    The below code works in Delphi 2007, but it gives me this error in Delphi 2010: --------------------------- Error --------------------------- Cannot load oci.dll library (error code 127). The oci.dll library may be missing from the system path or you may have an incompatible version of the library installed. --------------------------- OK Details >> --------------------------- The exception is raised when I set "connected" to "true". I have tried placing a copy of "oci.dll" in the same folder as the .exe file, but I get the same message. I also get this message when using the form designer and a visible TSQLConnection component.   • JSF: Cannot catch ViewExpiredException

    I'm developing a JSF 2.0 application on Glassfish v3 and i'm trying to handle the ViewExpiredException. But whatever i do, i always get a Glassfish error report instead of my own error page. To simulate the occurrence of the VEE, i inserted the following function into my backing bean, which fires the VEE. I'm triggering this function from my JSF page through a commandLink. The Code: @Named public class PersonHome { (...) public void throwVEE() { throw new ViewExpiredException(); } } At first i tried it by simply adding an error-page to my web.xml: <error-page> <exception-type>javax.faces.application.ViewExpiredException</exception-type> <location>/error.xhtml</location> </error-page> But this doesn't work, i'm not redirected to error but i'm shown the Glassfish errorpage, which shows a HTTP Status 500 page with the following content: description:The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request. exception: javax.servlet.ServletException: javax.faces.application.ViewExpiredException root cause: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException:javax.faces.application.ViewExpiredException root cause:javax.faces.application.ViewExpiredException Next thing i tried was to write ExceptionHandlerFactory and a CustomExceptionHandler, as described in JavaServerFaces 2.0 - The Complete Reference.     Well BindingList and ObservableCollection work great to keep data updated and to notify when one of it's objects has changed. However, when notifying a property is about to change, I think these options are not very good.     Hi All, I'm building a J2SE application with EJB3 and an Oracle Express Edition DB. My problem is like that - I set an EntityBean in my project which matches a table in the DB. The table contains a column which is not nullable and has a default value. All I want is that when persisting a new data to this table using the EJB, the column's value will get its default value. This is how I set it in the project: //holds user's first name @Basic(optional = true) @Column(name = "FIRST_NAME", insertable = false, updatable = true, nullable = false) private String m_firstName; I also set it in the ORM.XML file: <basic name="firstName"> <column name="FIRST_NAME" insertable="false" updatable="true" nullable="false"/> </basic> But for some reason, when creating a new EntityBean and not setting the first name field, and then trying to persist it, i get the following exception: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b60e-fcs (12/23/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("TSDB"."USERS"."FIRST_NAME") Which means that the persistence manager tries to insert the first name field although I told it not to. Am I doing something wrong here ? Thanks!

    Hi all, I believe I know the answer to this question, but wanted to confirm: Question Does Sql server (or will it in the foreseeable future), offer a database-wide "unicode switch" which says "store all characters in unicode (UTF-16, UCS-2, etc)", i.e. like Oracle. The Context Our application has provided "CJK" (Chinese-Japanese-Korean) support for years--using Oracle as the db store. Recently folks have been asking for the same support in sql server. We store our db schema definition in xml and generate the vendor-specific definitions (oracle, sql server) using vendor-specific xsl. We can make the change easily. The problem is for upgrades. Generated scripts would need to change the column types for 100+ columns from varchar to nvarchar, varchar(max) to nvarchar(max), etc. These changes require dropping and recreating indexes and foreign keys if the any indexes/fk's exist on the column. Non-trivial. Risky. DB-wide character encodings for us would eliminate programming changes. (I.e. we would not to change the column types from varchar to nvarchar; sql server would correctly store unicode data in varchar columns). I had thought that eventually sql server would "see the light" and allow storing unicode in varchar/clob columns. Evidently not yet. Recap So just to triple check: does mssql offer a database-wide switch for character encoding? Will it in SQL2008R3? or 2010? thanks, bill

    Is there a way to separate out the domain objects and mapping files into two separate projects? I would like to create one project called MyCompany.MyProduct.Core that contains my domain model, and another project that is called MyCompany.MYProduct.Data.Oracle that contains my Oracle data mappings. However, when I try to unit test this I get the following error message: Named query 'GetClients' not found.   • Placing component on Glass Pane

    I have a subclass of JLabel that forms a component of my GUI. I have implemented the ability to drag and drop the component from one container to another, but without any visual effects. I want to have this JLabel follow the cursor during the drag of the item from one container to another. I figured that I could just create a glass pane and draw it on there. However, even after I add the component to the glass pane, set the component visible, and set the glass pane visible, and set the glass pane as opaque, I still so not see the component. I know the component works because I can add it to the content pane and have it show up.     Hello I have some data in a Oracle database table(around 4 million records) which i want to transform and store in a MSSQL database using ADO.NET. So far i used (for much smaller tables) a DataAdapter to read the data out of the Oracle DataBase and add the DataTable to a DataSet for further processing. When i tried this with my huge table, there was a outofmemory exception thrown. ( I assume this is because i cannot load the whole table into my memory) :) Now i am looking for a good way to perform this extract/transfer/load, without storing the whole table in the memory. I would like to use a DataReader and read the single dataRecords in a DataTable. If there are about 100k rows in it, I would like to process them and clear the DataTable afterwards(to have free memory again).     I'm trying to modify the fridge magnets example by adding a button that will reload the widget where the draggable labels are drawn, reflecting any changes made to the text file it reads. I think that it may be that JBoss first loads and runs the .war file of my application and only then it loads the oracle-ds.xml that contain my data-source definition. The problem is that they are both located in the same folder. Is there a way to define priority of loading them, or maybe this is not the problem at all. Any idea?

  • How to notify client about updated UpdatePanel content on server side

    I have a problem with UpdatePanel.Update() which works initially but then stops. I have tumbled with this problem for some time and some background is needed so please read ahead. I have an ASP.net application in which I have a subpage that display computed information in graphs. Each graph is embedded in an UpdatePanel. The graph is a user control that uses the standard asp:Chart for display. My task is to enable this page with AJAX capabilities so the page is responsive during postbacks. When I access this page from another page, during the initial page rendering, I use a wait dialog for each graph and a pageload event on the client side. In the client event, a hidden button is clicked which a server event handles (the hidden button is inside an UpdatePanel so the postback is asynchronous). Each graph is computed and the UpdatePanels are in turn updated with the Chart content. This is done using UpdatePanel.Update. And it is successful. However, I also have some RadioButtons on the page. These are dynamically created. The purpose of them is to switch graph type --- to show the same data in a different way. Same type of time consuming computation is needed in order to do so. I subscribe on each RadioButton's OnCheckedChanged event and the postback is asynchronous since the radiobuttons are inside an UpdatePanel. In the server event handler I determine the type of graph and use this as an input to the Chart control. I then remove the old Chart control from my Panel and adds new Chart and then I call UpdatePanel.Update(). But with no success. Nothing happens, no errors, nothing. Why is this?? I think this is strange because if I compute every Chart data in the initial rendering instead of using the "Wait dialog"-solution described earlier then I can select graph types successfully and all subsequent AJAX requests work as intended. Also, the same code (computing the chart, removal, and adding the Chart control to Panel and UpdatePanel.Update()) is hit during the initial rendering of the page, and it works only the first time.   • How do you get Microsoft Access 2007 32bit to show 64bit ODBC Drivers on Windows 7 64bit?

    I followed the advice here: Windows 7 64 bit odbc drivers for Ms Access Missing but it does not apply. I have Oracle drivers that are 64bit. If I click the ODBC mmc in my admin tools I can see the DSN. In my properties of the ODBC administrator, it appears to be pointing to the 64bit version of the ODBC administrator, which is good: %windir%\system32\odbcad32.exe If I use this version of the ODBC administrator, I can see the Oracle drivers and my DSN via the mmc. When I go to Microsoft Access 2007 (32bit), however, and click external data, ODBC, my 32bit ODBC administrator is opening, which does not have the driver. Can Access 2007 32bit use a 64bit driver to connect to a database (oracle in this case)? The driver works fine in all other applications, just not Access. How can I get Access to use the 64bit ODBC administrator? EDIT: For clarification, the problem is that Access is opening the 32bit version, the syswow64 version. I need it to open the native 64bit version, which it is not opening. The problem is that Microsoft Access keeps opening the 32bit version. I need it to open the 64bit version. The MMC of the ODBC administrator is pointing to the 64bit version, but Microsoft Access keeps opening the 32bit version. I need it to open the 64bit version. Thanks for help.

    I know that the preference for INI or appconfig XML is their human readability. Let's say user preferences stored for my app are hierarchical and numbers about a thousand items and it would be really confusing for a user to edit an INI to change things anyway. I have always been using a combination of INI with appconfig. I am leaning towards using sql server db file, now. Every time the user changes a preference while using the app, it would be stored into the db file - that's my line of thought. I am also thinking that such a config db file could move around with the app too, just like an INI. Before I do that, any advice 1. If there are any disadvantages against using a db file over INI or appconfig. 2. If a shop uses mysql or oracle, do you think your colleagues would lift up their pro-mysql or pro-oracle eyebrow questioning why you would use sql server technology in a mysql or oracle shop? I mean, I am just using it like an INI file or app.config anyway, right?

  • ASP.NET gridview control in side update panel has a problem

    Greetings, I have gridview with SelectedIndexChanged event. when I click on a record in gridview it should call the SelectedIndexChanged event and do some operations. SelectedIndexChanged event is working OK, but when I put the gridview inside ajax updatepanle SelectedIndexChanged event will not response even if I add AsyncPostBackTrigger trigger for SelectedIndexChanged event.
