• Does SmtpClient class represent POP3 client or…?

  I assume that web controls (such as the PasswordRecovery control) use SmtpClient to send email messages. If so, does SmtpClient represent a POP3 client or does SmtpClient forward email message to POP3 client? Do attributes specified inside <smtp> element in web.config map to SmtpClient class? <system.net> <mailSettings> <smtp deliveryMethod="Network" ...></smtp> </mailSettings> </system.net> One of the possible values for the attribute deliveryMethod is Network, which tells that email should be sent through the network to an SMTP server. In other words, this value tells to send email to SMTP server using SMTP protocol?! For the PasswordRecovery control to be able to send email messages, we need to set basic properties in <MailDefinition> subelement of the PasswordRecovery control. Thus I assume MailDefinition is used by controls to create an email message?!

  Hi there, I'm clueless when it comes to PHP and have a script that emails the contents of a form. The trouble is it only sends me the comment when I want it to also send the name and email address that is captured. Anyone know how I can adjust this script to do this? • Emailing an excel sheet with SSL in Python

  Hi...this is my first post so let me know if there are any common courtesies I should know about. I just started programming 8 months ago, so I am fairly new. I have been doing some projects to get better. A project I'm working on now creates an Excel sheet from inputted data. It's in Python, which I just started learning a couple of weeks ago. I'm attempting to embed part of this Excel sheet into an email, sent from my school address. I have spent hours looking this up, and to no avail. There are two problems I am asking for help with: 1) I have figured out how to send an email from my GMail account, but not from my school address. My school email uses SSL port 465, which I have tried to use, but to no avail. Unfortunately, I have been having a problem setting up outgoing email for this account on my iPhone as well. It may be related? Does anyone know of common issues relating to outgoing email with SSL and Python? 2) Excel has an option of saving a sheet as a HTML. When doing so, I copy and pasted the HTML source and emailed it as an attachment. Unfortunately, the colored text did not transfer over. Does anyone know of a better way of using Python to send an excel sheet embedded in an email? Thanks for your help!

  I'm currently modifying my regex for this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2782031/extracting-email-addresses-in-an-html-block-in-ruby-rails basically, im making another obfuscator that uses ROT13 by parsing a block of text for all links that contain a mailto referrer(using hpricot). One use case this doesn't catch is that if the user just typed in an email address(without turning it into a link via tinymce) So here's the basic flow of my method: 1. parse a block of text for all tags with href="mailto:..." 2. replace each tag with a javascript function that changes this into ROT13 (using this script: http://unixmonkey.net/?p=20) 3. once all links are obfuscated, pass the resulting block of text into another function that parses for all emails(this one has an email regex that reverses the email address and then adds a span to that email - to reverse it back) step 3 is supposed to clean the block of text for remaining emails that AREN'T in a href tags(meaning it wasn't parsed by hpricot). Problem with this is that the emails that were converted to ROT13 are still found by my regex. What i want to catch are just emails that WEREN'T CONVERTED to ROT13. How do i do this? well all emails the WERE CONVERTED have a trailing "'.replace" in them. meaning, i need to get all emails WITHOUT that string. so far i have this regex: /\b([A-Z0-9._%+-]+@[A-Z0-9.-]+.[A-Z]{2,4}('.replace))\b/i but this gets all the emails with the trailing '.replace i want to get the opposite and I'm currently stumped with this. any help from regex gurus out there? MORE INFO: Here's the regex + the block of text im parsing: http://www.rubular.com/r/NqXIHrNqjI as you can see, the first two 'email addresses' are already obfuscated using ROT13. • ASP MVC: E-mail Verification (Encrypting the activation link)

  Okay i'm a little bit stuck on how to solve this problem. When a user registers. I want to send him a link so that he can verify hes email address. But i have troubles generating the link. I've already written the controller to accept the links with the correct keys. i only have no idea on how to generate the activation keys.   Hi guys, In my Django application I would like the user to be able to change the email address. I've seen solution of StackOverflow pointing people to django-profiles. Unfortunately I don't want to use a full fledged profile module to accomplish a tiny feat of changing the users email. Has anyone seen this implemented anywhere. The email address verification procedure by sending a confirmation email is a requisite in this scenario. I've spent a great a deal of time trying to a find a solution that works but to no avail.   Hi, a colleague of mine wrote a webservice that runs on port 8081 of our Windows 2008 Server. He uses the class ServiceHost, afaik this means its a standalone host (no IIS or ASP involvement). Note: I'm new into WCF ;) Now there are some issues with clients behind a firewall blocking the requests to remote port 8081 of our server (where the webservice runs). The easiest solution would be: run the webservice host at port 80 ... But: there is also a Apache 2.2 webserver running on the Windows Server, hosting some websites. By default it runs on port 80. My solution after some researching: use a virtual host to route requests to a virtual host (lets say http://webservice.[hostname]:80) to the webservice host (http://[hostname]:8081). Is this a good idea? Can Apache handle forwards to standalone webservice hosts? It would be nice if someone could lead me on to the right track :) Best regards, Niels

• Forwarding first responder to UIScrollView unsuccessful

  Hello, I am trying to create an image cropping bpx whereby the underlying image can be zoomed an scrolled while the cropping "maskview" layer stays the same and the corners can be dragged in any direction. To achieve this, the ImageView is added to a UIScrollView, and this is added to the SelectionViewController.view . I then add the cropping "maskview" layer to the SelectionViewController.view. I did this instead of adding to the scrollview so that the cropping maskview won't be expanded when the underlying image expands. @interface SelectionViewController : UIViewController <UIScrollViewDelegate> { UIImageView *photoview; // Added to self.scrollview MaskedView *maskedview; // Added to self.view UIScrollView *scrollview; // Added to self.view } The maskview has first responder status and responds accordingly. However, the only event I am interested in the maskview is if any of the corners are dragged (this works fine). The problem I want to try to solve is two-fold: If it is a pinch or zoom gesture, I am trying to forward the responder to the UIScrollview using: [self.nextResponder touchesMoved:touches withEvent:event]; The scrollview does not seem to respond. I have confirmed that the self.nextResponder after the maskedview is the SelectionViewController's view itself. From there, it doesn't seem like the UIScrollview responds. It does respond fine if I remove the cropping maskedview. If I zoom in on the underlying image and the cropping maskview rectangle is still the same, I want to now crop the actual zoomed image. Let's say for the upper left hand corner of the crop box, how can I find what the coordinates translates to in the underlying UIImageView now that the image has been zoomed?   I would like to make server that listen on UDP port 162 (SNMP trap) and then forwards this traffic to multiple clients. Also important is that the source port & address stays same (address spoofing). I guess that best tool for this would be Twisted or Scapy or mybe vanilla sockets, only I can't find anything in the documentation for Twisted about source address spoofing/forging.   Hello All, I am using IIS 7 on Server 2008. I just tried migrating my app from an older platform - everything works fine, except the email feature. The outbound firewall ruleset allows SMTP traffic. Any idea what I did wrong?

  I am using this method - (void)keyboardWillShow:(NSNotification *)notification that is triggered when the keyboard shows. When this method is triggered, it receives a notification that contains several parameters about the keyboard, as the animation duration, animation curve and frame. I need to forward this notification and all its parameters to another class. So, I've tried to do this inside keyboardWillShow: [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:@"doSomething" object:notification userInfo:nil]; the doSomething notification runs doSomething method on another class, and it has this form: - (void) doSomething:(NSNotification *)notification { but when I try to read the notification values on this other class, using, for example, myRect = [[[notification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardFrameEndUserInfoKey] CGRectValue]; I obtain zero for all values. The notification is losing its parameters and not being forwarded. How can I do that? thanks.

  Alright, so I only got Postfix for a PHP contact form that will send email to a single . I only want it to send out mail to a single external address ([email protected]). I have domain sub1.sub2.domain.com. I installed Postfix out of the Ubuntu repo, with minimal config changes. I cannot get Postfix to send mail externally (though it succeeds for internal accounts, which is unnecessary). The email simply defers if I generate an email using PHP mail(). • Implications of not forwarding http:// to http://www.

  Hi, my company is running IIS and DNN (I'm not a server guy, so color me ignorant), and I've read previous that you should either redirect your .http://www.mydomain to .http://mydomain or Vice Versa. Can anyone give me reasons to do this? (periods "prepended" to remove href) From what I understand, it's because search engines see those as two different 'sites' (Even when visiting one or the other, I can be logged into one but not the other). I also heard it can be a duplicate content problem, which search engines dislike. Just looking for some professional insight, will help me and others. Thanks!

So I changed the reg ex to (^([a-zA-Z0-9_.-])+@([a-zA-Z0-9_.-])+\.([a-zA-Z])+([a-zA-Z])+)? But this expression accepts any email address without any validation.

They are always in the 5th field, which I can grab, but they appear at different places within a comma-separated list in the 5th field. Can somebody give me a regex to grab just the email address (delimeted by commas) from a line in this file?   Hi all, I'm using devise to handle user authentication with my rails app. I'd like to allow my users to sign up and be instantly logged in and receive a confirmation email. Devise has the Confirmable module which sends out an email but requires the user to open up their mail application, find the email and click a link which then leads them to the site again. I'd like to just email the user a confirmation that they signed up and that's it. Is there a way for devise to do this or do I need to resolve to handling ActionMailer myself (if so, is there a quick and non-complex example)? Many thanks! -Tony

  I'm doing some development with a thrid party that issues either a Get or POST to a public URL that I specify. What I would like to do is set up a Relay service on the Azure Service Bus that my dev machine can listen to. When the request comes in, I want to forward that request as if my web service was taking the request directly from the thrid party service. When I'm ready, I'll deploy the application to a public service, change the URL that the thrid party service is sending too, and viola I should be up and running. What I'm looking for looks exactly like this: Clemens the Master of Service Bus but it's from the 2009 CTP. I'm working at it, but haven't yet got it working using all the new bits in 2012 (a.ka. its over my head at the moment). Somebody want to help? Clemens also help somebody else create a Reverse Proxy using the Service Bus, but I can't seem to find it. Yes I've also tweeted Clemens, but I'm sure he is a busy man! p.s. I know about Application Request Routing, but my dev machine is not on a public URL, I need to rewrite the URL after my client listener on the service bus recieves the message that was relayed from the Server side endpoint.
