I'd love to start Catalina manually, but that doesn't seem to do anything. What's the best way to find the hidden exception? I'm not afraid to use torture methods.

    I have two tables, the first is like this: f1 | f2 | f3 | f4 ----------------- data.... the second contains info about the fields of the first: field | info ------------ f1 a f2 b f3 a etc. I would like to query the first table selecting the fields with a query on the second. So, for example, I might want to get data for fields where info is equal to "a", thus I would do "select f1, f3 from first_table". How do I do this programmatically? I was thinking about something along the lines of select (select fields from second_table where info='a') from first_table Thanks Chris

    Ok, so I've asked a bunch of smaller questions about this project, but I still don't have much confidence in the designs I'm coming up with, so I'm going to ask a question on a broader scale. I am parsing pre-requisite descriptions for a course catalog. The descriptions almost always follow a certain form, which makes me think I can parse most of them. From the text, I would like to generate a graph of course pre-requisite relationships. (That part will be easy, after I have parsed the data.) Some sample inputs and outputs: "CS 2110" => ("CS", 2110) # 0 "CS 2110 and INFO 3300" => [("CS", 2110), ("INFO", 3300)] # 1 "CS 2110, INFO 3300" => [("CS", 2110), ("INFO", 3300)] # 1 "CS 2110, 3300, 3140" => [("CS", 2110), ("CS", 3300), ("CS", 3140)] # 1 "CS 2110 or INFO 3300" => [[("CS", 2110)], [("INFO", 3300)]] # 2 "MATH 2210, 2230, 2310, or 2940" => [[("MATH", 2210), ("MATH", 2230), ("MATH", 2310)], [("MATH", 2940)]] # 3 If the entire description is just a course, it is output directly. If the courses are conjoined ("and"), they are all output in the same list If the course are disjoined ("or"), they are in separate lists Here, we have both "and" and "or". I started with PLY, but I couldn't figure out how to resolve the reduce/reduce conflicts.     I'm struggling to implement a shell with pipelines for class. typedef struct { char** cmd; int in[2]; int out[2]; } cmdio; cmdio cmds[MAX_PIPE + 1]; Commands in the pipeline are read and stored in cmds. cmdio[i].in is the pair of file descriptors of the input pipe returned by pipe(). For the first command, which reads from terminal input, it is just {fileno(stdin), -1}. cmdin[i].outis similar for the output pipe/terminal output. cmdio[i].in is the same as cmd[i-1].out.   • creating BeanInfo objects in NetBeans 6.1 does not work for some objects

    I have recently learned about BeanInfo classes in Java, and have successfully used them to add icons to my custom GUI components which extend swing components such as JTextField, however i have a more specialized GUI component which extends from another one of my GUI components, which then extends from JTextField. Ie. the class hierarchy is of the form "A - B - JTextField". I can create a bean info object that works for class B, but when i click on the bean info editor option in netbeans to create a bean info object for class A, nothing happens. Ie. there is no error pop-up and a bean info object is not created. There isn't much difference between class A and B. Both A and B have default no argument constructors and they are very similar to each other. The only thing i can really think of is that A uses generics and B does not. I would like to create a beaninfo object for class A so that i can add custom icons for that component. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I have a list of items that are grouped by their first letter. By clicking a letter the user gets alle entries that begin with that letter. This does not work for french. If I choose the letter a, items with â are not returned.     I have a data input module where I add the information of my product and its sub information like: product basic info product price info product price details price info and price details are related to product and are lists In my web forms approach I would store my main product object on the view state and I would populate it's pricing info and details while doing ajax postbacks. This way I can create a compact module that is very user friendly in terms of defining a lot of data from one place without the need to enter these data from seperate modules. And when I am done I would do one product.save() and that would persist all the data to the respective tables on db. Now I am building similar app on .net mvc framework and pondering on what would be the good way of handling this on mvc. I don't resonate towards storing all this on client side till I click save. And saving to the db after each action makes me remember the days I was coding on asp. Will appreciate your inputs on ways to approach this on mvc framework

The hardware and software info will be collected in an encrypted XML file and then posted back to a website. The application should run as a "service" or background process on the Mac and can be configured to collect the data on a frequent basis defined by another encrypted XML config file. I've done plenty of Windows based software development but never on the Mac. Can anybody point me in the direction of any useful info on how to develop on the Mac, collect hardware and software info, export to an XML file, file encryption and packaging a compiled app to run as a service?     I know how to update my own programs, and I know how to open programs using the a predefined Uri (for sms or email for example) I need to know how I can create an Intent to open MyTracks or any other application that I don't know what intents they listen to.     Is there a way to "magically" persist a column which is not represented as a property in an entity? Concretely I want to add audit info to an entity without having the audit info on the entity. The audit values are not stored in the entity, but are retrieved from the environment at the time of persisting the entity. This happens in a AuditInfoUserType. The nullSafeSet gets the info from the SecurityContext, instead of reading from the entity. In the hibernate mapping, however, the audit info properties have to be defined. Is there a way in hibernate to define columns without properties?

  • How do you stop Eclipse from inserting a certain class in Content-Assist?

    I'm using SpringSource Tool Suite (Eclipse) to program with Grails, and I'm also using JFreechart in the program. In Grails you log by typing log.info("method worked"). Unfortunately JFrechart has a class called "Log" with Static methods like "info". This means that in STS I type log.info and then when I type space or ( Eclipse "assists" me by importing the JFreechart Log class and changing what I've typed to Log.info(message). Very irritating. I reckon I could turn off the Eclipse option to "insert single proposals automatically", but I like this feature. Can I instruct Eclipse not to give me content assist from this particular JFreechart class?

Currently I have a textarea 'info' that on page load is unpopulated and two links that should change its value.
