This function receives three inputs: complete_fmla: has a string with digits and symbols but has no hyphens ('-') nor spaces. partial_fmla: has a combination of hyphens and possibly some digits or symbols, where the digits and symbols that are in it (other than hyphens) are in the same position as in the complete_formula. symbol: one character The output that should be returned is: If the symbol is not in the complete formula, or if the symbol is already in the partial formula, the function should return the same formula as the input partial_formula. If the symbol is in the complete_formula and not in the partial formula, the function should return the partial_formula with the symbol substituting the hyphens in the positions where the symbol is, in all the occurrences of symbol in the complete_formula.     Hi I want to be able to tore some information in core data and but i am unsure of how to check if the file was saved properly. I tried using NSLog but it returns null when its called. I have a dictionary which has a uniqueID and a title which I want to save. I pass this in along with the context of the database.   • How do I secure a .NET Web Service for use by an iPhone application?

    Hello, The title says it all, I have a Web Service written in .NET that provides data for an iPhone application. It will also allow the application make a "reservation." Currently it's all internal to the corporate network but obviously when the iPhone application is published I will need ensure the Web Service is available externally. How would I go about securing the Web Service? There are two aspects I'm looking into: Authentication for accessing the web service Protection for the data being transferred I'm no so bothered about the data being passed back and forth as it will be viewable in the application anyway (which will be free). The key issue for me is preventing users from accessing the Web Service and making reservations themselves. At the moment I am considering encrypting any strings in the XML data passed back and forth so only the client can effectively use the web service sidestepping the need for authentication and providing protection for the data. This is the only model I have seen but I think the overheads on the iPhone and even for the web service make for a poor user experience. Any solutions at all would be most welcome? Thanks

    userAnswer[] holds the string of the answer the user types in and is comparing it to answers[] to see if they match up and then spits out correct or wrong. j is equal to the question number. So if j was question 6, answers[j] should refer to answers[6] right? Then userAnswer[6] should compare to answers[6] and match if its correct.   • How do I automatically delete an Excel file after creating it on a server and returning it to the us

    Hello, I am creating an Excel file on a web server, using OleDb to connect the the physical (well as physical as it can be) file and appending records. I am then returning a FilePathResult to the user via MVC, and would like to delete the physical file afterwards due to data protection concerns over the appended records. I have tried using a File.Delete in a Finally clause but I get a File Not Found error which must mean the file has gone when MVC is trying to send the file to the user. I thought about creating the File as a MemoryStream but I think OleDb needs a physical file to connect to so this isn't an option. Any suggestions on how to delete the file after returning it in one operation? Thanks

  • Setting Frame.Content doesn't always work

    I have a Frame control and I'm setting the Content property. If I set it twice, first to one control then to another, it shows the first control instead of the second. If I display a message box after setting it the first time then it works fine (ie it displays the second control). It's like I can only set Content once until the screen has been repainted. Calling Frame.UpdateLayout also doesn't help. What should I call after setting Content so that I can be sure that Content is actually set to what I specify?

    This loop works fine but prematurely quits at times. I set a piece of code in it so that I can view the random number. It only closes prematurely when the random number is equal to the highest numbered question the user inputs (Example...a user wants 10 questions, if the random number is 10 the program quits.)     A simple percentage calculation. It wont return a value except 0.0 and I think once or twice it returned 100.0%. Other than that it won't do a thing.     This is a bad title for the question, but I'm not quite sure of a better one. I have a namespace called Globals with a class X in it. I also have a class called Globals. When I try to access Globals.X.StaticMember it tries to access the class Globals.X and complains that X doesn't exist. How do I reference the namespace Globals - ie ::Globals.X.StaticMember (:: doesn't compile).

    New Ubuntu User Needs Help!- version 9.10 does not communicate with laptop Hello folks, Several days ago, I installed Ubuntu 9.10 onto my Acer Aspire 3100 laptop, running it alongside Widows Vista as a dual-bootable system. Creation of the Ubuntu boot CD went fine, and the installation onto my hard drive was flawless. Ubuntu opens and behaves as I would expect, except for one little problem. For reasons unknown to me, Ubuntu is not communicating with my laptop's networking hardware, and I have no internet connectivity, even when sitting directly under the wireless router at the local library (literally), which puts out a wickedly-fast signal that my Windows Vista OS auto-detects and immediately connects to. Up in the right side of the Ubuntu desktop, I click on the network icon and it does not show a wireless connection at all, even though I am only a few feet from the router. At home, where I use a dialup modem, I also see no means of getting online. My modem is an HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with Smart CP,manufactured by CXT (Conexant Systems Inc., file version 4.0.13.0, and the driver version is 7.58.0.0). I desparately wish to convert to Ubuntu. I used Mac for ten years, and then Windows for ten years. Now, after 20 years, I want to live out my days as an open-source Ubuntu fanatic. I am ready to give the old status quo the boot! I am an advanced computer user, but I am not a programmer. I seek a solution that is user-friendly for normal people, something equivalent to a driver that I can easily install or activate that will allow Ubuntu to see my hardware and get me connected. Can anyone help me over this hopefully-little glitch so that I can move on in total Ubuntu bliss? My processor is a Mobile AMD Sempron Processor 3500+ at 1.80 GHz, 1.50 GB RAM, and a 32-bit Operating System. I am running Windows Vista Home Basic, Service Pack 2. My current email is [email protected] if you have a workable solution that does not require programmer status to implement. Surely this must be a simple fix that I simply am overlooking, but being the new guy on the block, I have yet to be enlightened. Thanks for your help in coming up to speed!!   • UISplitViewController programmtically without nib/xib, thank you.

    Hi, I usually create my projects without IB-stuff. The first thing I do is to strip off all references to xibs, outlets updated plist, etc and so forth. No problems, works great (in my world)! Now, I just installed 3.2 and tried to develop my first iPad app. Following same procedure as before, I created a UISplitView-based application project and stripped off all IB-stuff. Also, I followed the section in Apple's reference docs: "Creating a Split View Controller Programmatically", http://bit.ly/axgYAs, but nevertheless, the Master-view is never shown, only the Detail-view is (no matter what the orientation is). I really have tried to carefully look this through but I cannot understand what I have missed. Is there a working example of a UISplitViewController without the nibs floating around somewhere? I have googled but could not find any. Or do you know what I probably have missed? Regards, /Steve PS. Spare me the lesson why I should use the IB ;-) DS.

  • ASP.NET Membership - Retrieve Password and PasswordSalt from Membership Table - Hash UserID

    Hello, I am so close to get this project done. I need to retrieve the password and passwordSalt from my Membership table to compare it to my 'OldPasswords' table. The problem is the Membership provider does not let me use the GetPassword method because the password is hashed. And I can not retrieve it in a normal sqlConnection because the UserID is hashed also. Does anyone know how to hash the UserID so I can put it in my where clause? Or maybe there is a different way to get to that data? Any help is appreciated. Thank you, Steve

    Hello, I'm working on an internal IT application monitoring outages for a network with a national footprint in the US. I'm considering overlaying outages by region on a map. Showing outage areas in red for example. The user clicks on the outage area displaying drill down information. The technology stack includes Grails/JBoss/Linux. Are there frameworks that provide the mapping/GIS layer of the display on which I could overly my domain specific information?     Hi I've embedded several views in a library so that I can re-use across projects using this method which works OK: http://www.wynia.org/wordpress/2008/12/aspnet-mvc-plugins/ But one view usings a Javascript file. I've tried marking this as an embedded resource and adding it AssemblyInfo.cs and then referencing this resource using <%= ClientScript.GetWebResourceUrl(this.GetType(), "FullPath.FileName.js")%> This is literally displaying this output in the view WebResource.axd?d=nUxqfqAUQLabLU54W I think this is because Im trying to refer to an embedded resource from an embedded resource.   • Problem Installing Application on iPhone: Resource has been modified

    Hi, I am working on a simple iPhone application and when I run my app on my machine it installs on the device, but when I try it on a Windows machine using an ad-hoc distribution profile, it shows an error: "Application couldn't be installed because a resource has been modified." I have 2 iPhones and have tested the same app; on iPhone 2G it works fine, but on the 3G it shows the error I have written above. I tried to change the certificate and provisioning profiles, but no luck. Please let me know where I am mistaken. Thanks. Steve
