  • .NET Generate email text in Outlook from Word

    I am attempting to generate the body of an email in Outlook 2007 from the text of a Word 2007 document in VB. I have access to both the Word and Outlook object libraries, and I can read from the Word document to get a string and write it to Outlook, but I need to keep the formatting from the Word document intact. The purpose will be to allow users to edit the word document and always have the emails my program generates be in sync with the document. Does anyone know how to do this?

  • Is there a way to sort by more than one field in Crystal Reports?

    I'm using Crystal Report with VB.NET in Visual Studio 2005. I have report that works if I pass in a list of List(Of Stuff). I had been sorting the report by one of the members of Stuff but a need now to sort first by one member, like Stuff.StatusCode and then by another member, like Stuff.ItemNumber. Can I do this just be having more than one SortField member, or do I need to do it some other way? Thanks as always!

    I am serializing a generic dictionary in VB.net and I am very surprised that it is about 1.3kb with a single item. Am I doing something wrong, or is there something else I should be doing? I have a large number of dictionaries and it is killing me to send them all across the wire.   • Unable to add PageFunction to my project.

    I add to my project a PageFunction and I get a dozen of the following error and the project won't compile: 'ResourceDictionary' root element is a generic type and requires a x:Class attribute to support the x:TypeArguments attribute specified on the root element tag. Basically I get an error for each DataTemplate I merge in the ResourceDictionary, has anyone encoutered this problem before? Note: I use VB.NET 3.5 on VS 2010.

    I have a Database named CarsType.accdb there are four fields in the data base Item_Name, Item_Num, Item_Qty, Item_Cost. I am able to get the database to display my data in VisualBasic but I am not sure how to get the total cost to appear in my label (lblTotalCost). I prefer doing it in VB versus writing in my access program. All I am wanting to do it multiply item_qty * Item_Cost How would I go about doing that?

  • ASP.NET site errors output nothing on the page.

    OK, i have been doing some work modding a pre-compiled ASP.NET application (VB codebehind) but i have come across something i have never seen before. When ever theres an error on the loading of a page, the page outputs nothing (no error message, no error message, nothing at all) firefox displays this error: XML Parsing Error: no element found Location: http://site.local/Checkout.aspx Line Number 1, Column 1: Because there is no html output. Is there some sort of setting that im missing that makes IIS/ASP.NET function like this?

    Hi, This is a related to a previous question I have asked here, see the link below for a brief description as to why I am trying to do this. Regular expression from font to span (size and colour) and back (VB.NET) Basically I need a regex replace function (or if this can be done in pure VB then that's fine) to convert all ul tags in a string to textindent tags, with a different attribute value for the first textindent tag. For example: <ul> <li>This is some text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> <li> <ul> <li>This is some indented text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> </ul> </li> <li>More text!</li> <li> <ul> <li>This is some indented text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> </ul> </li> <li>More text!</li> </ul> Will become: <textformat indent="0"> <li>This is some text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> <li> <textformat indent="20"> <li>This is some indented text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> </textformat> </li> <li>More text!</li> <li> <textformat indent="20"> <li>This is some indented text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> </textformat> </li> <li>More text!</li> </textformat> Basically I want the first ul tag to have no indenting, but all nested ul tags to have an indent of 20.     I need to get the path (not the executable) where my application is running from: System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory() When I run the above statement with & "/images/image.jpg" on my local machine it works fine but when I install the application on another machine it says it cannot find the file and there is a lot of extra path information some.
