• Custom array sorting based on instance properties

  I'm trying to perform a usort on an array inside an instance of a class. But the sort is dependent on the properties of said instance. Code (which doesn't work): class foo { private $array; private $key; private $dir; function sort() { usort($this->array, array("foo", "orderArray")); } function orderArray($a, $b) { return strcmp($a[$this->key], $b[$this->key]) * $this->dir; } } From the orderArray class, you can't access $key or $dir. The question is, how can I write this so I can?

• How to determine whether a dependency object implements a given dependency property (C# / WPF)

  I am working with the classes in the System.Windows.Documents namespace, trying to write some generic code that will conditionally set the value of certain dependency properties, depending on whether these properties exist on a given class. For example, the following method assigns an arbitrary value to the Padding property of the passed FrameworkContentElement: void SetElementPadding(FrameworkContentElement element) { element.SetValue(Block.PaddingProperty, new Thickness(155d)); } However, not all concrete implementations of FrameworkContentElement have a Padding property (Paragraph does but Span does not) so I would expect the property assignment to succeed for types that implement this property and to be silently ignored for types that do not. But it seems that the above property assignment succeeds for instances of all derivatives of FrameworkContentElement, regardless of whether they implement the Padding property. I make this assumption because I have always been able to read back the assigned value. I assume there is some flaw in the way I am assigning property values. What should I do to ensure that a given dependency property assignment is ignored by classes that do not implement that property? Many thanks for your advice. Tim

  I'm using Tomcat 6, and this is my logging.properties: handlers = org.apache.juli.FileHandler, java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler .level=FINE org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationContext.level = OFF org.apache.juli.FileHandler.level = ALL org.apache.juli.FileHandler.directory = ${catalina.base}/logs org.apache.juli.FileHandler.prefix = mylog. java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.level = FINE java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.formatter = java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter On the one hand, Tomcat seems to read this file, as it correctly saves the logfiles with the prefix "mylog" and prints only messages with log-level FINE and above. On the other hand, it keeps on writing log messages like this: Jun 8, 2010 9:53:30 PM org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationContext log SEVERE: Error writing messages ClientAbortException: java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe I actually wanted to suppress all log messages from this class, as they flood my logfile, and the error is irrelevant for me. • When Debugging in Xcode what does "out of scope" mean?

  I'm in xcode debugging my iphone application. when i get to a break point and I roll over my object and properties of that object say "out of scope" instead of their respective values. Here's what I do: I have inited a view with nib name (initwithnibname). Then set the property of that view to the object that I want. I have placed the breakpoint in the viewwillappear method. I rollover my reference to the variable that was is my property. All properties in the object say "out of scope" Does anyone know why this is happening?

  I'm just taking a look at CoffeeScript for the first time so bare with me if this is a dumb question. I'm familiar with the hidden pattern methodology however I'm still wrapping my head around object prototypes. I'm trying to create a basic class for controlling a section on my site. The problem I'm running into is losing defined class variables within a different scope. For example, the code below works fine and creates the properties within the object perfectly. However when I jump into a jQuery callback I lose all knowledge of the class variables storing some of the jQuery objects for multiple uses. • Modify cmd.exe properties using the command prompt

  Isn't that nicely recursive? I've got a portable command prompt on my external drive, and it has a nice .bat file to configure some initial settings, but I'd like more! Here's what I know how to set from .bat: Colors = (color XY) where x and y are hex digits for the predefined colors Prompt = (prompt $p$g) sets the prompt to "C:\etc\etc " the default prompt Title = (title "text") sets the window title to "text" Screen Size = (mode con: cols=XX lines=YY) sets the columns and lines size of the window Path = (SET PATH=%~d0\bin;%PATH%) sets up local path to my tools and appends the computer's path So that's all great. But there are a few settings I can't seem to set from the bat.   I have a class like this with a bunch of properties: class ClassName { string Name {get; set;} int Age {get; set;} DateTime BirthDate {get; set;} } I would like to print the name of the property and it's value using the value's ToString() method and the Property's name like this: ClassName cn = new ClassName() {Name = "Mark", Age = 428, BirthData = DateTime.Now} cn.MethodToPrint(); // Output // Name = Mark, Age = 428, BirthDate = 12/30/2010 09:20:23 PM Reflection is perfectly okay, in fact I think it is probably required. I'd also be neat if it could somehow work on any class through some sort of inheritance. I'm using 4.0 if that matters.

  Hey, I've bene working with Objective-C for a while now, and so far I have never really needed to craft my own classes, properly. I am a bit confused with the two arguments you can give the @property(a, b) declaration in a header file. When creating outlets to Interface Builder I usually do @property(nonatomic, retain) but I have no idea what this means. I'm writing a simple class which has a set of properties which will be set from the outside, like [instance setName:@"Bla Bla Bla"]; or I guess like instance.name = @"Bla@" but I would rather the first option. How would I declare this kind of property on a class? Thanks in advanced! Sorry for the n00bish question :-)

The web service gets document meta data from SharePoint, it running on a server where I cant debug but with logging I confirmed that the method enters and exits successfully. • NHibernate Criteria - How to filter on combination of properties

  I needed to filter a list of results using the combination of two properties. A plain SQL statement would look like this: SELECT TOP 10 * FROM Person WHERE FirstName + ' ' + LastName LIKE '%' + @Term + '%' The ICriteria in NHibernate that I ended up using was: ICriteria criteria = Session.CreateCriteria(typeof(Person)); criteria.Add(Expression.Sql( "FirstName + ' ' + LastName LIKE ?", "%" + term + "%", NHibernateUtil.String)); criteria.SetMaxResults(10); It works perfectly, but I'm not sure if it is the ideal solution since I'm still learning about NHibernate's Criteria API. What are the recommended alternatives? Is there something besides Expression.Sql that would perform the same operation? I tried Expression.Like but couldn't figure out how to combine the first and last names. Should I map a FullName property to the formula "FirstName + ' ' + LastName" in the mapping class? Should I create a read only FullName property on the domain object then map it to a column?

  I have three menus on this test web site. I am learning css and trying all the menus inherit all properties from menu class. The second one looks different and is not clickable. I am happy with the 3rd one, just want to make it horizontal and change its position bit. Could somebody tell me why the second menu is not click-able? how I can make the third menu vertical? I thought that display: block; for li of the 3rd menu would do the trick but I do not know the css path for that li.

• Upload documents using email and mapping properties of documents

  Hi, We have a requirement to upload documents to a specific SharePoint document library when a document is sent via email to a specific email address. I think SharePoint has this feature available. What I would like to know more importantly is mapping the information in the body of the email to the custom properties of the document. For example, if a custom field (property) is added to the document in SharePoint say - "Year". I provide the value of this property within the body of the email and attach the document in email. Is it possible that the provided value in the body of the email for the property is updated in SharePoint when the document is uploaded to SharePoint through email? We are using SharePoint 2007. • Phantom updates due to decimal precision on calculated properties

  This article describes my problem. I have several properties that are calculated. These are typed as decimal(9,2) in SQL Server and decimal in my C# classes. An example of the problem is: Object is loaded with a property value of 14.9 A calculation is performed and the property value is changed to 14.90393 When the session is flushed, NHibernate issues an update because the property is dirty Since the database field is decimal (9,2) the stored value doesn't change Basically a phantom update is issued every time this object is loaded. I don't want to truncate the calculations in my business objects because that tightly couples them to the database and I don't want to lose the precision in other calculations. I tried setting scale and precision or CustomType("Decimal(9,2)") in the mapping file but this appears to only affect schema generation. My only reasonable option appears to be creating an IUserType implementation to handle this. Is there a better solution?

  I've got a Windows Forms control that I'm wrapping with a WindowsFormsHost-derived class to access WPF's data binding functionality. The Forms control exposes properties that indicate its state, along with the standard property-changed event notifier. For example, a Zoom property on the Forms control is accompanied with a ZoomChanged event. In the WindowsFormsHost wrapper, I'm using a DependencyProperty to represent the underlying Windows Forms control property. Binding works as expected going to the control; however, I'm not sure how to correctly propogate property changes from the wrapped control back out to binding subscribers (i.e., the Windows Form control changes its Zoom property and raises the ZoomChanged event). Any ideas on how to accomplish this? Should I be using a different approach?

• Mapping class properties to generic columns in table .NET

  I have have a SQL Server table which has generic names like Text1, Text2.. etc. The table was designed like this because the same structure is used for different projects. I have a class in .NET which has properties. Say a Customer class has a property called FirstName. How can I do the mapping from FirstName to Text1 just once (central place) in the application so that I don't have to remember and hard code the mappings all over the app when I create the different DAL methods? For example, I want the app to know when I want to update, insert a FirstName, the DAL automatically uses Text1. Basically I don't have to remember which property goes to which column. The idea is so the developers do not map the properlies/columns in a wrong way. It's always consistent. Note: Database inserts, updates and deletes are allowed through stored procedures only.

It displays an image based some xml document and an optional parameter "Document" - XML document "RenderingOption" - optional image-rendering ( sharpen, soften ) So: <XMLRenderingWidget Document="xxxxxx"/> The above will render the document once <XMLRenderingWidget Document="xxxxxx" RenderingOption="Sharpen"/> The above will, sometimes render the document once, more oftentimes: Perform the rendering of the document as if no Rendering was set then, re-render the document with the Sharpen option I do the rendering on the PropertyChangedCallback assigned to the property. How do I tell the control to "hey, before doing the rendering, apply the changes on the other properties being set, too" Is this not possible? Should I bundle them up as one property instead?

• MS Access 2003 - Formatting results in a list box problem.

  So I have a list box that displays averages in a table like format from a crossyab query. It's just what I need the query is right, there is just one thing. I had to set the field properties in the query as format: standard..decimal:2. Which is exactly what I needed. However..the list box will not pick up on this. First I typed the crosstab sql into the list box's properties....and then I ran into this problem. So then I actually just created the query object, saved it and set that as the rowsource for the list box. Still won't work....when I open the query it is the correct format. So is there a way to further format a text box? Is there a way tell it to limit decimal places to one or two on returned values? Thanks!

• The height and width properties on my Flex 4 app arn't working

  In the opening application tag of my Flex 4 app, I set the width and height properties as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" creationComplete="init()" backgroundColor.mainState="0x303030" xmlns:components="components.*" width="798" height="240"> What I go into Design mode in Flash Builder 4, the app is the correct size. But when I embed the .swf file into a HTML page, the application's background color covers the whole screen, and when the Flash Player Settings message box pops up it is outside of the area I defined in the code above. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for reading.

I've got a DataTemplate that shows the correct view based on whatever the window's MainViewModel property is set to. <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type VM:StartupViewModel}"> <AdornerDecorator> <V:StartupView /> </AdornerDecorator> </DataTemplate> What I'd like to do is for certain views, change some properties on the base window, ie WindowStyle, ResizeMode etc. something like triggers, but on datatypes instead of property values? How could I accomplish this?

  First I will explain the context of the problem, because you might be able to point me in a better direction. I need to implement a undo-redo like system on an object. The object has a series of dependency properties. Some are double, int, string but some are also of DependencyObject type. I need to save the value of the property before it is changed, and for this I added the CoerceValueCallback. public static readonly DependencyProperty MyBackgroundProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("MyBackground", typeof(MyCustomizableBackground), typeof(MyComponent), new UIPropertyMetadata(default(MyCustomizableBackground), null, new CoerceValueCallback(OnPropertyChanged))); In OnPropertyChanged I save the value before it's changed. MyCustomizableBackground is the DependencyObject that has also some dependency properties. The problem is that in this case, where I have a custom object as a property, the OnPropertyChanged method isn't triggered, but when I have a common type, it is triggered.

• Difference between Popup's IsOpen and Visibility properties?

  I've played around with the WPF Popup Control and as far as I can see, the Visibility property is superfluous. If you have a Popup with IsOpen = True, it will be visible even if its Visibility = Collapsed. If you have a Popup with IsOpen = False, then its Visibility will be Collapsed, and will remain "Collapsed" when IsOpen changes to true, and it will appear. (i.e. you'll have something that appears on your screen, even though Snoop says it is Collapsed.) Why does the Popup control have both these properties? Am I missing something here?
