  • MVC - Ajax form - return partial view doesnt update in <div> target

    - by Jack
    I have an index view that I want to update automatically as the user types in a client id. I got something similiar to work (only it was updating just a label) - but this will not work. What happens is the partial is just rendered by itself (not in place of the UpdateTargetID). So the data is rendered on a new page. Here is my code: Controller: public ActionResult ClientList(string queryText) { var clients = CR.GetClientLike(queryText); return PartialView("ClientIndex", clients); } Partial View: <table> <thead> <tr> <td>Client ID</td> <td>Phone1</td> <td>Phone2</td> <td>Phone3</td> <td>Phone4</td> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <% if (Model != null) { foreach (Client c in Model) { %> <tr> <td><%= Html.Encode(c.ClientID)%></td> <td><%= Html.Encode(c.WorkPhone)%></td> <td><%= Html.Encode(c.WorkPhone1)%></td> <td><%= Html.Encode(c.WorkPhone2)%></td> <td><%= Html.Encode(c.WorkPhone3)%></td> </tr> <% } } %> </tbody> Main View: Insert code messed up, so this is just copy/pasted: $(function() { $("#queryText").keyup(function() { $('#sForm').submit(); }); }); <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("ClientList", /* new { queryText = Form.Controls[2] ?? }*/"", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "status", InsertionMode = InsertionMode.Replace }, new { @id = "sForm" })) { % <% } % <div id="status" class="status" name="status"> <%--<% Html.RenderPartial("ClientIndex", ViewData["clients"]); %> Should this be here???? --%> </div>

  • Need to execute an ajax call incrementally after fixed time periods in javascript?

    - by Ali
    HI guys, I need to be able to make an ajax call to be made after every few minutes. Basically the ajax call would be to check on new emails in an inbox. If there are new emails it would download the emails to a database. I got all the server side code set up fine. I just need to know how do I set up on the front end the part where the ajax call is made after every few minutes plus it should be set up such that we don't end up with parallel ajax calls being made i.e if the ajax call hasn't returned a response it shouldn't start a new ajax request.

  • Problem with Twitter basic authentication using AJAX

    - by jelford
    I'm developing a javascript App that needs, as part of its functionality, for users to be able to update their Twitter status. The App is designed to work on mobiles, and as such I don't really want to be sending users all the way over to the Twitter site to sign in; they should just be able to pass their credentials to the app, and I'll handle all the signin. So I'm trying to use the Basic Auth with the restful API. My code looks like: function postTweet(input){ $.ajax( { type: "POST", url: "http://twitter.com/statuses/update.json", data: {status: input}, dataType: "json", error: function() { alert("Some error occured"); }, success: function() { alert("Success!"); }, beforeSend: function(request) { request.setRequestHeader("Authorization", "Basic BASE64OFMYCREDENTIALS");} } ) ; } So, as far as I'm aware, this should perform the authentication from the XMLHttpRequest header, and then post the status. However, whenever I call this code, I get a "401 Unauthorized" error from Twitter. Below are the request & response headers from firebug: Request: OPTIONS /statuses/update.json HTTP/1.1 Host: twitter.com User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8 Accept-Language: en-gb,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive: 115 Connection: keep-alive Origin: null Access-Control-Request-Method: POST Access-Control-Request-Headers: authorization Response: HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized Date: Sat, 13 Mar 2010 11:08:58 GMT Server: hi Status: 401 Unauthorized WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="Twitter API" X-Runtime: 0.00204 Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8 Cache-Control: no-cache, max-age=300 Set-Cookie: guest_id=1268478538488; path=/ _twitter_sess=BAh7CDoPY3JlYXRlZF9hdGwrCPlyNlcnAToHaWQiJWUyN2YzYjc3OTk2NGQ3%250ANzJkYTA4MjYzOWJmYTQyYmUyIgpmbGFzaElDOidBY3Rpb25Db250cm9sbGVy%250AOjpGbGFzaDo6Rmxhc2hIYXNoewAGOgpAdXNlZHsA--d687808459872da0aa6a89cab35fd347300b4d07; domain=.twitter.com; path=/ Expires: Sat, 13 Mar 2010 11:13:58 GMT Vary: Accept-Encoding Content-Encoding: gzip Content-Length: 88 Connection: close Any help with this would be much appreciated, Thanks, jelford ps. I should mention I'm using JQuery, incase it's not clear.

  • ASP.NET MVC ajax chat

    - by nccsbim071
    I built an ajax chat in one of my mvc website. everything is working fine. I am using polling. At certain interval i am using $.post to get the messages from the db. But there is a problem. The message retrieved using $.post keeps on repeating. here is my javascript code and controller method. var t; function GetMessages() { var LastMsgRec = $("#hdnLastMsgRec").val(); var RoomId = $("#hdnRoomId").val(); //Get all the messages associated with this roomId $.post("/Chat/GetMessages", { roomId: RoomId, lastRecMsg: LastMsgRec }, function(Data) { if (Data.Messages.length != 0) { $("#messagesCont").append(Data.Messages); if (Data.newUser.length != 0) $("#usersUl").append(Data.newUser); $("#messagesCont").attr({ scrollTop: $("#messagesCont").attr("scrollHeight") - $('#messagesCont').height() }); $("#userListCont").attr({ scrollTop: $("#userListCont").attr("scrollHeight") - $('#userListCont').height() }); } else { } $("#hdnLastMsgRec").val(Data.LastMsgRec); }, "json"); t = setTimeout("GetMessages()", 3000); } and here is my controller method to get the data: public JsonResult GetMessages(int roomId,DateTime lastRecMsg) { StringBuilder messagesSb = new StringBuilder(); StringBuilder newUserSb = new StringBuilder(); List<Message> msgs = (dc.Messages).Where(m => m.RoomID == roomId && m.TimeStamp > lastRecMsg).ToList(); if (msgs.Count == 0) { return Json(new { Messages = "", LastMsgRec = System.DateTime.Now.ToString() }); } foreach (Message item in msgs) { messagesSb.Append(string.Format(messageTemplate,item.User.Username,item.Text)); if (item.Text == "Just logged in!") newUserSb.Append(string.Format(newUserTemplate,item.User.Username)); } return Json(new {Messages = messagesSb.ToString(),LastMsgRec = System.DateTime.Now.ToString(),newUser = newUserSb.ToString().Length == 0 ?"":newUserSb.ToString()}); } Everything is working absloutely perfect. But i some messages getting repeated. The first time page loads i am retrieving the data and call GetMessages() function. I am loading the value of field hdnLastMsgRec the first time page loads and after the value for this field are set by the javascript. I think the message keeps on repeating because of asynchronous calls. I don't know, may be you guys can help me solve this. or you can suggest better way to implement this.

  • Performance issue when querying a large xml file through php/ajax on Apache Server

    - by Niall
    Hey, I have a simple "live search" (results displayed while typing) web site. This make up is Ajax to PHP querying a pretty large XML document (10,000+ lines). This is all been hosted on a local Apache server (xamp). The scale of the xml document seems to be causing huge performance issue with results taking 10ish seconds to give the results. I'm very new to PHP (this actually being my first play about) so there below is a snippet of code in case there is something obvious for($i=0; $i<($foodListXML->length); $i++){ $type=$foodListXML->item($i)->getElementsByTagName('type'); $foodnote=$foodListXML->item($i)->getElementsByTagName('foodnote'); $style=$foodListXML->item($i)->getElementsByTagName('style'); if ($type->item(0)->nodeType==1) { //find a link matching the search text if (stristr($type->item(0)->childNodes->item(0)->nodeValue,$q)){ $currentFoodName = $type->item(0)->childNodes->item(0)->nodeValue; $currentFoodStyle = $style->item(0)->childNodes->item(0)->nodeValue; $currentFoodNote = $foodnote->item(0)->childNodes->item(0)->nodeValue; if ($hint==""){ $hint= $currentFoodName . " , " . $currentFoodNote . " , <b>" . $currentFoodStyle. "</b>" . "<br>" ; } else{ $hint=$hint . $currentFoodName . " , " . $currentFoodNote . " , <b>" . $currentFoodStyle. "</b>" . "<br>" ; } } } } } Also if having the data in a DB and accessing that is faster, then I'm open to that.. All ideas really!! Thanks.

  • Ajax load div , part of CSS not working

    - by user225228
    Hello, I'm using the ajax to load a div content, but the div content is not taking the CSS of the page. Example :- This link will load into <a href="#" onclick="javascript:loadAjax('test.html')">Test</a> <div id="result"> <table class="tablesorter"> <thead> <tr> <th>Header 1</th><th>Header 2</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr><td>Record 1</td><td>Desc 1</td></tr> </tbody> </table> </div> In my CSS : table.tablesorter thead tr th, table.tablesorter tfoot tr th { background-color: #e6EEEE; border: 1px solid #FFF; font-size: 8pt; padding: 4px; } table.tablesorter thead tr .header { background-image: url(bg.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: center right; cursor: pointer; } In my test.html, it's the same table with different record : <table class="tablesorter"> <thead> <tr> <th>Header 1</th><th>Header 2</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr><td>Record 2</td><td>Desc 2</td></tr> </tbody> </table> The issue I'm facing is that before "test.html" is load, the CSS is fine. But after clicking on the link which suppose to loads test.html, the CSS background still shows but "cursor:pointer" and "background-image" not longer works. What should I do to make it work? Thanks in advance!

  • jQuery tablesorter - loss of functionality after AJAX call

    - by Nick
    I have recently been experimenting with the tablesorter plugin for jQuery. I have successfully got it up and running in once instance, and am very impressed. However, I have tried to apply the tablesorter to a different table, only to encounter some difficulties... Basically the table causing a problem has a <ul> above it which acts as a set of tabs for the table. so if you click one of these tabs, an AJAX call is made and the table is repopulated with the rows relevant to the specific tab clicked. When the page initially loads (i.e. before a tab has been clicked) the tablesorter functionality works exactly as expected. But when a tab is clicked and the table repopulated, the functionality disappears, rendering it without the sortable feature. Even if you go back to the original tab, after clicking another, the functionality does not return - the only way to do so is a physical refresh of the page in the browser. I have seen a solution which seems similar to my problem on this site, and someone recommends using the jQuery plugin, livequery. I have tried this but to no avail :-( If someone has any suggestions I would be most appreciative. I can post code snippets if it would help (though I know the instantiation code for tablesorter is fine as it works on tables with no tabs - so it's definitely not that!) EDIT: As requested, here are some code snippets: The table being sorted is <table id="#sortableTable#">..</table>, the instantiation code for tablesorter I am using is: $(document).ready(function() { $("#sortableTable").tablesorter( { headers: //disable any headers not worthy of sorting! { 0: { sorter: false }, 5: { sorter: false } }, sortMultiSortKey: 'ctrlKey', debug:true, widgets: ['zebra'] }); }); And I tried to rig up livequery as follows: $("#sortableTable").livequery(function(){ $(this).tablesorter(); }); This has not helped though... I am not sure whether I should use the id of the table with livequery as it is the click on the <ul> I should be responding to, which is of course not part of the table itself. I have tried a number of variations in the hope that one of them will help, but to no avail :-(

  • JQuery - Pass variables to PHP script via AJAX call and then display file

    - by hfidgen
    Hiya, I'm trying to generate Outlook event files for my events, doing so on the fly as and when someone requests it by pressing a link on the page. Here's what i've got so far, but I can't find out how to get the browser to download the content which is returned. I know how I could do this if I sent everything via _GET, but I'd prefer to do it via _POST, hence I'm going down this route.. Any thoughts? Thanks! HTML / Javascript <script> $(function() { $(".button").click(function() { // validate and process form // first hide any error messages var start = $("input#start").val(); var end = $("input#end").val(); var dataString = 'start='+ start + '&end=' + end; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/calendar.php", data: dataString, success: function(data) { //Need to return the file contents somehow! } }); return false; }); }); </script> <form name="calendar" method="post" action=""> <input type="hidden" name="start" id="start" value="<?php echo $start; ?>" /> <input type="hidden" name="end" id="end" value="<?php echo $end; ?>" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" class="button" id="submit_btn" value="Outlook" /> </fieldset> </form> PHP File <?php if (isset($_POST['start'])) { $start = $_POST['start']; $end = $_POST['end']; $c = header("Content-Type: text/Calendar"); $c .= header("Content-Disposition: inline; filename=calendar.ics"); $c .= "BEGIN:VCALENDAR\n"; $c .= "VERSION:2.0\n"; $c .= "PRODID:-//xxxyyyy//NONSGML //EN\n"; $c .= "METHOD:REQUEST\n"; // requied by Outlook $c .= "BEGIN:VEVENT\n"; $c .= "UID:". $start . $end ."-" .   • AJAX, same-origin Policy and working XML Requests

    - by Joern
    Hello guys, so, currently I develop Widgets for Smartphones and am going a bit more advanced into fields of data exchange between client and server applications. My problem is: For my current project I want my client file to request data from a PHP script with the help of AJAX XmlHttpRequest and the POST method: function xmlRequestNotes() { var parameter = 'p=1234'; xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("POST", url, true); // Http Header xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Content-length", parameter.length); xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { json = JSON.parse(xmlhttp.responseText); // Doing Stuff with the Response } }; xmlhttp.send(parameter); } This works perfectly fine on my local server set up in XAMPP and the local Widget emulator. But if it gets onto the device (also with access to the target network) I receive the 101 Network Error. And as far as I have read, this is due to the "Same-Origin Policy" of XmlHttpRequests? My problem is to really understand that. Although the idea of this policy is clear to me, I'm a bit confused by the fact that another XmlHttpRequest for a Yahoo Weather XML Feed works fine. Now, could anyone be so helpful to enlighten me? Here is the request that returns a city name from Yahoo's weather feed: function getCityName() { xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("GET", "http://weather.yahooapis.com/forecastrss?w=645458&u=c", true); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange = function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { xmlhttp.responseXML; var yweather = "http://xml.weather.yahoo.com/ns/rss/1.0"; alert(xmlhttp.responseXML.getElementsByTagNameNS(yweather, "location")[0].getAttribute("city")); } }; xmlhttp.send(null); } Obvious differences are the POST and GET methods for once, but seeing that the Same-Origin Policy takes effect no matter what method, I can't really make much sense of it. Why does the latter request work but not the first? I would really appreciate some help here. Greetings and a merry Christmas to you guys!

  • Ajax, php, mysql not working mysql limit

    - by Hofmeister Ákos
    I have 3 files. list.php $articles = $mysqli->query("SELECT mainPictureBig, title, writer, writeDate, link FROM articles WHERE category=$this->category ORDER BY writeDate DESC LIMIT 0,10"); while($article = mysqli_fetch_row($articles)) { echo "<a href=\"".$this->url."/".$article[3]."/".$article[4]."\"><div id=\"listElement\"> <div id=\"listElementWallpaper\" style=\"background-image: url('category/img.jpg');\"></div> <div id=\"listElementContent\"><div id=\"listElementTitle\">".$article[1]."</div>".$this->giveWriter($article[2]).", ".$this->giveDate($article[3])."</div> </div></a>"; } $maximumElements=ceil($numberOfContent / 10) * 10; It's working, so there is no problem, it lists the first 10 elements from the sql table, and i got the $numberOfCOntent part also. Than i have a button: echo "<div id=\"listMore\"><div id=\"buttonOne\" onclick=\"listMore($this->category,$maximumElements)\">Load more</div></div>"; There is also no problem, i load the .js file, and it looks like: var from = 10; function listMore(categoryId, maximum) { $( "#listMore" ).slideUp( 200, function() { $( "#listMore" ).html("<center>Loading..</center>"); $( "#listMore" ).slideDown( 500, function() { $.post( "http://localhost/ajax.php", {type: "listMore", id: categoryId, sqlFrom: from} ) .done(function( elements ) { $("#listBody").append( elements ); if(maximum > from+10) { from = from+10; $( "#listMore" ).slideUp(200, function() { $( "#listMore" ).html("<div id=\"buttonOne\" onclick=\"listMore("+categoryId+","+maximum+")\">Load more</div>"); $( "#listMore" ).slideDown(200); }); } else $( "#listMore" ).slideUp(200); }); }); }); } And it's also working, and the problem is in the PHP file. As you can see, i'm sending an integer the "from" variable, the PHP file: $articles = $mysqli->query("SELECT mainPictureBig, title, writer, writeDate, link FROM articles WHERE category=$id ORDER BY writeDate DESC LIMIT $from,10"); It's also working, but not loading the next 10, only the next 9. So it skips the very next row and loads the rows only after the very first, so only 9. I tried to write here only the important part of the code, so i skipped some echo part etc. Any idea?

  • Need help helping in converting jquery, ajax, json and asp.net

    I am tying out this tutorial, http://www.ezzylearning.com/tutorial.aspx?tid=5869127. It works perfectly. What I am now trying to do is to host the aspx contents as html file. • jquery in ajax loaded content

    - by Kim Gysen
    My application is supposed to be a single page application and I have the following code that works fine: home.php: <div id="container"> </div> accordion.php: //Click functions: load content $('#parents').click(function(){ //Load parent in container $('#container').load('http://www.blabla.com/entities/parents/parents.php'); }); parents.php: <div class="entity_wrapper"> Some divs and selectors </div> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ //Some jQuery / javascript }); </script> So the content loads fine, while the scripts dynamically loaded execute fine as well. I apply this system repetitively and it continues to work smoothly. I've seen that there are a lot of frameworks available on SPA's (such as backbone.js) but I don't understand why I need them if this works fine. From the backbone.js website: When working on a web application that involves a lot of JavaScript, one of the first things you learn is to stop tying your data to the DOM. It's all too easy to create JavaScript applications that end up as tangled piles of jQuery selectors and callbacks, all trying frantically to keep data in sync between the HTML UI, your JavaScript logic, and the database on your server. For rich client-side applications, a more structured approach is often helpful. Well, I totally don't have the feeling that I'm going through the stuff they mention. Adding the javascript per page works really well for me. They are html containers with clear scope and the javascript is just related to that part. More over, the front end doesn't do that much, most of the logic is managed based on Ajax calls to external PHP scripts. Sometimes the js can be a bit more extended for some functionalities, but all just loads as smooth in less than a second. If you think that this is bad coding, please tell me why I cannot do this and more importantly, what is the alternative I should apply. At the moment, I really don't see a reason on why I would change this approach as it just works too well. I'm kinda stuck on this question because it just worries me sick as it seems to easy to be true. Why would people go through hard times if it would be as easy as this...

  • Codeigniter: Retrieving data on button click with Ajax

    - by OllyTenerife
    I have a simple webpage which generates a random quote from my database upon refreshing the page. I wish to implement some AJAX and JQuery in order to generate quotes via the button rather than having to refresh the page. I have done some research but I am not sure how to implement this in Codeigniter. My current code is below... Page controller: public function index() { $this->load->model('quote_model', '', TRUE); $data['quotes'] = $this->quote_model->getRandom(); $this->load->view('home', $data); } The view: <?php include ('layout/header.php'); ?> <div class="container-fluid"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-4 quote-holder"> <img src="application/assets/alan1.jpg" alt="..." class="img-circle img-responsive"> <br> <blockquote class="text-center"> <p><?php echo $quotes[0]['quote']; ?></p> <footer class="text-center"><?php echo $quotes[0]['character_name']; ?> in <cite title="Source Title"><?php echo $quotes[0]['series_name']; ?></cite></footer> </blockquote> <button type="button" class="btn btn-default center-block">Generate quote</button> </div> </div> <?php include ('layout/footer.php'); ?> Here is the function in the model I am retrieving the data from: function getRandom() { $query = $this->db->query(" SELECT * FROM quotes, characters, series WHERE quotes.series_id = series.series_id AND quotes.character_id = characters.character_id ORDER BY rand() LIMIT 1 "); return $query->result_array(); } Should I simply be using something like this? $("button").click(function(){ $.get( "Page/index", function( data ) { //output data to page element... } });

The problem is: not always this connection is avaible and i would like to alert the user when is doing a submit or an unload of the page. The problem is that the page contains elements doing redirect like this: <input type="button" value="MyText" onClick="script1;script2;...window.location='mylocation" /> If the user click on this button and the server is not achievable, i will recive some undesiderable errors. Also if I want to generalize my script i do not know the value of "mylocation" previously. The page contains elements to submit the Form also: <input type="submit" name="SUBMIT" value="MyValue" onClick="return eval('validationForm()')" /> For the submitting I'm using the ajaxForm plugin and it works quite well. This is a snippet of code: Thanks to your answer I found the solution to the problem. That's the code: function checkConnection(u,s){ $.ajax({ url:u, cache:false, timeout:3000, error: function(jqXHR, textStatus) { alert("Request failed: " + textStatus ); }, success: function() { eval(s); } }); } $(document).ready(function() { // part of the function that checks buttons with redirect // for any input that contain a redirect on onClick attribute ("window.locarion=") $("input[type=button]").each(function(){ var script = $(this).attr("onClick"); var url = ""; var position = script.indexOf("window.location") ; if (position >= 0) { // case of redirect url = script.substring(position+17, script.lenght); url = url.split("\'")[0]; url = "\'"+url+"\'"; // that's my url script = "\""+script+"\""; // that's the complete script $(this).attr("onClick","checkConnection("+url+","+script+")"); } }); // part of the function that checks the submit buttons (using ajaxForm plugin) var is_error = false; var options = { error: function() { if (alert("Error Message")==true) { } is_error = true; }, target: window.document, replaceTarget: is_error, timeout: 3000 }; $("#myForm").ajaxForm(options); }); I hope that this will be usefull.

  • Declare Ajax-webservicecall OnSuccess method anonymous.

    - by user333113
    I write a lot of ajax javascript code and have a little design problem which I'm not totally satisfied with. A lot of times I end up with writing something like this: var typeOfPopup; function RetrievePopupContent(_typeOfPopup) { switch (_typeOfPopup) { case Popup1: WebService.RetrievePopup1Content(param1, param2, DisplayPopup, OnError); break; case Popup2: WebService.RetrievePopup2Content(param1, param2, DisplayPopup, OnError); break; } typeOfPopup = _typeOfPopup; } function DisplayPopup(result) { switch (typeOfPopup) { case Popup1: $get('Popup1').innerHTML = result; break; case Popup2: $get('Popup2').innerHTML = result; break; } Allright. This is a simplified example of what I mean. Often I end up with a lot worse code I believe. What I don't like is the global state variabel outside the functions. One solution I wasn't thinking about when writing this code is to send a context object. I believe you could write something like this: function RetrievePopupContent(typeOfPopup) { switch (typeOfPopup) { case Popup1: WebService.RetrievePopup1Content(param1, param2, DisplayPopup, OnError, typeOfPopup); break; case Popup2: WebService.RetrievePopup2Content(param1, param2, DisplayPopup, OnError, typeOfPopup); break; } } function DisplayPopup(result, typeOfPopup) { switch (typeOfPopup) { case Popup1: $get('Popup1').innerHTML = result; break; case Popup2: $get('Popup2').innerHTML = result; break; } Is this the recommended way? What I also want to do is to be able to write something like this: function RetrievePopupContent(typeOfPopup) { switch (typeOfPopup) { case Popup1: WebService.RetrievePopup1Content(param1, param2, new function(result) { $get('Popup1').innerHTML = result; }, OnError); break; case Popup2: WebService.RetrievePopup2Content(param1, param2, new function(result) { $get('Popup2').innerHTML = result; }, OnError); break; } } Is this possible at all? To declare the callback function anonymous? I am grateful for all opinions on the two options I mentioned myself and also new alternatives to get rid of my global variables I have used this way.

  • Upload two files at once

    I am trying to upload two files at once (two file fields) with codeigniters upload class. Despite having provided the field name codeigniter produces errors on the second field. I this a limitation of codeigniter, php or html or am I simply using the class incorectly? $this->upload->do_upload('video_file') $this->upload->do_upload('image_file') Produces this on the image field: The filetype you are attempting to upload is not allowed. Here are my two functions function upload_image() { $thumb_size = 94; $config['upload_path'] = './assets/uploads/images/'; $config['allowed_types'] = 'jpg|png|gif'; $config['max_size'] = '2048'; $config['file_name'] = 'video_' . rand(999999, 999999999); $this->load->library('upload', $config); if (!$this->upload->do_upload('image_file')) { $error = array('error' => $this->upload->display_errors()); return $error; } else { function upload_video() { $config['upload_path'] = './assets/uploads/videos/'; $config['allowed_types'] = 'flv'; $config['max_size'] = '0'; $config['file_name'] = 'video_' . rand(999999, 999999999); $this->load->library('upload', $config); if (!$this->upload->do_upload('video_file')) { $error = array('error' => $this->upload->display_errors()); return $error; } else {

  • JQuery get attr value from ajax loaded page

    - by Paolo Rossi
    In my index.php I've a ajax pager that load a content page (paginator.php). index.php <script type='text/javascript' src='js/jquery-1.11.1.min.js'></script> <script type='text/javascript' src='js/paginator.js'></script> <script type='text/javascript' src='js/functions.js'></script> <!-- Add fancyBox --> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.fancybox.pack.js?v=2.1.5"></script> <html> <div id="content"></div> paginator.js $(function() { var pageurl = 'paginator.php'; //Initialise the table at the first run $( '#content' ).load( pageurl, { pag: 1 }, function() { //animation(); }); //Page navigation click $( document ).on( 'click', 'li.goto', function() { //Get the id of clicked li var pageNum = $( this ).attr( 'id' ); $( '#content' ).load( pageurl, { pag: pageNum }, function() { //animation(); }); }); }); /* END */ paginator.php <ul><li>..etc </ul> ... ... <a id='test' vid='123'>get the id</a> <a id='test2' url='somepage.php'>open fancybox</a> I would like to take a variable of the loaded page (paginator.php) in this way but unfortunately I can not. functions.js $(function() { $('#test' ).click(function(e) { var id = $('#test').attr('vid'); alert ("vid is " + vid); }); }); /* END */ In this case popup not appear. I tried with add fancybox in my functions.js. Dialog box appear but the url attr is not taken. var url = $('#test2').attr('url'); $('#test').fancybox({ 'href' : url, 'width' : 100, 'height' : 100, 'autoScale' : false, 'transitionIn' : 'none', 'transitionOut' : 'none', 'type' : 'iframe', 'fitToView' : true, 'autoSize' : false }); In other scenarios, without having the page loaded, I can do it, but in this case the behavior is different. How could I do this? thanks EDIT my goal is to open a dialog (fancybox) taking a variable from the loaded page EDIT2 I tried in this way paginator.php <a id="test" vid="1234">click me</a> paginator.js //Initialise the table at the first run $( '#content' ).load( pageurl, { pag: 1 }, function() { hide_anim(); popup(); }); //Page navigation click $( document ).on( 'click', 'li.goto', function() { //Get the id of clicked li var pageNum = $( this ).attr( 'id' ); $( '#content' ).load( pageurl, { pag: pageNum }, function() { hide_anim(); popup(); }); }) function.js function popup() { $('#test' ).click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); var vid = $('#test').attr('vid'); alert ("vid is " + vid); }); } But popup not appear...

  • Why is parsing a jSON response to a jQUERY ajax request not working

    - by Ankur
    I know there are several similar questions on SO, I have used some of them to get this far. I am trying to list a set of urls that match my input values. I have a servlet which takes some input e.g. "aus" in the example below and returns some output using out.print() e.g. the two urls I have shown below. EXAMPLE Input: "aus" Output: [{"url":"http://dbpedia.org/resource/Stifel_Nicolaus"},{"url":"http://sempedia.org/ontology/object/Australia"}] Which is exactly what I want. I have seen that firebug doesn't seem to have anything in the response section despite having called out.print(jsonString); and it seems that out.print(jsonString); is working as expected which suggests that the variable 'jsonString' contains the expected values. However I am not exactly sure what is wrong. -------- The jQuery --------- $(document).ready(function() { $("#input").keyup(function() { var input = $("#input").val(); //$("#output").html(input); ajaxCall(input); }); }); function ajaxCall(input) { // alert(input); $.ajax({ url: "InstantSearchServlet", data: "property="+input, beforeSend: function(x) { if(x && x.overrideMimeType) { x.overrideMimeType("application/j-son;charset=UTF-8"); } }, dataType: "json", success: function(data) { for (var i = 0, len = datalength; i < len; ++i) { var urlData = data[i]; $("#output").html(urlData.url); } } }); } ------ The Servlet that calls the DAO class - and returns the results ------- public class InstantSearchServlet extends HttpServlet{ private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws IOException, ServletException { System.out.println("You called?"); response.setContentType("application/json"); PrintWriter out = response.getWriter(); InstantSearch is = new InstantSearch(); String input = (String)request.getParameter("property"); System.out.println(input); try { ArrayList<String> urllist; urllist = is.getUrls(input); String jsonString = convertToJSON(urllist); out.print(jsonString); System.out.println(jsonString); } catch (SQLException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } } private String convertToJSON(ArrayList<String> urllist) { Iterator<String> itr = urllist.iterator(); JSONArray jArray = new JSONArray(); int i = 0; while (itr.hasNext()) { i++; JSONObject json = new JSONObject(); String url = itr.next(); try { json.put("url",url); } catch (JSONException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } jArray.put(json); } String results = jArray.toString(); return results; } }

  • how to user ajax with json in ruby on rails

    - by fenec
    I am implemeting a facebook application in rails using facebooker plugin, therefore it is very important to use this architecture if i want to update multiple DOM in my page. if my code works in a regular rails application it would work in my facebook application. i am trying to use ajax to let the user know that the comment was sent, and update the comments bloc. migration: class CreateComments < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up create_table :comments do |t| t.string :body t.timestamps end end def self.down drop_table :comments end end controller: class CommentsController < ApplicationController def index @comments=Comment.all end def create @comment=Comment.create(params[:comment]) if request.xhr? @comments=Comment.all render :json=>{:ids_to_update=>[:all_comments,:form_message], :all_comments=>render_to_string(:partial=>"comments" ), :form_message=>"Your comment has been added." } else redirect_to comments_url end end end view: <script> function update_count(str,message_id) { len=str.length; if (len < 200) { $(message_id).innerHTML="<span style='color: green'>"+ (200-len)+" remaining</span>"; } else { $(message_id).innerHTML="<span style='color: red'>"+ "Comment too long. Only 200 characters allowed.</span>"; } } function update_multiple(json) { for( var i=0; i<json["ids_to_update"].length; i++ ) { id=json["ids_to_update"][i]; $(id).innerHTML=json[id]; } } </script> <div id="all_comments" > <%= render :partial=>"comments/comments" %> </div> Talk some trash: <br /> <% remote_form_for Comment.new, :url=>comments_url, :success=>"update_multiple(request)" do |f|%> <%= f.text_area :body, :onchange=>"update_count(this.getValue(),'remaining');" , :onkeyup=>"update_count(this.getValue(),'remaining');" %> <br /> <%= f.submit 'Post'%> <% end %> <p id="remaining" >&nbsp;</p> <p id="form_message" >&nbsp;</p> <br><br> <br> if i try to do alert(json) in the first line of the update_multiple function , i got an [object Object]. if i try to do alert(json["ids_to_update"][0]) in the first line of the update_multiple function , there is no dialog box displayed. however the comment got saved but nothing is updated. questions: 1.how can javascript and rails know that i am dealing with json objects? 2.how can i debug this problem? 3.how can i get it to work?

  • I'm trying to return text from a .txt file using ajax

    - by saad
    I'm trying to get my first ajax script to work. The five images are all side by side. Whenever the user hovers the mouse over any of them, it sends a request to a .txt file on the server and the caption is displayed in the div#image_caption. The problem is, even when I mouse over the image, the caption does not display. I'm not quite sure what could be causing this. Here is the code <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> div#images{overflow: auto;} img{float: left; width: 200px; height: 200px; margin-right: 15px;} div#image_caption {width: 1040px; height: 300px; margin-top: 30px; border: 2px black solid;} </style> <script type="text/javascript" src ="jquery-2.0.3.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { function show_caption(url) { //shows the caption once the mouse hovers over the image var asyncreq; if(window.XMLHttpRequest) { //IE 7+ and other browsers asyncreq = new XMLHttpRequest(); //define the request } else { //for IE 7- asyncreq = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } asyncreq.open("GET", url, true); //give it properties asyncreq.send(); //send the request to the server asyncreq.onreadystatechange = function() { if(asyncreq.readyState == 4 && asyncreq.status == 200) { $("div#image_caption").html(asyncreq.responseText); //add the caption (response text from the file) to the box } } } //end of show_caption(url) function hide_caption() { //hides the caption once the mouse is gone $("div#image_caption").html(""); } }); </script> </head> <body> <h1>Hover over an image for more information.</h1> <div id = "images"> <img src="images/backg.jpg" mouseover = 'show_caption("backg_caption.txt");' mouseout = 'hide_caption();'/> <img src="images/Desert.jpg"mouseover = 'show_caption("Desert_caption.txt");' mouseout = 'hide_caption();'/> <img src="images/Penguins.jpg" mouseover = 'show_caption("Penguins_caption.txt");' mouseout = 'hide_caption();'/> <img src="images/Tulips.jpg" mouseover = 'show_caption("Tulips_caption.txt");' mouseout = 'hide_caption();'/> <img src="images/odji1.jpg" mouseover = 'show_caption("Desert_caption.txt");' mouseout = 'hide_caption();'/> </div> <div id = "image_caption"> </div> </body> </html>

  • PHP Ajax not working

    I have 3 buttons on my page and depending on which one the user is clickingi want to run through ajax call a delete query in my database. When the user clicks on a button the javascript function seems to work but it doesn't run the query in php script.
