• Setting a parameter as a list for an IN expression

  Whenever I try to set a list as a parameter for use in an IN expression I get an Illegal argument exception. Various posts on the internet seem to indicate that this is possible, but it's certainly not working for me. I'm using Glassfish V2.1 with Toplink. • How to intercept, parse and compile?

  This is a problem I've been struggling to solve for a while. I need a way to either replace code in the method with a parsed code from the template at compile time (PostSharp comes to mind) or to create a dynamic proxy (Linfu or Castle). So given a source code like this [Template] private string GetSomething() { var template = [%=Customer.Name%] } I need it to be compiled into this private string GetSomething() { MemoryStream mStream = new MemoryStream(); StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(mStream,System.Text.Encoding.UTF8); writer.Write(@"" ); writer.Write(Customer.Name); StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(mStream); writer.Flush(); mStream.Position = 0; return sr.ReadToEnd(); } It is not important what technology is used. I tried with PostSharp's ImplementMethodAspect but got nowhere (due to lack of experience with it). I also looked into Linfu framework. Can somebody suggest some other approach or way to do this, I would really appreciate. My whole project depends on this.

• T4MVC and duplicate controller names in different areas

  In my application I have controller named Snippets both in default area (in application root) and in my area called Manage. I use T4MVC and custom routes, like this: routes.MapRoute( "Feed", "feed/", MVC.Snippets.Rss() ); And I get this error: Multiple types were found that match the controller named 'snippets'. This can happen if the route that services this request ('{controller}/{action}/{id}/') does not specify namespaces to search for a controller that matches the request. If this is the case, register this route by calling an overload of the 'MapRoute' method that takes a 'namespaces' parameter. The request for 'snippets' has found the following matching controllers: Snippets.Controllers.SnippetsController Snippets.Areas.Manage.Controllers.SnippetsController I know that there are overloads for MapRoute that take namespaces argument, but there are no such overloads with T4MVC support. May be I'm missing something? The possible syntax can be: routes.MapRoute( "Feed", "feed/", MVC.Snippets.Rss(), new string[] {"Snippets.Controllers"} ); or, it seems quite good to me to have namespace as T4MVC property: routes.MapRoute( "Feed", "feed/", MVC.Snippets.Rss(), new string[] {MVC.Snippets.Namespace} ); Thanks in advance!

• Hibernate query for multiple items in a collection

  I have a data model that looks something like this: public class Item { private List<ItemAttribute> attributes; // other stuff } public class ItemAttribute { private String name; private String value; } (this obviously simplifies away a lot of the extraneous stuff) What I want to do is create a query to ask for all Items with one OR MORE particular attributes, ideally joined with arbitrary ANDs and ORs. Right now I'm keeping it simple and just trying to implement the AND case. In pseudo-SQL (or pseudo-HQL if you would), it would be something like: select all items where attributes contains(ItemAttribute(name="foo1", value="bar1")) AND attributes contains(ItemAttribute(name="foo2", value="bar2")) The examples in the Hibernate docs didn't seem to address this particular use case, but it seems like a fairly common one. The disjunction case would also be useful, especially so I could specify a list of possible values, i.e. where attributes contains(ItemAttribute(name="foo", value="bar1")) OR attributes contains(ItemAttribute(name="foo", value="bar2")) -- etc. Here's an example that works OK for a single attribute: return getSession().createCriteria(Item.class) .createAlias("itemAttributes", "ia") .add(Restrictions.conjunction() .add(Restrictions.eq("ia.name", "foo")) .add(Restrictions.eq("ia.attributeValue", "bar"))) .list(); Learning how to do this would go a long ways towards expanding my understanding of Hibernate's potential. :)

• Is the order of params important in NHibernate?

  If I have an int parameter followed by a string parameter in a sproc I get the following error: Input string was not in the correct format However, if I switch those parameters in the sproc than I get the result set I expect. Are params sorted by data type, or do I have to do anything special in my config file? • How to set focus to a web control in ASP.NET

  Question: What is the best way to set focus to a web control in ASP .NET. I can do it, but it's ugly. I have a web control wrapped in a web control hosted on a web page. So, if you do a view | source on the page the id is something like WrapperControl_Control_TextBox. I've tried the "tried and true" Javascript methods of grabbing the element and setting it's focus: document.getElementByID( "WrapperControl_Control_TextBox" ).focus(); and it didn't work. I'm not sure why. I know I could possibly do: document.getElementById( "<%= TextBox.ClientID %" ).focus(); too, I think. This won't work because of another totally separate error based on the fact you can't dynamically add controls to a header if there is a "<% %" in the page. GAH. In the "bottom-most" control, I've tried setting the focus (TextBox.Focus() in Page_Load) and that doesn't work either. Anyway, the way that works is by simply taking the ControlsCollection of the Page, grabbing the control I need from that, getting it's collection, grabbing the next lower control and so forth. I only have to do this seven times. So I have eight foreach loops.   Hi, I am currently building a dynamic url tab system that user can say what urls they want to be displayed on a tabpage control. In the database i have the following columns. userID, int URLName var Enabled bit I am pulling the data back ok but what i am trying do is populate a checkbox list with the urlname and its status on a user options page so they can say what tabs they want displayed. I have wrote the following methods to get the urls and create the checkboxes however i keep getting the following error. ex = {"InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'index'.\r\nParameter name: index"} It reads the first row ok but when it hits the 2nd row that is being returned i get that error. Has anyone got any ideas? • VB.net httpwebrequest For loop hangs every 10 or so iterations

  Hello, I am trying to loop through an array and perform an httpwebrequest in each iteration. The code seems to work, however it pauses for a while (eg alot longer than the set timeout. Tried setting that to 100 to check and it still pauses) after every 10 or so iterations, then carries on working. I tried Jad, JD-GUI and Fernflower, and all of them got at least one of the call wrong (i. e. the program printed "Wrong!" at least once) Is there really no java decompiler that can infer the right casts so that it will not call the wrong overload?

  I'm attempting to remove Component elements from the XML below that have File children with the extension "config." I've managed to do this part, but I also need to remove the matching ComponentRef elements that have the same IDs as these Components. <Fragment> <DirectoryRef Id="MyWebsite"> <Component Id="Comp1"> <File Source="Web.config" /> </Component> <Component Id="Comp2"> <File Source="Default.aspx" /> </Component> </DirectoryRef> </Fragment> <Fragment> <ComponentGroup Id="MyWebsite"> <ComponentRef Id="Comp1" /> <ComponentRef Id="Comp2" /> </ComponentGroup> </Fragment> Based on other SO answers, I've come up with the following XSLT to remove these Component elements: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="xml" indent="yes" /> <xsl:template match="Component[File[substring(@Source, string-length(@Source)- string-length('config') + 1) = 'config']]" /> <xsl:template match="@*|node()"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="@*|node()"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Unfortunately, this doesn't remove the matching ComponentRef elements. The XSLT will remove the component with the Id "Comp1" but not the ComponentRef with Id "Comp1". How do I achieve this using XSLT 1.0?

  Recently i've found myself writing a lot of methods with what i can only think to call debugging scaffolding. Here's an example: public static void printArray (String[] array, boolean bug) { for (int i = 0; i<array.lenght; i++) { if (bug) System.out.print (i) ; //this line is what i'm calling the debugging scaffolding i guess. System.out.println(array[i]) ; } } in this method if i set bug to true, wherever its being called from maybe by some kind of user imput, then i get the special debugging text to let me know what index the string being printed as at just in case i needed to know for the sake of my debugging (pretend a state of affairs exists where its helpful). All of my questions more or less boil down to the question: is this a good idea? but with a tad bit more objectivity: Is this an effective way to test my methods and debug them? i mean effective in terms of efficiency and not messing up my code. Is it acceptable to leave the if (bug) stuff ; code in place after i've got my method up and working? (if a definition of "acceptability" is needed to make this question objective then use "is not a matter of programing controversy such as ommiting brackets in an if(boolean) with only one line after it, though if you've got something better go ahead and use your definition i won't mind) Is there a more effective way to accomplish the gole of making debugging easier than what i'm doing? Anything you know i mean to ask but that i have forgotten too (as much information as makes sense is appreciated).

  I am trying to figure out how to find the last entry of a string in multiple config files across a server. Each of the strings will be in the /home/***usernamewouldbehere/public_html/typo3conf/localconf.php file In short - the last entry in the config files will point to the database server the application is utilizing - and we need to know which accounts point to which db server. While I can run something like this - grep "$_db_host" /home/*/public_html/conf/localconf.php It does not really help much because it gives us way to much information ... and not what we really need. What i really need to know is the last entry of this string $_db_host = 'xx'; and to sort them out in an export file Since the config files may have multiple entries (example below) $_db_host = 'localhost'; $_db_host = '10.0.1.234'; It would be great to list in a file all of those that have the entry for 'localhost' and then list all of those that have the entry for '10.0.1.234' (or whichever server there may be there) but even if I need to do that manually that would be great. I am not sure how to get to it using Awk - ... and really stuck What I am hoping for is something that would be piped as follows db_host = localhost /home/username1/www/conf/localconf.php db_host = localhost / home/username2/public_html/conf/localconf.php db_host= '10.1.2.23' /home/username55/public_html/conf/localconf.php hoping that helps you help me :-)

  Hey guys, I'm writing a filter that will pick out items. I have a list of Objects. The objects contain a number, name and some other irrelevant items. At the moment, the list contains 200 items. When typing in a textbox, i'm looking if the string matches a part of the number/name of the objects in the list. If so, add them to the listbox. Here's the code for my textbox textchanged event : private void txtTelnumber_TextChanged(object sender, TextChangedEventArgs e) { lstOverview.Items.Clear(); string data = ""; foreach (ucTelListItem telList in _allUsers) { data = telList.User.H323 + telList.user.E164; if (data.Contains(txtTelnumber.Text)) lstOverview.Items.Add(telList); } } I sometimes see a little delay when entering a character, especially when i go from 4 records to 200 records (so when i had a filter and 4 records matched, and i backspace and the whole list appears again). My list is a list of usercontrols, cause i found it takes less time to load the usercontrols from a list, then to have to initialize a new usercontrol each time. Can i do something about the code, or is it just adding the usercontrol the listbox that causes the small delay (small delay = <1 sec)? Thanks in advance.

• Am I using Settings in .NET correctly?

  Here's what I'm doing. I have three properties: MomsBackground, DadsBackground and ChosenBackground. When Momsbackground is selected in the program, I set the ChosenBackground string according to what item the user has clicked (either "Mom" or "Dad"). Then on Form_Load() I use a switch case for the ChosenBackground string and according to that select This.BackgroundColor to MomsBackground or DadsBackground. • how to display my list with n amount on each line in Python

  im trying to display my list with 7 states on each line here is what i have so far, but it displays as one long string of all the states with quotes around each state. • Parsing JSON with GSON

  I'm having some trouble with GSON, mainly deserializing from JSON to a POJO. The title and id are always null. I'm sure I'm missing something, but I'm not sure what. Any idea? Thanks

• How does asp.net MVC remember my incorrect values on postback?

  This is working, but how??? I have a controller action for a post: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post )] public ActionResult Edit(Person person) { bool isvalid = ModelState.IsValid; etc. The Person object has a property BirthDate, type DateTime. When i enter some invalid data in the form, say 'blabla' which is obvious not a valid Datetime, it fills all the (other) Person properties with the correct data and the BirthDate property with a new blank DateTime. The bool isvalid has the value 'false'. So far so good. Then i do this: return View(p); and in the view i have this: <%= Html.TextBox("BirthDate", String.Format("{0:g}", Model.BirthDate)) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("BirthDate", "*") %> Ant there it comes: i EXPECTED the model to contain the new, blank DateTime because i didn't put any new data in. Second, when the View displays something, it must be a DateTime, because Model.BirthDate can't hold anything but a DateTime. But to my surprise, it shows a textbox with the 'blabla' value! (and the red * behind it) Which ofcourse is nice because the user can seee what he typed wrong, but how can that (blabla)string be transferred to the View in a DateTime field?

• ASP.NET MVC: Returning a view with querystring intact

  I'm creating a messaging web app in ASP.NET and are having some problems when displaying an error message to the user if they go to send a message and there is something wrong. A user can look through profiles of people and then click, 'send a message'. The following action is called (url is /message/create?to=username) and shows them a page where they can enter their message and send it: public ActionResult Create(string to) { ViewData["recipientUsername"] = to; return View(); } On the page that is displayed, the username is entered in to a hidden input field. When the user clicks 'send': [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Create(FormCollection collection, string message) { try { //do message stuff that errors out } catch { ModelState.AddModelErrors(message.GetRuleViolations()); //adding errors to modelstate } return View(); } So now the error message is displayed to the user fine, however the url is changed in that it no longer has the querystring (/message/create). Again, this would be fine except that when the user clicks the refresh button, the page errors out as the Create action no longer has the 'to' parameter. So I'm guessing that I need to maintain my querystring somehow. Is there any way to do this or do I need to use a different method altogether?

I'm not sure where this command needs to go and how to reference the cell to update the value in the database.
