What i was wondering, is there a simple way to do something like this? lines = open('something.txt', 'r').readlines() for line in lines: if line == '!': # force iteration forward twice line.next().next() <etc> Is there an easy way to do that in python?

    Since getting a satisfactory answer on SuperUser is very difficult, I want to rephrase this question and ask: Is there any way to programatically detect a mouse was plugged in the usb port, and change the cursor speed in windows (perhaps through an API)?     I've used a tool from Aspose (Aspose.PDF.kit) to generate a JPG thumbnail on the fly of a PDF for a .NET application. This works great, but what kind of other alternatives are there? Codeproject.com has this tutorial, but it requires you to have the full version of Acrobat. Is there an open source alternative that's geared for ASP.NET?

At the minute I have this: Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, People.CONTENT_URI); startActivity(intent); This displays the contact application with all the contacts displayed. But how do I get it to display just one contact according to the contacts name or number?

However, when I compile I get this error: c1xx : fatal error C1083: Cannot open source file: 'WIN32': No such file or directory Under project properties preprocessor definitions. I.e. only show the most popular MenuItems on first open, and show all MenuItems when the user explicitly asks for it, either by clicking on the double arrow at the bottom or waiting for a certain amount of time. If you are on Mac OS X 10.6, and you are familiar with character encoding AND the terminal please do this: Open a terminal and type the following commands: echo sørensen test.txt iconv -f UTF8 -t ISO-8859-1 test.txt You will see the output: "sørensen". Can somebody explain what is going on?

I can get the stp/cab file open and have added a new Element to the manifest.xml file, but when I repackage the stp and load it onto the server - the new site that I create using the updated .stp does not reflect the new link that I have added to the manifest.xml I realize this isn't the proper way to add a link to the sidebar but am interested to make it work this way, for other reasons.
