• CSS - background-size: cover; not working in Firefox

The code works on Chrome(Android + PC) and even the stock Android browser, but NOT Firefox(Android + PC). Is there any good alternative to it? Why is it not working anyways? Googled this issue a lot of times, but no one else seems to have this problem. Is it just me? In any case, how do I fix it? There are quite some questions on SO about it too, but none of them provide a legitimate solution, so can someone just tell me if they have background-size: cover; issues on firefox too? So basically tell me 3 things: 1. Why is it happening? 2. What is a good alternative to it? 3. Is this happening to you too? On Firefox browsers of course. • Core Data to-many relationship in code

  I have three entities: Session, User and Test. A session has 0-many users and a user can perform 0-6 tests. (I say 0 but in the real application always at least 1 is required, at least 1 user for a session and at least 1 test for a user. But I say 0 to express an empty start.) All entities have their own specific data attributes too. A user has a name, A session has a name, a test has six values to be filled in by the user, and so on. But my issue is with the relationships. How do I set multiple users and have them added to one session (same goes for multiple tests for one user). How do I show the content in a right way? How do I show a session that has multiple users and these users having completed multiple tests? • Writing all the html of a document with jquery instead of in the page body?

  I'm a UI person currently working on a web application, where most of the people I work with are back end developers. I'm currently at a disagreement with them about whether or not the above is a prudent thing to do. This application doe use quite a bit of JavaScript, and wouldn't even work without it unfortunately. This being the case, One of the back end developers that I'm working with is claiming that pages could and even SHOULD be build completely with JavaScript or jquery. This caught me completely off guard. We're talking about div tags, lists, background images and text here. I'm trying to explain to him that this isn't the right way to do things at all, and from a best practices perspective: content(html) should be separate from presentation(css), and behavior(script etc.). I know that it's possible to write html in jquery, although I haven't done it, but am I wrong in my thinking that this isn't the way things should be done. Is it even possible to write ALL the code with jquery? would love to hear any thoughts either way, as I will be discussing this with him again tomorrow.

  I've got a silverlight 2 app with a Datagrid and a button for exporting it to Excel by making a trip back to the server. I can create an HTML string representing the datagrid. I'd like to attach this string to an html element, setting MIME type=application/vnd.ms-excel and have a prompt show up asking if I'd like to open or save the xls file. I've heard about using ob_start() at the beginning of content, but that's not a very specific instruction...I tried placing it at the beginning of homepage.php (just before the html tag) and that didn't fix anything. I'm new to PHP (a few days in, and new to web-app dev in general). To be honest, it blows my mind that I can't just change which page I am on, via php without bending over backwards...

  Possible Duplicate: How much do you [really] work a day When I started working (not so long ago), I was very conscientious about really working. If I didn't work for 10 minutes at a time, I felt like I was cheating. But as I started to look around me, I realized that I was the only one... and most of my coworkers were spending a big percentage of their time browsing the internet or playing solitaire. I started to slack off a little more than usual... while still basically getting all my work done. But while I do all that's required of me, and usually quickly, I no longer beg for work to fill up my spare time; I'm content to do what I'm told and play around when no one makes sure I'm busy enough. Which means that I'm often bored and underutilized. (Which I was even when I begged for work - people are pretty laid back about the workload and don't seem to realize how much I can get done if pushed to the fullest.) But I was just talking to a friend who graduated with me and also recently started working... and she came to me with the same concerns about slacking. She's working remotely, which means there are often gaps in communication when she can't really get anything done... And she's feeling guilty about it. Which made me rethink the whole thing... So, as workers, how many hours, out of the 8 standard average, are you actually working (honestly)? And, as bosses, how many hours do you expect your workers to work? And from an ethical standpoint, how much free time, or space out time, can workers have during the day without being considered to be "cheating" their office of labor and money?

• Retrieving the first picture with a HTML parser

  Hey guys, (Not a native english speaker) I'm doing a personal project in PHP in which I use the Simple HTML Parser to parse the HTML of a given URL and retrieve the first image in a DIV that have a specific ID or class (maincontent, content, main, wrapper, etc. - it's all in an array) and ignore ads. The goal is to take this image and make a thumbnail with it, pretty much like on Digg and others. I thought everything was working fine until I tried my script with the website Snopes ("http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/luckycoyote.asp" <- this page more exactly). The source of the first image it gets is: " graphics/luckycoyote1.jpg ". So far, to correct this problem I created a little function that gets the domain name of the given URL and insert it before the IMG's source attribute. So for sites like Snopes.com, it gives me: "http://www.snopes.com/graphics/luckycoyote1.jpg" ... while the real URL for this image is "http://www.snopes.com*/photos/animals/graphics/luckycoyote1.jpg*" (or, more precisely: " http://graphics1.snopes.com/photos/animals/graphics/luckycoyote1.jpg " - note the subdomain here). So my main question is: how can I externally/dynamically retrieve the full URL address of an image ("absolute path") when I am only given the "relative path"? I'm pretty sure this is possible, since when I paste the link in Facebook's "What are you doing?" field for example, it gives me the correct path to the image while on the website, the source of the image is only (example) "image/photo/example.jpg". • Removing index.php on MAMP

  this questions was asked before and has had many responses. The problem is nothing i tried worked. Background: i use MAMP and all of my web project are located under WebProjects which I relocated out of its standard location within the MAMP folder in Applications. so my structure is something like this: Documents/WebProjects/GreatSite/Application/... What happened so far: my understanding is that removing index.php can be done either through httpd.conf or .htaccess. anytime i touched httpd.conf, Apache refuses to start. I tried various edits to .htaccess including the one in codeigniter.com/wiki/mod-rewrite and the last one from a post on SO which is this: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?/$1 [L] this give me the following error when i access the site: An Error Was Encountered Unable to determine what should be displayed. A default route has not been specified in the routing file. I have updated config.php to have $config['index_page'] = ''; and i have placed the .htaccess file in the GreatSite folder. One other note, my CI system folder is up a level from GreatSite. Not sure if this has any impact. also, apache has the module loaded. so, I'm hoping someone has successfully done this on MAMP and could provide direction specifically around the content of their .htaccess (or even httpd.conf), it's location and any other mods they had to make to get this going. thanks

• PHP SDK Requires two logins...doesn't recognize first

  I am using the following code to authenticate whether users are logged in or not. While users can log in, they have to click the login button twice. Additionally, sometimes even after they click the log-in button twice, my "user info" part of the page (earlier in the page than the content) shows them as logged out while the actual page shows them as logged in. Here is the code. • Strangest LINQ to SQL case I have ever seen

  OK, so this is the strangest issue in .net programming I have ever seen. It seems that object fields are serialized in .net web services in order of field initialization. It all started with Flex not accepting SOAP response from .net web service. I have found out that it was due to the order of serialized fields was statisfying the order of fields in declared serializable class. It had something to do with generic lists and LINQ to SQL but I can't find out what. This one is really hard to reproduce. Example to get the idea: [Serializable] public class SomeSample { public int A; public int B; public int C; } I was querying some data tables within asmx web service using linq and returning list of SomeSample objects: var r = (from ...... select new SomeSample { A = 1, C = 3 }).ToList(); Now the list was once more iterated and B field was applied some value (ex. 2). However the returned soap envelope contained following excerpt: <A>1</A><C>3</C><B>2</B> Please notice the order of serialization. If I initially initialized all fields: var r = (from ...... select new SomeSample { A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 }).ToList(); object was serialized in correct order. I must add, that in both cases the debugger shows exactly the same content of "r" variable. Am I losing my mind or is this normal behavior? Thanks in advance.

  This is my very first php code and I can't seem to get it to work. (I'm using Eclipse) <html> <body> <?php echo 'Hello World!'; $txt = "I <3 you!"; $num = 19; ?> </html> </body> When I run it (http://localhost/Assignment3.0/index.php), I get: Not Found The requested URL /Assignment3.0/index.php was not found on this server. Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80 But when I run this (http://localhost/), I get: It works! This is the default web page for this server. The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet. So what could be the problem? Where's my "Hello World!"? Also, for Stackoverflow formatting, how do I start a new line w/o adding a blank line in between?

  I’ve read the manual on URI routing and views and something is not clicking with me. In my views folder, I have a subfolder called products. In there is a file called product_view. In my controller, I have: function index() { $data['title'] = 'Product Overview'; $data['main_content'] = 'products/product_view'; $this->load->view('templates/main.php', $data); } The template loads a header view, a footer view and a navigation view, plus the view as a main content variable. In my URI routing, I have: $route['products/product-overview'] = 'products/product_view']; This causes a 404 error when I try to go to domain.com/products/product-overview. Do I need to do something with my .htaccess? If so, what? • JQUERY - how to get updated value after ajax removes data from within it?

  I have a an element with thumbnails. I allow users to sort their display order (which fires off an update to the DB via ajax). I also allow them to delete images (which, after deletion, fires off a request to update the display order for all remaining images). My problem is with binding or live I think, but I don't know where to apply it. The array fired off upon delete contains ALL the ids for the images that were there on page load. The issue is that after they delete an image the array STILL contains the original ids (including the one that was deleted) so it is obviously not refreshing the value of the element after ajax has removed things from inside it. I need to tell it to go get the refreshed contents... From what I have been reading, this is normal but I don't understand how to tie it into my routine. I need to trigger the mass re-ordering after any deletion. • Sliding div in jquery

  I am trying to make a toolbar type section on the top of my site. I just need one div that will be hidden by default, and a button that will be hanging off the bottom of that div. When it is clicked, the div should slide down (with the button still on bottom). And upon clicking, it should slide back up. Here is what I currently have: <div id="account_toolbar" style="background-color:#fff;"> <div id="toolbar_contents" style="display:none;"> This is the account toolbar so far </div> <div id="button" style="background-color: #ff0000;"><%= image_tag "templates/_global/my_account.png", :id => "my_account_btn", :style => "float: right; margin-right: 100px;" %></div> </div> The image tag is using ruby/rails syntax, so pay no attention to that. It will render like any other image tag. Here is the jquery i'm using: $('#my_account_btn').click(function () { $('#toolbar_contents').slideToggle(); }); So, this is actually working for the most part. My problem however is that the spacing where the toolbar content div goes, pushes the account button down. When it slides up or down it temporarily attaches itself to the bottom of the div, then jumps back down once it is finished sliding (leaving a gap between the bottom of the hidden div and the top of the account button). • Migrating just article contect of Joomla 1.0 to 2.5.x / 3.x?

  I have a simple website using Joomla 1.0.15, just having articles in some categories. As i want to install or remove components from admin area, i got : "You are not authorised to view this resource" or something like that. This is uncommon, this site is about 5 years old, and never got error message like that. I think my website is hacked ?? I have set safe_mode = off in php.ini, turn of sh404sef, removing .htaccess file etc ... and it still does not work. Then i try to upgrade to Joomla 2.5.x / 3.x . I found that i must migrate to Joomla 1.5.x first, then from there to 2.5.x. I got problem installing "migration.zip" component in my Joomla 1.0.x (always alert/err message pop up is shown). Is there another way to migrate the website ? May be just get the article section, category, article id and the content of Joomla 1.0.x , then import it to Joomla 2.5.x / 3.x ? I don't need components, modules, mambots (if any) of the old site. How to do it ? Thanks

• why would i get a different views when called from different controller actions in asp.net-mvc

  I have 2 different controller actions. As seen below, one calls the same view as the other one. The fitness version has a bunch of jquery ui tabs. public ActionResult FitnessByTab(string tab, DateTime entryDate) { return View("Fitness", GetFitnessVM(DateTime.Today.Date)); } public ActionResult Fitness() { return View(GetFitnessVM(DateTime.Today.Date)); } private FitnessVM GetFitnessVM(DateTime dt) { FitnessVM vm = new FitnessVM(); vm.Date = dt; // a bunch of other date that comes from a database return vm; } the issue is that on the action FitnessByTab() the tabs dont load correctly but on the Fitness() it loads fine. How could this be as my understanding is that they would be going through the same code path at that point. As you can see i am hard coded both to the same date to make sure its not a different date causing the issue. EDIT Issues has been solved. It was the relative referencing of all my links. I didn't get any issues until i used firebug that highlighted some missing references due to "../../" instead of Url.Content("

  I'm using a virtual keyboard. I have a checkbox that controls whether the virtual keyboard is displayed or not. The thing is that I don't understand how to disable it. I try to unbind it but it doesn't work...   I need to check on disabling JavaScript if the user disabled JavaScript from browser or firewall or any other place he will never show the form. I have lots of search and solutions, but unfortunately didn't got the right one. - Using style with no-script tag: This one could be broke with removing style... <noscript> <style type="text/css"> .HideClass { display:none; } </style> </noscript> The past code will work just fine but there is lots of problems in no-script tag as here Beside that i don't want to redirect user with no-script tag too...Beside that i can quickly stop loading the page to broke this meta or disable Meta tag from IE: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; URL=Frm_JavaScriptDisable.aspx" /> Another way to redirect user with JavaScript but this will work let's say for 99% of users and this one isn't lovely way and will slow down the website... window.location="http://www.location.com/page.aspx"; Is there is any other ideas or suggestions to secure working with JavaScript...and prevent user from entering the website or see my form except when JavaScript enabled...

• How to remove background of a image and copy into another?

In this idea, the task is: create a image from a JPEG and remove the white background, than create another image from another JPEG, than create the final image by adding the second as a background, and copying the first one over this background preserving the transparent area created, of course. So the copy is failing or the white were never removed... I may create a PNG with transparent background, but will be interesting to learn how to make it dynamically, don't you think? Any ideas?

• In Maven 2, Is it possible to specify a mirror for everything, but allow for failover to direct repo

  I understand that part of the appeal of setting up a Maven mirror, such as the following: <mirror> <id>nexus</id> <name>Maven Repository</name> <mirrorOf>*</mirrorOf> <url>http://server:8081/nexus/content/groups/public</url> </mirror> ... is that the documentation states, "You can force Maven to use a single repository by having it mirror all repository requests." However, is this also an indication that by having a * mirror set up each workstation [b]must[/b] be forced to go through the mirror? I ask because I would like each workstation to failover and connect directly to whatever public repositories it knows about in the event that Nexus can't resolve a dependency or plugin. (In a perfect world, each developer has the access necessary to add additional proxy repositories as needed. However, sometimes that access isn't available; sometimes the Nexus server goes down; sometimes it suffers a Java heap error.) Is this "mirror but go ahead and connect directly to public repos" failover configuration possible in Maven 2? Will it be in Maven 3?
