• Windows 7 ISO not booting from DVD drive?

  I've downloaded Windows 7 x64 Pro Upgrade from the volume license center. I've also downloaded the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. I'll burn it using this tool and while it will show up in Explorer as if the burn worked correctly, when I try to boot to the DVD on startup, I get a "No operating system found" error (this is a newer Lenovo). My Ubuntu Live CD works fine, am I missing something? I read that there's problems if you try to burn a 64bit copy from a 32bit computer, but I'm currently running Win7x64, so that shouldn't be a problem. I've also tried burning with ImgBurn and Windows 7 built ISO burner, no success. Obviously there's a step I'm missing here, what gives?

• No wireless adapter in msi u200

  I have a MSi u200, and the weird thing was that I was using this normally before, then after a few minutes all of a sudden it couldn't find the wifi signal from my house. I did some troubleshooting and a bit of search in the control panel, and it seems like my hardware is missing. :( I can't even turn on the wireless light using Fn+F8, so my suspicions about the missing hardware strengthened. I tried searching for DIY fixes, but I found out that the wireless card is actually built-in deeper, unlike the RAM cards and the hard drive where you can either replace or add more cards. What do I do?? As of the moment, I can get connected to my wifi here at home using a wireless adapter via usb, and it's working. So my guess about the hardware problem seems correct. HELP!!! Thanks!

• SVNNotify Where is it? how do I find it?

  I am on ubuntu. ok first of all I am running a post-commit script. I need the path to svnnotify to run it. The path the turotial I am reading has it as /usr/local/bin/svnnotify but nothing is in that location on my computer. I tried it anyways and I get something like: Warning post-commit hook failed: not found so I think I need to replace /usr/local/bin/svnnotify with the correct path to svnnotify. Well I do a search (Places>Search for Files) for svnnotify and nothing comes up. I know svnnotify is installed becuase if I open a command line and run svnnotify it tells me I am missing the required path argument. So how can it be installed if its not in the file system anywhere? I don't really know how linux works, its very new to me, so I am confused. Is there something I am missing?

• How do I force an exchange database to become "active"?

  We had a catastrophic failure where all that remains is a single edb file. No backups. No log files. The database that remains is on the "passive" copy. The "active" copy is missing, but the server is active. The Exchange console reports that the edb file needs to be reseeded, however there is no source to reseed from. How do I make the "invalid" database file (missing logs) valid? How do I make exchange recognize this as a valid database to use as a primary?

• Step by Step Install of MAAS and JUJU

  I am working on understanding the pieces that I am missing in being able to deploy Juju across the other MAAS nodes. I don't know If I have a step out of place, or missing a few. The server owns the router which handles the DHCP and DNS. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. When I am at the end I will either get a 409 error, or arbitrary pick tools 1.16.0 error. It is worth mentioning that local, and aws works fine. Hopefully with all of these steps spelled out it will help someone else along the way too. • SharePoint and COMException (0x80004005): Cannot complete this action

  I ran into a small issue today working on a deployment.  We were moving a custom ASP.NET control from my development environment into a SharePoint layout page on a staging environment .  I was expecting some minor issues to arise since I had developed the control in an ASP.NET website project, but after getting everything moved over we got an obscure COMException error the that looked like this: Cannot complete this action. Please try again. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Cannot complete this action. [COMException (0x80004005): Cannot complete this action. .Lengthy stack trace goes here. Everything in the custom control was built using managed code, so we weren't sure why a COMException would suddenly appear. The control made use of an ITemplate to define its UI, so there was a lot of markup and binding code inside the template. As such, we started taking chunks of the template out of the layout page and eventually the error went away.  It was being caused by a section of code where we were calling a custom utility method inside some binding code: <%# WebUtility.FormatDecimal(.) %> Solution: It turns out that we were missing an Assembly and Import directive at the top of the page to let the page know where to find this method.  After adding these to the page, the error went away and everything worked great.  So a COMException (0x80004005) Cannot complete this action error is just SharePoint's friendly way of letting you know you're missing an assembly or imports reference.

• Creating block devices for openstack deployment using MAAS and juju (nova-volume deployment)

  Hi, I'm currently trying to get a openstack deployment working by using MAAS with 9 nodes and juju. To do this I found this guide, working with ubuntu 12.04 LTS https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuCloudInfrastructure and followed it as good as I can. After a vigorous amount of trial and error I finally got to the point where I'm supposed to deploy nova-volume using the "custom" config file. However when my node is started and shows up as running in the "juju status" report the service reports the installation failed. I'm trying to install with juju jitsu by the way. I think it has something to do with the following statement in the openstack.cfg file : nova-volume: # This must be a free block device that is writable on the nova-volume host. block-device: "xvdb" overwrite: "true" I did some research and found that (at least I think) this refers to a Xen Virtual Drive/device, and because the device is not present on the node it's being deployed to, the installation fails. What I don't understand is how I am supposed to have such a block device available on a machine which was completely managed by MAAS. Does anyone here have any experience with this and knows of a way to solve this, or am I missing something big here. Some kind of missing link between the MAAS and a separate XEN host ?   The full error in Microsoft Visual Studio on a compile looks like this: error CS1548: Cryptographic failure while signing assembly 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Samples\Analysis Services\Programmability\AMO\AMOAdventureWorks\CS\StoredProcedures\obj\Debug\StoredProcedures.dll' This is likely due to a missing strong key pair value file. The easiest way to solve this problem is to create a new one. Navigate to:  Microsoft Visual Studio 2010>Visual Studio Tools>Visual Studio x64 Win64 Command Prompt (2010)  [if you aren't on an x64 box, pick another command prompt option that fits] Once the MS-Dos window displays, type in this statement: sn -k c:\SampleKey.snk Then copy the output *.snk file to project directory, or the *referenced directory. Remove the old reference to the *.snk file from the project. Add the paired key back to the project as an existing item. When you add back the *.snk file to the project, you will see that the *.snk file is no longer missing.   Our work is done!   *referenced directory: Pay attention to the original error message on compile. The *.snk file that is referenced may be in a directory path you aren't expecting--so you will still get the error unless you change the directory path or write the file to the directory the program is expecting to find the *.snk file.

  Have you noticed that the Properties Command has been removed from the Context Menu in Firefox 3.6? If you have been missing it here is how to get it back. Before With the newest version of Firefox you may have noticed a very useful command missing from the “Context Menu”. Here you can see that when we right clicked on the article link we were unable to “access” the properties for it… Same article and the same problem when trying to “access” the properties for one of the images. A proper index can improve the performance and a bad index can hamper the performance. Here is the script from my script bank which I use to identify unused indexes on any database. Please note, if you should not drop all the unused indexes this script suggest. This is just for guidance. You should not create more than 5-10 indexes per table. Additionally, this script sometime does not give accurate information so use your common sense. Any way, the scripts is good starting point. You should pay attention to User Scan, User Lookup and User Update when you are going to drop index.   Good evening. This problem occured when trying to update using the update manager. A problem occured so I cleared all the cache and tried to update once again this time in terminal, and it spat out: dpkg: error: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 6449 missing package name After opening up 'status' with gedit and going to line 6449, I found that nothing was on that line but the following was before and after it. This package contains the Mono System.Configuration library for CLI 4.0. • How can I reinstall XRandR without serious disruption to 12.04?

  This is the sequence that leads to xrandr going missing: Installed 12.04 on a system with a motherboard using the Intel G45 chipset and the E8400 Core 2 Duo and AMD Radeon HD 5450 video card. Installed fglrx when ubuntu prompted via Additional Drivers. Ran Catalyst (Administrative) to select multi-desktop and rebooted. Ran Catalyst (Administrative) to select Xinerama and rebooted. Answer yes to about 3 prompts that request to send bug reports to ubuntu. At this point Settings > Appearances no longer offers the widget that allows you to resize the Unity Launcher icons. Also Settings > Displays says randr extension is not present. BTW: This same sequence is repeatable, including the issues with the missing icon resizer and xrandr, so there is clearly bug fixing potential here. How can I get xrandr reinstalled without un-installing a large set of dependencies? I realize that if I un-install xrandr I will have the chance to re-install but the number of dependencies is large and so an un-install will cause many systems to be un-installed and I am afraid that will ruin Ubuntu 12.04. Hence, I'm looking for a more direct fix. I thought rebooting the .ISO disk and reinstalling would be a good fix but obviously not since this problem is repeatable.

• Where do I place XNA content pipeline references?

  I am relatively new to XNA, and have started to delve into the use of the content pipeline. I have already figured out that tricky issue of adding a game library containing classes for any type of .xml file I want to read. Here's the issue. I am trying to handle the reading of all XML content through use of an XMLHandler object that uses the intermediate deserializer. Any time reading of such data is required, the appropriate method within this object would be called. So, as a simple example, something like this would occur when a character levels: public Spell LevelUp(int levelAchived) { XMLHandler.FindSkillsForLevel(levelAchived); } This method would then read the proper .xml file, sending back the spell for the character to learn. However, the XMLHandler is having issues even being created. I cannot get it to use the using namespace of Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content.Pipeline. I get an error on my using statement in the XMLHandler class: using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content.Pipeline.Serialization.Intermediate; The error is a typical reference error: Type or namespace name "'Pipeline' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content' (are you missing an assembly reference?)" I THINK this is because this namespace is already referenced in my game's content. I would really have no issue placing this object within my game's content (since that is ALL it deals with anyways), but the Content project does not seem capable of holding anything but content files. In summary, I need to use the Intermediate Deserializer in my main project's logic, but, as far as I can make out, I can't safely reference the associated namespace for it outside of the game's content. I'm not a terribly well-versed programmer, so I may be just missing some big detail I've never learned here. How can I make this object accessible for all projects within the solution? I will gladly post more information if needed!

• DNS and VPN issues

  I recently purchased a year contract for a KVM 512MB VPS running Ubuntu 11.04. I'm having some issues setting up some things on it though - two in particular that I just can't for the life of me figure out. Okay, so I'm trying to setup pptpd as my VPN for my iPhone and my Mac when I'm out on wireless networks. I'm able to login and the chap authenticates but that's as far as I get, no domains will resolve and end up loading forever, I uncommented ms-dns lines as someone had recommended to me and changed the DNS servers to Googles public ones with no luck, is there something I'm missing? (It's probably staring me in the face.) My second issue is that I have managed to setup LAMP but am having a problem with my domain, I have pointed the DNS at 123-reg to my VPS's IP and the 'www .' resolves properly, but when I try to go to the domain without the 'www .' I get the apache landing page ("The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.") I'm pretty sure there's something I've gotta configure in Apache for the virtual host but I'm missing it. Apart from these minor set-backs I'm enjoying the low-level configuration options of having a VPS and love managing my own server. Thanks!

  This question already has an answer here: 'teamviewer depends on (…)' while trying to install TeamViewer 4 answers I was trying to install Teamviewer, but i was getting a dependencies error. I tried to install them but with no luck.. I think Mod's are not reading the questions trough when they mark as duplicate I'm getting this Error: Unpacking teamviewer (from teamviewer_linux_x64.deb) ... dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of teamviewer: teamviewer depends on lib32asound2; however: Package lib32asound2 is not installed. teamviewer depends on lib32z1; however: Package lib32z1 is not installed. teamviewer depends on ia32-libs; however: Package ia32-libs is not installed. dpkg: error processing teamviewer (--install): dependency problems - leaving unconfigured Errors were encountered while processing: teamviewer I tried sudo apt-get -f install but getting Package ia32-libs is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source However the following packages replace it: lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0 Package lib32asound2 is not available, but is referred to by another package. Clearly, List doesn't have traverse, so it must be implicitly converted to another type that does. Even though I spent a considerable amount of time trying to find out, I wasn't very successful. First I found that there is a method in scalaz.Traversable traverse[F[_], A, B] (f: (A) => F[B], t: T[A])(implicit arg0: Applicative[F]): F[T[B]] but clearly this is not it (although it's most likely that "my" traverse is implemented using this one). After a lot of searching, I grepped scalaz source codes and I found scalaz.MA's method traverse[F[_], B] (f: (A) => F[B])(implicit a: Applicative[F], t: Traverse[M]): F[M[B]] which seems to be very close. Still I'm missing to what List is converted in my example and if it uses MA.traverse or something else. The question is: What procedure should I follow to find out what exactly is called at d.traverse? Having even such a simple code that is so hard analyze seems to me like a big problem. Am I missing something very simple? How should I proceed when I want to understand such code that uses a lot of imported implicits? Is there some way to ask the compiler what implicits it used? Or is there something like Hoogle for Scala so that I can search for a method just by its name?

  Following the instructions on the pipelight installation page, I installed pipelight on Ubuntu 14.04. However, upon opening firefox the .wine-pipelight folder isn't present in my home folder, and I get the following errors: [PIPELIGHT:LIN:unknown] attached to process. • Understanding branching strategy/workflow correctly

  I'm using svn without branches (trunk-only) for a very long time at my workplace. I had discovered most or all of the issues related to projects which do not have any branching strategy. Unlikely this is not going to change at my workplace but for my private projects. For my private projects which most includes coworkers and working together at the same time on different features I like to have an robust branching strategy with supports long-term releases powered by git. I find out that the Atlassian Toolchain (JIRA, Stash and Bamboo) helped me most and it also recommending me an branching strategy which I like to verify for the team needs. The branching strategy was taken directly from Atlassian Stash recommendation with a small modification to the hotfix branch tree. All hotfixes should also merged into mainline. The branching strategy in words mainline (also known as master with git or trunk with svn) contains the "state of the art" developing release. Everything here was successfully checked with various automated tests (through Bamboo) and looks like everything is working. It is not proven as working because of possible missing tests. It is ready to use but not recommended for production. feature covers all new features which are not completely finished. Once a feature is finished it will be merged into mainline. Sample branch: feature/ISSUE-2-A-nice-Feature bugfix fixes non-critical bugs which can wait for the next normal release. Sample branch: bugfix/ISSUE-1-Some-typos production owns the latest release. hotfix fixes critical bugs which have to be release urgent to mainline, production and all affected long-term *release*es. Sample branch: hotfix/ISSUE-3-Check-your-math release is for long-term maintenance. Sample branches: release/1.0, release/1.1 release/1.0-rc1 I am not an expert so please provide me feedback. Which problems might appear? Which parts are missing or slowing down the productivity?

• Can't boot Windows Xp after intalling Ubuntu 12.04

  Here's the situation. I installed Ubuntu using the along side option. Everything went ok. When I restarted I went strait to Ubuntu and it worked beautifully. When I restarted and tried to enter windows, the loading screen appeared, and after 3 -4 seconds it restarted again. No error, no cursor waiting, no nothing. I looked on the internet for help and found several resources. I tried first lilo since it seemes that many people had they're issues solved with it. After lilo neither ubuntu nor Windows would start. I installed and used bootinfoscript. Now when I restart my computer I don't even get the windows loading screen, just Missing operating system Missing operation system Operating system not found that's it. I did not use the fixboot or fixmbr option because I don't have a windows cd cabable of seeing my hdd drivers. The usual XP windows setup tells me that I have no hdd. Please help, I don't know what to to next. This is my first time with Ubuntu or any Linux OS.
