  • On-demand RHEL/Centos Linux admin and MySQL admin

    - by user1322092
Could you share with me a few reputable businesses/websites where I can quickly onboard a RHEL/Centos Linux admin or even a MySQL admins (say if I need help with disaster recovery). I have a cloud server, and I would like to task an admin to perform specific maintenance or even periodic. With the abundance of solely-run cloud servers, I would imagine there's a demand for this type of service (certainly for me).

  • Tomcat cannot connect to MySQL on localhost

    - by David
Hi, I have deployed an application on my Tomcat server with JDBC resources defined. What is puzzling me is that I can connect to the database (which is running locally on the server) only using the server's IP. When I change the resource host to localhost (or 127.0.0.1) then MySQL rejects the connection. I don't want to be connection via the server's IP but rather locally. What do I do? Thanks!

  • Is this a HPC or HA mySQL cluster?

    - by Louise Hoffman
Can someone tell me if this is a High Performance Compute or High Available mySQL cluster? There is a picture of the setup. This is part of the config.ini they talk about [ndbd default] NoOfReplicas=2 # Number of replicas Is it correct understood that NoOfReplicas determines if I have a HPC or a HA cluster?

  • Are these mySQL user settings vulnerable?

    - by Kavon Farvardin
I'm using myphpadmin to manage the databases and I'm new to SQL in general. Am I suppose to keep an open anonymous user on localhost so things like drupal can access mySQL? It seems like having a non-passworded root on my server's hostname is retarded but I don't know what I'm doing with this in general. The user who's name starts with a b is the one I use to login and do things like make a database.

  • MySQL 5.1.34 on NFS w/NetApp

    - by shrisha
Is this still a bad idea? I know older versions of MySQL performed poorly with NFS. I imagine the issue lies with the usage of fsnc() and/or O_DIRECT. If the issues are mostly resolved, are there common pitfalls/gotchas, specifically around a large (multiple tables with tens of millions of records) InnoDB database that may see up to 20-50 reads/sec

  • MySQL keeps adding additional user without rights from specific IP

    - by Niels B.
I'm running MySQL Server 5.5.29 on Ubuntu Server 13.04 I have a created a user with a wildcard host access % and given him various privileges. However, whenever this user connects from 194.182.245.61, a new user account is created for that specific IP address with no rights and he is unable to exercise his privileges. When he connects from other internet connections, such as his home IP, it works just as it should. Why does this happen and how can I stop it from happening?

  • Graphical MySQL tools

    - by Shlomo Shmai
Are there any good graphical tools (preferably free) for navigating a MySQL database? I find myself doing a lot of the same SQL queries to look at data in the tables. I would imagine there's a GUI for doing this that makes life easier. Any one know of such a thing? Thanks a lot.

  • Phpmyadmin mysql foreign key problem

    - by alan
Hey guys i'm using phpmyadmin (php & mysql) and i'm having alot of trouble linking the tables using foreign keys. I'm getting negative values for the field countyId (which is the foriegn key). However it is linking to my other table fine and it's cascading fine. So when I go to add data there will be a drop box for the CountyId and the values will look something like this, " -1 1- " Here is my alter statement, ALTER TABLE Baronies ADD FOREIGN KEY (CountyId) REFERENCES Counties (CountyId) ON DELETE CASCADE

  • Changing the character encoding of a MySQL database

    - by Julien Genestoux
Our whole application is now able to handle UTF-8 and it will be our choice in terms of encoding all across our architecture. The last step is to change the encoding of our MySQL databases. Of course, ALTER TABLE db_table CONVERT TO CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci; should be able to convert each of the tables to the right UTF8 encoding, yet, is there anything else I should do? I believe that the my.cnf configuration file needs to be changed as well.

  • Where Are Databases Located - MySQL File Location

    - by nicorellius
I just installed a CRM application with a MySQL database. I thought I new the name of the database but I can't find it. Now I am trying to perform a mysqldump but I don't know the name of my database or where it's located. Most docs I read assume the admin knows where this database is located and thee name of it - I should know this, I know.

  • Upload database backup from mysql to Amazon S3 or Glacier without creating local file

    - by Rubem Azenha
Is there a tool that makes possible to backup a Mysql database to Amazon S3 or Amazon Glacier without having o create a local file with the database contents? Something like that: mysqldump -u root -ppass -h host --all-databases | magical-s3-tool s3-bucket backup-yyyy-mm-dd.sql This magical tool would use the pipe data and transfer the backup data directly to S3, without creating a local file.
