• Windows Task Scheduler does not start task at next run time

  I have a Windows Server 2008 SP 2 Task Scheduler task that should run every 10 minutes. The trigger says "At 6:50 PM every day - After triggered, repeat every 10 minutes for a duration of 1 day." Looking at the Next Run Time, it says 6/18/2012 8:00 PM. However, when I let that time pass, the Next Run Time just changes to 8:10 PM but the task has not started and the Last Run Time is unchanged from yesterday. How can I get this task to run every 10 minutes when enabled no matter what. Similarly, I have other tasks that need to run on slightly different schedules: Every 30 minutes (5:30, 6:00, 6:30, etc) Every 30 minutes (5:35, 6:05, 6:35, etc) How can I define these intervals? And why does the task not start at the indicated Next Run Time?

• Why is systemd not setting my system time?

  I'm running Arch Linux. Recently, when I turn on my PC, the system time is set to 1:00 1 January 1970 - presumably the 1:00 o'clock is from the timezone shift. Does anyone have any ideas why systemd isn't setting my system time correctly? Some useful output (I think)... • Time values not saving in Airport Base Station MAC Timed Access List

  I have an airport base station model A1354. I am attempting to setup MAC Timed Access so a laptop can only connect between 5:00AM and 11:00pm through the Airport Utility version 5.5.2 (552.11). My AEBS is running firmware version 7.5.2 When I try to enter the time values by double clicking over the time and entering 05:00 AM and 11:00PM the time values don't stay as soon as it looses focus. Instead they become what is in the following screenshot, and the laptop looses connectivity as soon as I update the base station. I also tried entering the values in military time with the same result. Any base station power users out there that know how I can get the time values to "stick"?

• Inserting static current time in Excel

  I have a time log spreadsheet. I have a new sheet for each day. In each sheet, I have a transactional record of how my time was spent. When I start or end a task, I usually type in the time ("11:00 AM" for example). Is there a shortcut to inserting the current time into a field? I'm sure it can be done with a macro, but I'm not very knowledgeable about macros. I'd like to simply highlight a field and hit some sort of shortcut key to insert a static value of the current time. • Java threads, wait time always 00:00:00-Producer/Consumer

  I am currently doing a producer consumer problem with a number of threads and have had to set priorities and waits to them to ensure that one thread, the security thread, runs last. I have managed to do this and I have managed to get the buffer working. The last thing that I am required to do is to show the wait time of threads that are too large for the buffer and to calculate the average wait time. I have included code to do so, but everything I run the program, the wait time is always returned as 00:00:00, and by extension, the average is returned as the same. I was speaking to one of my colleagues who said that it is not a matter of the code but rather a matter of the computer needing to work off of one processor, which can be adjusted in the task manager settings. He has an HP like myself but his program prints the wait time 180 times, whereas mine prints usually about 3-7 times and is only 00:00:01 on one instance before finishing when I have made the processor adjustments. My other colleague has an iMac and hers puts out an average of 42:00:34(42 minutes??) I am very confused about this because I can see no difference between our codes and like my colleague said, I was wondering is it a computer issue. I am obviously concerned as I wanted to make sure that my code correctly calculated an average wait time, but that is impossible to tell when the wait times always show as 00:00:00. To calculate the thread duration, including the time it entered and exited the buffer was done by using a timestamp import, and then subtracting start time from end time. Is my code correct for this issue or is there something which is missing? I would be very grateful for any solutions. • Unable to load configuration from uwsgi

  Since yesterday I have been wrestling with this problem: unable to load configuration from uwsgi When I google it, nothing comes up. I am trying to run UWSGI under nginx with a very simple uwsgi.ini file. The file is being pointed to correctly. • Windows 7 x64 Solitaire freezes on load

  I upgraded my computer from Vista Home Premium x64 to 7 x64. I was able to use the solitaire application for about 24 hours but since then it freezes when it tries to load. Specifically the program freezes with the title "Solitaire - Loading Resources... (Not Responding)". Any suggestions?

• Will An External Audio Interface Reduce CPU Load?

One question is if it will reduce CPU load (I'm at about 60%+ and my Macbook has 2.4ghz and 4gigs ram) during intensive audio processing. • Server 2008 slow home page load in Internet Explorer

  I have a problem with Internet Explorer for all users. On startup the home page takes around 20-30 seconds to load. This includes servers such as the Domain Controller and Terminal Server. However once the home page has loaded all pages from then on run fine. If you close and then reopen Internet Explorer the same thing happens. Any suggestions?

They are unused (as far as I know). The guest runs perfectly until I run a large 'rsync', when the network will freeze after some seemingly-random time (usually under a minute). When it freezes, there is no network activity in or out of the guest. I can still connect to the guest's console via vnc, but it is unable to speak out its network interface. Any attempt to 'ping' from the guest gives a "Destination Host Unreachable" error for 3/4 packets and no reply for every fourth packet. Sometimes (perhaps two thirds of the time), I can bring the interface back to life by doing a "service network restart" from the guest's console. If this works (and if I do it before the rsync times out), the rsync will resume. Usually it will freeze again within a minute or two. If I repeat, the rsync will eventually finish, and I presume the machine goes back to waiting for another period of heavy load. Throughout the whole process, there are no console errors or relevant (that I can see) syslog messages on either guest or host machine. If the "service network restart" doesn't work the first time, trying again (and again and again) never seems to work. The command completes normally, with normal output, but the interface stays frozen. However, a soft reboot of the guest machine (without restarting qemu-kvm) always seems to bring it back. I am aware of the "lowest mac address" assignment problem, where the bridge takes on the mac address of the slave interface with the lowest mac address. This causes temporary network freezes, but is definitely not what's happening for me. My freezes are permanent until manual intervention, and you can see from the 'ip addr show' output above that the mac address being used by br0 is that of the physical ethernet. There are no other virtual machines running on the host. I've verified that each virtual machine on the subnet has its own unique mac address. I have rebuilt the guest machine several times, and I have tried this on three different host machines (identical hardware, built identically). Oddly, I do have one virtual host (the second of this series) which never seemed to have a problem. It never had its network freeze when it was running the same rsync during its build. It's particularly odd because it was the second build. The first, on a different host, did have the freezing problem, but the second did not. I assumed at the time that I had done something wrong with the first build, and that the problem was resolved. Unfortunately, the problem reappeared when I built the third VM. Also unfortunately, I can't do many tests with the working VM, as it's now in production use, and I'm hoping I can find the cause of this issue before that machine starts having problems. It's possible that I just got really lucky while running the rsync on the working machine, and that one time it didn't freeze. Of course it's possible that I somehow changed the build scripts without realizing it and re-broke something, but I can't find any such thing. In any case, I'm hoping someone has some idea what could cause this. Addendum: Preliminary tests suggest that I don't have the problem if I substitute e1000 for virtio in the first -net flag to qemu-kvm. I don't consider this a solution, but it is suitable for a stopgap. Has anyone else had (or better yet, solved) this problem with the virtio network driver?

• IIS can't load Oracle.Web assembly (for ASP.NET membership provider)

  I am trying to configure an IIS web site to use an Oracle database for ASP.NET membership, but I can't get it to work. IIS doesn't seem to be able to load the assembly containing the Oracle membership provider. That's what I have so far: An Oracle 10g database online and with all the tables for ASP.NET membership created. Windows 2008 R2 Standard with the web server role installed, including support for ASP.NET. Oracle 11g Release 2 ODAC 11.2.0.1.2 installed. The installed components are: Oracle data provider for .NET, Oracle providers for ASP.NET, Oracle instant client. Also, the connection string is defined for the whole server.) The Oracle.Web.dll file is on the GAC. That's the relevant part of the C:\Windows\Assembly folder: The web site application pool is configured for .NET 2.0, and has 32-bit applications enabled. I have allowed untrusted providers in the IIS' administration.config file (just for the sake of testing, I'll explicitly add the assembly to the trusted providers list later). With all of this setup in place, when I click on the ".NET Users" icon on the IIS manager, I get a warning about the provider having too much privileges, and when I accept I get the following message: There was an error while performing this operation. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.Web, Version=2.112.1.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. So, what am I missing? How can I get the Oracle membership provider to work? Thank you! UPDATE: It seems that the problem is not with IIS itself, but with the IIS administrator only. When using the web site configuration tool provided by Visual Studio, everything works fine.

  I'm trying to understand the behavior of the Linux pdflush daemon when: The page cache is initially pretty much empty There is a large amount of free memory The system starts undergoing heavy write load My understanding right now is that the vm.dirty_ratio and vm.dirty_background_ratio that control page cache flushing behavior are with respect to the present size of the page cache, which means that my writes will flush earlier than they would if the page cache was pre-populated (even with dummy data from some random file), and thus throughput will be lower. Is this accurate?

• Load balancing with 2 wireless cards

  I'm thinking about building a wireless load balancer (if that makes sense). For example, the first wireless card will accept all connections for ip 192.168.1.1 and the second card will serve requests for 192.168.1.2. I know that I can assign both IPs to a single card and all requests will be served by a single wireless card. Would it be better (more bandwidth, more stable connection, etc?) to have two physical cards instead?

As we have a SAN for the VMs themselves, can we get away with cheap controller / SATA disk in raid-1 for the hypervisor ? We won't boot from the SAN as it seems prone to problems. Thanks, Chris

• TomCat starts, but does not load properly

  Hey guys, I've been working on this for a day now and still don't know what's wrong. I am essentially building a second environment for our web and app server. I got apache to load up just fine, but tomcat is proving to be difficult. It appears to start and load just fine, but when it comes to loading our application, its just got stuck for 2-5 minutes and then shut down. • Shut down windows service based on load

  Hello, I was wondering if there are any free / open source solutions that will start and stop a windows service based on load? I have some pubsub subscriber services that do background work which is not critical. Ideally i would like tot be able to automate things so that these services could start if memory/cpu/disk i/o was under a certain threshold and stop gracefully if that threshold was met. • How to load powershell profile from cygwin bash?

  So in cygwin bash I am able to type "powershell" to bring me into a powershell prompt but it won't load my powershell profile.ps1 due to not being able to execute scripts, but I can't set the execution policy in this prompt... So I tried running the default powershell prompt (as administrator) and was able to set the execution policy to remote signed, but it doesn't affect the powershell within bash what am I missing?
