  • Sorting/Paginating/Filtering Complex Multi-AR Object Tables in Rails

    - by Matt Rogish
    I have a complex table pulled from a multi-ActiveRecord object array. This listing is a combined display of all of a particular user's "favorite" items (songs, messages, blog postings, whatever). Each of these items is a full-fledged AR object. My goal is to present the user with a simplified search, sort, and pagination interface. The user need not know that the Song has a singer, and that the Message has an author -- to the end user both entries in the table will be displayed as "User". Thus, the search box will simply be a dropdown list asking them which to search on (User name, created at, etc.). Internally, I would need to convert that to the appropriate object search, combine the results, and display. I can, separately, do pagination (mislav will_paginate), sorting, and filtering, but together I'm having some problems combining them. For example, if I paginate the combined list of items, the pagination plugin handles it just fine. It is not efficient since the pagination is happening in the app vs. the DB, but let's assume the intended use-case would indicate the vast majority of the users will have less than 30 favorited items and all other behavior, server capabilities, etc. indicates this will not be a bottleneck. However, if I wish to sort the list I cannot sort it via the pagination plugin because it relies on the assumption that the result set is derived from a single SQL query, and also that the field name is consistent throughout. Thus, I must sort the merged array via ruby, e.g. @items.sort_by{ |i| i.whatever } But, since the items do not share common names, I must first interrogate the object and then call the correct sort by. For example, if the user wishes to sort by user name, if the sorted object is a message, I sort by author but if the object is a song, I sort by singer. This is all very gross and feels quite un-ruby-like. This same problem comes into play with the filter. If the user filters on the "parent item" (the message's thread, the song's album), I must translate that to the appropriate collection object method. Also gross. This is not the exact set-up but is close enough. Note that this is a legacy app so changing it is quite difficult, although not impossible. Also, yes there is some DRY that can be done, but don't focus on the style or elegance of the following code. Style/elegance of the SOLUTION is important, however! :D models: class User < ActiveRecord::Base ... has_and_belongs_to_many :favorite_messages, :class_name => "Message" has_and_belongs_to_many :favorite_songs, :class_name => "Song" has_many :authored_messages, :class_name => "Message" has_many :sung_songs, :class_name => "Song" end class Message < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :favorite_messages belongs_to :author, :class_name => "User" belongs_to :thread end class Song < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :favorite_songs belongs_to :singer, :class_name => "User" belongs_to :album end controller: def show u = User.find 123 @items = Array.new @items << u.favorite_messages @items << u.favorite_songs # etc. etc. @items.flatten! @items = @items.sort_by{ |i| i.created_at } @items = @items.paginate :page => params[:page], :per_page => 20 end def search # Assume user is searching for username like 'Bob' u = User.find 123 @items = Array.new @items << u.favorite_messages.find( :all, :conditions => "LOWER( author ) LIKE LOWER('%bob%')" ) @items << u.favorite_songs.find( :all, :conditions => "LOWER( singer ) LIKE ... " ) # etc. etc. @items.flatten! @items = @items.sort_by{ |i| determine appropriate sorting based on user selection } @items = @items.paginate :page => params[:page], :per_page => 20 end view: #index.html.erb ... <table> <tr> <th>Title (sort ASC/DESC links)</th> <th>Created By (sort ASC/DESC links))</th> <th>Collection Title (sort ASC/DESC links)</th> <th>Created At (sort ASC/DESC links)</th> </tr> <% @items.each |item| do %> <%= render { :partial => "message", :locals => item } if item.is_a? • h:commandButton not working within PrimeFaces p:dataTable

    - by JamesB
    I have a PrimeFaces datatable. For each row in this table, I want to allow the user to update/delete the row entry (a user). <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:p="http://primefaces.prime.com.tr/ui"> <h:head> <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="themes/bluesky/skin.css" /> </h:head> <h:body> <center> <h:form> <p:panel id="viewUsersPanel" header="View Users"> <p:dataTable var="user" value="#{uController.users}" emptyMessage="No Users Found."> <p:column style="text-align: center;"> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="Name" /> </f:facet> <h:outputText value="#{user.name}" /> </p:column> <p:column style="text-align: center;"> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="Postal Address" /> </f:facet> <h:outputText value="#{user.address}" /> </p:column> <p:column style="text-align: center;"> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="Phone Number" /> </f:facet> <h:outputText value="#{user.phone}" /> </p:column> <p:column style="text-align: center;"> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="Email Address" /> </f:facet> <h:outputText value="#{user.email}" /> </p:column> <p:column style="text-align: center;"> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="DOB" /> </f:facet> <h:outputText value="#{user.dob}"> <f:convertDateTime pattern="dd-MMM-yyyy" /> </h:outputText> </p:column> <p:column style="text-align: center;"> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="No. Memberships" /> </f:facet> <h:outputText value="#{user.numberOfMemberships}" /> </p:column> <p:column style="text-align: center;"> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="Actions" /> </f:facet> <h:commandButton value="Update" action="#{uController.update}" /> <h:commandButton value="Delete" action="#{uController.delete}" /> </p:column> </p:dataTable> <h:panelGrid columns="2" cellpadding="2" id="footerPanelGrid" border="0"> <h:commandButton action="#{uController.home}" value="Home Page" /> </h:panelGrid> </p:panel> </h:form> </center> </h:body> </html> However, neither of the buttons work. Instead they appear to simply refresh the view page. I have ran the app in debug and neither update or delete method is hit. I suspect this may be due to using h:commandButton within a p:dataTable. However, I have also tried p:commandButton but to no avail. For reference, here is a snippet of the UserController class: @ManagedBean(name="uController") public class UserController extends AbstractController { private Collection<User> users; ... public String update() { System.out.println("Ready for update"); return "update-user"; } public String delete() { System.out.println("Ready for delete"); return "delete-user"; } ... }

  • JSF2 - use view scope managed bean to pass value between navigation

    - by Fekete Kamosh
    Hi all, I am solving how to pass values from one page to another without making use of session scope managed bean. For most managed beans I would like to have only Request scope. I created a very, very simple calculator example which passes Result object resulting from actions on request bean (CalculatorRequestBean) from 5th phase as initializing value for new instance of request bean initialized in next phase lifecycle. In fact - in production environment we need to pass much more complicated data object which is not as primitive as Result defined below. What is your opinion on this solution which considers both possibilities - we stay on the same view or we navigate to the new one. But in both cases I can get to previous value stored passed using view scoped managed bean. • Something like a manual refresh is needed angularjs, and a $digest() iterations error

    - by Tony Ennis
    (post edited again, new comments follow this line) I'm changing the title of this posting since it was misleading - I was trying to fix a symptom. I was unable to figure out why the code was breaking with a $digest() iterations error. A plunk of my code worked fine. I was totally stuck, so I decided to make my code a little more Angular-like. One anti-pattern I had implemented was to hide my model behind my controller by adding getters/setters to the controller. I tore all that out and instead put the model into the $scope since I had read that was proper Angular. To my surprise, the $digest() iterations error went away. I do not exactly know why and I do not have the intestinal fortitude to put the old code back and figure it out. I surmise that by involving the controller in the get/put of the data I added a dependency under the hood. I do not understand it. edit #2 ends here. (post edited, see EDIT below) I was working through my first Error: 10 $digest() iterations reached. Aborting! error today. I solved it this way: <div ng-init="lineItems = ctrl.getLineItems()"> <tr ng-repeat="r in lineItems"> <td>{{r.text}}</td> <td>...</td> <td>{{r.price | currency}}</td> </tr </div> Now a new issue has arisen - the line items I'm producing can be modified by another control on the page. It's a text box for a promo code. The promo code adds a discount to the lineItem array. It would show up if I could ng-repeat over ctrl.getLineItems(). Since the ng-repeat is looking at a static variable, not the actual model, it doesn't see that the real line items have changed and thus the promotional discount doesn't get displayed until I refresh the browser. Here's the HTML for the promo code: <input type="text" name="promo" ng-model="ctrl.promoCode"/> <button ng-click="ctrl.applyPromoCode()">apply promo code</button> The input tag is writing the value to the model. The bg-click in the button is invoking a function that will apply the code. This could change the data behind the lineItems. I have been advised to use $scope.apply(...). However, since this is applied as a matter of course by ng-click is isn't going to do anything. Indeed, if I add it to ctrl.applyPromoCode(), I get an error since an .apply() is already in progress. I'm at a loss. EDIT The issue above is probably the result of me fixing of symptom, not a problem. Here is the original HTML that was dying with the 10 $digest() iterations error. <table> <tr ng-repeat="r in ctrl.getLineItems()"> <td>{{r.text}}</td> <td>...</td> <td>{{r.price | currency}}</td> </tr> </table> The ctrl.getLineItems() function doesn't do much but invoke a model. I decided to keep the model out of the HTML as much as I could. this.getLineItems = function() { var total = 0; this.lineItems = []; this.lineItems.push({text:"Your quilt will be "+sizes[this.size].block_size+" squares", price:sizes[this.size].price}); total = sizes[this.size].price; this.lineItems.push({text: threads[this.thread].narrative, price:threads[this.thread].price}); total = total + threads[this.thread].price; if (this.sashing) { this.lineItems.push({text:"Add sashing", price: this.getSashingPrice()}); total = total + sizes[this.size].sashing; } else { this.lineItems.push({text:"No sashing", price:0}); } if(isNaN(this.promo)) { this.lineItems.push({text:"No promo code", price:0}); } else { this.lineItems.push({text:"Promo code", price: promos[this.promo].price}); total = total + promos[this.promo].price; } this.lineItems.push({text:"Shipping", price:this.shipping}); total = total + this.shipping; this.lineItems.push({text:"Order Total", price:total}); return this.lineItems; }; And the model code assembled an array of objects based upon the items selected. I'll abbreviate the class as it croaks as long as the array has a row. function OrderModel() { this.lineItems = []; // Result of the lineItems call ... this.getLineItems = function() { var total = 0; this.lineItems = []; ... this.lineItems.push({text:"Order Total", price:total}); return this.lineItems; }; }

  • PHP: How to automate building a 100 <UL>/<LI> menuitems, while keeping the Menu Structure File Flat / Simply Managable?

    - by Sam
    Above: current "stupid" menu. (entire ul/li menu for javascript menu system) + (some li lines as page-specific submenu) Hi folks! With passion for automation and elegancy, but limited knowledge/knowhow, im stuck with "my hands in my hair" as we Dutch say, for my current menu system works perfectly, but is a pain in the a*s to update! So, i would appreciate it greatly, if you can suggest how to automate this in php: how to let the php generate the html menu code basing on a flat menu input file with TABS indented. OLD SITUATION <ul> <!-- about 100 of these <li>....</li> lines --> <li><a href="carrot.php"><p class="mnu" style="background-position:0 -820px"><? echo __("carrot juice") ?></p></a></li> <!-- lots of data, with only little bit thats really the menu itself--> </ul a javascript file reads a ul/li structure as input to build menu of format in that ul/li, the items with a hyperlink and sprite-bg position represent webpages, (inside LI) while items without hyperlink and sprite-bg are just headers of that menusection, (inside H6) to highlight the current page in the menu, the javascript menumaker uses an id number. this number corresponds to the consequtive li that is a webpage, skips h6 headers correctly. these h6 headers are only there for when importing sections of the same menu as submenu. non-li headers are not shown in menu, nore counted by the javascript menu for their ID. to know which page should be shown, i have to count from ID 0, the li items till finding the current webpage in the li structure and then manually put it in each webpage! BUT: changing an item in li order, means stupidly re-counting their entire li again! each webpage has an icon (= sprite bg-position numer), which is also used in the webpage. INTENDED RESULT I dream of, once setting what the current webpage is (e.g carrot.php) the menu system automatically "finds" and "counts" the li's and returns the id nr (for proper highlight of main menu); generates the entire menu html, and depending on which headings are set for submenu, (e.g. meals, drinks) generates those submenu (entire section below each given header); ginally adds h5 highlight inside the li of that submenu item. For the menu, i wish an easily readable, simple plain txt menu that is indented with tabs, (each tab is one depth for example) and further tabs follow for url and sprite position of icon. MY DREAM MENU-MANAGEMENT FILE |>TAB SEPARATED/INDENTED FLATMENU FILE |MUST BE CALCULATED BY PHP: |>MENUTEXT============URL=============SPRITE=====|ID===TAG================== |>about "#" -520 |00 li |> INFORMATION |—— h6 |> physical state "physical.php" -920 |01 li |> mental health "mental.php" -10 |02 li |> |>apetite "#" -1290 |03 li |> meals "#" -600 |04 li |> COLD MEAL |—— h6 |> egg salade "salad.php" -1040 |05 li |> salmon fish "salmon.php" -540 |06 li |> HOT MEAL |—— h6 |> spare ribs "spareribs.php" -120 |07 li |> di macaroni "macaroni.php" -870 |08 li |> |> drinks "#" -230 |09 li |> JUCY DRINK |—— h6 |> carrot juice "carrot.php" -820 |10 li |> mango hive "mango.php" -270 |11 li DESIRED CHRONOLOGY php outputs the entire ul/li html so the javascript can show the menu: webpage items go inside li tags, and header items go inside h6 tags, e.g. <h6>JUCY DRINK</h6> Each website page has a url filename [eg: salad.php]. Based on this given fact, the php menu generator detects the pagename, gives the IDnr of the position of that page according to the li-item nr and sets variable for javascript to highlight current menu item. the menu items below the specified headers are loaded as submenu in which the current page.php is wrapped inside h5 to highlight current page in submenu: e.g. (<li><h5><a href="carrot.php"><p>..etc..</p></h5></li> Question Which methods / steps / (chronological)ways are there for doing this? I am no good in php programming, but am learning it so please dont write any code without a line of comment why I should use that method etc. Where do I start? If I am unclear in my question, please ask. Thanks. Much appreciated!! Concrete Task List from the provided Comments/Answers, sofar: (RobertB) First, get some PHP code working that can read through a tab-delimited file and put the data into an appropriate data structure. • How to make a form using ajax, onchange event, reload to SAME page

    - by user1348220
    I've been studying this for a while and I'm not sure if I'm going about this the right way because every form I setup according to examples, it doesn't do what I need. I need to setup a form that will: set session when you select from dropdown menu not reload/refresh page (i've read that using AJAX solves this) submit and stay on SAME page (confused because most AJAX examples send it to different process.php page which is supposedly "invisible" but it doesn't "stay" on the same page, it redirects. Basically, client selects quantity of 1 to 10. If they select "2"... it does NOT reload the page.. but it DOES set a session[quantity]=2. Should be simple... but do I POST to same page as form? or POST to different page and it somehow redirects? Also, one test I did it kept pasting my "echo session[quantity]" down the page like 7, 2, 3, 5, etc. etc. each time instead of replacing it. I would paste code but it's all over the place and I'm hoping for direction on which methods to use. Feel I need to start all over again. Edit: trying to add code below but can't seem to paste it properly. <? ob_start();?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <?php session_start(); ?> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Submit Form with out refreshing page Tutorial</title> <!-- JavaScript --> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.0/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" > $(function() { $(".submit").click(function() { var gender = $("#gender").val(); var dataString = '&gender=' + gender; if(gender=='') { $('.success').fadeOut(200).hide(); $('.error').fadeOut(200).show(); } else { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "join.php", data: dataString, success: function(){ $('.success').fadeIn(200).show(); $('.error').fadeOut(200).hide(); } }); } return false; }); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> body{ } .error{ color:#d12f19; font-size:12px; } .success{ color:#006600; font-size:12px; } </style> </head> <body id="public"> <div style="height:30px"></div> <div id="container"> <div style="height:30px"></div> <form method="post" name="form"> <select id="gender" name="gender"> <option value="">Gender</option> <option value="male">Male</option> <option value="female">Female</option> </select> <div> <input type="submit" value="Submit" class="submit"/> <span class="error" style="display:none"> Please Enter Valid Data</span> <span class="success" style="display:none"> Your gender is <?php echo $_SESSION['gender'];?></span> </div> </form> <div style="height:20px"></div> </div><!--container--> </body> </html> <? ob_flush(); ?> and here is my page where the POST goes called join.php (called that in example so I went with it for now) <?php session_start(); if($_POST) { $gender = $_POST['gender']; $_SESSION['gender'] = $gender; } else { } ?>

  • jQuery Validation plugin: prompt for override

    - by Sam Carleton
    I have a jQuery form that has validation of a sort. It is a data entry screen with two 'recommend ranges', one is 36-84, the other 50-300. The business rules call for the values to be either blank or greater than zero, but to prompt for confirmation if the values are outside of the range listed above. I have seen some other threads that talk about setting the class="cancel" on the submit button. From what I can tell, this will simply disable the validation. I need to prompt for a "do you want to continue, yes or no?" and if no stop the submit, if yes, continue. Below is an example from the book Pro jQuery. By default the top row needs to be between 10 and 20 to submit. How would you change it so that it prompts you and if you say Yes it submits, no prevents the submit: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Example</title> <script src="jquery-1.7.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery.tmpl.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery.validate.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <style type="text/css"> h1 { min-width: 70px; border: thick double black; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; font-size: x-large; padding: .5em; color: darkgreen; background-image: url("border.png"); background-size: contain; margin-top: 0; } .dtable {display: table;} .drow {display: table-row;} .dcell {display: table-cell; padding: 10px;} .dcell > * {vertical-align: middle} input {width: 2em; text-align: right; border: thin solid black; padding: 2px;} label {width: 5em; padding-left: .5em; display: inline-block;} #buttonDiv {text-align: center;} #oblock {display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; min-width: 700px; } div.errorMsg {color: red} .invalidElem {border: medium solid red} </style> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var data = [ { name: "Astor", product: "astor", stocklevel: "10", price: "2.99"}, { name: "Daffodil", product: "daffodil", stocklevel: "12", price: "1.99"}, { name: "Rose", product: "rose", stocklevel: "2", price: "4.99"}, { name: "Peony", product: "peony", stocklevel: "0", price: "1.50"}, { name: "Primula", product: "primula", stocklevel: "1", price: "3.12"}, { name: "Snowdrop", product: "snowdrop", stocklevel: "15", price: "0.99"}, ]; var templResult = $('#flowerTmpl').tmpl(data); templResult.slice(0, 3).appendTo('#row1'); templResult.slice(3).appendTo("#row2"); $('form').validate({ highlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).add($(element).parent()).addClass("invalidElem"); }, unhighlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).add($(element).parent()).removeClass("invalidElem"); }, errorElement: "div", errorClass: "errorMsg" }); $.validator.addClassRules({ flowerValidation: { required: true, min: 0, max: 100, digits: true, } }) $('#row1 input').each(function(index, elem) { $(elem).rules("add", { min: 10, max: 20 }) }); $('input').addClass("flowerValidation").change(function(e) { $('form').validate().element($(e.target)); }); }); </script> <script id="flowerTmpl" type="text/x-jquery-tmpl"> <div class="dcell"> <img src="${product}.png"/> <label for="${product}">${name}: </label> <input name="${product}" value="0" required /> </div> </script> </head> <body> <h1>Jacqui's Flower Shop</h1> <form method="post" action="http://node.jacquisflowershop.com/order"> <div id="oblock"> <div class="dtable"> <div id="row1" class="drow"> </div> <div id="row2"class="drow"> </div> </div> </div> <div id="buttonDiv"><button type="submit">Place Order</button></div> </form> </body> </html>

  • Threads to make video out of images

    - by masood
    updates: I think/ suspect the imageIO is not thread safe. shared by all threads. the read() call might use resources that are also shared. Thus it will give the performance of a single thread no matter how many threads used. ? if its correct . what is the solution (in practical code) Single request and response model at one time do not utilizes full network/internet bandwidth, thus resulting in low performance. (benchmark is of half speed utilization or even lower) This is to make a video out of an IP cam that gives a new image on each request. http://149.5.43.10:8001/snapshot.jpg It makes a delay of 3 - 8 seconds no matter what I do. Changed thread no. and thread time intervals, debugged the code by System.out.println statements to see if threads work. All seems normal. Any help? Please show some practical code. You may modify mine. This code works (javascript) with much smoother frame rate and max bandwidth usage. but the later code (java) dont. same 3 to 8 seconds gap. <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> (function(){ var img="/*url*/"; var interval=50; var pointer=0; function showImg(image,idx) { if(idx<=pointer) return; document.body.replaceChild(image,document.getElementsByTagName("img")[0]); pointer=idx; preload(); } function preload() { var cache=null,idx=0;; for(var i=0;i<5;i++) { idx=Date.now()+interval*(i+1); cache=new Image(); cache.onload=(function(ele,idx){return function(){showImg(ele,idx);};})(cache,idx); cache.src=img+"?"+idx; } } window.onload=function(){ document.getElementsByTagName("img")[0].onload=preload; document.getElementsByTagName("img")[0].src="/*initial url*/"; }; })(); </script> </head> <body> <img /> </body> </html> and of java (with problem) : package camba; import java.applet.Applet; import java.awt.Button; import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.Image; import java.awt.Label; import java.awt.Panel; import java.awt.TextField; import java.awt.event.ActionEvent; import java.awt.event.ActionListener; import java.net.URL; import java.security.Timestamp; import java.util.Date; import java.util.concurrent.TimeUnit; import java.util.concurrent.atomic.AtomicBoolean; import javax.imageio.ImageIO; public class Camba extends Applet implements ActionListener{ Image img; TextField textField; Label label; Button start,stop; boolean terminate = false; long viewTime; public void init(){ label = new Label("please enter camera URL "); add(label); textField = new TextField(30); add(textField); start = new Button("Start"); add(start); start.addActionListener(this); stop = new Button("Stop"); add(stop); stop.addActionListener(this); } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){ Button source = (Button)e.getSource(); if(source.getLabel() == "Start"){ for (int i = 0; i < 7; i++) { myThread(50*i); } System.out.println("start..."); } if(source.getLabel() == "Stop"){ terminate = true; System.out.println("stop..."); } } public void paint(Graphics g) { update(g); } public void update(Graphics g){ try{ viewTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); g.drawImage(img, 100, 100, this); } catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } public void myThread(final int sleepTime){ new Thread(new Runnable() { public void run() { while(!terminate){ try { TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS.sleep(sleepTime); } catch (InterruptedException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } long requestTime= 0; Image tempImage = null; try { URL pic = null; requestTime= System.currentTimeMillis(); pic = new URL(getDocumentBase(), textField.getText()); tempImage = ImageIO.read(pic); } catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } if(requestTime >= /*last view time*/viewTime){ img = tempImage; Camba.this.repaint(); } } }}).start(); System.out.println("thread started..."); } }

  • Why is JSON outputting out of order?

    - by dcp3450
    I'm am trying to get a list of weather information for 8 locations. I'm using a weather API that accepts longitude and latitude and spits back json output with the weather info for that location. I feed the coords in order 0-7 but when json processes the data it comes back in a seemingly random order. I assume it's because some process faster than others and json is outputing what it gets back as it gets it. The output is correct, only the order is wrong. var loc = null; var body = ""; var campuses = new Array(8); campuses[0] = "34.47242,-84.42489,1"; campuses[1] = "33.81488,-84.62048,2"; campuses[2] = "34.27502,-84.46976,3"; campuses[3] = "33.92987,-84.55065,4"; campuses[4] = "34.03433,-84.46723,5"; campuses[5] = "34.08362,-84.67115,6"; campuses[6] = "33.91124,-84.82634,7"; campuses[7] = "34.10409,-84.51804,8"; function getWeather(campusArray) { body += '<p class="topTitle">Campus Weather</p>'; var cSplit = new Array(); cSplit = campusArray.split(','); var loc = "http://www.worldweatheronline.com/feed/weather.ashx?q="+cSplit[0]+","+cSplit[1]+"&format=json&num_of_days=2&key=0a05fff921162948110401&callback=?"; $('#content').html('asdf'); $.getJSON(loc,function(js) { var data = js.data; var humidity = data.current_condition[0].humidity; var tempF = data.current_condition[0].temp_F; var iconDESC = data.current_condition[0].weatherDesc[0].value; var iconURL = data.current_condition[0].weatherIconUrl[0].value; var windDir = data.current_condition[0].winddir16Point; var windSpeed = data.current_condition[0].windspeedMiles; var tempMaxF = data.weather[0].tempMaxF; var tempMinF = data.weather[0].tempMinF; body += '<p class="title">'+cSplit[2]+'</p>'+ '<span class="body">'+tempF+ ' '+windSpeed+ '<img src="'+iconURL+'" /></span>'; $('#content').html(body); }); } getWeather(campuses[0]); getWeather(campuses[1]); getWeather(campuses[2]); getWeather(campuses[3]); getWeather(campuses[4]); getWeather(campuses[5]); getWeather(campuses[6]); getWeather(campuses[7]); I have also tried it as $.ajax var loc = null; var body = ""; var campuses = new Array(8); campuses[0] = "34.47242,-84.42489,1"; campuses[1] = "33.81488,-84.62048,2"; campuses[2] = "34.27502,-84.46976,3"; campuses[3] = "33.92987,-84.55065,4"; campuses[4] = "34.03433,-84.46723,5"; campuses[5] = "34.08362,-84.67115,6"; campuses[6] = "33.91124,-84.82634,7"; campuses[7] = "34.10409,-84.51804,8"; function getWeather(campusArray) { body += '<p class="topTitle">Campus Weather</p>'; var cSplit = new Array(); cSplit = campusArray.split(','); var loc = "http://www.worldweatheronline.com/feed/weather.ashx?q="+cSplit[0]+","+cSplit[1]+"&format=json&num_of_days=2&key=0a05fff921162948110401&callback=?"; $.ajax({ url: loc, async: true, dataType: "json", success: function(js) { var data = js.data; var humidity = data.current_condition[0].humidity; var tempF = data.current_condition[0].temp_F; var iconDESC = data.current_condition[0].weatherDesc[0].value; var iconURL = data.current_condition[0].weatherIconUrl[0].value; var windDir = data.current_condition[0].winddir16Point; var windSpeed = data.current_condition[0].windspeedMiles; var tempMaxF = data.weather[0].tempMaxF; var tempMinF = data.weather[0].tempMinF; body += '<p class="title">'+cSplit[2]+'</p>'+ '<span class="body">'+tempF+ ' '+windSpeed+ '<img src="'+iconURL+'" /></span>'; $('#content').html(body); } }); } getWeather(campuses[0]); getWeather(campuses[1]); getWeather(campuses[2]); getWeather(campuses[3]); getWeather(campuses[4]); getWeather(campuses[5]); getWeather(campuses[6]); getWeather(campuses[7]); EDIT: example of json output: { "data": { "current_condition": [ {"cloudcover": "100", "humidity": "93", "observation_time": "04:04 PM", "precipMM": "0.0", "pressure": "1009", "temp_C": "2", "temp_F": "36", "visibility": "8", "weatherCode": "116", "weatherDesc": [ {"value": "Mist" } ], "weatherIconUrl": [ {"value": "http:\/\/www.worldweatheronline.com\/images\/wsymbols01_png_64\/wsymbol_0006_mist.png" } ], "winddir16Point": "WNW", "winddirDegree": "290", "windspeedKmph": "7", "windspeedMiles": "4" } ], "request": [ {"query": "Lat 34.47 and Lon -84.42", "type": "LatLon" } ], "weather": [ {"date": "2011-01-06", "precipMM": "9.3", "tempMaxC": "7", "tempMaxF": "45", "tempMinC": "2", "tempMinF": "35", "weatherCode": "113", "weatherDesc": [ {"value": "Sunny" } ], "weatherIconUrl": [ {"value": "http:\/\/www.worldweatheronline.com\/images\/wsymbols01_png_64\/wsymbol_0001_sunny.png" } ], "winddir16Point": "WNW", "winddirDegree": "293", "winddirection": "WNW", "windspeedKmph": "20", "windspeedMiles": "13" }, {"date": "2011-01-07", "precipMM": "0.0", "tempMaxC": "6", "tempMaxF": "44", "tempMinC": "0", "tempMinF": "31", "weatherCode": "116", "weatherDesc": [ {"value": "Partly Cloudy" } ], "weatherIconUrl": [ {"value": "http:\/\/www.worldweatheronline.com\/images\/wsymbols01_png_64\/wsymbol_0002_sunny_intervals.png" } ], "winddir16Point": "WNW", "winddirDegree": "286", "winddirection": "WNW", "windspeedKmph": "25", "windspeedMiles": "16" } ] }}

  • Symfony2 same form, different entities NOT related

    - by user1381537
    I'm trying to write one form for submitting against MySQL DB, but I can't get it working, I've tried a lot of things (separate forms, create an ->add('foo', new foo()) to a field, and trying to parse plain SQL with a normal HTML form is my only solution, which is obviously not the best. This is my DB structure: As you can see I need to insert the comments textarea to ticketcomments among the user who wrote it, etc. On crmentity the description field. Then on ticketcf the fields that I need to submit from form, are this (because you wont know if I don't tell you because of the field names): tcf.cf594 AS Type, tcf.cf675 AS Suscription, tcf.cf770 AS ID_PRODUCT, tcf.cf746 AS NotificationDate, tcf.cf747 AS ResponseDate, tcf.cf748 AS ResolutionDate, And, of course, every table needs to have the same ticketid id for the submitted form, so we can retrieve it with one simple query. It will be easy to do with plain SQL instead of using DQL and Symfony2 forms, but is not a good way to do it. Also, here's my "Ticket list" query, if you need it to have it more clear... SELECT t.ticketNo AS Ticket, t.title AS Asunto, t.status AS Estado, t.updateLog AS LOG, t.hours AS Horas, t.solution AS Solucion, t.priority AS Prioridad, tcf.cf594 AS Tipo, tcf.cf675 AS Suscripcion, tcf.cf770 AS IDPROD, tcf.cf746 AS F_Noti, tcf.cf747 AS F_Resp, tcf.cf748 AS F_Reso, CONCAT (cd.firstname, cd.lastname) AS Contacto, crm.description AS Descripcion, crm.crmid AS id FROM WbsGoclientsBundle:VtigerTroubletickets t INNER JOIN WbsGoclientsBundle:VtigerTicketcf tcf WITH t.ticketid = tcf.ticketid INNER JOIN WbsGoclientsBundle:VtigerContactdetails cd WITH t.parentId = cd.contactid INNER JOIN WbsGoclientsBundle:VtigerCrmentity crm WITH t.ticketid = crm.crmid WHERE t.parentId IN ( SELECT cd1.contactid FROM WbsGoclientsBundle:VtigerContactdetails cd1 WHERE cd1.accountid = ( SELECT cd2.accountid FROM WbsGoclientsBundle:VtigerContactdetails cd2 WHERE cd2.contactid = :contactid)) AND t.status <> \'Closed\' And also "Ticket details" query (which is not in DQL format yet, only SQL) is so simple, it only retrieve the comments field and createdtime from ticketcomments appended to this query so we have all the fields... Thank you. This is a test form, using troubletickets and ticketcomments, it's returning errores because I can't set a comments field because troubletickets doesn't has it, but I need that field to be submitted to ticketcomments ... VtigerTicketcommentsType <?php namespace WbsGo\clientsBundle\Form\Type; use Symfony\Component\Form\AbstractType, Symfony\Component\Form\FormBuilderInterface; use Symfony\Component\OptionsResolver\OptionsResolverInterface; class VtigerTicketcommentsType extends AbstractType { public function buildForm(FormBuilderInterface $builder, array $options) { $builder ->add('ticketid') ->add('comments') ->add('ownerid') ->add('ownertype') ->add('createdtype') ; } public function setDefaultOptions(OptionsResolverInterface $resolver) { $resolver->setDefaults(array( 'data_class' => 'WbsGo\clientsBundle\Entity\VtigerTicketcomments' )); } public function getName() { return 'comments'; } } OpenTicketType.php <?php namespace WbsGo\clientsBundle\Form; use Symfony\Component\Form\AbstractType, Symfony\Component\Form\FormBuilderInterface ; use WbsGo\clientsBundle\Form\Type\VtigerTicketcommentsType; use Symfony\Component\OptionsResolver\OptionsResolverInterface; class OpenTicketType extends AbstractType { public function buildForm(FormBuilderInterface $builder, array $options) { $builder ->add('title') ->add('priority') ->add('solution') ->add('comments', 'collection', array( 'type' => new VtigerTicketcommentsType() )) ; } public function setDefaultOptions(OptionsResolverInterface $resolver) { $resolver->setDefaults(array( 'data_class' => 'WbsGo\clientsBundle\Entity\VtigerTroubletickets' )); } public function getName() { return 'ticket'; } } TicketController.php <?php namespace WbsGo\clientsBundle\Controller; use Symfony\Bundle\FrameworkBundle\Controller\Controller; use WbsGo\clientsBundle\Entity\VtigerTroubletickets; use WbsGo\clientsBundle\Entity\VtigerTicketcomments; use WbsGo\clientsBundle\Form\OpenTicketType; use Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\Request; class TicketController extends Controller { public function indexAction() { $em = $this->getDoctrine()->getManager(); $tickets = $em ->getRepository('WbsGoclientsBundle:VtigerTroubletickets') ->findAllOpenByCustomerId($this->getUser()->getId()); $userdata = $this->getDoctrine()->getManager() ->getRepository('WbsGoclientsBundle:VtigerContactdetails') ->findContact($this->getUser()->getId()); return $this ->render('WbsGoclientsBundle:Ticket:index.html.twig', array('tickets' => $tickets, 'userdata' => $userdata)); } public function addAction() { $assets = $this->getDoctrine()->getManager() ->getRepository('WbsGoclientsBundle:VtigerAssets') ->findAssetByAccountId($this->getUser()->getId()); $assetlist = array(); foreach ($assets as $key => $v) { $assetlist[$key] = $key; } $form = $this->createForm(new OpenTicketType(), new VtigerTroubletickets()); return $this ->render('WbsGoclientsBundle:Ticket:add.html.twig', array('form' => $form->createView(), 'assets' => $assets,)); } } This is the error Symfony2 is returning Neither the property "comments" nor one of the methods "getComments()", "isComments()", "hasComments()", "_get()" or "_call()" exist and have public access in class "WbsGo\clientsBundle\Entity\VtigerTroubletickets". EDIT 2 This code is actually rendering my forms, but I need help in order to submit each XXXType form to its corresponding table. public function buildForm(FormBuilderInterface $builder, array $options) { $builder ->add('descripcion') ->add('prioridad') ->add('solucion') ->add('comment', new VtigerTicketcommentsType() ) ->add('contacto') ->add('suscripcion') ->add('producto', 'entity', array( 'class' => 'WbsGo\clientsBundle\Entity\VtigerAssets', 'property' => 'assetname', 'empty_value' => '--SELECT--', 'query_builder' => function(\WbsGo\clientsBundle\Entity\VtigerAssetsRepository $repository) { //return $repository->findAssetByAccountId($this->customerId); return $repository->createQueryBuilder('a') ->select('a') ->where('a.account = (SELECT cd.accountid FROM WbsGoclientsBundle:VtigerContactdetails cd WHERE cd.contactid = ?1)') ->setParameter(1, $this->customerId); } ) ) ->add('hardware') ->add('backup') ->add('web') ->add('restore') ->add('customerId') ; } I also removed ->add('ticketid') from VtigerTicketcommentsType.php because it has relationship and is not needed. it's auto_incremental and must be generated once everything is submitted.

  • CSS: Centering a floated block level element in IE6 (It almost works)

    - by Louis W
    I have a block level element which I am centering on the page. I have gotten it to work for all other browsers except IE6 where it ALMOST works. http://tinyurl.com/28sh9eq If I view the page in IE6 the red box is slightly off center of the pink one in IE. If I then resize the browser window it snaps into place where I want it. Uhhhhh.... yea.... what gives? How come resizing the window makes it work? I have also tried setting an explicit width on the wrapper with no avail. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"> <html> <head> <title></title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7" /> <style type="text/css"> BODY { text-align: center; font-family: Arial; } .row_wrap { height: 100px; margin-bottom: 30px; background-color: pink; } .row { float: right; position: relative; left: -50%; text-align: left; clear: both; } .button1 { color: #FFF; height: 36px; text-decoration: none; position: relative; padding: 0 30px; background: url('button.gif') no-repeat 0 0; display: block; float: left; left: 50%; } .button1 .end { width: 20px; height: 37px; position: absolute; right: -2px; top: 0; background: url('button.gif') no-repeat right 0; } .button1 .text { font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; white-space: nowrap; height: 36px; padding-top: 7px; display: block; float: left; } .button1 .text .arrow { vertical-align: 1px; } </style> </head> <body> <h2>RTL: Button 1</h2> <div class="row_wrap"> <div class="row" dir="rtl"> <a href="#" class="button1"> <span class="end"></span> <span class="text"><span class="arrow">»</span> Hello 1.</span> </a> </div> </div> <h2>RTL: Button 1-2</h2> <div class="row_wrap" style="width: 400px;"> <div class="row" dir="rtl"> <a href="#" class="button1"> <span class="end"></span> <span class="text"><span class="arrow">»</span> Hello 1.</span> </a> </div> </div> <br/><br/> <h2>Normal: Button 1</h2> <div class="row_wrap"> <div class="row"> <a href="#" class="button1"> <span class="end"></span> <span class="text"><span class="arrow">»</span> Hello.</span> </a> </div> </div> </body> Thanks for your help.

  • Trying to use json to populate areas of my website using mysql, php, and jquery.

    - by RyanPitts
    Ok, so this is my first attempt at doing anything with JSON. I have done a lot with PHP and MySql as well as jQuery and JavaScript...but nothing with JSON. I have some data in a MySql database. In the codes below i am using a PHP file to retrieve the data from the MySql database and using json_encode to format it to JSON. This file is being called by the JavaScript that runs when the page loads (well, it runs on document.ready actually). I then use jQuery to access the JSON keys and values to fill in areas of the page "dynamically". Here is the code snippets i am using (excuse my "noobness" on writing these snippets, still learning all this). This is my script that is on my HTML page test.php: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $.getJSON("json_events.php",function(data){ $.each(data.events, function(i,events){ var tblRow = "<tr>" +"<td>" + events.id + "</td>" +"<td>" + events.customerId + "</td>" +"<td>" + events.filingName + "</td>" +"<td>" + events.title + "</td>" +"<td>" + events.details + "</td>" +"<td>" + events.dateEvent + "</td>" +"<td><a href='assets/customers/testchurch/events/" + events.image + "'>" + events.image + "</a></td>" +"<td>" + events.dateStart + "</td>" +"<td>" + events.dateEnd + "</td>" +"</tr>" $(tblRow).appendTo("#eventsdata tbody"); }); }); $.getJSON("json_events.php",function(data){ $.each(data.events, function(i,events){ $("#title").html("First event title: " + events.title + " ..."); }); }); }); </script> This is the code for the php file being called by the above JS: json_events.php <?php require_once('includes/configread.php'); $arrayEvents = array(); $resultsEvents = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM events"); while($objectEvents = mysql_fetch_object($resultsEvents)) { $arrayEvents[] = $objectEvents; } $json_object_events = json_encode($arrayEvents); $json_events = "{\"events\": " . $json_object_events . " }"; echo $json_events; require_once('includes/closeconnread.php'); ?> This is my JSON that is held in the variable $json_events from my php file json_events.php: { "events": [ { "id": "2", "customerId": "1004", "filingName": "testchurch", "title": "Kenya 2011 Training Meeting", "details": "This meeting will be taking place on Sunday, February 10th @ 6pm. Get ready for our annual Kenya trip in 2011. We have been blessed to be able to take this trip for the past 3 years. Now, it's your turn to bless others! Come to this training meeting to learn how to minister to the people in Kenya and also learn what we'll be doing there.", "dateEvent": "2011-02-10", "image": "kenya2011.jpg", "dateStart": "2010-09-04", "dateEnd": "2011-02-10" }, { "id": "6", "customerId": "1004", "filingName": "testchurch", "title": "New Series: The Journey", "details": "We will be starting our new series titled "The Journey". Come worship with us as we walk with Paul on his 2nd missionary journey.", "dateEvent": "2011-01-02", "image": "", "dateStart": "2010-09-06", "dateEnd": "2011-01-02" } ] } This is my HTML on test.php: <table id="eventsdata" border="1"> <thead> <tr> <th>id</th> <th>customerId</th> <th>filingName</th> <th>title</th> <th>details</th> <th>dateEvent</th> <th>image</th> <th>dateStart</th> <th>dateEnd</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody></tbody> </table> <div id="title"></div> I have two questions really... Question 1: Does this code look like it is written correctly at first glance? Question 2: I want to be able to select only the title from the first event in the JSON array. The code i am using now is selecting the second events' title by default it seems. How can i accomplish this?

  • Referencing ASP.net textbox data in JavaScripts

    - by GoldenEarring
    I'm interested in making an interactive 3D pie chart using JavaScript and ASP.net controls for a webpage. Essentially, I want to make an interactive version of the chart here: https://google-developers.appspot.com/chart/interactive/docs/gallery/piechart#3D I want to have 5 ASP.net textboxes where the user enters data and then submits it, and the chart adjusts according to what the user enters. I understand using ASP.net controls with JS is probably not the most effective way to go about it, but I would really appreciate if someone could share how doing this would be possible. • Which code snipplets in PHP can create a input form, which creates a new set of data in my mysql dat

    - by smiyazaki
    I am using the Google Maps API with parts in javascript and others in PHP. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> Google Maps AJAX + mySQL/PHP Example // var iconBlue = new GIcon(); iconBlue.image = 'icon.png'; iconBlue.shadow = ''; iconBlue.iconSize = new GSize(19, 19); iconBlue.shadowSize = new GSize(22, 20); iconBlue.iconAnchor = new GPoint(6, 20); iconBlue.infoWindowAnchor = new GPoint(5, 1); var iconRed = new GIcon(); iconRed.image = 'icon.png'; iconRed.shadow = ''; iconRed.iconSize = new GSize(19, 19); iconRed.shadowSize = new GSize(22, 20); iconRed.iconAnchor = new GPoint(6, 20); iconRed.infoWindowAnchor = new GPoint(5, 1); var customIcons = []; customIcons["restaurant"] = iconBlue; customIcons["bar"] = iconRed; function load() { if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map")); map.setMapType(G_SATELLITE_MAP); map.addControl(new GSmallMapControl()); map.addControl(new GMapTypeControl()); map.setCenter(new GLatLng(47.614495, -122.341861), 13); // Change this depending on the name of your PHP file GDownloadUrl("phpsqlajax_genxml.php", function(data) { var xml = GXml.parse(data); var markers = xml.documentElement.getElementsByTagName("marker"); for (var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++) { var name = markers[i].getAttribute("name"); var address = markers[i].getAttribute("address"); var type = markers[i].getAttribute("type"); var point = new GLatLng(parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lat")), parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lng"))); var marker = createMarker(point, name, address, type); map.addOverlay(marker); } }); } } function createMarker(point, name, address, type) { var marker = new GMarker(point, customIcons[type]); var html = "<b>" + name + "</b> <br/>" + address; GEvent.addListener(marker, 'click', function() { marker.openInfoWindowHtml(html); }); return marker; } //]]> (I suppose the php will be called by "GDownloadUrl("phpsqlajax_genxml.php", function(data) { ..." in the javascript part of the sourcecode of phpsqlajax_map.htm) Now I need another php file and the code snipplets for it, which creates an input form where I can add some new locations to the google map. Following code is used to create the xml file here: http://detektors.de/maptest/phpsqlajax_genxml.php The next step would be, trying to make an plugin for wordpress that I could easily post a blog entry with a new location on the same map, which displays already some other locations stored in the mysql database. thanks! <?php require("phpsqlajax_dbinfo.php"); function parseToXML($htmlStr) { $xmlStr=str_replace('<','<',$htmlStr); $xmlStr=str_replace('','>',$xmlStr); $xmlStr=str_replace('"','"',$xmlStr); $xmlStr=str_replace("'",''',$xmlStr); $xmlStr=str_replace("&",'&',$xmlStr); return $xmlStr; } // Opens a connection to a MySQL server $connection=mysql_connect ($host, $username, $password); if (!$connection) { die('Not connected : ' . mysql_error()); } // Set the active MySQL database $db_selected = mysql_select_db($database, $connection); if (!$db_selected) { die ('Can\'t use db : ' . mysql_error()); } // Select all the rows in the markers table $query = "SELECT * FROM markers WHERE 1"; $result = mysql_query($query); if (!$result) { die('Invalid query: ' . mysql_error()); } header("Content-type: text/xml"); // Start XML file, echo parent node echo ''; // Iterate through the rows, printing XML nodes for each while ($row = @mysql_fetch_assoc($result)){ // ADD TO XML DOCUMENT NODE echo ''; } // End XML file echo ''; ?
