  • Extending the User model with custom fields in Django

    - by Gaurav
I am trying to extend the User model so that I can add my own custom fields but I keep getting an error stating: 'NoneType' object has no attribute '_default_manager' whenever I try to use user.get_profile() to add values to the custom field i.e. whenever I use it like so: user = User.objects.create_user(username, email, password) user.first_name = fname user.last_name = lname user.save() uinfo = user.get_profile() uinfo.timezone = "Asia/Pune" uinfo.save() I have already followed the steps given at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/44109/extending-the-user-model-with-custom-fields-in-django/965883#965883 with no luck.

  • What the best way to wire up Entity Framework database context (model) to ViewModel in MVVM WPF?

    - by hal9k2
As in the question above: What the best way to wire up Entity Framework database model (context) to viewModel in MVVM (WPF)? I am learning MVVM pattern in WPF, alot of examples shows how to implement model to viewModel, but models in that examples are just simple classes, I want to use MVVM together with entity framework model (base first approach). Whats the best way to wire model to viewModel. Thanks for answers. //ctor of ViewModel public ViewModel() { db = new PackageShipmentDBEntities(); // Entity Framework generated class ListaZBazy = new ObservableCollection<Pack>(db.Packs.Where(w => w.IsSent == false)); } This is my usual ctor of ViewModel, think there is a better way, I was reading about repository pattern, not sure if I can adapt this to WPF MVVM

  • Triangle count for model is doubled during render

    - by zarawesome
I am working with the Trinigy 3d engine, and it reports models to have twice as many triangles during render than it does in the model display (let's say 4000 instead of 2000). If I render the model with an additional outline shader, it reports 6000 triangles, so it's not a simple duplication. What could be the problem?

  • How to model a many to many from a DDD perspective in UML?

    - by JD01
I have a two entity objects Site and Customer where there is a many to many relationship. I have read you try not to model this in DDD as it is in the data model and go for a unidirectional flow. If I wanted to show this in UML, would I show it as it is in the data model: Site * ----->*Customer but the direction arrow gives the flow? or as following Site ----->*Customer But then this would imply that Customer can only go in one site.

  • Spinning a 3D model in C#

    - by icemanind
How do I take a 3D model that I created in 3D Studio Max and put it into my Winform C# program and make it spin? I'd prefer not to use DirectX if possible. I don't want anything complex. I simply want my model to rotate along the X axis. Thats it. Thanks

  • MVC Entity Framework Model not returning correct data

    - by quagland
Hi, Run into a strange problem while writing an ASP.NET MVC site. I have a view in my SQL Server database that returns a few date ranges. The view works fine when running the query in SSMS. When the view data is returned by the Entity Framework Model, It returns the correct number of rows but some of the rows are duplicated. Here is an example of what I have done: SQL Server code: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[A]( [ID] [int] NOT NULL, [PhID] [int] NULL, [FromDate] [datetime] NULL, [ToDate] [datetime] NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_A] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ([ID] ASC)) ON [PRIMARY] go CREATE TABLE [dbo].[B]( [PhID] [int] NOT NULL, [FromDate] [datetime] NULL, [ToDate] [datetime] NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_B] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [PhID] ASC )) ON [PRIMARY] go CREATE VIEW C as SELECT A.ID, CASE WHEN A.PhID IS NULL THEN A.FromDate ELSE B.FromDate END AS FromDate, CASE WHEN A.PhID IS NULL THEN A.ToDate ELSE B.ToDate END AS ToDate FROM A LEFT OUTER JOIN B ON A.PhID = B.PhID go INSERT INTO B (PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (100, '20100615', '20100715') INSERT INTO A (ID, PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (1, NULL, '20100101', '20100201') INSERT INTO A (ID, PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (1, 100, '20100615', '20100715') INSERT INTO B (PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (101, '20101201', '20101231') INSERT INTO A (ID, PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (2, NULL, '20100801', '20100901') INSERT INTO A (ID, PhID, FromDate, ToDate) VALUES (2, 101, '20101201', '20101231') So now, if you select all from C, you get 4 separate date ranges In the Entity Framework Model (which I call 'Core'), the view 'C' is added. in MVC Controller: public class HomeController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { CoreEntities db = new CoreEntities(); var clist = from c in db.C select c; return View(clist.ToList()); } } in MVC View: @model List<RM.Models.C> @{ foreach (RM.Models.C c in Model) { @String.Format("{0:dd-MMM-yyyy}", c.FromDate) <span>-</span> @String.Format("{0:dd-MMM-yyyy}", c.ToDate) <br /> } } When I run all this, it outputs this: 01-Jan-2010 - 01-Feb-2010 01-Jan-2010 - 01-Feb-2010 01-Aug-2010 - 01-Sep-2010 01-Aug-2010 - 01-Sep-2010 When it should do this (this is what the view returns): 01-Jan-2010 - 01-Feb-2010 15-Jun-2010 - 15-Jul-2010 01-Aug-2010 - 01-Sep-2010 01-Dec-2010 - 31-Dec-2010 Also, I've run the SQL profiler over it and according to that, the query being executed is: SELECT [Extent1].[ID] AS [ID], [Extent1].[FromDate] AS [FromDate], [Extent1].[ToDate] AS [ToDate] FROM (SELECT [C].[ID] AS [ID], [C].[FromDate] AS [FromDate], [C].[ToDate] AS [ToDate] FROM [dbo].[C] AS [C]) AS [Extent1] Which returns the correct data So it seems that the entity framework is doing something to the data in the meantime. To me, everything looks fine! Have I missed something? Cheers, Ben

  • R: Forecast package: Automatic algorithm for composite model involving ETS and AR

    - by phanikishan
Hey, I would like to write a code involving automatic selection of a best composite model using ETS as well as autoregressive models. What is the criteria I should base my selection on? Also if I'm using the auto.arima function for deducing number of AR terms and corresponding coefficients from the forecast package in R, does my input series necessarily have to be stationary? or the value for d would be automatically selected thus returning a non-stationary model? Thanks, Phani

  • Child control view model event

    - by Jmsparing
Hi, I seem to have got stuck in a situation where I have a parent and child usercontrol. I want to be able to raise an event in the child and have the parent handle this event. How do I trigger the event in my child view model and handle it in the parent view model. If anybody has a simple example that would be really good. Thanks very much.

  • Rails - Find Condition of two model fields

    - by ChrisWesAllen
I'm trying to find the results of a model where it queries as the result of two conditions. I have a search tag that looks for Model.find(:all, :conditions => "name LIKE params[search]") but I'd like for the search to find all records where "name LIKE params[search] or description LIKE params[search] . Is there any way to add an OR into a condition in rails? or should I make an if statement?

  • Linking two models in a multi-model form

    - by Elliot
    Hey Guys, I have a nested multimodel form right now, using Users and Profiles. Users has_one profile, and Profile belongs_to Users. When the form is submitted, a new user is created, and a new profile is created, but they are not linked (this is the first obvious issue). The user's model has a profile_id row, and the profile's model has a user_id row. Here is the code for the form: <%= form_for(@user, :url => teams_path) do |f| %> <p><%= f.label :email %><br /> <%= f.text_field :email %></p> <p><%= f.label :password %><br /> <%= f.password_field :password %></p> <p><%= f.label :password_confirmation %><br /> <%= f.password_field :password_confirmation %></p> <%= f.hidden_field :role_id, :value => @role.id %></p> <%= f.hidden_field :company_id, :value => current_user.company_id %></p> <%= fields_for @user.profile do |profile_fields| %> <div class="field"> <%= profile_fields.label :first_name %><br /> <%= profile_fields.text_field :first_name %> </div> <div class="field"> <%= profile_fields.label :last_name %><br /> <%= profile_fields.text_field :last_name %> </div> <% end %> <p><%= f.submit "Sign up" %></p> <% end %> A second issue, is even though the username, and password are successfully created through the form for the user model, the hidden fields (role_id & company_id - which are also links to other models) are not created (even though they are part of the model) - the values are successfully shown in the HTML for those fields however. Any help would be great!

  • Retain a list of objects and pass it to the create/edit view when validation fails in ASP.NET MVC 2

    - by brainnovative
I am binding a Foreign key property in my model. I am passing a list of possible values for that property in my model. The model looks something like this: public class UserModel { public bool Email { get; set; } public bool Name { get; set; } public RoleModel Role { get; set; } public IList<RoleModel> Roles { get; set; } } public class RoleModel { public string RoleName { get; set; } } This is what I have in the controller: public ActionResult Create() { IList<RoleModel> roles = RoleModel.FromArray(_userService.GetAllRoles()); UserModel model = new UserModel() { Roles = roles }; return View(model); } In the view I have: <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Role) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.Role, new SelectList(Model.Roles, "RoleName", "RoleName", Model.Role))%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Role)%> </div> What do I need to do to get the list of roles back to my controller to pass it again to the view when validation fails. This is what I need: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Create(UserModel model) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { // insert logic here } //the validation fails so I pass the model again to the view for user to update data but model.Roles is null :( return View(model); } As written in the comments above I need to pass the model with the list of roles again to my view but model.Roles is null. Currently I ask the service again for the roles (model.Roles = RoleModel.FromArray(_userService.GetAllRoles());) but I don't want to add an extra overhead of getting the list from DB when I have already done that.. Anyone knows how to do it?

  • Need advice with a model - should I choose has_many through

    - by Martin Petrov
I have something like a blog with posts and tags. I want to add email notification functionality - users can subscribe to one or more tags and receive email notifications when new posts are added. Currently I have a Tag model. There will be a Subscriber model (containing the user's email) Do you think I also need a Subscription table where Subscriber and Tag are joined? .. or I can skip it and directly link Subscriber with Tag?

  • Automark model names/attributes for translation

    - by Saosin
Is there any way one could automatically mark all model names and attributes for translation, without specifying verbose_name/_plural on each one of them? Doesn't feel very DRY to do this every time: class Profile(models.Model): length = models.IntegerField(_('length')) weight = models.IntegerField(_('weight')) favorite_movies = models.CharField(_('favorite movies'), max_length=100) favorite_quote = models.CharField(_('favorite quote'), max_length=30) religious_views = models.CharField(_('religious views'), max_length=30) political_views = models.CharField(_('political views'), max_length=30) class Meta: verbose_name = _('profile') verbose_name_plural = _('profiles')

  • DRY way of calling a method in every rails model

    - by Tim
Along the same lines as this question, I want to call acts_as_reportable inside every model so I can do one-off manual reports in the console in my dev environment (with a dump of the production data). What's the best way to do this? Putting acts_as_reportable if ENV['RAILS_ENV'] == "development" in every model is getting tedious and isn't very DRY at all. Everyone says monkey patching is the devil, but a mixin seems overkill. Thanks!

  • Transforming OLTP Relational Database to Data Warehousing Model

    - by Russ Cam
What are the common design approaches taken in loading data from a typical Entity-Relationship OLTP database model into a Kimball star schema Data Warehouse/Marts model? Do you use a staging area to perform the transformation and then load into the warehouse? How do you link data between the warehouse and the OLTP database? Where/How do you manage the transformation process - in the database as sprocs, dts/ssis packages, or SQL from application code?

  • Backbone: Easiest way to maintain reference to 'this' for a Model inside callbacks

    - by Garrett
var JavascriptHelper = Backbone.Model.extend("JavascriptHelper", {}, // never initialized as an instance { myFn: function() { $('.selector').live('click', function() { this.anotherFn(); // FAIL! }); }, anotherFn: function() { alert('This is never called from myFn()'); } } ); The usual _.bindAll(this, ...) approach won't work here because I am never initializing this model as an instance. Any ideas? Thanks.
