  • JavaNullPointerException/Layout Error when working with lists and ListView on Android

    Hey, I'm trying to implement a ListView on Android, which will print the data retrieved from the SQLite Database. So I want to retrieve a lot of columns from the table and add this to a list, so I will print this list as a ListView. For this I created a method that will select all the columns from the table in a separate class, and I will print the ListView in a ListActivity. I want to retrieve 6 columns of the table, which is represented by the ids 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9.   • looking for a clock widget that is unaffected by the mouse

    Between screenlets, cairo-dock widgets and plasma-widgets. One of them's gotta have this function; A widget that hovers above everything on the desktop but is completely unaffected by the mouse. I would use this by making a clock hover above everything and semi transparent. I also want to be able to click on windows underneath the clock. After some experimentation, the screenlets widgets do not do what I am asking. I can make them float above everything on the screen but I am not able to click on windows underneath them. I need the widget to be COMPLETELY unaffected by the mouse.

    Through Amazon Associates, you can create search widgets that have a place for a search term. In the admin, you can set the default search term, but that seems to be tied to the widget ID. I would like to be able to dynamically set the search term for the widget when it is displayed. How can I accomplish this?   • Volume widget issue with sound card hotplugging

    When plugging a USB sound card may sometimes cause the current audio output (ie. Banshee and PC speakers) to switch immediately. But the volume controls (sound widget in systray, volume keyboard keys) are stuck on the old sound card. Plug a soundcard and amplifier while the volume is set to ultra high for the pc speakers. You can't control the volume without opening the sound settings or alsamixer. This could probably cause neighbour disturbance in some countries. You can't control it with the sound widget of the systray nor the volume keyboard keys. How to disable auto switch of hardware audio output, or enable auto switch of software volume controls ? It would be great to make the software behaviour consistent with the hardware's. Ubuntu 11.10 vanilla up to date.

    I'm interesting in incorporating the Android UI pattern called "Quick Action". Basically, it's a context menu that doesn't cover up the data that is being acted on. I'd like to implement this but I cannot find an API to help me out or some sample code.     I'm on the verge of starting a new web application that is likely to have need for both standard, simple dropdowns as well as more feature-rich autocomplete controls for longer lists of values, better type ahead behavior, etc. I'm planning on using the jQuery UI Autocomplete widget along with some combobox behavior as detailed here: http://jqueryui.com/demos/autocomplete/#combobox My concern is that "out of the box" the Autocomplete widget looks very different than a standard control. Since is not easy to skin/style, I'm hoping to adjust the Autocomplete to look & feel as close to the as possible, except in the cases where the increased functionality justifies a different L&F. What is the best way to go about reskinning the Autocomplete to look more like a ? Has this already been done somewhere? Should I use jQuery UI theming? Other options?

  • how to center jquery dialog with ui 1.8?

    I'm having trouble getting the jquery ui 1.8 dialog to center I've tried leaving the options default, and setting position: 'center'. When the dialog displayed, the browser window gets scrolled down to the centre of the page, and the dialog is positioned at the bottom left of the window. This worked fine with jquery 1.3.2 and ui 1.7.2. Is there something new I need to do with this version?
