• How can I transfer article content from old Joomla 1.5 site to new 2.5 site

  I have an existing Joomla 1.5 site and am intending to wipe it and install a brand new 2.5 site. I will pick new plugins, template etc but would like to transfer the basic text / images of the articles on the 1.5 site to the new site. I am less concerned with categories and tags of those old articles, as they'll probably go in an 'old' category. I have several file and database backups of the 1.5 site. Has anyone done anything similar ? Are the two article db schemas similar enough to just transfer the data ?

  The implicit line continuation feature in Visual Basic 2010 provided an opportunity to improve the code editing experience in XML literals embedded expressions. In Visual Studio 2008, pressing Enter inside an embedded expression would result in the cursor being positioned to the left of the end embedded expression tag. In Visual Studio 2010, pressing Enter inserts a newline for the cursor, and the end embedded expression tag moves to the line below.   In the Silverlight world, there are two types of cross-domain things that may leave some banging their head against a wall for a while. • Geronimo 3 beta - Another Apache project now compatible with Java EE 6

  You probably recall the addition of TomEE and WebSphere CE at JavaOne 2011 to the list of certified Java EE 6 products. This time, Apache Geronimo 3 beta 1 was released with compatibility with the Java EE 6 full platform and is now listed on the Java EE Compatibility Page in both the Web Profile and Full Platform categories. Not surprisingly, a good number of the components used in this Geronimo release are similar to those used in the TomEE certification. • International TLD's vs. duplicate content

  Hey all, I currently work at a pretty big website that has visitors from around the globe. My job is to help out on the SEO, and one thing we've been discussing lately is the use of international TLD's. The ones we use range between: (partly) translated websites like .es and .de that serve most of the content in the country's language non-translated (english) websites for non-english languages (due to a lack of translations) like .ro and .cz english websites for english speaking countries with localized TLD's (.co.nz, .co.uk) On one hand I really have the feeling this is causing a lot of duplicate content, especially for the last two categories of TLD's. On the other hand though it seems a lot like country-specific TLD's tend to score a lot better in that country's Google. Would it be advisable to keep on using these domains, or should we canonicalize them all to the .com version?
