  • Optimising ruby regexp -- lots of match groups

    - by Farcaller
I'm working on a ruby baser lexer. To improve performance, I joined up all tokens' regexps into one big regexp with match group names. The resulting regexp looks like: /\A(?<__anonymous_-1038694222803470993>(?-mix:\n+))|\A(?<__anonymous_-1394418499721420065>(?-mix:\/\/[\A\n]*))|\A(?<__anonymous_3077187815313752157>(?-mix:include\s+"[\A"]+"))|\A(?<LET>(?-mix:let\s))|\A(?<IN>(?-mix:in\s))|\A(?<CLASS>(?-mix:class\s))|\A(?<DEF>(?-mix:def\s))|\A(?<DEFM>(?-mix:defm\s))|\A(?<MULTICLASS>(?-mix:multiclass\s))|\A(?<FUNCNAME>(?-mix:![a-zA-Z_][a-zA-Z0-9_]*))|\A(?<ID>(?-mix:[a-zA-Z_][a-zA-Z0-9_]*))|\A(?<STRING>(?-mix:"[\A"]*"))|\A(?<NUMBER>(?-mix:[0-9]+))/ I'm matching it to my string producing a MatchData where exactly one token is parsed: bigregex =~ "\n ... garbage" puts $~.inspect Which outputs #<MatchData "\n" __anonymous_-1038694222803470993:"\n" __anonymous_-1394418499721420065:nil __anonymous_3077187815313752157:nil LET:nil IN:nil CLASS:nil DEF:nil DEFM:nil MULTICLASS:nil FUNCNAME:nil ID:nil STRING:nil NUMBER:nil> So, the regex actually matched the "\n" part. Now, I need to figure the match group where it belongs (it's clearly visible from #inspect output that it's _anonymous-1038694222803470993, but I need to get it programmatically). I could not find any option other than iterating over #names: m.names.each do |n| if m[n] type = n.to_sym resolved_type = (n.start_with?('__anonymous_') ? nil : type) val = m[n] break end end which verifies that the match group did have a match. The problem here is that it's slow (I spend about 10% of time in the loop; also 8% grabbing the @input[@pos..-1] to make sure that \A works as expected to match start of string (I do not discard input, just shift the @pos in it). You can check the full code at GH repo. Any ideas on how to make it at least a bit faster? Is there any option to figure the "successful" match group easier?

  • RegExpValidator never matches

    - by babyangel86
Hi, I've got a class that's meant to validate input fields to make sure the value is always a decimal. I've tested the regex here: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=validators_7.html, and it looks like it does the right thing, but in my app, I can't seem to get it to match to a number format. Class Definition: public class DecimalValidator { //------------------------------- ATTRIBUTES public var isDecimalValidator:RegExpValidator; //------------------------------- CONSTRUCTORS public function DecimalValidator() { isDecimalValidator = new RegExpValidator(); isDecimalValidator.expression = "^-?(\d+\.\d*|\.\d+)$"; isDecimalValidator.flags = "g"; isDecimalValidator.required = true; isDecimalValidator.property = "text"; isDecimalValidator.triggerEvent = FocusEvent.FOCUS_OUT; isDecimalValidator.noMatchError = "Float Expected"; } } Setting the source here: public function registerDecimalInputValidator(inputBox:TextInput, valArr:Array):void { // Add Validators var dValidator:DecimalValidator = new DecimalValidator(); dValidator.isDecimalValidator.source = inputBox; dValidator.isDecimalValidator.trigger = inputBox; inputBox.restrict = "[0-9].\\.\\-"; inputBox.maxChars = 10; valArr.push(dValidator.isDecimalValidator); } And Calling it here: registerDecimalInputValidator(textInput, validatorArr); Where textInput is an input box created earlier. Clearly I'm missing something simple yet important, but I'm not entirely sure what! Any help would be much appreciated.

  • How would I sort files to directories based on filenames?

    - by gnomed
I have a huge number of files to sort all named in some terrible convention. Here are some examples: (4)_mr__mcloughlin____.txt 12__sir_john_farr____.txt (b)mr__chope____.txt dame_elaine_kellett-bowman____.txt dr__blackburn______.txt These names are supposed to be a different person (speaker) each. Someone in another IT department produced these from a ton of XML files using some script but the naming is unfathomably stupid as you can see. I need to sort literally tens of thousands of these files with multiple files of text for each person; each with something stupid making the filename different, be it more underscores or some random number. They need to be sorted by speaker. This would be easier with a script to do most of the work then I could just go back and merge folders that should be under the same name or whatever. There are a number of ways I was thinking about doing this. parse the names from each file and sort them into folders for each unique name. get a list of all the unique names from the filenames, then look through this simplified list of unique names for similar ones and ask me whether they are the same, and once it has determined this it will sort them all accordingly. I plan on using Perl, but I can try a new language if it's worth it. I'm not sure how to go about reading in each filename in a directory one at a time into a string for parsing into an actual name. I'm not completely sure how to parse with regex in perl either, but that might be googleable. For the sorting, I was just gonna use the shell command: `cp filename.txt /example/destination/filename.txt` but just cause that's all I know so it's easiest. I dont even have a pseudocode idea of what im going to do either so if someone knows the best sequence of actions, im all ears. I guess I am looking for a lot of help, I am open to any suggestions. Many many many thanks to anyone who can help. B.

  • (php) regexto remove comments but ignore occurances within strings

    - by David
Hi there, I am writing a comment-stripper and trying to accommodate for all needs here. I have the below stack of code which removes pretty much all comments, but it actually goes too far. A lot of time was spent trying and testing and researching the regex patterns to match, but I don't claim that they are the best at each. My problem is that I also have situation where I have 'PHP comments' (that aren't really comments' in standard code, or even in PHP strings, that I don't actually want to have removed. Example: <?php $Var = "Blah blah //this must not comment"; // this must comment. ?> What ends up happening is that it strips out religiously, which is fine, but it leaves certain problems: <?php $Var = "Blah blah ?> Also: will also cause problems, as the comment removes the rest of the line, including the ending ? See the problem? So this is what I need... Comment characters within '' or "" need to be ignored PHP Comments on the same line, that use double-slashes, should remove perhaps only the comment itself, or should remove the entire php codeblock. Here's the patterns I use at the moment, feel free to tell me if there's improvement I can make in my existing patterns? :) $CompressedData = $OriginalData; $CompressedData = preg_replace('!/\*.*?\*/!s', '', $CompressedData); // removes /* comments */ $CompressedData = preg_replace('!//.*?\n!', '', $CompressedData); // removes //comments $CompressedData = preg_replace('!#.*?\n!', '', $CompressedData); // removes # comments $CompressedData = preg_replace('/<!--(.*?)-->/', '', $CompressedData); // removes HTML comments Any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated! :)

  • preg_match to find the current directory in a URL

    - by Ian
I'm trying to detect the current section of a site that a user is viewing by checking for the final directory in the URL. I'm using a PHP and regex to do it and I think I'm close but unfortunately not quite there yet. Here's what I currently have: <?php $url = $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI_PATH'] = preg_replace('/\\?.*/', '', $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']); $one = '/one/'; $two = '/three/'; $three = '/three/'; $four = '/four/'; $five = '/five/'; echo $url; if (substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI_PATH'], 0, strlen($one)) == $one) { // URI path starts with "/one/" echo "The section is one."; } elseif (substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI_PATH'], 0, strlen($two)) == $two) { // URI path starts with "/two/" echo "The section is two."; } elseif (substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI_PATH'], 0, strlen($three)) == $three) { // URI path starts with "/three/" echo "The section is three."; } elseif (substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI_PATH'], 0, strlen($four)) == $four) { // URI path starts with "/four/" echo "The section is four."; } elseif (substr($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI_PATH'], 0, strlen($five)) == $five) { // URI path starts with "/five/" echo "The section is five."; } ?> I've placed in the echo before the if statements just to get confirmation of the value of $url. This outputs /currentdirectory/file.php However the conditions themselves don't match anything and my individual echo for each section never displays. Also if there's a simpler way of doing it then I'm open to suggestions. Thanks

  • A generic Re-usable C# Property Parser utility

    - by Shyam K Pananghat
This is about a utility i have happened to write which can parse through the properties of a data contracts at runtime using reflection. The input required is a look like XPath string. since this is using reflection, you dont have to add the reference to any of your data contracts thus making pure generic and re- usable.. you can read about this and get the full c# sourcecode here. Property-Parser-A-C-utility-to-retrieve-values-from-any-Net-Data-contracts-at-runtime Now about the doubts which i have about this utility. i am using this utility enormously i many places of my code I am using Regex repetedly inside a recursion method. does this affect the memmory usage or GC collection badly ?do i have to dispose this manually. if yes how ?. The statements like obj.GetType().GetProperty() and obj.GetType().GetField() returns .net "object" which makes difficult or imposible to introduce generics here. Does this cause to have any overheads like boxing ? on an overall, please suggest to make this utility performance efficient and more light weight on memmory

  • Reconstructing Position in the Original Array from the Position in a Stripped Down Array

    - by aronchick
I have a text file that contains a number of the following: <ID> <Time 1> --> <Time 2> <Quote (potentially multiple line> <New Line Separator> <ID> <Time 1> --> <Time 2> <Quote (potentially multiple line> <New Line Separator> <ID> <Time 1> --> <Time 2> <Quote (potentially multiple line> <New Line Separator> I have a very simple regex for stripping these out into a constant block so it's just: <Quote> <Quote> <Quote> What I'd like to do is present the quotes as a block to the user, and have them select it (using jQuery.fieldSelection) and then use the selected content to back out to the original array, so I can get timing and IDs. Because this has to go out to HTML, and the user has to be able to select the text on the screen, I can't do anything like hidden divs or hidden input fields. The only data I will have is the character range selected on screen. To be specific, this is what it looks like: 1 0:00 --> 0:05 He was bored. So bored. His great intellect, seemingly inexhaustible, was hungry for new challenges but he was the last of the great innovators 2 0:05 --> 0:10 - society's problems had all been solved. 3 0:11 --> 0:20 All seemingly unconnected disciplines had long since been found to be related in horrifically elusive and contrived ways and he had mastered them all. And this is what I'd like to present to the user for selection: He was bored. So bored. His great intellect, seemingly inexhaustible, was hungry for new challenges but he was the last of the great innovators - society's problems had all been solved. All seemingly unconnected disciplines had long since been found to be related in horrifically elusive and contrived ways and he had mastered them all. Has anyone com across something like this before? Any ideas how to take the selected text, or selection position, and go backwards to the original meta-data?

  • How do I add a trailing slash for Django MPTT-based categorization app?

    - by Patrick Beeson
I'm using Django-MPTT to develop a categorization app for my Django project. But I can't seem to get the regex pattern for adding a trailing slash that doesn't also break on child categories. Here's an example URL: http://mydjangoapp.com/categories/parentcat/childcat/ I'd like to be able to use http://mydjangoapp.com/categories/parentcat and have it redirect to the trailing slash version. The same should apply to http://mydjangoapp.com/categories/parentcat/childcat (it should redirect to http://mydjangoapp.com/categories/parentcat/childcat/). Here's my urls.py: from django.conf.urls.defaults import patterns, include, url from django.views.decorators.cache import cache_page from storefront.categories.models import Category from storefront.categories.views import SimpleCategoryView urlpatterns = patterns('', url(r'^(?P<full_slug>[-\w/]+)', cache_page(SimpleCategoryView.as_view(), 60 * 15), name='category_view'), ) And here is my view: from django.core.exceptions import ImproperlyConfigured from django.core.urlresolvers import reverse from django.views.generic import TemplateView, DetailView from django.views.generic.detail import SingleObjectTemplateResponseMixin, SingleObjectMixin from django.utils.translation import ugettext as _ from django.contrib.syndication.views import Feed from storefront.categories.models import Category class SimpleCategoryView(TemplateView): def get_category(self): return Category.objects.get(full_slug=self.kwargs['full_slug']) def get_context_data(self, **kwargs): context = super(SimpleCategoryView, self).get_context_data(**kwargs) context["category"] = self.get_category() return context def get_template_names(self): if self.get_category().template_name: return [self.get_category().template_name] else: return ['categories/category_detail.html'] And finally, my model: from django.db import models from mptt.models import MPTTModel from mptt.fields import TreeForeignKey class CategoryManager(models.Manager): def get(self, **kwargs): defaults = {} defaults.update(kwargs) if 'full_slug' in defaults: if defaults['full_slug'] and defaults['full_slug'][-1] != "/": defaults['full_slug'] += "/" return super(CategoryManager, self).get(**defaults) class Category(MPTTModel): title = models.CharField(max_length=255) description = models.TextField(blank=True, help_text='Please use <a href="http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/syntax">Markdown syntax</a> for all text-formatting and links. If this isn't provided, the system will use 'categories/category_detail.html'. • Regular expression to convert ul to textindent and back, with a different attribute value for first

    - by chapmanio
Hi, This is a related to a previous question I have asked here, see the link below for a brief description as to why I am trying to do this. Regular expression from font to span (size and colour) and back (VB.NET) Basically I need a regex replace function (or if this can be done in pure VB then that's fine) to convert all ul tags in a string to textindent tags, with a different attribute value for the first textindent tag. For example: <ul> <li>This is some text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> <li> <ul> <li>This is some indented text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> </ul> </li> <li>More text!</li> <li> <ul> <li>This is some indented text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> </ul> </li> <li>More text!</li> </ul> Will become: <textformat indent="0"> <li>This is some text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> <li> <textformat indent="20"> <li>This is some indented text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> </textformat> </li> <li>More text!</li> <li> <textformat indent="20"> <li>This is some indented text</li> <li>This is some more text</li> </textformat> </li> <li>More text!</li> </textformat> Basically I want the first ul tag to have no indenting, but all nested ul tags to have an indent of 20. I appreciate this is a strange request but hopefully that makes sense, please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks in advance.

  • Parsing HTML using HtmlParser

    - by Blankman
My html has 20 or so rows of the following HTML pattern. So the below is considered a single instance of the pattern. Each instance of this pattern represents a product. Again the below is a single instance, it spans multiple rows in the HTML table. <table> .. <!-- product starts here, this html comment is not in the real html --> <tr> <td rowspan="5" class="product" valign="top"><nobr> ????????????</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> <td class="title" ??????????>?????????</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="data" ?????? </td> <td class="data" ?????? </td> <td class="data" ?????? </td> <td class="data" ?????? </td> <td class="data" ?????? </td> <td class="data" ?????? </td> </tr> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="5" ????????</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="6" width="100%">&nbsp;<hr></td> </tr> <!-- product ends here, this html comment is not in the real html --> <!-- above pattern repeats multiple times in the HTML --> .. <table> I am trying to use HtmlParser for this. Parser rowParser = new Parser(); rowParser.setInputHtml(page.getHtml()); // page object represents a html page rowParser.setEncoding("UTF-8"); NodeFilter productRowFilter = new AndFilter( new TagNameFilter("tr"), new HasChildFilter( new AndFilter( new TagNameFilter("td"), new HasAttributeFilter("class", "product"))) The above filter doesn't work, just showing you what I have so far. I need to somehow combine these filters, and use the last td to mark the end of the pattern i.e. the td with the colspan=6 and width=100% with child element hr. I have been struggling with this, and have resorted to Regex'ing but was told numerous times to NOT use regex for html parsing, so here I am! Your help is much appreciated!

  • php/dos : How do you parse a regedit export file?

    - by phill
    My objective is to look for Company key-value in the registry hive and then pull the corresponding Guid and other keys and values following it. So I figured i would run the regedit export command and then parse the file with php for the keys I need. So after running the dos batch command >regedit /E "output.txt" "HKLM\System....\Company1" The output textfile seems to be in some kind of UNICODE format which isn't regex friendly. I'm using php to parse the file and pull the keys. Here is the php code i'm using to parse the file <?php $regfile = "output.txt"; $handle = fopen ("c:\\\\" . $regfile,"r"); //echo "handle: " . $file . "<br>"; $row = 1; while ((($data = fgets($handle, 1024)) !== FALSE) ) { $num = count($data); echo "$num fields in line $row: \n"; $reg_section = $data; //$reg_section = "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TECHNOLOGIES\MEDIUS\CONFIG MANAGER\SYSTEM\COMPANIES\RECORD11]"; $pattern = "/^(\[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\SOFTWARE\\\TECHNOLOGIES\\\MEDIUS\\\CONFIG MANAGER\\\SYSTEM\\\COMPANIES\\\RECORD(\d+)\])$/"; if ( preg_match($pattern, $reg_section )) { echo "<font color=red>Found</font><br>"; } else { echo "not found<br>"; echo $data . "<br>"; } $row++; } //end while fclose($handle); ?> and the output looks like this.... 1 fields in line 1: not found ÿþW?i?n?d?o?w?s? ?R?e?g?i?s?t?r?y? ?E?d?i?t?o?r? ?V?e?r?s?i?o?n? ?5?.?0?0? ? 1 fields in line 2: not found 1 fields in line 3: not found [?H?K?E?Y??L?O?C?A?L??M?A?C?H?I?N?E?\?S?O?F?T?W?A?R?E?\?I?N?T?E?R?S?T?A?R? ?T?E?C?H?N?O?L?O?G?I?E?S?\?X?M?E?D?I?U?S?\?C?O?N?F?I?G? ?M?A?N?A?G?E?R?\?S?Y?S?T?E?M?\?C?O?M?P?A?N?I?E?S?]? ? 1 fields in line 4: not found "?N?e?x?t? ?R?e?c?o?r?d? ?I?D?"?=?"?4?1?"? ? 1 fields in line 5: not found Any ideas how to approach this? thanks in advance

  • How do I create something like a negated character class with a string instead of characters?

    - by Chas. Owens
    I am trying to write a tokenizer for Mustache in Perl. I can easily handle most of the tokens like this: #!/usr/bin/perl use strict; use warnings; my $comment = qr/ \G \{\{ ! (?<comment> .+? ) }} /xs; my $variable = qr/ \G \{\{ (?<variable> .+? ) }} /xs; my $text = qr/ \G (?<text> .+? ) (?= \{\{ | \z ) /xs; my $tokens = qr/ $comment | $variable | $text /x; my $s = do { local $/; <DATA> }; while ($s =~ /$tokens/g) { my ($type) = keys %+; (my $contents = $+{$type}) =~ s/\n/\\n/; print "type [$type] contents [$contents]\n"; } __DATA__ {{!this is a comment}} Hi {{name}}, I like {{thing}}. But I am running into trouble with the Set Delimiters directive: #!/usr/bin/perl use strict; use warnings; my $delimiters = qr/ \G \{\{ (?<start> .+? ) = [ ] = (?<end> .+?) }} /xs; my $comment = qr/ \G \{\{ ! (?<comment> .+? ) }} /xs; my $variable = qr/ \G \{\{ (?<variable> .+? ) }} /xs; my $text = qr/ \G (?<text> .+? ) (?= \{\{ | \z ) /xs; my $tokens = qr/ $comment | $delimiters | $variable | $text /x; my $s = do { local $/; <DATA> }; while ($s =~ /$tokens/g) { for my $type (keys %+) { (my $contents = $+{$type}) =~ s/\n/\\n/; print "type [$type] contents [$contents]\n"; } } __DATA__ {{!this is a comment}} Hi {{name}}, I like {{thing}}. {{(= =)}} If I change it to my $delimiters = qr/ \G \{\{ (?<start> [^{]+? ) = [ ] = (?<end> .+?) }} /xs; It works fine, but the point of the Set Delimiters directive is to change the delimiters, so the code will wind up looking like my $variable = qr/ \G $start (?<variable> .+? ) $end /xs; And it is perfectly valid to say {{{== ==}}} (i.e. change the delimiters to {= and =}). What I want, but maybe not what I need, is the ability to say something like (?:not starting string)+?. I figure I am just going to have to give up being clean about it and drop code into the regex to force it to match only what I want. I am trying to avoid that for four reasons: I don't think it is very clean. It is marked as experimental. I am not very familier with it (I think it comes down to (?{CODE}) and returning special values. I am hoping someone knows some other exotic feature that I am not familiar with that fits the situation better (e.g. (?(condition)yes-pattern|no-pattern)). Just to make things clear (I hope), I am trying to match a constant length starting delimiter followed by the shortest string that allows a match and does not contain the starting delimiter followed by a space followed by an equals sign followed by the shortest string that allows a match that ends with the ending delimiter.

  • Optimizing a lot of Scanner.findWithinHorizon(pattern, 0) calls

I'm building a process which extracts data from 6 csv-style files and two poorly laid out .txt reports and builds output CSVs, and I'm fully aware that there's going to be some overhead searching through all that whitespace thousands of times, but I never anticipated converting about about 50,000 records would take 12 hours. Excerpt of my manual matching code (I know it's horrible that I use lists of tokens like that, but it was the best thing I could think of): public static String lookup(List<String> tokensBefore, List<String> tokensAfter) { String result = null; while(_match(tokensBefore)) { // block until all input is read if(id.hasNext()) { result = id.next(); // capture the next token that matches if(_matchImmediate(tokensAfter)) // try to match tokensAfter to this result return result; } else return null; // end of file; no match } return null; // no matches } private static boolean _match(List<String> tokens) { return _match(tokens, true); } private static boolean _match(List<String> tokens, boolean block) { if(tokens != null && !tokens.isEmpty()) { if(id.findWithinHorizon(tokens.get(0), 0) == null) return false; for(int i = 1; i <= tokens.size(); i++) { if (i == tokens.size()) { // matches all tokens return true; } else if(id.hasNext() && !id.next().matches(tokens.get(i))) { break; // break to blocking behaviour } } } else { return true; // empty list always matches } if(block) return _match(tokens); // loop until we find something or nothing else return false; // return after just one attempted match } private static boolean _matchImmediate(List<String> tokens) { if(tokens != null) { for(int i = 0; i <= tokens.size(); i++) { if (i == tokens.size()) { // matches all tokens return true; } else if(!id.hasNext() || !id.next().matches(tokens.get(i))) { return false; // doesn't match, or end of file } } return false; // we have some serious problems if this ever gets called } else { return true; // empty list always matches } } Basically wondering how I would work in an efficient string search (Boyer-Moore or similar). My Scanner id is scanning a java.util.String, figured buffering it to memory would reduce I/O since the search here is being performed thousands of times on a relatively small file. The performance increase compared to scanning a BufferedReader(FileReader(File)) was probably less than 1%, the process still looks to be taking a LONG time. I've also traced execution and the slowness of my overall conversion process is definitely between the first and last like of the lookup method. In fact, so much so that I ran a shortcut process to count the number of occurrences of various identifiers in the .csv-style files (I use 2 lookup methods, this is just one of them) and the process completed indexing approx 4 different identifiers for 50,000 records in less than a minute. Compared to 12 hours, that's instant. Some notes (updated): I don't necessarily need the pattern-matching behaviour, I only get the first field of a line of text so I need to match line breaks or use Scanner.nextLine(). All ID numbers I need start at position 0 of a line and run through til the first block of whitespace, after which is the name of the corresponding object. I would ideally want to return a String, not an int locating the line number or start position of the result, but if it's faster then it will still work just fine. If an int is being returned, however, then I would now have to seek to that line again just to get the ID; storing the ID of every line that is searched sounds like a way around that. Anything to help me out, even if it saves 1ms per search, will help, so all input is appreciated. Thankyou! Usage scenario 1: I have a list of objects in file A, who in the old-style system have an id number which is not in file A. It is, however, POSSIBLY in another csv-style file (file B) or possibly still in a .txt report (file C) which each also contain a bunch of other information which is not useful here, and so file B needs to be searched through for the object's full name (1 token since it would reside within the second column of any given line), and then the first column should be the ID number. If that doesn't work, we then have to split the search token by whitespace into separate tokens before doing a search of file C for those tokens as well. Generalised code: String field; for (/* each record in file A */) { /* construct the rest of this object from file A info */ // now to find the ID, if we can List<String> objectName = new ArrayList<String>(1); objectName.add(Pattern.quote(thisObject.fullName)); field = lookup(objectSearchToken, objectName); // search file B if(field == null) // not found in file B { lookupReset(false); // initialise scanner to check file C objectName.clear(); // not using the full name String[] tokens = thisObject.fullName.split(id.delimiter().pattern()); for(String s : tokens) objectName.add(Pattern.quote(s)); field = lookup(objectSearchToken, objectName); // search file C lookupReset(true); // back to file B } else { /* found it, file B specific processing here */ } if(field != null) // found it in B or C thisObject.ID = field; } The objectName tokens are all uppercase words with possible hyphens or apostrophes in them, separated by spaces. Much like a person's name. As per a comment, I will pre-compile the regex for my objectSearchToken, which is just [\r\n]+. What's ending up happening in file C is, every single line is being checked, even the 95% of lines which don't contain an ID number and object name at the start. Would it be quicker to use ^[\r\n]+.*(objectname) instead of two separate regexes? It may reduce the number of _match executions. The more general case of that would be, concatenate all tokensBefore with all tokensAfter, and put a .* in the middle. It would need to be matching backwards through the file though, otherwise it would match the correct line but with a huge .* block in the middle with lots of lines. The above situation could be resolved if I could get java.util.Scanner to return the token previous to the current one after a call to findWithinHorizon. I have another usage scenario. Will put it up asap.

  • Regular Expressions Quick Reference

    - by Jan Goyvaerts
The Regular-Expressions.info website has a new quick reference to regular expressions that lists all of the regex syntax in one single table along with a link to the tutorial section that explains the syntax. The quick reference is ordered by syntax whereas the full reference tables are ordered by feature. There are multiple entries for some of the syntax as different regex flavors may use the same syntax for different features. Use the quick reference if you’ve seen some syntax in somebody else’s regex and you have no idea what feature that syntax is for. Use the full reference tables if you already know the feature you want but forgot which syntax to use. Of course, an even quicker reference is to paste your regex into RegexBuddy, select the application you’re working with, and click on the part of the regex you don’t understand. RegexBuddy then selects the corresponding node in its regex tree which summarizes exactly what the syntax you clicked on does in your regex. If you need more information, press F1 or click the Explain Token button to open the relevant page in the regex tutorial in RegexBuddy’s help file.

  • Split a long JSON string into lines in Ruby

    - by David J.
First, the background: I'm writing a Ruby app that uses SendGrid to send mass emails. SendGrid uses a custom email header (in JSON format) to set recipients, values to substitute, etc. SendGrid's documentation recommends splitting up the header so that the lines are shorter than 1,000 bytes. My question, then, is this: given a long JSON string, how can I split it into lines < 1,000 so that lines are split at appropriate places (i.e., after a comma) rather than in the middle of a word? This is probably unnecessary, but here's an example of the sort of string I'd like to split: X-SMTPAPI: {"sub": {"pet": ["dog", "cat"]}, "to": ["[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]", "[email protected]"]} Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

  • RowFilter.regexFilter multiple columns

    - by twodayslate
I am currently using the following to filter my JTable RowFilter.regexFilter( Pattern.compile(textField.getText(), Pattern.CASE_INSENSITIVE).toString(), columns ); How do I format my textField or filter so if I want to filter multiple columns I can do that. Right now I can filter multiple columns but my filter can only be of one of the columns An example might help my explanation better: Name Grade GPA Zac A 4.0 Zac F 1.0 Mike A 4.0 Dan C 2.0 The text field would contain Zac A or something similar and it would show the first Zac row if columns was int[]{0, 1}. Right now if I do the above I get nothing. The filter Zac works but I get both Zac's. A also works but I would then get Zac A 4.0 and Mike A 3.0. I hope I have explained my problem well. Please let me know if you do not understand.

  • Problem with redirecting *.domain.com & domain.com to www.domain.com for HTTPS

    - by Mat E.
We have a site I'll call acme.com. Most of the time you see http://www.acme.com and sometimes we redirect you to https://www.acme.com. We want to redirect anyone going to http://acme.com or http://*.acme.com to http://www.acme.com, and the same for https. (It's mainly to avoid the alert you get if you go to https://acme.com instead of https://www.acme.com) Our vhost file is at the end of the post. It works nicely except for one strange behavior: http://acme.com - successfully redirects to http://www.acme.com http://www.acme.com - successfully does not redirect http://foo.acme.com - successfully redirects to http://www.acme.com https://acme.com - successfully redirects to https://www.acme.com https://www.acme.com - successfully does not direct https://foo.acme.com - ERROR - redirects to http://www.acme.com It's this last result I can't fathom. I've tried a lot of trial and error solutions from Google & Stack Overflow but nothing seems to change it. Even if we swap the order of the configurations (so that 443 is before 80) it still redirects https://foo.acme.com to http://www.acme.com We are running Apache/2.2.12 on Ubuntu. Here's the configuration file: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.acme.com ServerAlias acme.com *.acme.com ServerSignature On DocumentRoot /var/www/acme.com/public RailsEnv 'production' PassengerHighPerformance on <Directory /var/www/acme.com/public> AllowOverride all Options -MultiViews </Directory> SSLEngine Off CustomLog /var/log/apache2/acme.log combined ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/acme-error.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, alert, emerg. • postgres - remove whitespace from field?

    - by n00b0101
I imported a bunch of data using pgloader, and am now seeing that there's a bunch of whitespace (both spaces and tabs) inside of the fields. Is there a way to quickly update the fields to remove it from the beginning, the end, and the middle? I know there's TRIM, but that won't work for me... As an added problem... I only want to remove double spaces and replace it with a single space, but there might be 5 or 6 spaces in a row, and I'd prefer not to have to rerun a replace query until they're all ok? I was looking at regex_replace, but, I'm not sure how to make certain that it removes it from the middle of a string as well...
