView(surfaceView1, params); } @Override protected void onMeasure(int widthMeasureSpec, int heightMeasureSpec) { super.onMeasure(widthMeasureSpec, heightMeasureSpec); myBitmapOptions = new Options(); myBitmapOptions.outWidth = widthMeasureSpec; myBitmapOptions.outHeight = heightMeasureSpec; surfaceView1.setBackgroundDrawable(new BitmapDrawable(BitmapFactory.decodeResource(this.myContext.getResources(), R.drawable.golf1, myBitmapOptions))); } } I get the following error: NotFoundException: Could not find drawable resource matching value 0x7F020002 (resolved name: golf1) in current configuration. I have seen this type of error may times now and it always happens when I try to load something from a resource file via code and not XML. Curiously, this error does not stop me from compiling the app, and the app runs without error in the emulator. I'd like to get back the use of my layout editor though... Please help. UPDATE: Here is the layout XML <com.games.test.StopMotionRelativeLayout android:id="@+id/RelativeLayout01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> </com.games.test.StopMotionRelativeLayout>

• Layout resize animation

- by Marcin Sosna
I have layout: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical" > <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/main_fragment_container" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/left_fragments_layout" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:background="#00F"> </RelativeLayout> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/graph_fragment_container" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="2.2" android:background="#666"> </RelativeLayout> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/right_fragments_layout" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" android:background="#00F"> </RelativeLayout> When I set visibility to GONE on left and right fragment container then they are animated to left and right. I try to set scale animation on resize center graph_fragment_container, my code: <scale android:fromXScale="100%" android:toXScale="50%" android:fillAfter="true" android:fillEnabled="true" android:duration="7000" /> Java code: Animation toLeftOut = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation( MainActivity.this, R.anim.to_left_out ); Animation toRightOut = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation( MainActivity.this, R.anim.to_right_out ); Animation scale = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation( MainActivity.this, R.anim.scal ); graphContainer.startAnimation( scale ); leftFragmentsLayout.startAnimation( toLeftOut ); rightFragmentsLayout.startAnimation( toRightOut ); Now graphContainer was resize after right and left layout animation end, and user see a grey backgound before center layout was resize.

• Javascript Graph Layout Engine

- by GJK
I'm looking for a Javascript library/engine that can do graph layouts. (And when I say layouts, I mean logically position vertices nicely.) The graphs I'm working with are all m-ary trees. M is usually no more than 5 or 6, but it can be greater in some cases. I do have something that I use now, Graphviz's node program, and it works perfectly. The problem is, when running a web app, I have to send a request to the server every time I want a layout. Preferably, I would like something written in Javascript that can be quickly run on the client side. All it needs to do is provide layout information (relative positioning and whatnot). I don't need it to draw to a canvas or use SVG or anything, all I'm interested in is the layout. Library use like jQuery or RaphaelJS is fine by me. I'll work with it. I'm just looking for something to speed things along a little. Also, I'd consider writing my own if I could find a nice description of an algorithm to do the layouts. But I really don't want to spend too much time. I have something that works now, so getting it on the client side is just a bonus, not a necessity.

• Layout does not show up after Activity launch

- by Peter
I have an activity which invokes an onItemClick and launches another activity. This activity has a static layout(for testing purposes), but only thing I see is black(I even set the text color to white to check it out). My listener list.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> arg0, View arg1, int arg2,long arg3) { //create new intent Intent item = new Intent(getApplicationContext(), Item.class); // Close all views before launching logged //item.putExtra("name", ((TextView)arg1).getText()); //item.putExtra("uid", user_id); item.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP); startActivity(item); // Close Login Screen onPause(); } }); My activity is here(not much to do it just launches the layout) public class Item extends Activity{ protected SQLiteDatabase myDB=null; protected String name; protected int uid; TextView yeart,year,itemname,comment,commentt,value,valuet,curr,currt; protected void onStart(Bundle savedInstanceState){ super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.herp); /*name=getIntent().getStringExtra("name"); uid=Integer.parseInt(getIntent().getStringExtra("uid")); itemname=(TextView) findViewById(R.id.itemName);//itemname.setText(name); year=(TextView) findViewById(R.id.itemYear); yeart=(TextView) findViewById(R.id.year); comment=(TextView) findViewById(R.id.itemComments); commentt=(TextView) findViewById(R.id.comments); curr=(TextView) findViewById(R.id.itemcurrent); currt=(TextView) findViewById(R.id.current); value=(TextView) findViewById(R.id.itemValue); valuet=(TextView) findViewById(R.id.value);*/ Database openHelper = new Database(this); myDB = openHelper.getReadableDatabase(); myDB=SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase("data/data/com.example.login2/databases/aeglea", null, SQLiteDatabase.OPEN_READONLY); }} And finally my XML layout <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:orientation="vertical" > <TextView android:id="@+id/itemName" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="asdasd" android:gravity="center" android:layout_marginBottom="10px" android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge" android:textColor="#fff" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/current" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Current" android:textSize="20dp" android:textStyle="bold" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/itemcurrent" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="asdasd" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/year" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Year" android:textSize="20dp" android:textStyle="bold" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/itemYear" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="asdasd" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/value" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Value" android:textSize="20dp" android:textStyle="bold" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/itemValue" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="TextView" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/comments" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Comments" android:textSize="20dp" android:textStyle="bold" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/itemComments" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="TextView" /> </LinearLayout>

• Why did 13.10 break my custom keyboard layout?

- by con-f-use
I was using a custom keyboard layout. Basically I modified the us-mac layout to fit my ideal of a math-heavy version of the regular us layout that also throws German umlauts into mix. It went well and worked marvelously for 6 consecutive versions of Ubuntu. Today's version Upgrade (from 13.04 to 13.10) broke that streak. I now have the usual crappy Macintosh-Layout. Now xkb just ignores my layout and all of the other changes I make in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/us (tried to switch '0' and '9' everywhere and rebooted - no effect). Why is that? I suspect I have to do an extra step now for the changes to take effect or something like that. Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

• Sharepoint : Access denied when editing a page (because of page layout) or list item

- by tinky05
I'm logged in as the System Account, so it's probably not a "real access denied"! What I've done : - A custom master page - A custom page layout from a custom content type (with custom fields) If I add a custom field (aka "content field" in the tools in SPD) in my page layout, I get an access denied when I try to edit a page that comes from that page layout. So, for example, if I add in my page layout this line in a "asp:content" tag : I get an access denied. If I remove it, everyting is fine. (the field "test" is a field that comes from the content type). Any idea? UPDATE Well, I tried in a blank site and it worked fine, so there must be something wrong with my web application :( UPDATE #2 Looks like this line in the master page gives me the access denied : <SharePoint:DelegateControl runat="server" ControlId="PublishingConsole" Visible="false" PrefixHtml="<tr><td colspan="0" id="mpdmconsole" class="s2i-consolemptablerow">" SuffixHtml="</td></tr>"></SharePoint:DelegateControl> UPDATE #3 I Found http://odole.wordpress.com/2009/01/30/access-denied-error-message-while-editing-properties-of-any-document-in-a-moss-document-library/ Looks like a similar issue. But our Sharepoint versions are with the latest updates. I'll try to use the code that's supposed to fix the lists and post another update. ** UPDATE #4** OK... I tried the code that I found on the page above (see link) and it seems to fix the thing. I haven't tested the solution at 100% but so far, so good. Here's the code I made for a feature receiver (I used the code posted from the link above) : using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; using Microsoft.SharePoint; using System.Xml; namespace MyWebsite.FixAccessDenied { class FixAccessDenied : SPFeatureReceiver { public override void FeatureActivated(SPFeatureReceiverProperties properties) { FixWebField(SPContext.Current.Web); } public override void FeatureDeactivating(SPFeatureReceiverProperties properties) { //throw new Exception("The method or operation is not implemented."); } public override void FeatureInstalled(SPFeatureReceiverProperties properties) { //throw new Exception("The method or operation is not implemented."); } public override void FeatureUninstalling(SPFeatureReceiverProperties properties) { //throw new Exception("The method or operation is not implemented."); } static void FixWebField(SPWeb currentWeb) { string RenderXMLPattenAttribute = "RenderXMLUsingPattern"; SPSite site = new SPSite(currentWeb.Url); SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb(); web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true; web.Update(); SPField f = web.Fields.GetFieldByInternalName("PermMask"); string s = f.SchemaXml; Console.WriteLine("schemaXml before: " + s); XmlDocument xd = new XmlDocument(); xd.LoadXml(s); XmlElement xe = xd.DocumentElement; if (xe.Attributes[RenderXMLPattenAttribute] == null) { XmlAttribute attr = xd.CreateAttribute(RenderXMLPattenAttribute); attr.Value = "TRUE"; xe.Attributes.Append(attr); } string strXml = xe.OuterXml; Console.WriteLine("schemaXml after: " + strXml); f.SchemaXml = strXml; foreach (SPWeb sites in site.AllWebs) { FixField(sites.Url); } } static void FixField(string weburl) { string RenderXMLPattenAttribute = "RenderXMLUsingPattern"; SPSite site = new SPSite(weburl); SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb(); web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true; web.Update(); System.Collections.Generic.IList
guidArrayList = new System.Collections.Generic.List
(); foreach (SPList list in web.Lists) { guidArrayList.Add(list.ID); } foreach (Guid guid in guidArrayList) { SPList list = web.Lists[guid]; SPField f = list.Fields.GetFieldByInternalName("PermMask"); string s = f.SchemaXml; Console.WriteLine("schemaXml before: " + s); XmlDocument xd = new XmlDocument(); xd.LoadXml(s); XmlElement xe = xd.DocumentElement; if (xe.Attributes[RenderXMLPattenAttribute] == null) { XmlAttribute attr = xd.CreateAttribute(RenderXMLPattenAttribute); attr.Value = "TRUE"; xe.Attributes.Append(attr); } string strXml = xe.OuterXml; Console.WriteLine("schemaXml after: " + strXml); f.SchemaXml = strXml; } } } } Just put that code as a Feature Receiver, and activate it at the root site, it should loop trough all the subsites and fix the lists. SUMMARY You get an ACCESS DENIED when editing a PAGE or an ITEM You still get the error even if you're logged in as the Super Admin of the f****in world (sorry, I spent 3 days on that bug) For me, it happened after an import from another site definition (a cmp file) Actually, it's supposed to be a known bug and it's supposed to be fixed since February 2009, but it looks like it's not. The code I posted above should fix the thing.

• CSS - 100% Height Layout with Variable Height Header

- by Brian D.
The layout I want to achieve is pretty simple. I want a 100% height layout with a header, and below the header I will have a side bar for navigation and then the content area beside the navigation bar (2-column with header). I can easily do this if I give the header a specified height but I want the header to just take up as much room as is needed. Does anyone know how to do this? Is it possible without knowing the height of the header? Thanks for any help.

The button doesn't show in this layout(code below),image and textview are shown. I tried using relative layout but that doesn't help either. I'm testing it on 1.5 emulator. <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/layout_root" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:padding="10dp" > <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/neki" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <ImageView android:id="@+id/image" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/text" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:textColor="#FFF" android:text="Some text " /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout>

• Graphviz DOT arrange Nodes in circles, layout too "compact"

- by Ivo Wetzel
I'm halfway there please see the edit OK here's my problem, I'm generating a graph of a python module, including all the files with their functions/methods/classes. I want to arrange it so, that nodes gather in circles around their parent nodes, currently everything is on one gargantuan horizontal row, which makes the thing 50k pixels wide and also let's the svg converter fail(only renders about the half of the graph). I went trough the docs(http://www.graphviz.org/doc/info/attrs.html) but couldn't find anything that seems to do the trick. So the question is: Is there a simple way to do this or do I have to layout the whole thing by myself? :/ EDIT: Thanks to Andrews comment I've got the right layout, the only problem now is that it's a bit to "compact"... so the question now is, how to fix this?

• Layout components Horizontally in Android

- by xximjasonxx
Greetings all, I am trying to create a layout in Android for a notification. My goal is to have the following displayed: 1: Icon for the app 2: Vertically stacked LinearLayout with Session title and Room to be held in 3: The start time of the session The problem I am facing is that #2 has a variable width depending on the size of the title. Hardcoding a width would look terrible if the user turns the handset sideways and goes into Landscape mode. Therefore here is my question: How can I layout three components horizontally in Android such that #1 and #3 are left and right aligned respectively, and #2 simply takes the space remaining? Thanks in advance

• custom view with layout

- by user270811
ok, what i am trying to do is to embed a custom view in the default layout main.xml: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <com.lam.customview.CustomDisplayView android:id="@+id/custom_display_view1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> as you can see the class is called com.lam.customview.CustomDisplayView, with the id of custom_display_view1. now in the com.lam.customview.CustomDisplayView class, i want to use another layout called custom_display_view.xml because i don't want to programmatically create controls/widgets. custom_display_view.xml is just a button and an image, the content of which i want to change based on certain conditions: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <TextView android:id="@+id/display_text_view1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/hello" /> <ImageView android:id="@+id/display_image_view1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> </ImageView> </LinearLayout> i tried to do: 1) public CustomDisplayView(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); try { // register our interest in hearing about changes to our surface SurfaceHolder holder = getHolder(); holder.addCallback(this); View.inflate(context, R.layout.custom_display_view, null); ... but got this error, "03-08 20:33:15.711: ERROR/onCreate(10879): Binary XML file line #8: Error inflating class java.lang.reflect.Constructor ". 2) public CustomDisplayView(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); try { // register our interest in hearing about changes to our surface SurfaceHolder holder = getHolder(); holder.addCallback(this); View.inflate(context, R.id.custom_display_view1, null); ... but got this error, "03-08 20:28:47.401: ERROR/CustomDisplayView(10806): Resource ID #0x7f050002 type #0x12 is not valid " also, if i do it this way, as someone has suggested, it's not clear to me how the custom_display_view.xml is associated with the custom view class. thanks.

• GWT vertical layout

- by skrat
I need a vertical layout, which would fill browser's viewport top to bottom, with on overflow (scrollbars). I need to layout widgets on the top, and on the bottom, and have one widget in the center which would stretch to fill the remaining space. There seems to be DockLayoutPanel for this purpose, the problem with it is that it forces me to specify widget sizes, and I don't know the sizes of the top/bottom widgets before the browser does it's layouting job, which is tricky (buggy) to track. I cannot find the right moment when to measure my widgets, and I don't want to do this kind of layouting code anyway.

• Aftering captureing a layout screenshot, ImageView is transparent

- by Behnam
After capturing a layout screenshot, Containing ImageViews pixels is semi-transparent ( it's abnormal ). Also widget that has transparent color is transparent ( it's normal ). Solid widget is not transparent ( it's normal ). Source of imageviews is JPG files ( so no transparent pixels in the bitmap ). Code: final Bitmap rawBitmap = Bitmap.createBitmap(width, height, Bitmap.Config.ARGB_8888); final Canvas canvas = new Canvas(rawBitmap); rendererView.layout(0, 0, width, height); rendererView.draw(canvas); rawBitmap.compress(CompressFormat.PNG, 100, new FileOutputStream("/sdcard/test" + System.currentTimeMillis() + ".png")); Result:

• Holy grail layout with 100% height

- by Henrik Skogmo
I am trying to make a css layout that looks like this http://oi53.tinypic.com/o0v0vp.jpg The CSS term for this type of layout is known as the "holy grail" I think. The problem I am facing is that when I use layouts and solutions I find online I do not get them to work properly as I want them to. What I am trying to do is make a page that, regardless of content, will have the footer at the bottom of the browser and the columns stretching down to it. So far I have only seen pages that have the footer placed where the content stop, the result is some blank space under the footer. If anyone could help me out on this it would be greatly appreciated!
