  I want to filter the selectable dates on a datepicker. I basically need to filter by work days - i.e. make holidays and weekends not selectable. I know you can specify dates using a function in the beforeShowDate: and you can also use $.datepicker.noWeekends. Question is: can you do both?

  I came across Google's Page Speed add-on for Firebug yesterday. The page about using efficient CSS selectors said to not use overqualified selectors, i.e. use #foo instead of div#foo. I thought the latter would be faster but Google's saying otherwise, and who am I to go against that? So that got me wondering if the same applied to jQuery selectors. This page I found the link to on SO says I should use $("div#foo"), which is what I was doing all along, since I thought that things would speed up by limiting the selector to match div elements only. But is it really better than writing $("#foo") like Google's saying for CSS selectors, or do CSS versus jQuery element matching work in different ways and I should stick with $("div#foo")?

• What jquery code or plugin would I use to update the position of an element?

  I am using a jquery plugin from [ FilamentGroup ] called DateRangePicker. I have a simple form with two text inputs for the start and end date that I bind the DateRangePicker to using this $('input.tbDate').daterangepicker({ dateFormat: 'mm/dd/yy', earliestDate: new Date(minDate), latestDate: new Date(maxDate), datepickerOptions: { changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, minDate: new Date(minDate), maxDate: new Date(maxDate) } }); I have a collapsible table above this form that when shown, moves the form and the elements that the daterangepicker plugin is bound to, down lower on the page, but the daterangepicker appears to keep the position from when it was actually created. What code could I put in the daterangepicker's onShow Callback to update its position to be next to the element is was initially bound to? Or is there some specific jquery method or plugin that I could chain to the daterangepicker plugin so that it will update its position correctly. This would come in handy for some other plugins that I use that don't seem to keep their position relative to other elements correctly either.

I noticed the the jQuery required validation has a depends option, but I couldn't get it to work with the remote call.

  Hello everybody, I've got a Problem: Here a part of my HTML: <div id="div_1"> Here Hover </div> <div id="div_2"> Here content to show </div> And here a part of my jQuery Script: jQuery('#div_2').hide(); jQuery('#div_1').onmouseover(function() { jQuery('#div_2').fadeIn(); }).onmouseout(function(){ jQuery('#div_2').fadeOut(); }); The Problem: If i hover on the div_1, the div_2 is shown, if i hover out, the div_2 is hidden, but: If i hover first on div_1 and then go over div_2, the div_2 is hidden fast. I've tried this with jQuery.addClass(); after mouseout in div_1, but nothing is changing. I dont want do make the second div in the first div... Is there another way with jQuery? Thx Ahmet

• Can jQuery animate() behave differently for specific elements within my selection?

  I have a selection of elements in a jQuery object. I want to animate their font sizes, but as I have both the headlines and various paragraphs in the selection, they should be animated slightly differently, as the headlines should end up with a larger font size than the paragraphs. I already have this information stored in the jQuery data cache. I can do that. But, not unless I use several calls to the animate function, one for each specific, slightly different animation, perhaps using event triggering or setTimeout() calls. Of course I want to avoid this, as it's damn ugly and an odd way around. Much prettier if it could be done internally, within the animation ... Any help would be much appreciated.

  I'm attempting to use 'jQuery Validate' on a form that requires an email address plus either all items of a shipping address completed or none at all. Using the sample provided by the solution to this question: jQuery Validate - “Either skip these fields, or fill at least X of them”, I have been able to successfully solve the validation of the address group. The problem, however, is that the logic for validating the email address field does not work. From debugging the Validate scripts, the "re-entrant" validation code triggered by calling 'fields.data('being_validated', true).valid();' in the linked example results in a reset of all previously validated errors (i.e. the email validation error is cleared). I have modified some existing samples, the first in which removes the offending line and the second with it included. • Can jQuery UI's Sortable handle complex selectors for the items option?

  I have list items in an unordered list that when double clicked, can be edited in place via a wysiwyg editor. $('ul.mtm_section').sortable({ disabled: true, distance: 10, items: '> li:not(:has(form))' }); My goal is to prevent the list item from being sorted while it is being edited - aka once a form element has been swapped in place of the contents. Unfortunately my selector for items is not working. Is sortable able to handle complex selectors like these? If not, are there other clever means to disable some items from being sortable, perhaps a callback function? I would prefer to rely on this sortable option, as the wysiwyg plugin is deeply nested with jEditable and as far as I know does not open up any events for me to hook into. • Prototype and jQuery concatenation failure

  I found something strange when trying to concatenate prototype and jQuery. It seems as though when concatenated, the $ jquery reference doesn't get overwritten by prototype. I've built two test cases to single this out, and it's failing in Chrome8 and FF 3.6. Test Case 1 - Without Concatenation jQuery and Prototype are loaded separately with different script tags. jQuery is loaded first, Prototype second. Test Case 2 - With Concatenation jQuery and Prototype are concatenated into a single file, and loaded with a single script tag. jQuery is first in the script, and prototype is added second. These should act identically, but the second test is throwing errors because the $ function in prototype doesn't overwrite the $ jquery reference. Did I set these up wrong, or are browsers rendering javascript differently when it's all in the same file?

  Why doesn't doesn't the second jQuery-UI dialog box title change when popped. The first dialog box I change the title of the box with using the following .attr("title", "Confirm") -- it change the title of the first box to 'Confirm', like it should have. Now when the second box pops up it should change the title to 'Message' since did the same thing for the second box -- .attr("title", "Message"). Right? But it doesnt. It keep the title from before. • Google CDN not gzipping jquery

  If I navigate here: http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.min.js I download 70k using Firefox 3.6.3 and I can confirm it is sending Accept-Encoding: gzip. If I use the Microsoft one: http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.min.js I download 30k (and it comes through as Content-Encoding: gzip) I am also experiencing this when using jquery 1.4.2 in regular sites eg jquery.com. Funily enough, stack overflow which references jquery 1.3.2 on the google cdn, is coming through gzipped. Why is this happening? Is it some kind of issue with google or am I missing something? I live in Melbourne, Australia.

• IE7 jQuery(document).ready() problem

  I have a page that works perfectly fine in Firefox, but is throwing an error in IE. I am loading jQuery dynamically (if it is not already loaded), and then doing some stuff in the jQuery(document).ready() block. However, IE throws the dreaded "Object expected" error when it hits the jQuery(document).ready() block. Again, this works perfectly fine in Firefox.   It seems to work ok but I don't know if this can be impoved on or not. I want to select any HTML tag that has a class of edit-text-NUM or edit-html-NUM and change the color of it.   Hi, I have worked on several projects with a lot of data tables. The tables had sorting, filtering and paging of course on server side and with help of the db (all databases has implemented sording, filtering -where and limit the returned results). When workig on real application there are a thousands of even a millions rows. But I have seen several JSF dagatable components. They implement pagination, sorting and filtering on client side!! According to me this is very silly. This technology is called enterprise and they sort the data on the client side with java script! I have not seen any good JSF data grid that has build in features for sorting, filtering and lazy loading on the server side. Why is that? Am I looking in wrong direction or really there in no build support for this. Lately I am testing primefaces and lazy loading datatable. It really works fine, but the table i can only lazy load. If you add sort and filter then the problems begin. Conclusion: Is there any datatable JSF component than can perform lazy load pagination, and filtering and sorting on server side. If I need to implement my own solution thanks to the teams that made client side sorting and filtering, they are useless. Regards

In particolar there are three classes: menus, submenus and submenuitems. The relationships about three classes are: one menu - to many submenus one submenu - to many submenuitems. All classes have a boolean attribute called "Active". Now, i want to filter all the Menus with the SubMenus active, and the SubMenus with the SubMenuItems active. I can make other changes in my own test page and those are reflected for other classes in the datepicker. So, I'm not having any kind of path issue to the .js or .css files. What am I missing here?
