  For clarification, are you able to use MySQL this way to sort? ORDER BY CompanyID = XXX DESC What I am trying to do is use one sql query to sort everything where X = Y, in this case, where CompanyID = XXX. All values where CompanyID is not XXX should come after all the results where CompanyID = XXX. I don't want to limit my query but I do want to sort a particular company above other listings.

• Type error while trying to implement the (>>=) function in order to create a custom monad transforme

  Hello, I'm trying to create a monad transformer for a future project, but unfortunately, my implementation of the Monad typeclasse's (=) function doesn't work. First of all, here is the underlying monad's implementation : newtype Runtime a = R { unR :: State EInfo a } deriving (Monad) Here, the implementation of the Monad typeclasse is done automatically by GHC (using the GeneralizedNewtypeDeriving language pragma). The monad transformer is defined as so : newtype RuntimeT m a = RuntimeT { runRuntimeT :: m (Runtime a) } The problem comes from the way I instanciate the (=) function of the Monad typeclasse : instance (Monad m) => Monad (RuntimeT m) where return a = RuntimeT $ (return . return) a x >>= f = runRuntimeT x >>= id >>= f The way I see it, the first >>= runs in the underlying m monad. Thus, runRuntimeT x >>= returns a value of type Runtime a (right ?). Then, the following code, id >>=, should return a value of type a. This value is the passed on to the function f of type f :: (Monad m) => a -> RuntimeT m b. And here comes the type problem : the f function's type doesn't match the type required by the (=) function. Jow can I make this coherent ? I can see why this doesn't work, but I can't manage to turn it into something functionnal.   Is it possible to return groups as an associative array? I'd like to know if a pure SQL solution is possible. Note that I release that I could be making things more complex unnecessarily but this is mainly to give me an idea of the power of SQL. My problem: I have a list of words in the database that should be sorted alphabetically and grouped into separate groups according to the first letter of the word. For example: ape broom coconut banana apple should be returned as array( 'a' => 'ape', 'apple', 'b' => 'banana', 'broom', 'c' => 'coconut' ) so I can easily created sorted lists by first letter (i.e. clicking "A" only shows words starting with a, "B" with b, etc. This should make it easier for me to load everything in one query and make the sorted list JavaScript based, i.e. without having to reload the page (or use AJAX). Side notes: I'm using PostgreSQL but a solution for MySQL would be fine too so I can try to port it to PostgreSQL. Scripting language is PHP.

  I have a bidding table, as follows: SellID INT FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES SellItem(SellID), CusID INT FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES Customer(CusID), Amount FLOAT NOT NULL, BidTime DATETIME DEFAULT getdate() Now in my website I need to show the user the current bids; only the highest bid but without repeating the same user. SELECT CusID, Max(Amount) FROM Bid WHERE SellID = 10 GROUP BY CusID ORDER BY Max(Amount) DESC This is the best I have achieved so far. This gives the CusID of each user with the maximum bid and it is ordered ascending. But I need to get the BidTime for each result as well. When I try to put the BidTime in to the query: SELECT CusID, Max(Amount), BidTime FROM Bid WHERE SellID = 10 GROUP BY CusID ORDER BY Max(Amount) DESC I am told that "Column 'Bid.BidTime' is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause." Thus I tried: SELECT CusID, Max(Amount), BidTime FROM Bid WHERE SellID = 10 GROUP BY CusID, BidTime ORDER BY Max(Amount) DESC But this returns all the rows. No distinction. Any suggestions on solving this issue?

• ecommerce platform or from scratch? customer specific catalogs and purchase orders

  I have a possible freelance job in front of me for a distributor who wants product ordering set up but the orders are all P.O.s basically - no actual credit card or paypal transaction. The customer is simply billed and the order archived. Customers will need to login to this site and each customer will have their own custom catalog of a few dozen products which have been setup via a control panel this distributor uses. So there will be a master catalog of over 1,000 products (perhaps browsable but not to be ordered from on the site) but each customer will only be able to order from the products specified for their accounts. I know I can build this from scratch but I figured it's worth looking into what ecommerce platforms would get me a nice head start. Obviously shopping cart, order history, catalog management are concepts that I can reuse but are any of the ecommerce systems out there also capable of handling custom catalogs (maybe as multi-stores?) or transactions billed to accounts without credit card? The more I could reuse the better. I've messed with OSCommerce (way back) and a little Zen Cart more recently. I've also worked on a number of totally custom e-commerce sites. But my knowledge of the open source e-commerce tools is pretty limited and I'm trying to keep the effort as simple as I possibly can on this. I'm pretty flexible on the language of the platform by the way. Thanks in advance.

  I had a server die. It is gone forever. It is still listed in the servers folder of the first administrative group in the Exchange System Manager. When I click "all tasks Remove Server" I get the following error: The Server "SERVERNAME" cannot be removed because: -One or more users currently use a mailbox on this server. These users must be moved to a mailbox store on a different server or be mail disabled before uninstalling this server. Facility: Exchange System Manager ID no: c103f492 Exchange System Manager Any help would be MUCH appreciated. I cannot access the mailbox stores anymore and I do not care about the lost mailboxes. We deleted the inactive and old users as well. So I am stumped on this one. I just need to remove the old machine. THANKS!

• MAMP - Host name changes to first vhost SSL entry for project with two localhosts

  I have two projects that are a copy of each other on my Mac with MAMP. They both have SSL pages. However, whenever I hit the a secured SSL page of project 2, the base_url or host changes to project1 instead of remaining project2. I know this is an issue with the vhosts, because if I switch the order of the entries, the reverse happens.   In windows 7, you can have a "Document" as a menu on the "Start Menu". However, it lead to sub-items "My Documents" and "Public Documents". As well as only me is using my notebook, "Public Documents" is useless and waste me for a click to the "My Documents". So, my question is -- how do I hack the registry(without hacking DLLs) to make the contents in "My Documents" as the first class citizen in the start menu? PS. after read this, I've removed the "Public Documents" from the library. But still, it takes me one more click

• FTP timeout only the first time

  I'm using PureFTPd on MacOSX (Snow Leopard, not server version). When trying to access the FTP account from the outside via dyndns (e.g. using https://www.wormly.com/test_ftp_server) the connection always times out the FIRST time. When I try AGAIN in the next few seconds it works. What is this about? I have forwarded the ports to my apple router and tried disabling the OSX firewall as well. Thanks for any advice. Dennis

• Samba setup to request password reset on first time login

  Is it possible to setup Samba to ask for password reset when the user first logs in without the need to setup a domain controller? Would this work properly with Windows clients or with clients using Linux with file managers like Krusader or Nautilus? Could somebody give me a few pointers how to implement this if is possible? I'm pretty new to Samba and I use it as a file server and I would like to have such a feature on it, but I'm not sure if it's possible. Thanks!

• Reading PFS First Choice and Word Perfect 5 files in an XP or Windows 98 environment

  Hello all, My priest has 3 computers, Windows 3.1, Windows 98 and Windows XP. Recently his power supply blew out on his Windows 3.1 computer and he needs to get to the data on the hard drive. He's looking into imaging the hard drive and setting it up as a VM, which might be a bit much for him. Ignoring getting the data off the hard drive as a separate problem, are there any programs out there that can read files from PFS First Choice and Word Perfect 5. He already has Microsoft Office so solutions involving that are preferable. If he can install the software on his Windows XP or 98 computer, that would be helpful too. Thank you for your help

I can see the following in "ipconfig /all": DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . . : ::1 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 and "Obtain dns server address automatically" option in network interface setting is disabled. I installed active directory once and uninstalled now, I think it's the reason. But I can't find any answer from google or bing how to fix.

  I'm trying to learn to rename files with the command line, and after browsing around a lot of pages I finally found a command that uppercases the first letter of a file, but the problem is that I want to understand the meaning of each command. The command is: for i in *; do new=`echo "$i" | sed -e 's/^./\U&/'`; mv "$i" "$new";done I understand the 'for' kinda... but not the 'echo' or '`' and especially the sed command. if someone has a little patience to explain the meaning of each thing that'd be awesome! • SharePoint - force user to accept AUP when first logging in etc

  We're looking to move a bespoke intranet across to SharePoint. One query that has come up is whether we can do the following easily: When user logs in for the first time they should be forced read and accept an Acceptable Use Policy for the site. Agree a separate agreement that relates to their data being shared with other parties. (Optional) upload their profile photo. They can skip this step if they don't have one but they should be prompted to do it each time they login subsequently. The above is all nice and easy in a bespoke app but I can't see how to do this with SharePoint. Can we build a custom workflow that is tied to the user logging in? So far I can only find how to attach workflows to libraries and lists.

• First requests are painfully slow

  I am running Redmine under IIS using Zoo. Installation was done using the Web Platform Installer and the default configuration has not been touched. However, when using the application, the first requests take very long to complete (sometimes more than one minute). During that time, the ruby.exe causes some CPU load (about 15%). According to the log files, it's mainly the views taking that long to render: Started GET "/redmine/login" for IP at 2012-09-04 09:54:08 +0200 Processing by AccountController#login as HTML Rendered account/login.html.erb within layouts/base (42150.5ms) Completed 200 OK in 43508ms (Views: 43008.5ms | ActiveRecord: 0.0ms) Rendered account/login.html.erb within layouts/base (42435.1ms) Completed 200 OK in 44100ms (Views: 43523.3ms | ActiveRecord: 0.0ms) After the initial delay, further request times are totally acceptable. Any ideas on how to speed up the warmup time?

• USB port not recognising mouse on first bootup

  On a computer here when first powered on the USB wired mouse is not recognised. The light under the mouse is not lit up. Other usb hub's and keyboards work fine. Disconnecting it and reconnecting it fixes the issue, even after a restart - after the pc is switched off for a length of time (for example overnight) the problem reappears. I swapped the mouse, updated the bios and installed updated intellimouse drivers, turned of power saving on the usb ports. Any ideas?
