  I have a problem where I can't add a printer on my Windows 7 machine, because it fails with "The printer driver is unknown" (error code 1797) using WMI/VBScript. The thing is that the printer driver already exists on the PC. I've used AddPrinterConnection to connect to the remote printer queue, and the drivers get installed. I've confirmed they exist by a) Enumerating Win32_PrinterDriver with WBEMTEST utility which shows the driver, and also in the Printer Management MMC snap-in. Is there some other scriptable way I can get this to work? I'm adding a local TCP/IP port, pointing my new printer object instance to use that port and the driver from using AddPrinterConnection, and giving it a name, but it refuses to work...

  Hello On Linux it is possible to create an a manual IPSec (no IKE etc) tunnel thus: spdadd 192.168.0.10/32[5066] 192.168.0.11/32[5064] udp -P in ipsec esp/transport//require; add 192.168.0.10 192.168.0.11 esp 2222 -m transport -E des-ede3-cbc "123456789012123456789012" -A hmac-md5 "1234567890123456"; I need to do the same on Windows. I am aware of netsh but I don't think its equivalent, I need to specific the SPI (thats the 2222 above) and this seems impossible. Any ideas or alternatives?! Thanks, Stuart.

• Postfix smtp error 450 (failed to add recipient)

  I have debian server with postfix and roundcube. After an attack we are on 2 blacklists, but I don't think that this is the main problem. I can't send mail to any address. I tried to find the cause...I checked var/spool/postfix/etc/resolv.conf and resolv.etc and they're the same with this content: nameserver 127.0.0.1 nameserver localhost In var/log/mail.err I found: cyrus/imap[25452]: DBERROR: opening /var/lib/cyrus/user/m/[email protected]: cyrusdb error cyrus/imap[25452]: DBERROR: skiplist recovery /var/lib/cyrus/user/m/[email protected]: ADD at 1FC0 exists When I try to send email from roundcube, I get the message from title. When I send it within opera or any other mail client, It gives nothing, but email is'nt sended. Thank you for any advice.

  I exported a wireless network connection profile from a Windows 7 machine correctly connected to a WiFi network with a WPA-TKIP passphrase. The exported xml file shows the correct settings and a keyMaterial node which I can only guess is the encrypted passphrase. When I take the xml to another Windows 7 computer and import it using netsh wlan add profile filename="WiFi.xml", it correctly adds the profile's SSID and encryption type, but a balloon pops up saying that I need to enter the passphrase. Is there a way to import the passphrase along with all other settings?

• Can't add German as input language in Windows XP

  I have a laptop that was brought to a computer shop for a hard disk problem. They replaced the disk and reinstalled windows XP, although the English version (the laptop has a German keyboard). I'd like to switch the input language to German. Usually I know how to do this (via "Regional and Language Options"), the problem is when I choose Languages/Details/Add... it doesn't offer me the German keyboard layout: It also uses the "Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard" driver - the laptop's keyboard is a 104/105 key German version. I can't seem to change this. Did I just miss the setting, or what is going on here?

• Add 802.11n to existing 802.11g environment

  I have a small home network that is currently running 802.11g. Two computers that are capable of 802.11n and two devices (a BlackBerry and a Skype phone) that are limited to 802.11g. I have a few neighbors running 802.11g but their signals are very weak. How big an impact will the two G devices have on N speeds? Will they pull the whole network back down to G? These two devices are hardly ever used where as the other N devices are heavily used. If I add an N router to the network (instead of replacing the G) and set my existing G router to use channel 1 with 20MHz bandwidth and then set the N router to use 6 & 11 for 40MHz will I eliminate the overlap and allow for full speed on both networks?

• Windows refuses to believe printer is online unless I delete and re-add it

  I have a Canon MP560. It is online, in the sense that (a) I can connect to its internal web server; and (b) if I delete the printer in windows (windows 7), and reinstall it, windows will recognise that the printer is online, and talk to it. In all other cases, the windows and mac computers (purchased last week, running whatever is the latest and greatest mac os) in my household will simply not recognise that the printer is online. The printer is statically configured to use the same IP address, so that's not an issue. Because the printer works just fine with windows after delete and re-add, I assume that the issue with the mac is that I haven't installed whatever drivers Macs need to talk to Canon printers over a network.

• Can't add HKCU entries via GroupPolicy Preferences

  2008 R2, XP and W7 64 bit workstations. Trying to add/modify two registry entries for Lync2010 for each user. Created using GP Management, User Configuration, Preferences, Registry. If the two registry entries already exist, then the policy works correctly. If they don't exist, nothing changes. GPReults reports it was successful. If I import the .reg file manually, it also works, so I don't believe it is a rights issue. I have tried the Update, Create, and Replace as the Action. I am not familiar with ADM templates, is that the only way to do it?

  I have some audio and want to add visuals to it and upload to YouTube. Nothing fancy, just like slides, image_A from 00:00:00 to 00:00:05 then image_B from 00:00:50 to 00:00:30 and so on. I have recent Mac and Windows machines to do this on. I'd like to do it on free or demo software if I can. Please give a bit of a hint how to get started if you can. • Windows 7 Media Player won't add MP3 files

  I have a set of MP3 files that Windows Media Player just refuses to add to the library. They are placed in the standard My Music folder. I play them in media player. They just won't be listed in the library. I've tried dragging them and dropping them on the media player but they still don't appear in the library. I have an identical laptop where I've also copied the mp3 files and they appear in the library fine. Any ideas what would cause this?

• can't add sharepoint users from trusted domain

  I have a very strange problem with our Sharepoint 2007 implementation. I went in today to grant access to a user and was greeted with "The user does not exist or is not unique." Let me start off by saying that this user is not on our domain we have a 2 way trust connecting to one of our subsidiaries. I can see the users in the people pick but can't add them into Sharepoint. This problem flared up after we had some trust issues last two days ago. So I must ask has anyone came across this error and if so what steps did you take to resolve it? For example, User: uid=testadmin, ou=people, dc=my,dc=net Should have access to create new users/delete users under ou=People,dc=my,dc=net I tried with below ACI but did not work (target = "ldap:///ou=People,dc=my,dc=net")(targetattr = "*") (version 3.0;acl "testadmin Permissions";allow (proxy)(userdn = "ldap:///uid=testadmin,ou=people,dc=my,dc=net");) I am able to add administrative users from the Directory Server console, but this user data is not stored in ldif files and only stored in binary database at /var/lib/dirsrv/slap-ldap/db/. Only problem is these users have full power and I am not sure how to restrict their access.

  I'd like to use custom icons to better distinguish machines running the same OS from each other, in VirtualBox. is this possible? If so, what file(s) do I need to add/edit? Examples: I've got two Windows 7 VMs. One I use as a sandbox for testing various things, and the other I use for when I need to connect to work (ideally, my personal system - the host machine - never directly connects). I'd like to have perhaps a beaker for the sandbox, and a suitcase for the work machine. I've got two Ubuntu VMs. One is BackTrack Linux, the other is a build I'm using to learn more about the OS. I wouldn't mind keeping the regular icon for the latter, but I'd like to use one of BackTrack's icons or images for the former. I'm running VirtualBox 4.1.6 on Windows 7 x64.

  I've got a home network set up with a couple of Windows XP computers. I'm now trying to add our new netbook to it - also running XP. (The goal is to share files and a printer.) I have run the Network Setup Wizard and made sure that the workgroup name is the same as the others, and have rebooted several times, but whenever I try to 'view workgroup computers,' the only one on it is the netbook. I have a Windows XP CD, but the netbook has no drive. The wizard has some options for floppy disks, but that's useless to me these days. What is this wizard actually trying to do, and can I do it manually? Surely it can't be this hard.

All servers have static IP's All servers are in the same domain (SOFTWARE) RDP is enabled for all 3 servers All servers are Windwos Server 2008 R2 I can connect to the DHCP/RRAS server via RDP I cannot connect to DC and File server When I add RPD users (both are domain admin for testing) to the File server they show up like this: What is happening what I don't see?   I have a Proliant DL380 G6 that I am re-purposing as a Hyper-V host for a new, off-site data center that will host our DR services. The server currently has a P410i controller with the 512MB BBWC module. The drives installed are SFF 6G 10K drives. I plan to add the HP 516914-B21 drive cage, which gives me 8 more SFF drives, bringing the total to 16. To get the additional 8 drives connected, I have one of three choices: Install a new controller that can support 16 drives. Install a second controller. Install a SAS expander, such as the HP 468406-B21 recommended by HP's spec sheet for my server. My question is: how do I know if I'm going hit a performance ceiling by putting 16 drives on the P410i or using the expander? And if I am, how do I select an appropriate controller? I'm not sure what specifications I should be looking at.

  I have a test environment for a remote desktop farm with a connection broker load balancing logins across remote desktop session host servers. All servers are built on Server 2012 R2. Using rd web access, we can access this farm from anywhere. When logging in via web access, you can choose the screen resolution or use full screen. If you have two monitors when selecting full screen, it will always use both your monitors. Does anyone know how to adjust the RDWeb page so that you can choose whether or not to use both your monitors? This option is in the GUI from RDP 6.1 onwards, so I would imagine there is a way to also add it the web access page.

  When I open a GIF file in gimp, I find it very hard to add more colours then those that are already contained in GIF palette. When I draw with different colours, GIMP is trying to use the colour from palette most approximate to the colour I'm drawing. (may result in red instead of black) This problem persist even if I save the imported GIF as XCF file (even if I create new layers in it). How do I make gimp ignore the palette? The only solution was saving (exporting) the file as some non-palete image as BMP and then importing it again. Example : After flood fill (black)

• Can't add Samba users in Ubuntu

  I am using (K)Ubuntu 10.10, and I'm trying to set up Samba shares. When I try to add a Samba user in the KDE samba configuration, exit the configuration dialog, then enter it again, I see that the user is not added. Then I tried it using the command line (running as root): smbpasswd -a peet 'peet' is my normal user name. It asks for a password, then does something on my hard drive, but I can see no password file created in /etc/samba, and neither does the date of my smb.conf file change. I also don't see the samba user when I open the samba configuration dialog.

• Add "secure" in cookie by httpd server

  How do I have to configure my httpd server to add "Secure" in the cookies? I tried the one in the below link, http://blog.modsecurity.org/2008/12/fixing-both-missing-httponly-and-secure-cookie-flags.html but this did not seem to be working. I inspected the cookie via firebug and found that the cookies have "HttpOnly" but not "Secure". I double checked the configurations and they the same as mentioned in the link. I also noticed that the server response time goes bit high when doing it by mod_security. Is there a better way to do it? Any ideas or pointers to configurations would be helpful

• ADD ROUTE command in windows 2008R2

  I don't know much about Networking, So excuse me if I am raising some basic issues. I have a LAN where there is a Windows Server 2008R2 with some clients connected to it. The clients are not joined to the domain of the Server (they are in a WORKGROUP). I have set up a VPS on the server machine (PPTP) with a Static address pool of range 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.0.10 but the LAN range itself is 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254. When I connect to the server from another location over the internet, I can just see the server and I can not see the other clients which are in the same LAN as the server. what to do to see the other clients? a friend of mine said that you should use the ADD ROUTE command. Beacuse of that I used this command as my title. What would be the best way to address this problem? Thanks

Now I want to 301 all URLs without trailing slash to their counterpart that includes a trailing slash. For example: /contacts to /contacts/. I've tried virtually all the nginx directives on this I could find, but to no avail. For example, the directive specified in nginx- Rewrite URL with Trailing Slash leads to a redirect to /index.php/. Which directive should I add and where?
