• Flex SDK 3.5 - Check file mimetype

  Is there a way to get a file's mimetype in Flex SDK 3.5 without using its extension? I need to validate if an uploaded file is of a certain kind. This is for images, or documents (PDF, ODT, etc.) All the solutions I've found are by checking its extension. What if I rename a .odt file as a .jpg? Then I can upload it as an image... I should add, we are using an AIR desktop client and a Java EE server. File checking is solved on the Java side, but the idea is not to go to the server, validate the file so if it's not valid, there's no network traffic at all.

• Windows Phone7 Development: Selecting target SDK(OS) version

  I am a bit confusing in selecting the target version in Windows phone7 Application development. In my Windows phone7 app I need to use a light weight relational DB Which didn't introduce with version 7.0 but SQL CE with 7.1 version. The problem is if I select the target version as 7.1, then the devices which came up with windows phone7 OS 7.0 will not be able to install this. But I heard that all the devices that came with windows phone7 OS version 7.0 is upgradable for windows OS version 7.1 for free. If this is the case then if I select the development SDK version as 7.1, then will all the windows phone7 devices be able to install this? Like to know which will be the best Target version in this case to select, before I start developing. Any guidance/ Idea is highly appreciated. Thanks...

• My app crashes on Iphone SDK 3.2

  Hi Guys, My app worked ok on iPhone SDK 3.1. However, when I try to run it in 3.2 simulator, I get the following error and it crashes: bool _WebTryThreadLock(bool), 0x5148280: Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Crashing now... Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_ACCESS”. When I debug it, it leads me to this peace of code: - (void)LoginViewToCheckView:(id)sender { CheckViewController *tempTestController = [[CheckViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; [tempTestController setDelegate:self]; [self setCheckViewController: tempTestController]; [tempTestController release]; [navigationController pushViewController:checkViewController animated:YES];} Other thing worth mentioning is maybe that I am calling this function from a separate thread. Any ideas what could be wrong?

I understand very well that everyone starting with that SDK is too exited about getting its hand on it but a few reading would save them hours of debugging and the frustration that come along with the feeling that "We miss something here". I'd like experience users to share the few small articles, white papers, docs, book chapters that helps other save their time and avoid frustration. My first vote would be for : IOS Memory Management Guide View Controller Programming Guide Table View Guide And as a General recommendation, read the Overview section that come along with every class documention in the reference library, they contains most of what you need to know to avoid big traps !

Even though the installation process has been described a number of times, but still I haven't found the information to solve the problem. • Extendable accessing of sqlite database on android platform

  Hi, I am fairly new to the android sdk and databases and have been searching for an answer to this quite some time. I am trying to build an app which has multiple tables within a database. e.g. one for weapons, armours etc. However, my DatabaseManager class which handles all of my table creating, DatabaseHelper inner class and populating of data is creating for an extremely large class requiring high maintenance. Every time I would like to add or remove a table column I need to change quite a few areas of code, - Every reference to the addition of a row in that table with data - The method that the above calls - The method returning all of the database rows - The code in the helper class creating the table - Any specific update methods My question is this: Surely there must be some better way of coding this system, maybe using a database isn't the best way to go, or am i just not used to such large classes having only learned java at university and my largest class consisting of a mere 400-600 lines of code. • Converting VS 2008 template to VS 2010 template

  I've got a project template that works for Visual studio 2008 but when I try to use it for visual studio 2010 I get "...The imported project "C:\program files (x86)\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v9.0\VSSDK\Microsoft.VsSDK.targets" was not found. The only thing I get from that is that it's looking for something in the 2008 SDK (which I have not installed but I would like to port the template to work with the VS 2010 SDK) ANy ideas on what I need to do to get the template working with the 2010 version?

I am able to load my test program onto the android emulator but when the log4j object "PropertySetter" is called the program fails with a verification exception.   Hi , i create a provision and developer identity.certificate with apple provision assistant and i have huge problem , everything done , but when i add my certificate into KeyChain , the certificate add , but doesn't show on the Keys and my Certificate :( and xcode Organizer says a valid signing identity matching this profile could not be found in your keychain and compiler : Code Sign error: The identity 'iPhone Developer' doesn't match any valid certificate/private key pair in the default keychain i didn't have this problem on the leopard with sdk 3.1 my current os is 10.6.2 SDK 3.1.3 what's the problem ?

  The function SaveVideoAtPathToSavedPhotosAlbum is only available with the iPhone SDK 3.1 or above but we want to maintain backward compatibility with 3.0 devices. How can this be done? At first we though we can do a runtime check, but it turns out that this can't even compile against the 3.0 SDK.   I've just setup a Google Analytics for Mobile Apps account and I've implemented the SDK in my iPhone app with no trouble at all. However, I haven't figured out how to manage multiple apps with one account. It seems fairly easy to setup multiple subdomains when dealing with websites and I've noticed the javascript code has a setSubdomain function that doesn't seem to be present in the iPhone SDK. Is there any way I can have google analytics differentiate my different apps for the same account?

  I'm using MapKit in an iPad app with the Base SDK set to iOS 4.2 in Xcode 3.2.5. When I run the app in the iPad Simulator 4.2, the app works fine. When I run it in the iPad Simulator 3.2, it crashes on startup with the following error: ERROR: unable to load AX Bundle: /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.2.sdk/System/Library/AccessibilityBundles/MapKitFramework.axbundle What am I doing wrong?

  With the recent changes in the SDK agreement, I am kinda confused if I'm able to put any type of analytics into my app. I don't want to do anything nefarious, just want to see which functionality of my app is getting used the most.   Hello, I am using the Xcode 3.1.4 that means SDK 3.1.2 The problem is that I cannot open .xcdatamodel (Core Data) file and I don't even get the Data Model option in Design Menu bar. When ever I double click and try to open the file, XCode gives me an error saying that it cannot find the file at (my project's path).Perhaps it was moved or deleted? , but the file exists at the same path.
