When I try to send this object back over the WCF service I get the log output OnSerializing of Team called ENetLogic.ENetPerson.Model.FirstPartyPerson[] After this my unit test crashes with a System.ExecutionEngineException, which means the WCF service is not able to serialize the array. (maybe because it expected a IList<) So, my question is: Does anybody know why the type of my IList< is an array after deserializing and why I can't serialize my Team object any longer after that?   I am trying to use Linq2Sql to return all rows that contain values from a list of strings. The linq2sql class object has a string property that contains words separated by spaces. public class MyObject { public string MyProperty { get; set; } } Example MyProperty values are: MyObject1.MyProperty = "text1 text2 text3 text4" MyObject2.MyProperty = "text2" For example, using a string collection, I pass the below list var list = new List<>() { "text2", "text4" } This would return both items in my example above as they both contain "text2" value. • Copy a LinkedList that has a Random Pointer in it

  Hi, First of all this is not a homework, this is an interview question that I got from a company I attended today. You have a singly linked list with the Node structure as the following class Node{ int data; Node next; Node random; } You have a typical singly linked list of length n. The random pointer in each node in the linkedlist randomly points to some Node within the linked list. The Question is to create a copy of the linked list efficiently into a different LinkedList. I said that I will first calculate the Random pointer's position in the linked list and store it in an array. Then create a new linked list normally. Then iterate through the linked list by setting the random pointer where they belong by reading the values stored from the array. I know its a very brute force technique and the interviewer asked me to come up with a better solution but I couldnt. Please can someone answer this? I can explain if the question is not clear.

• How would I compare two Lists(Of <CustomClass>) in VB?

  I'm working on implementing the equality operator = for a custom class of mine. The class has one property, Value, which is itself a List(Of OtherClass), where OtherClass is yet another custom class in my project. I've already implemented the IComparer, IComparable, IEqualityComparer, and IEquatable interfaces, the operators =, <>, bool and not, and overriden Equals and GetHashCode for OtherClass. This should give me all the tools I need to compare these objects, and various tests comparing two singular instances of these objects so far checks out. However, I'm not sure how to approach this when they are in a List. I don't care about the list order. Given: Dim x As New List(Of OtherClass) From {New OtherClass("foo"), New OtherClass("bar"), New OtherClass("baz")} Dim y As New List(Of OtherClass) From {New OtherClass("baz"), New OtherClass("foo"), New OtherClass("bar")} Then (x = y).ToString should print out True. I need to compare the same (not distinct) set of objects in this list. The list shouldn't support dupes of OtherClass, but I'll have to figure out how to add that in later as an exception. Not interested in using LINQ. It looks nice, but in the few examples I've played with, adds a performance overhead in that bugs me. Loops are ugly, but they are fast :) A straight code answer is fine, but I'd like to understand the logic needed for such a comparison as well. I'm probably going to have to implement said logic more than a few times down the road.

• What else I must do allow my method to handle any type of objects

  So to allow any type object I must use generics in my code. I have rewrote this method to do so, but then when I create an object, for example Milk, it won't let me pass it to my method. Ether there's something wrong with my generic revision, or Milk object I created is not good. How should I pass my object correctly and add it to linked list?   I am trying to run a command line action in my Team Build (MSBuild). When I run it on the command line of the build machine it works fine. But when run in the build script I get a "exited with code 3". The context goes something like this. There are Ships and Missiles, for which Ships will use Missiles and interact with them A Container exists which will hold 'a list' of ships. One can apply a function over all elements in the Container (for_each) Ships and Missles can be created/destroyed at any time New objects automatically insert themselves into the proper container. • Javadoc through Ant task with {@inheritDoc} from J2SE classes

  I generate documentation for a project using an Ant task. In several places, I wanted to inherit documentation from the standard classes, so I used {@inheritDoc} which allowed me to see the Javadoc in Eclipse, but it wouldn't show up in the HTML files. The problem was that I hadn't included the unzipped src.zip (J2SE source) in the sourcepath. Having fixed that, I now get several hundred warnings about the use of Sun proprietary API in files like lib/jdk-src/java/lang/Class.java. Is there any way to suppress these warnings? It's hard to find relevant problems in this mess. A possible solution I thought of was to run the Javadoc task once without including the J2SE source in the sourcepath, which will reveal any real issues. Then I can run Javadoc a second time with the J2SE source included, discarding the output altogether, which will produce documentation with properly-working {@inheritDoc}s. I'm not entirely sure about the best way to accomplish this in Ant, not to mention that running Javadoc twice would be a dirty fix. Any suggestions?

  Hello, I have a list of dicts and I want to compare each dict in that list with a dict in a resulting list, add it to the result list if it's not there, and if it's there, update a counter associated with that dict. At first I wanted to use the solution described at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1692388/python-list-of-dict-if-exists-increment-a-dict-value-if-not-append-a-new-dict but I got an error where one dict can not be used as a key to another dict. So the data structure I opted for is a list where each entry is a dict and an int: r = [[{'src': '', 'dst': '', 'cmd': ''}, 0]] The original dataset (that should be compared to the resulting dataset) is a list of dicts: d1 = {'src': '192.168.0.1', 'dst': '192.168.0.2', 'cmd': 'cmd1'} d2 = {'src': '192.168.0.1', 'dst': '192.168.0.2', 'cmd': 'cmd2'} d3 = {'src': '192.168.0.2', 'dst': '192.168.0.1', 'cmd': 'cmd1'} d4 = {'src': '192.168.0.1', 'dst': '192.168.0.2', 'cmd': 'cmd1'} o = [d1, d2, d3, d4] The result should be: r = [[{'src': '192.168.0.1', 'dst': '192.168.0.2', 'cmd': 'cmd1'}, 2], [{'src': '192.168.0.1', 'dst': '192.168.0.2', 'cmd': 'cmd2'}, 1], [{'src': '192.168.0.2', 'dst': '192.168.0.1', 'cmd': 'cmd1'}, 1]] What is the best way to accomplish this?   Hello, I am relatively new to WCF. However, I need to create a service that exposes data to both Silverlight and AJAX client applications. • Php script running as scheduled task hangs - help!

  Hi guys, I've built a php script that runs from the command line. It opens a connection into a pop3 email account and downloads all the emails and writes them to a database, and deletes them once downloaded. I have this script being called from the commandline by a bat file. in turn I have created a scheduled task which invokes the bat file every 5 minutes. The thing is that I have set the time out to zero for the fact that at times there could be emails with large attachments and the script actually downloads the attachments and stores them as raw files offline and the no timeout is so that the script doesnt die out during downloading. I've found that the program hangs sometimes and its a bit annoying at that - it always hangs are one point i.e. when negotiating the connection and getting connected to the mail server. And because the timeout is set to zero it seems to stay stuck up in taht position. And because of that the task is not run as its technically hung up. I want that the program should not timeout when downloading emails - however at the points where it is negotiating a connection or trying to connect to the mailserver there should be a timeout only at that point itself and not the rest of the program execution. How do I do this :(

• MVC2 Modelbinder for List of derived objects

  I want a list of different (derived) object types working with the Default Modelbinder in Asp.net MVC 2. I have the following ViewModel: public class ItemFormModel { [Required(ErrorMessage = "Required Field")] public string Name { get; set; } public string Description { get; set; } [ScaffoldColumn(true)] //public List<Core.Object> Objects { get; set; } public ArrayList Objects { get; set; } } And the list contains objects of diffent derived types, e.g. public class TextObject : Core.Object { public string Text { get; set; } } public class BoolObject : Core.Object { public bool Value { get; set; } } It doesn't matter if I use the List or the ArrayList implementation, everything get's nicely scaffolded in the form, but the modelbinder doesn't resolve the derived object type properties for me when posting back to the ActionResult. What could be a good solution for the Viewmodel structure to get a list of different object types handled? Having an extra list for every object type (e.g. List, List etc.) seems to be not a good solution for me, since this is a lot of overhead both in building the viewmodel and mapping it back to the domain model. Thinking about the other approach of binding all properties in a custom model binder, how can I make use the data annotations approach here (validating required attributes etc.) without a lot of overhead?
