  • cant show MBProgressHUD

    - by dejoong
    In here said that using MBProgressHUD is easy. But i cant make it. Here my code: - (IBAction)save{ HUD = [[MBProgressHUD alloc] initWithView:self.navigationController.view]; [self.navigationController.view addSubview:HUD]; HUD.delegate = self; [HUD show:YES]; NSString *title = [page stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"document.title"]; SavePageAs *savePage = [[SavePageAs alloc] initWithUrl:self.site directory:title]; [savePage save]; [HUD hide:YES]; } the progress indicator not show during [savePage save] method run, but show after the page completely saved (the indicator show for less than 1 second). I also tried this way: - (IBAction)save { HUD = [[MBProgressHUD alloc] initWithView:self.navigationController.view]; [self.navigationController.view addSubview:HUD]; HUD.delegate = self; HUD.labelText = @"Saving..."; [HUD showWhileExecuting:@selector(performFetchOnMainThread) onTarget:self withObject:nil animated:YES]; } - (void) savingPage{ NSString *title = [page stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"document.title"]; SavePageAs *savePage = [[SavePageAs alloc] initWithUrl:self.site directory:title]; [savePage save]; } -(void) performFetchOnMainThread { [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(savingPage) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:YES]; } but still no luck. Anyone let me know where im lack here?? P.S [savePage save] is saving all website contents to local directory. I wish once the saving is complete the progressHUD disappear. Thanks

  • Interface Builder: Resize View From NIB

    - by alexey
    I have a custom UIViewController and a corresponding view in a nib file. The view is added to the UIWindow directly. [window addSubview:customViewController.view]; Sizes of the window and the view are default (480x320 and 460x320 correspondingly). When I create CustomViewController inside the nib file and check "Resize View From NIB" in IB Attributes tab everything works just fine. But when I create CustomViewController programmmatically with initWithNibName message the view is not positioned on the window correctly. There is an empty stripe at the bottom. Its height is 20px. I see it's because of status bar offset. IB handles that with "Resize View From NIB". How to emulate that programmatically? It seems that IB uses some custom subclass of UIViewController. So the question: how is "Resize View From NIB" implemented there?

  • Issue with CGEventTapCreate() call.

    - by Dheeraj
    Hi All, I'm trying to register for global key events using this code : void function() { CFMachPortRef keyUpEventTap = CGEventTapCreate(kCGHIDEventTap,kCGHeadInsertEventTap,kCGEventTapOptionListenOnly,CGEventMaskBit(kCGEventKeyUp),&keyUpCallback,NULL); CFRunLoopSourceRef keyUpRunLoopSourceRef = CFMachPortCreateRunLoopSource(NULL, keyUpEventTap, 0); CFRelease(keyUpEventTap); CFRunLoopAddSource(CFRunLoopGetCurrent(), keyUpRunLoopSourceRef, kCFRunLoopDefaultMode); CFRelease(keyUpRunLoopSourceRef); } The application crashes while executing CFMachPortCreateRunLoopSource() call. I think the crash is because of CGEventMaskBit(kCGEventKeyUp) when I create an event tap. But if I create event tap using CGEventTapCreate(kCGHIDEventTap,kCGHeadInsertEventTap,kCGEventTapOptionListenOnly,CGEventMaskBit(kCGEventFlagsChanged),&keyUpCallback,NULL), the application works fine. It does not crash. I'm getting callbacks when any modifier key is pressed. But I need to get callbacks for delete key pressed. Any ideas? Thanks, Dheeraj.

  • NSURL Connection will/won't load data

    - by jkap
    So here's my issue: I followed the NSURLConnection tutorial in the iPhone Developer Documentation almost to the T, and it only kinda works. Here's where it all goes wrong: The object seems to be created correctly and delegates to connectionDidFinishLoading, but with any URL I try to load the response data always ends up only being 0 bytes. I am running in the simulator if that makes any difference. Here's my relevant code: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.title = @"WVFS Player"; //create a request NSURLRequest *theRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://wvfs.josh-kaplan.com/nowPlaying.php"] cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60.0]; // create a connection NSURLConnection *theConnection=[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; if(theConnection) { // create the datum responseData=[[NSMutableData data] retain]; } else { // code this later } } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response { [responseData setLength:0]; } - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { // make it work NSLog(@"Succeeded! Received %d bytes of data:",[responseData length]); // release it [connection release]; [responseData release]; } And here's my log output: [Session started at 2010-03-14 09:01:09 -0400.] 2010-03-14 09:01:14.784 WVFS[19571:207] Succeeded! Received 0 bytes of data: Any ideas? Thanks, Josh

  • Animation or Video instead of Default.png (Iphone app)

    - by ludo
    hi, I saw in many application like Zara, Zara Home, D&G.. that instead of using the Default.png image for loading the application, they use a video instead. Did someone know how to do it? Did they manage to replace the Default image and put an animation instead or just load an animation in the ApplicationDidFinishLaunching Thanks,

  • Update table columns bound to NSArrayController

    - by Loz
    Hi, I'm fairly new to the world of bindings in cocoa, and I'm having some troubles (perhaps/probably due to a misunderstanding). I have a singleton that contains an NSMutableArray called plugins, containing objects of class Plugin. It has a method called loadPlugins which adds objects to the plugins array. This may be called at any point. It's been added as an instance in Interface Builder. Also in IB is an NSObjectController, whose content outlet is connected to the singleton. There is also an NSArrayController, whose contentArray is bound to the NSObjectController (controller key is 'selection', model key path is 'plugins', object class name is 'Plugin'). And finally I have a table view with 2 columns, the values of which are bound to the NSArrayController's arrangedObjects, using keys of properties in the Plugin class. So far so standard (as far as I can tell from tutorials at least). My trouble is that when the loadPlugins method is called in the singleton, and objects are added to the plugins array, the table doesn't update to show the objects (unless loadPlugins is called before the nib is loaded). -reloadData called on the tableView doesn't do anything. Is there a way to tell the NSArrayController that the referenced array has been updated? I understand there is the -add: method for NSArrayController, which could be used in the loadPlugins, but this isn't desirable as I want to keep the singleton totally separate from the display aspect. This seems related to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1623396/refresh-cocoa-binding-nsarraycontroller-combobox The line: "editing the array behind the controller's back" seems to perhaps pinpoint the problem, but I would hope that it would be possible to have the singleton not know about the controller. Thanks in advance.

  • Why does this JSON fail only in iPhone?

    - by 4thSpace
    I'm using the JSON framework from http://code.google.com/p/json-framework. The JSON below fails with this error: -JSONValue failed. Error trace is: ( Error Domain=org.brautaset.JSON.ErrorDomain Code=5 UserInfo=0x124a20 "Unescaped control character '0xd'", Error Domain=org.brautaset.JSON.ErrorDomain Code=3 UserInfo=0x11bc20 "Object value expected for key: Phone", Error Domain=org.brautaset.JSON.ErrorDomain Code=3 UserInfo=0x1ac6e0 "Expected value while parsing array" ) JSON being parsed: [{"id" :"2422","name" :"BusinessA","address" :"7100 U.S. 50","lat" :"38.342945","lng" :"-90.390701","CityId" :"11","StateId" :"38","CategoryId" :"1","Phone" :"(200) 200-2000","zip" :"00010"}] I think 0xd represents a carriage. When I put the above JSON in TextWrangler, I don't see any carriage returns. I got the JSON by doing "po myjson" in the debugger. It passes this validator: http://json.parser.online.fr/. Can anyone see what the problem may be?

  • UIWebView/MPMoviePlayerController and the "Done" button

    - by David Sowsy
    I am using the UIWebView to load both streaming audio and video. I have properly set up the UIWebView delegate and I am receiving webViewDidStartLoading and webViewFinishedLoading events perfectly. The webview launches a full screen window (likely a MPMoviePlayerController) Apple's MoviePlayer example gets the array of Windows to determine which window the moviePlayerWindow is for adding custom drawing/getting at the GUI components. I believe this to be a bad practice/hack. My expectation is that I should be able to figure out when that button was clicked by either a delegate method or an NSNotification. It may also be the case that I have to poke around subviews or controllers with isKindOf calls, but I don't think those are correct approaches. Are my expectations incorrect, and if so, why? What is the correct way to bind an action to that "Done" button?

  • Schedule timer with NSTimer makes the task run faster than expected

    - by Hoang Pham
    I schedule a timer with NSTimer's function in viewWillAppear as follows: minutesTimer = nil; minutesTimer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:60 target:self selector:@selector(updateScrollViewItems) userInfo:NULL repeats:YES]; With this function call, I expect it to call the selector updateScrollViewItems every minute, but it does not, it update items faster than expected (around some seconds). What is the cause of this unexpected behavior?

  • Problems with makeObjectsPerformSelector inside and outside a class?

    - by QuakAttak
    A friend and I are creating a card game for the iPhone, and in these early days of the project, I'm developing a Deck class and a Card class to keep up with the cards. I'm wanting to test the shuffle method of the Deck class, but I am not able to show the values of the cards in the Deck class instance. The Deck class has a NSArray of Card objects that have a method called displayCard that shows the value and suit using console output(printf or NSLog). In order to show what cards are in a Deck instance all at once, I am using this, [deck makeObjectsPerformSelector:@selector(displayCard)], where deck is the NSArray in the Deck class. Inside of the Deck class, nothing is displayed on the console output. But in a test file, it works just fine. Here's the test file that creates its own NSArray: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "card.h" int main (int argc, char** argv) { NSAutoreleasePool* pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; Card* two = [[Card alloc] initValue:2 withSuit:'d']; Card* three = [[Card alloc] initValue:3 withSuit:'h']; Card* four = [[Card alloc] initValue:4 withSuit:'c']; NSArray* deck = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:two,three,four,nil]; //Ok, what if we release the objects in the array before they're used? //I don't think this will work... [two release]; [three release]; [four release]; //Ok, it works... I wonder how... //Hmm... how will this work? [deck makeObjectsPerformSelector:@selector(displayCard)]; //Yay! It works fine! [pool release]; return 0; } This worked beautifully, so I created an initializer around this idea, creating 52 card objects one at a time and adding them to the NSArray using deck = [deck arrayByAddingObject:newCard]. Is the real problem with how I'm using makeObjectsPerformSelector or something before/after it?

  • iOS Efficiency File Saving Efficiency

    - by Guvvy Aba
    I was working on my iOS app and my goal is to save a file that I am receiving from the internet bit by bit. My current setup is that I have a NSMutableData object and I add a bit of data to it as I receive my file. After the last "packet" is received, I write the NSData to a file and the process is complete. I'm kind of worried that this isn't the ideal way to do it because of the limitations of RAM in a mobile device and it would be problematic to receive large files. My next thought was to implement a NSFileHandle so that as the file arrives, it would be saved to the disk, rather than the virtual memory. In terms of speed and efficiency, which method do you think will work decently on an iOS device. I am currently using the first, NSMutableData approach. Is it worth changing my app to use the NSFileHandle? Thanks in advance, Guvvy

  • Passing html parameters to server odd problem

    - by StealthRT
    Hey all i am having a weird problem with sending data back to my server. This is the code i am using: NSString *theURL =[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.xxx.com/confirm.asp?theID=%@&theName=%@&empID=%@&theComp=%@", theConfirmNum, tmpNBUserRow.userName, labelTxt.text, theID]; NSLog(@"%@,%@,%@,%@", theConfirmNum, tmpNBUserRow.userName, labelTxt.text, theID); NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:theURL]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; NSError *error; NSURLResponse *response; NSData *urlData=[NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&response error:&error]; NSString *data=[[NSString alloc]initWithData:urlData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; if ([data isEqualToString:@"Done"]) I can run the code from the browser and it works just fine using the data i got from the NSLog output. The NSLog output for each value is correct. But for some reason when i put a break on the IF ([data isEqualToString:@"Done"]) it has no return value. I checked each value for what it was sending (and again, it was correct in the NSLog output) and i found that the value "theID" said "Out of scope". Although, again, the NSLog had the value in it correctly? So i searched the forum and found a simular problem. I took their advice and added "RETAIN" to the "theID" value like so: theID = [customObjInstance TID]; [theID retain]; However, that did not solve the issue... Here is the console NSLog output: [Session started at 2010-04-11 01:31:50 -0400.] wait_fences: failed to receive reply: 10004003 wait_fences: failed to receive reply: 10004003 nbTxt(5952,0xa0937500) malloc: *** error for object 0x3c0ebc0: double free *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug 2010-04-11 01:32:12.270 nbTxt[5952:207] 5122,Rob S.,5122,NB010203 The NSLog values i am sending is the last line "5122,Rob S.,5122,NB010203" Any help would be great :o) David

  • Subview of custom NSView is resizing itself to fit within its superview

    - by Jonathan Patt
    I have a custom NSView which contains a subview—for the purposes of solving this issue, the top level view is simply acting as a container and automatically resizes to fit within the window. Its subview draws a rectangle 10 pixels inset from the edge of the window, except for the bottom, which should get clipped by the window until it's resized to show the entire rectangle. It does not, however, behave as I intend, and instead shrinks the height of the rectangle when its superview has a smaller height than it does. How do I avoid this and have it stay at its proper height and instead get clipped when the superview is smaller? The parent view's implementation code is: - (id)initWithFrame:(NSRect)frameRect { self = [super initWithFrame:frameRect]; if (self) { subView = [[SubView alloc] initWithFrame:frameRect]; } return self; } - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)dirtyRect { [[NSColor grayColor] set]; [subView setFrame:NSMakeRect(10, 10, dirtyRect.size.width - 20, 500)]; [self addSubview:subView]; } - (BOOL)isFlipped { return YES; } And the subview is just: - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)dirtyRect { [[NSColor blackColor] set]; [NSBezierPath strokeRect:dirtyRect]; } - (BOOL)isFlipped { return YES; }

  • How do I track down the source of a KVC exception: this class is not key value coding-compliant for

    - by sam
    I get this error when I try to run my app: 2010-04-29 13:49:01.355 MyApp[56123:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSUnknownKeyException', reason: '[<MyViewController 0x5112b10> setValue:forUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key toolbar.' MyViewController used to have an IBOutlet called 'toolbar' that connected to a UIToolbar object in a nib. I decided I no longer needed the toolbar or the nib so I removed them from the project. But Xcode seems to still want to refer to 'toolbar'. Where might the reference to toolbar be if I no longer use a nib? I can synthesize a dummy 'toolbar' property to appease Xcode, but I want to avoid this kind of ugly hack.

  • Setting corelocation results to NSNumber object parameters

    - by Dan Ray
    This is a weird one, y'all. - (void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { CLLocationCoordinate2D coordinate = newLocation.coordinate; self.mark.longitude = [NSNumber numberWithDouble:coordinate.longitude]; self.mark.latitude = [NSNumber numberWithDouble:coordinate.latitude]; NSLog(@"Got %f %f, set %f %f", coordinate.latitude, coordinate.longitude, self.mark.latitude, self.mark.longitude); [manager stopUpdatingLocation]; manager.delegate = nil; if (self.waitingForLocation) { [self completeUpload]; } } The latitude and longitude in that "mark" object are synthesized parameters referring to NSNumber iVars. In the simulator, my NSLog output for that line in the middle there reads: 2010-05-28 15:08:46.938 EverWondr[8375:207] Got 37.331689 -122.030731, set 0.000000 -44213283338325225829852024986561881455984640.000000 That's a WHOLE lot further East than 1 Infinite Loop! The numbers are different on the device, but similar--lat is still zero and long is a very unlikely high negative number. Elsewhere in the controller I'm accepting a button press and uploading a file (an image I just took with the camera) with its geocoding info associated, and I need that self.waitingForLocation to inform the CLLocationManager delegate that I already hit that button and once its done its deal, it should go ahead and fire off the upload. Thing is, up in the button-click-receiving method, I test see if CL is finished by testing self.mark.latitude, which seems to be getting set zero...

  • UIButtonTypeRoundedRect as an accessoryView

    - by phunehehe
    Hello, I have a table view and I want to put a label on the right of each cell, so in - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath I'm having some code like this UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; button.titleLabel.text = @"title"; cell.accessoryView = button; However, the button is not displaying at all. Anyone know why? I am sure that the declaration is correct, because if I replace the button declaration with UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeDetailDisclosure]; then the button appears, which make me think that the rounded rectangle should also appear.

  • Using undecorated UiNavigationBar

    - by Nicsoft
    Hello, I would like to use UINavigationBar without decoration. I.e. I would like to create my own custom buttons and link those to the same actions (e.g. back) as the navigation items were linked to and have no bar presented at the top. I was told that one should use navigation bar even though graphically you should design the interaction yourself. How do I go about doing this? I am quite new to navigation bar to start with... If there is some tutorial you can direct me to it would be great (that is for using nav-bar without decoration). Thanks in advance! Regards, Niklas

  • Unable to access a primitive array inside a custom class from a UIViewController instance

    - by Daniel
    Hello! I have made a subclass of NSObject that is meant to be the model of my application. The class has a few methods and on instance primitive array as such: @interface Cube : NSObject { int cubeState[5][2][2]; } - (id)printContent; @end @implementation Cube - (void)init { if (self = [super init]) { for (int i=0; i<=5; i++) { for (int j=0; j<=2; j++) { for (int k=0; k<=2; k++) { cubeState[i][j][k] = i; } } } } return self; } - (void)printContent { for (int i=0; i<=5; i++) { for (int j=0; j<=2; j++) { for (int k=0; k<=2; k++) { NSLog(@"[%d] [%d] [%d] = %d", i, j, k, cubeState[i][j][k]); } } } } @end This works fine if instanciated from the delegate as such: #include "Cube.h" @implementation CubeAppDelegate @synthesize window; - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { Cube *cube = [[Cube alloc] init]; [cube printContent]; [cube release]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } However, the application crashes if I try to create a subclass of UIViewController with a Cube *cube property and later try to access the Cube instance object through the view controller's property as such: @interface CustomController : UIViewController { Cube *cube; } @property (nonatomic, retain) Cube *cube; @end @implementation CustomController @synthesize cube; - (void)dealloc { [cube release]; [super dealloc]; } @end and in the delegate: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { viewController = [[CustomController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainView" bundle:nil]; viewController.cube = [[[Cube alloc] init] autorelease]; [viewController.cube printContent]; // Application crashes here } Any ideas?

  • Change Sprite Anchorpoint without moving it?

    - by Oscar Gomez
    I am trying to change my Sprite anchor point so that I can rotate over a 0.0f,0.0f anchorpoint. At first my object is rotation at the default anchor point (0.5f,0.5f). However later on I need it to rotate over a 0.0,0.0 AnchorPoint. The problem is I cannot change the anchor point and change the position accordingly, so it stays on the same position, without the object appearing to quickly move and reposition to its original point. Is there a way I can set the anchor point and the position of my Sprite at once, without it moving at all?. Thank you. -Oscar

  • Problem compiling gnustep-gui-0.16.0 undefined reference to png_sizeof

    I'm trying to compile GNUstep on a linux box but gnustep-gui-0.16.0 package is failing. I downloaded GNUstep Startup stable 0.20.1 (http://wwwmain.gnustep.org/resources/downloads.php)and follow instructions about how to compile (./configure && make). I'm getting this error: libgnustep-gui.so: undefined reference to 'png_sizeof' I have compiled latest libpng (1.2.34) and I can see that png_sizeof is defined as macro. However, I'm not quite sure how to fix the gnustep-gui-0.16.0 build. I tried to pass the include/lib directory where libpng is installed to configure build but nothing seems to help.
