• Displaying a list of objects with Views - Drupal

  Hi folks, I'll briefly explain what I'm trying to do: I need to sort a set of content-types within a paginated page. Also I need to add filtering to the page, for example each content-type should have a set of tags and the filter needs to filter through these tags. This is a basic mockup of what this page consists of: I'm finding it quite hard figuring out the best way to do it, and if this can be done. Help would be very much appreciated!!

• iPhone switching views without first view being reset

  Heya! I'm making a role-playing game, and I want to have a Map View and a Battle Screen. With the possibility of other screens as well. I thought the best way to achieve this was to use multiple NIB files. When I prototyped this by have one view that creates content, switches to the next view, and then back, the content on the original view was reset. How do I make it so that the first view doesn't reset the data each time it's loaded? Thanks!

• Drupal - Use lightbox with Views (Rel attribute) - in output link

  In Drupal I have two image fields, one to act as a thumbnail and the other the image that will open when the thumbnail is clicked. The only way I could find to link the two was to use the option for "Output this field as a link" and link to the image field. This works, so when I click the thumbnail it opens the larger image however I would like to use lightbox2 for this task but in the "Output this field as a link" options there is no way to set the "rel" attribute. Is there a way to either set the rel attribute or invoke the lightbox by setting a class?

• Drupal rendering incomplete views

  I got tapped to do some quick maintenance on a recently migrated Drupal site. I'm pretty new to Drupal, so hopefully the problem is something that more experienced guys will figure out quick. Behavior is as follows. The public content works fine as far as I can tell. When I go to login, the login form renders correctly, but when I post the form w/ my credentials, I get back a blank page (not a 404; looks like a 200 to the /user URL, but all the gets rendered is empty Head and body tags). If i refresh the page, I get the content of my profile view, but none of the site chrome or CSS. Note that this is not an issue on the site it was migrated from, so it seems like something wasn't copied over correctly. The site's not public, so I can't provide a URL, sorry!

  So after reading http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1415602/performance-in-pdo-php-mysql-transaction-versus-direct-execution in regards to performance issues I was thinking about I did some research on locking tables in MySQL. On http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/table-locking.html Table locking enables many sessions to read from a table at the same time, but if a session wants to write to a table, it must first get exclusive access. During the update, all other sessions that want to access this particular table must wait until the update is done. This part struck me particularly becuase most of our queries will be updates rather than inserts. I was wondering if one created a table called foo on which all updates/inserts were carried out and then a view called foo_view (A copy of foo, or perhaps foo and a linkage of several other tables plus foo) on which all selects occured, would this locking issue still occur? That is, would SELECT quries on foo_view still have to wait for an update to finish on foo?

  All right all, So I've got a UITableView that is inited in applicationDidFinishLaunching like so: [self showForumList]; Said method does this: -(void)showForumList { ForumList *fl = [ForumList alloc]; [fl initWithNibName:@"ForumList" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; self.ForumList = fl; [window addSubview:[self.ForumList view]]; [fl release]; }where self.ForumList is previously defined in the interface as ForumList *ForumList;, etc. Now, in ForumList (itself an extension of UITableViewController obviously), I've got didSelectRowAtIndexPath: -- within it I have the following code: Forum *f = [Forum alloc]; NSArray *forums = [f getForumList]; NSDictionary *selectedForum = [forums objectAtIndex:[indexPath row]]; NSString *Url = [selectedForum objectForKey:@"url"]; NSString *Username = [selectedForum objectForKey:@"username"]; NSString *Password = [selectedForum objectForKey:@"password"]; NSLog(@"Identified press on forum %@ (%@/%@)", Url, Username, Password); [self.globalDelegate showForumListFromForumUsingUrl:Url username:Username password:Password]; [self.globalDelegate closeForumList]; NSLog(@"ForumListFromForum init"); Both of the NSLog calls in this function are executed and perform as they should.   I currently have a view (Drupal 6 using Views2) that properly aggregates a custom content type (videos) and filters them for a page display. When I create a block display, it previews the results in live preview just great, but when i go to the page expecting to see the block it doesn't appear. I'm fairly certain the argument I'm attempting to pass it fails because when I select "Display all results" for "Action to take if argument does not validate:" the block shows up on the page just fine. Any advice definitely appreciated.

  I am using Views to display a gallery. Right now I have set up the View so it onlys shows 50 elements, but I want it to display a "Next" button that takes you to the next batch of elements. Preferably using AJAX / without reloading, but its not necessary. How can I do this?   I'm looking to offer the user some way of changing how a single page looks based on some pre-defined jsps. i.e. Two or more jsp's contain similar information, and would be backed by a single controller method. The controller would decide which view to return. Is there a common way of achieving this? At the moment I have some administration screens where I control a list of possible views. The user can then choose which one to see from a drop-down. My current issue is that I don't know how to confirm (at the admin screen) that the view is valid. Is there a way of asking spring for all possible views so I can filter them and resent a drop-down on the admin screen rather than a free text field? If not is there a way of asking spring if a single view is valid? All these views will reside under a common directory, so it would probably be possible to scan recursively from that point and build a list of possible views. This goes beyond simply changing the css, since the page content might be different despite being backed by the same model.

The following locations were searched: ~/Views/Search/Index.aspx ~/Views/Search/Index.ascx ~/Views/Shared/Index.aspx ~/Views/Shared/Index.ascx Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. My Views folder will be in ~/XYZ/ABC/Views instead of ~/Views. Please solve my problem. Will I get any problems If I change the default Views folder location. Do I need to change anything in HTML Helper classes because I don't know anything in MVC as this is my starting project i dont want to risk..Please help me out...

• Should I implement BackBone.js into my ASP.NET WebForms applications?

  Background I'm trying to improve my group's current web app development pattern. Our current pattern is something we came up with while trying to rich web apps on top of ASP.NET WebForms (none of us knew ASP.NET MVC). This is the current pattern: ! Our application is using the WinForms Framework. Our ASPX pages are essentially just HTML, we use almost no WebControls. We use JavaScript/jQuery to perform all of our UI events and AJAX calls. For a single ASPX page, we have a single .js file. All of our AJAX calls are POSTs (not RESTful at all) Our AJAX calls contact WebMethods which we have defined in a series of ASMX files. One ASMX file per business object. Why Change? I want to revise our pattern a bit for a couple of reasons: We're starting to find that our JavaScript files are getting a bit unwieldy. We're using a hodgepodge of methods for keeping our local data and DOM updates in sync. We seem to spend too much time writing code to keep things in sync, and it can get tricky to debug. I've been reading Developing Backbone.js Applications and I like a lot of what Backbone has to offer in terms of code organization and separation of concerns. However, I've gotten to the chapter on RESTful app, I started to feel some hesitation about using Backbone. The Problem The problem is our WebMethods do not really fit into the RESTful pattern, which seems to be the way Backbone wants to consume them. For now, I'd only like to address our issue of disorganized client side code. I'd like to avoid major rewrites to our WebMethods. My Questions Is it possible to use Backbone (or a similar library) to clean up our client code, while not majorly impacting our data access WebMethods? Or would trying to use Backbone in this manner be a bastardization of it's intended use? Anyone have any suggestions for improving our pattern in the area of code organization and spending less time writing DOM and data sync code?

  I am writing something like a registration process containing several steps, and I want to make it a single-page like system so after some studying Backbone.js is my choice. Every time the user completes the current step they will click on a NEXT button I create and I use the router.navigate method to update the url, as well as loading the content of the next page and doing some fancy transition with javascript. Result is, URL is updated which the page is not refreshed, giving a smooth user experience. However, when the user clicks on the back button of the browser, the URL gets updated to that of a previous step, but the content stays the same. My question is through what way I can capture such an event and currently load the content of the previous step and present that to the user? Or even better, can I rely on browser cache to load that previously loaded page? EDIT: in particular, I'm trying something like mentioned in this article.
