  • Spring MVC jQuery remote validation

    Hi, I am using Spring MVC on the server side, but in one of the pages I decided to create an AJAX validation with jQuery rather than the default Spring validation. Everything works great, except when I have to do a remote validation to check if a "title" already exists. For the javascript I have the following: var validator = $("form").validate({ rules: { title: { minlength: 6, required: true, remote: { url: location.href.substring(0,location.href.lastIndexOf('/'))+"/checkLocalArticleTitle.do", type: "GET" } }, html: { minlength: 50, required: true } }, messages: { title: { required: "A title is required.", remote: "This title already exists." } } }); Then, I use Spring-Json to make this validation and give a response: @RequestMapping("/checkLocalArticleTitle.do") public ModelAndView checkLocalArticleTitle(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { Map model = new HashMap(); String result = "FALSE"; try{ String title = request.getParameter("title"); if(!EJBRequester.articleExists(title)){ result = "TRUE"; } }catch(Exception e){ System.err.println("Exception: " + e.getMessage()); } model.put("result",result); return new ModelAndView("jsonView", model); } However, this does not work and the field "title" is never validated. I think the reason for this is that I am returning an answer in the manner: {result:"TRUE"} when in fact, the answer should be: {"TRUE"} I don't know how to return a single response like this one using a ModelAndView answer. Another thing that is not working is the customized message for the "remote" validation: messages: { title: { required: "A title is required.", remote: "This title already exists." } }, The required message works, but not the remote message. I looked around, but I didn't see many people using Spring and jQuery at the same time. I would appreciate some help here.

  • LINQ To SQL ignore unique constraint exception and continue

    I have a single table in a database called Users Users ------ ID (PK, Identity) Username (Unique Index) I have setup a unique index on the Username table to prevent duplicates. I am then enumerating through a collection and creating a new user in the database for each item. What I want to do is just insert a new user and ignore the exception if the unique key constraint is violated (as it's clearly a duplicate record in that case). This is to avoid having to craft where not exists kind of queries. First off, is this going to be any more efficient or should my insert code be checking for duplicates instead? I'm drawn more to the database having that logic as this prevents any other type of client from inserting duplicate data. My other issue is related to LINQ To SQL. I have the following code: public class TestRepo { DatabaseDataContext database = new DatabaseDataContext(); public void Add(string username) { database.Users.InsertOnSubmit(new User() { Username = username }); } public void Save() { database.SubmitChanges(); } } And then I iterate over a collection and insert new users, ignoring any exceptions: TestRepo repo = new TestRepo(); foreach (var name in new string[] { "Tim", "Bob", "John" }) { try { repo.Add(name); repo.Save(); } catch { } } The first time this is run, great I have three users in the table. If I remove the second one and run this code again, nothing is inserted. I expected the first insert to fail with the exception, the second to succeed (as I just removed that item from the DB) and the third to then fail. What seems to be happening is that once the SqlException is thrown (even though the loop continues to iterate) all of the next inserts fail - even when there isn't a row in the table that would cause a unique violation. Can anyone explain this? P.S. The only workaround I could find was to instantiate the repo each time before the insert, then it worked exactly as excepted - indicating that it's something to do with the LINQ To SQL DataContext.   • How to get friendly device name from DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE and Device Instance ID

    I've registered a window with RegisterDeviceNotification and can successfully recieve DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE messages. However, the dbcc_name field in the returned struct is always empty. The struct I have is defined as such: [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)] public struct DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE { public int dbcc_size; public int dbcc_devicetype; public int dbcc_reserved; public Guid dbcc_classguid; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr)] public string dbcc_name; } And I'm using Marshal.PtrToStructure on the LParam of the WM_DEVICECHANGE message. Should this be working? Or even better... Is there an alternative way to get the name of a device upon connection? EDIT (02/05/2010 20:56GMT): I found out how to get the dbcc_name field to populate by doing this: [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential, CharSet = CharSet.Auto)] public struct DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE { public int dbcc_size; public int dbcc_devicetype; public int dbcc_reserved; public Guid dbcc_classguid; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.ByValTStr, SizeConst=255)] public string dbcc_name; } but I still need a way to get a "Friendly" name from what is int dbcc_name. It looks like the following: \?\USB#VID_05AC&PID_1294&MI_00#0#{6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f} And I really just want it to say "Apple iPhone" (which is what the device is in this case).

  • Integrating Google Analytics into GWT application

    This should be totally simple but I can't get it working no matter what I try. I'm trying to use Google Analytics with GWT application. From what I understood, there are two way to do it: First is synchronous, by inserting tracking code at the end of <head> section HTML page and then calling this method: public static native void recordAnalyticsHit(String pageName) /*-{ pageTracker._trackPageview(pageName); }-*/; Second is asynchronous, by inserting tracking code just after <body> tag and then calling this method: public static native void recordAnalyticsHit(String pageName) /*-{ _gaq.push(['_trackPageview(' + pageName + ')']); }-*/; When running each of those methods, however, I get this exceptions in hosted mode: [ERROR] [myproject] Uncaught exception escaped com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (ReferenceError): pageTracker is not defined [ERROR] [myproject] Uncaught exception escaped com.google.gwt.core.client.JavaScriptException: (ReferenceError): _gaq is not defined When observing site in Firebug, I see that ga.js gets loaded, but that's about it. Did anyone get Analytics working with GWT? Also, does _gaq accept page name as trackPageview parameter, since all the examples I've seen use this call: _gaq.push(['_trackPageview()']); (Of course, that also doesn't work for me.)

    Hi, I'm all new to Android and I'm trying to create a spinner programmatically and feeding it with data from an array, but Eclipse gives me a warning that I can't handle. Here's what I got: This ArrayList holds the elements that should be in the spinner (gets filled from a file later on): ArrayList<String> spinnerArray = new ArrayList<String>(); This is code I found on a site which should create the spinner: Spinner spinner = new Spinner(this); ArrayAdapter spinnerArrayAdapter = new ArrayAdapter(this, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item, spinnerArray); spinner.setAdapter(spinnerArrayAdapter); Now the second line (ArrayAdapter...) gives me a warning in Eclipse saying "ArrayAdapter is a raw type... References to generic type ArrayAdapter<T> should be parameterized", I have no idea how to fix this (or what that means in the first place :) ). It's just a warning and the App seems to run alright, but I'd still like to understand what's wrong and fix it. Any hint is appreciated. Greetings, Select0r

  • OAuth with Google Reader API using Objective C

    I'm using the gdata OAuth controllers to get an OAuth token and then signing my requests as instructed. [auth authorizeRequest:myNSURLMutableRequest] It works great for GET requests but POSTs are failing with 401 errors. I knew I wouldn't be able to remain blissfully ignorant of the OAuth magic. The Google Reader API requires parameters in the POST body. OAuth requires those parameters to be encoded in the signature like they were on the query string. It doesn't appear the gdata library does this. I tried hacking it in the same way it handles the query string but no luck. This is so difficult to debug as all I get is a 401 from the Google black box and I'm left to guess. I really want to use OAuth so I don't have to collect login credentials from my users but I'm about to scrap it and go with the simpler cookie based authentication that is more mature. It's possible I'm completely wrong about the reason it's failing. This is my best guess. Any suggestions for getting gdata to work or maybe an alternative iphone friendly OAuth library?

Now Date is an abject of type DateTime of C# environment, the DB doesnt store it(somewhere in SQLite forum, it was written that ADO.NET wrapper automatically converts DateTime type to ISO1806 format) But instead of this.Date when I use sDate (shown in the first line) then it stores properly. My probem actually doesnt end here. Even if I use "sDate", I have to retrieve it through a query. And that is creating the problem Any query of this format SELECT * FROM <Table_Name> WHERE DATES = "YYYY-MM-DD" returns nothing, whereas replacing '=' with '' or '<' returns right results. So my point is: How do I query for Date variables from SQLite Database. And if there is a problem with the way I stored it (i.e non 1806 compliant), then how do I make it compliant

    Hello, I have a controller that is being called twice from an ActionLink call. My home page has a link, that when clicked calls the Index method on the Play controller. An id of 100 is passed into the method. I think this is what is causing the issue. More on this below. This project was started as a 3.5 and upgraded to 4.0. When I try to test any of the methods I get the error that I posted in the subject line.     I did a few tests with TouchJSON last night and it worked pretty well in general for simple cases. I'm using the following code to read some JSON content from a file, and deserialize it: NSString *jsonString = [[NSString alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:@"data.json"]; NSData *jsonData = [jsonString dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF32BigEndianStringEncoding]; NSError *error = nil; NSDictionary *items = [[CJSONDeserializer deserializer] deserializeAsDictionary:jsonData error:&error]; NSLog(@"total items: %d", [items count]); NSLog(@"error: %@", [error localizedDescription]); That works fine if I have a very simple JSON object in the file (i.e. a dictionary): {"id": "54354", "name": "boohoo"} This way I was able to get access to the array of values, as I wanted to get the item based on its index within the list: NSArray *items_list = [items allValues]; NSString *name = [items_list objectAtIndex:1]; (I understand that I could have fetched the name with the dictionary API) Now I would like to deserialize a semi-complex JSON string, which represents an array of dictionaries. An example of such a JSON string is below: [{"id": "123456", "name": "touchjson"}, {"id": "3456", "name": "bleh"}] When I try to run the same code above against this new content in the data.json file, I don't get any results back. My NSLog() call says "total items: 0", and no error is coming back in the NSError object. Any clues on what is going on? I'm completely lost on what to do, as there isn't much documentation available for TouchJSON, and much less usage examples.

We use custom controls we wrote using JSF 1.1 in our applications. Original HTML string (288 characters): $content = "<div>With a <span class='spanClass'>span over here</span> and a <div class='divClass'>nested div over <div class='nestedDivClass'>there</div> </div> and a lot of other nested <strong><em>texts</em> and tags in the air <span>everywhere</span>, it's a HTML taggy kind of day.</strong></div>"; When trimming to 100 characters HTML breaks and stripped content comes to about 40 characters: $content = substr($content, 0, 100)."..."; /* output: <div>With a <span class='spanClass'>span over here</span> and a <div class='divClass'>nested div ove... */ Stripping HTML gives the correct character count but obviously looses formatting: $content = substr(strip_tags($content)), 0, 100)."..."; /* output: With a span over here and a nested div over there and a lot of other nested texts and tags in the ai... */ Challenge: To output the character count of strip_tags while retaining HTML formatting and on closing the string finish any started tags: /* <div>With a <span class='spanClass'>span over here</span> and a <div class='divClass'>nested div over <div class='nestedDivClass'>there</div> </div> and a lot of other nested <strong><em>texts</em> and tags in the ai</strong></div>..."; Similar question (less strict on solution provided so far)

    OK, so I have this control with two properties. One of these is a DependencyProperty, the other is an "alias" to the first one. What I need to be able to do is raise the PropertyChanged event for the second one (the alias) when the first one is changed.   • dojo.xhrPost and Zend Framwork action, no POST data, not using a form

    Hi all, I'm trying to send some data via dojo.xhrPost to an Zend Controller Action. I can see the data being sent in Firebug console. However, when inspecting the post data, the array is empty. I'm not sure if it is possible to send an arbitrary string of data via dojo.xhrPost without using a form. This is probably a very n00b mistake. In any case, I'll post my code here and see what you all think. In my layout script I have: <?php $sizeurl = $this->baseUrl() . When looking at the dojo.xhrPost examples on the dojo campus web site (http://docs.dojocampus.org/dojo/xhrPost second one to be precise), it looks as if I can just send a string of data. How do I access this data from a Zend Controller Action? I'm using ZF 1.10 and Dojo 1.4.2 Thanks for your help! PS I'd try to ask on one of the related questions, but I cannot seem to comment.
