• Javascript timer in parent window is cancelled on child window close

  I have a user UserControl on a web page. There is a javascript timer started by the control on the client that causes a web service to be called every few seconds. If the user clicks on the control a new browser window is opened (with window.open() ) to show a different page. Note the onclick returns false so there is no postback to the page. The page displayed in the second window also has a timer that operates in the same way as the first (calls a WebService at intervals). Upto this point everything is fine - each of the timers continue to run in their respective window. However, when I close the second window (either by clicking on the cross of the window or by calling self.close() ) the timer in the first stops. I've no idea why. Is there some relationship between the opener and opened window that I'm missing ?

• VBA nested Loop flow control

  I will be brief and stick to what I know. This code for the most part works as it should. The only issue is in the iteration of the x and z loop. these to loops should set the range and yLABEL for the Y loop. I can get through a set and come up with the correct range after that things go bonkers. I know some of it has to do with not breaking out of x to set z and then back to x update the range. It should work z is found then x. the range between them is set for y. then next x but y stays then rang between y and x is set for y.. so on and so forth kinda like a slinky down the stairs. or a slide rule depending on how I set the loops either way I end up all over the place after a couple iterations. I have done a few things but each time I break out of x to set z , X restarts at the top of the range. At least that's what I think I am seeing. In the example sheet i have since changed the way the way the offset works with the loop but the idea is still the same. I have goto statements at this time i was going to try figuring out conditional switches after the loops were working. Any help direction or advice is appreciated.   I want to clear the session on Page unload. Here is a condition : If user goes from Page A to Page B of the same site session must not get cleared. If user close the browser window or Tab(close the site),session must gets cleared. I have tried using AJAX PageMethod to call server-side procedure to remove session from client side script.But the procedure is not getting hit,I have checked it using Breakpoint. server side procedure is in master.cs file I will appreciate your help.   From Beej's Guide to Network programming You can force it to use IPv4 or IPv6 in the ai_family field, or leave it as AF_UNSPEC to use whatever. This is cool because your code can be IP version-agnostic. As the title says - what would be the disadvantages (or risks, if any) of always using AF_UNSPEC, instead of specifying IPv4 or IPv6? Or it's only for one reason - if the version is specified, this will guarantee that this and only this version is supported? A little background - I think about adding support for IPv6 in client-server (C++) applications and both versions should be supported. So I wondered if it's fine to use AF_UNSPEC or it's better to "recognize" the address from the string and use AF_INET6 or AF_INET, depending on the address.

  In multithreaded .NET programming, what are the decision criteria for using ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem versus starting my own thread via new Thread() and Thread.Start()? In a server app (let's say, an ASP.NET app or a WCF service) I think the ThreadPool is always there and available. What about in a client app, like a WinForms or WPF app? Is there a cost to spin up the thread pool? If I just want 3 or 4 threads to work for a short period on some computation, is it better to QUWI or to Thread.Start().

• Multiple complete HTTP requests stuck in TCP CLOSE_WAIT state

  I have a Java and Tomcat-based server application which initiates many outbound HTTP requests to other web sites. We use Jakarta's HTTP Core/Client libraries, very latest versions. The server locks up at some point since all its worker threads are stuck trying to close completed HTTP connections. Using 'lsof' reveals a bunch of sockets stuck in TCP CLOSE_WAIT state. This doesn't happen for all, or even most connections. In fact, I saw it before and resolved it by making sure to set the Connection: Close response header. So that makes me think it may be bad behavior of remote servers. It may have come up again since I moved the app to a totally new service provider -- different OS, network situation. But, I am still at a loss as to what I could do, if anything, to work around this. Some poking around on the internet didn't turn up anything I'm not already doing. Just thought I'd ask if anyone has seen and solved this?

• Concatenating rows from different tables into one field

  Hi! In a project using a MSSQL 2005 Database we are required to log all data manipulating actions in a logging table. One field in that table is supposed to contain the row before it was changed. We have a lot of tables so I was trying to write a stored procedure that would gather up all the fields in one row of a table that was given to it, concatenate them somehow and then write a new log entry with that information. I already tried using FOR XML PATH and it worked, but the client doesn't like the XML notation, they want a csv field. Here's what I had with FOR XML PATH: DECLARE @foo varchar(max); SET @foo = (SELECT * FROM table WHERE id = 5775 FOR XML PATH('')); The values for "table", "id" and the actual id (here: 5775) would later be passed in via the call to the stored procedure. Is there any way to do this without getting XML notation and without knowing in advance which fields are going to be returned by the SELECT statement?

  I'm working on a CMS system which uses a resource file to get information and errormessages from. The client side validation is working without problems, only it's not getting the errormessage from the resource file. While debugging i figured out xval seems to get the errormessages from a javascript file where the messages are set hard-coded. Is there some way to override this? Below the code which should make the relation to the resourcefile en specify the error when the field is left empty. • ASP.NET application partially reading external configuration

  I have an ASP.NET web app and am attempting to reference an external config (using enterprise application blocks configuration) for some of the configuration but it is not entirely working. I previously had all of the configuration info in the web.config (and it was working), but we are wanting to share some of this configuration information between multiple apps. When I put configurationSource tag in the web.config, and read the configuration through the WebConfigurationManager object, it loads some of the external config info (Logging) but not the connectionStrings and not the custom section I created. So its reading it (logging is working), but some dots aren't being connected and my connection strings aren't coming through. Again, it worked when it was all in the web.config. Any idea what needs to change to be able to reference an external configuration source and have it all come through? • Test wordpress sites for SQL Injection on siteurl

  I have a client who's wordpress sites have gotten hacked twice by iframe scammers. Each time they've injected iframe code into the content of the sites. This last time, today, they simply changed the siteurl in wp_options to their iframe code. The result was obvious and appeared to simply botch the paths of the scripts that rely on I can't determine if its a password compromise (on FTP or WordPress itself) or a SQL injection to alter siteurl. Since the only thing that was altered is siteurl, I'm thinking perhaps SQL Injection. What are your thoughts? Any way to scan a site for potential SQL injection vulnerabilities? The only active plugins on the site are contact form 7 and google xml sitemaps.

  I have a proxy object generated by Visual Studio (client side) named ServerClient. I am attempting to set ClientCredentials.UserName.UserName/Password before opening up a new connection using this code: InstanceContext context = new InstanceContext(this); m_client = new ServerClient(context); m_client.ClientCredentials.UserName.UserName = "Sample"; As soon as the code hits the UserName line it fails with an "Object is read-only" error. I know this can happen if the connection is already open or faulted, but at this point I haven't called context.Open() yet. I have configured the Bindings (which uses netTcpBinding) to use Message as it's security mode, and MessageClientCredentialType is set to UserName. Any ideas?

  Hi, the players: 64bit linux with php 5 (ZendFramework 1.10.2) PostgreSQL 7.3 Doctrine 1.2 Via a Flash/Flex client i get an 8byte integer value. the field in the database is an BIGINT (8 byte) PHP_INT_SIZE show that system supports 8byte integer. printing out the value in the code as it is and as intval() leads to this: Plain: 1269452776100 intval: 1269452776099 float rounding failure ? but what really driving me nuts is ERROR: invalid input syntax for integer: "1269452776099.000000"' when i try to use it in a query. like: Doctrine_Core::getTable('table')->findBy('external_id',$external_id); or Doctrine_Core::getTable('table')->findBy('external_id',intval($external_id)); How i am supposed to handle this ? or how can i give doctrine a floating point number which it should use on a bigint field ?   Hello. I am working for an intranet application. Therefore I have some control on the client machines. The JavaScript library I am using is somewhat big in size. I would like to pre-install OR pre-load OR cache the JavaScript library on each machine (each browser as well) so that it does not travel for each request. I know that browsers do cache a JavaScript library for subsequent requests but I would like the library to be cached once for all subsequent requests, sessions and users. What is the best mechanism to achieve this?

  Hi folks, Got a little issue where my client is pasting in content from Word into my little text editor in a CMS. The double quotes are coming back encoded in what looks like some form of UTF. Any ideas if I can strip/replace these using PHP when they get displayed out of my mySQL table. • Modifying records in my migration throws an authlogic error

  I'm adding some columns to one of my database tables, and then populating those columns: def self.up add_column :contacts, :business_id, :integer add_column :contacts, :business_type, :string Contact.reset_column_information Contact.all.each do |contact| contact.update_attributes(:business_id => contact.client_id, :business_type => 'Client') end remove_column :contacts, :client_id end The line contact.update_attributes is causing the following Authlogic error: You must activate the Authlogic::Session::Base.controller with a controller object before creating objects I have no idea what is going on here - I'm not using a controller method to modify each row in the table. Nor am I creating new objects. The error doesn't occur if the contacts table is empty. I've had a google and it seems like this error can occur when you run your controller tests, and is fixed by adding before_filter :activate_authlogic to them, but this doesn't seem relevant in my case. Any ideas? I'm stumped.

  I recorded a series of http packets that I cant programmatically recreate. The series of packets goes like this: HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=Network.eth0.MACAddress,Properties.System.SerialNumber,DVTelTest,SightLogix.ProdShortName HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=Properties.Image.Resolution HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=update&Network.RTSP.ProtViewer=password HTTP/1.1 HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=Event HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=ImageSource.I0.Sensor HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) Notice the two GET followed by one response. I though the two gets were going out at the same time but there is no corresponding number of responses. Also when trying to reproduce this pattern as the server if I abort the first GET request the client waits until it times out and starts the request over with out sending any other requests. What is happening here? How can I reproduce it?

  Hi, We're currently looking at an IT upgrade and I'm after recommendations for a tool which can do some or all of the following. SVN management (authz, web viewer, commit log, diff) Create template projects (1 click e.g. create me a microsite with this name in svn and give these people access) Reporting on code churn, time spent on tasks on a per project basis User story management Basically like Team Foundation Server but that integrates with SVN properly (reason for this - we have a wide range of skill sets and not everyone can use a TFS client). Is there a combination of Trac plugins + something that can create trac instances (a la Dreamhost's admin panel) that can acheive this. On a side note, does anyone have any experience of version controlling designery type files - e.g. PSDs, Illustrator files. Any advice at all appreciated. Cheers, Rob

• Google map in user control not loading from aspx code behind

  I am using Google maps API for proximity search. I have all this in an ascx client side. I have a button in the aspx code behind. The initial load of the map is fine. But on the button click, the map is not being loaded though all the other controls are loading properly. The controls are in an Update Panel and I am new to using these. Would appreciate in any suggestions made.

  I would like to somehow apply a try catch statement to all Actions as a backstop for any uncaught exceptions. I think this would be particularly helpful for Ajax Actions, because the catch statement could send back a default 4xx status code. Prototype's onFailure() function could then do the client-side error handling. How can I do this without wrapping the Action call with a try/catch in the cake dispatcher like this: try { output = $controller->dispatchMethod($params['action'], $params['pass']); } catch {...} Does anybody have a suggestion or another workable strategy for gaining this functionality without touching the dispatcher? How do people feel about putting exception handling in the Displatcher? I imagine when cake drops php 4 support, there will be a built-in mechanism for this.

  I am giving the following method call to my webview client embedded in my layout wv.loadData("<html><body bgcolor=\"Black\"></body></html>","text/html", "utf-8"); when i run this on the device, it shows a white vertical bar on the right side.
