• Read Parent nodes only from XML using LINQToXML

- by ItsMeSri
I have XML string that has parent nodes "Committee" and inside that another child node "Committee" is there. When I am using "from committee in xDocument.DescendantsAndSelf("Committee")" it is reading childnode also, but I don't want to read child nodes, I just want to read Parent nodes only. <Committee> <Position>STAFF</Position> <Appointment>1/16/2006</Appointment> <Committee>PPMSSTAFF</Committee> <CommitteeName>PPMS Staff</CommitteeName> <Expiration>12/25/2099</Expiration> </Committee> <Committee> <Position>STAFF</Position> <Appointment>4/16/2004</Appointment> <Committee>PMOSSTAFF</Committee> <CommitteeName>PPMS </CommitteeName> <Expiration>12/25/2099</Expiration> </Committee> XElement xDocument= XElement.Parse(xml); var committeeXmls = from Committee in xDocument.Descendants("Committee") select new { CommitteeName = Committee.Element("CommitteeName"), Position = Committee.Element("Position"), Appointment = Committee.Element("Appointment"), Expiration = Committee.Element("Expiration") }; int i = 0; foreach (var committeeXml in committeeXmls) { if (committeeXml != null) { drCommittee = dtCommittee.NewRow(); drCommittee["ID"] = ++i; drCommittee["CommitteeName"] = committeeXml.CommitteeName.Value; drCommittee["Position"] = committeeXml.Position.Value; drCommittee["Appointment"] = committeeXml.Appointment.Value; drCommittee["Expiration"] = committeeXml.Expiration.Value; dtCommittee.Rows.Add(drCommittee); // educationXml.GraduationDate.Value, educationXml.Major.Value); } }

• How to get a TextBlock to wrap text inside a DockPanel area?

- by Edward Tanguay
What do I have to do to get the inner TextBlock below to wrap its text without defining an absolute width? I've tried Width=Auto, Stretch, TextWrapping, putting it in a StackPanel, nothing seems to work. XAML: <UserControl x:Class="Test5.MainPage" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:tk="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit" Width="800" Height="600"> <tk:DockPanel LastChildFill="True"> <StackPanel tk:DockPanel.Dock="Top" Width="Auto" Height="50" Background="#eee"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding TopContent}"/> </StackPanel> <StackPanel tk:DockPanel.Dock="Bottom" Background="#bbb" Width="Auto" Height="50"> <TextBlock Text="bottom area"/> </StackPanel> <StackPanel tk:DockPanel.Dock="Right" Background="#ccc" Width="200" Height="Auto"> <TextBlock Text="info panel"/> </StackPanel> <StackPanel tk:DockPanel.Dock="Left" Background="#ddd" Width="Auto" Height="Auto"> <ScrollViewer HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" Padding="10" BorderThickness="0" Width="Auto" VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto"> <tk:DockPanel HorizontalAlignment="Left" Width="Auto" > <StackPanel tk:DockPanel.Dock="Top" HorizontalAlignment="Left"> </StackPanel> <TextBlock tk:DockPanel.Dock="Top" Text="{Binding MainContent}" Width="Auto" TextWrapping="Wrap" /> </tk:DockPanel> </ScrollViewer> </StackPanel> </tk:DockPanel> </UserControl>

• F# and .Net versions

- by rwallace
I'm writing a program in F# at the moment, which I specified in the Visual Studio project setup to target .Net 3.5, this being the highest offered, on the theory that I might as well get the best available. Then I tried just now running the compiled program on an XP box, not expecting it to work, but just to see what would happen. Unsurprisingly I just got an error message demanding an appropriate version of the framework, but surprisingly it wasn't 3.5 it demanded, but 2.0.50727. An additional puzzle is the version of MSBuild I'm using to compile the release version of the program, which I found in the framework 3.5 directory but claims to be framework 2.0 and build engine 3.5. I just guessed it was the right version of MSBuild to use because it seemed to correspond with the highest framework version F# seems to be able to target, but should I be using a different version? Anyone have any idea what's going on? • Strange behavior due to wx.Frame.SetTitle

- by Anurag Uniyal
In a wxPython application, which i am porting to Mac OSX, I set title of app frame every 500msec in update UI event, and due to that all the panels and windows are refreshed. That seems strange to me and almost halts my application which has many custom drawn controls and screens. I wanted to know what could be the reason behind it, is it normal for MAC? Here is a self-constrained script which replicates the scenario using timers. It keeps on printing "on paint" every 500ms because in timer I set title every 500ms. import wx app = wx.PySimpleApp() frame = wx.Frame(None, title="BasePainter Test") painter = wx.Panel(frame) def onPaint(event): dc = wx.PaintDC(painter) print "onPaint" painter.Bind(wx.EVT_PAINT, onPaint) def loop(): frame.SetTitle(frame.GetTitle()) wx.CallLater(500, loop) loop() frame.Show(True) app.SetTopWindow(frame) app.MainLoop() My system details: >>> sys.version '2.5 (r25:51918, Sep 19 2006, 08:49:13) \n[GCC 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5341)]' >>> wx.VERSION (2, 8, 10, 1, '') >>> os.uname() ('Darwin', 'agyeys-mac-mini.local', '9.8.0', 'Darwin Kernel Version 9.8.0: Wed Jul 15 16:55:01 PDT 2009; root:xnu-1228.15.4~1/RELEASE_I386', 'i386')

• WPF binding fails with custom add and remove accessors for INotifyPropertyChanged.PropertyChanged

- by emddudley
I have a scenario which is causing strange behavior with WPF data binding and INotifyPropertyChanged. I want a private member of the data binding source to handle the INotifyPropertyChanged.PropertyChanged event. I get some exceptions which haven't helped me debug, even when I have "Enable .NET Framework source stepping" checked in Visual Studio's options: A first chance exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in mscorlib.dll A first chance exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in mscorlib.dll A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in PresentationCore.dll Here's the source code: XAML <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="TestApplication.MainWindow" DataContext="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}}" Height="100" Width="100"> <StackPanel> <CheckBox IsChecked="{Binding Path=CheckboxIsChecked}" Content="A" /> <CheckBox IsChecked="{Binding Path=CheckboxIsChecked}" Content="B" /> </StackPanel> </Window> Normal implementation works public partial class MainWindow : Window, INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public bool CheckboxIsChecked { get { return this.mCheckboxIsChecked; } set { this.mCheckboxIsChecked = value; PropertyChangedEventHandler handler = this.PropertyChanged; if (handler != null) handler(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("CheckboxIsChecked")); } } private bool mCheckboxIsChecked = false; public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); } } Desired implementation doesn't work public partial class MainWindow : Window, INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged { add { lock (this.mHandler) { this.mHandler.PropertyChanged += value; } } remove { lock (this.mHandler) { this.mHandler.PropertyChanged -= value; } } } public bool CheckboxIsChecked { get { return this.mHandler.CheckboxIsChecked; } set { this.mHandler.CheckboxIsChecked = value; } } private HandlesPropertyChangeEvents mHandler = new HandlesPropertyChangeEvents(); public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); } public class HandlesPropertyChangeEvents : INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public bool CheckboxIsChecked { get { return this.mCheckboxIsChecked; } set { this.mCheckboxIsChecked = value; PropertyChangedEventHandler handler = this.PropertyChanged; if (handler != null) handler(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("CheckboxIsChecked")); } } private bool mCheckboxIsChecked = false; } }

• WPF - How to properly reference a class from XAML

- by Andy T
OK, this is a super super noob question, one that I'm almost embarrassed to ask... I want to reference a class in my XAML file. It's a DataTemplateSelector for selecting the right edit template for a DataGrid column. Anyway, I've written the class into my code behind, added the local namespace to the top of top of the XAML, but when I try to reference the class from the XAML, it tells me the class does not exist in the local namespace. I must be missing something really really simple but I just can't understand it... Here's my code. XAML: <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:tk="http://schemas.microsoft.com/wpf/2008/toolkit" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:CustomFields" xmlns:col="clr-namespace:System.Collections;assembly=mscorlib" xmlns:sys="clr-namespace:System;assembly=mscorlib" x:Class="CustomFields.MainWindow" x:Name="Window" Title="Define Custom Fields" Width="425" Height="400" MinWidth="425" MinHeight="400"> <Window.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <local:RangeValuesEditTemplateSelector> blah blah blah... </local:RangeValuesEditTemplateSelector> </ResourceDictionary> </Window.Resources> C#: namespace CustomFields { /// /// Interaction logic for MainWindow.xaml /// public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { this.InitializeComponent(); // Insert code required on object creation below this point. } } public class RangeValuesEditTemplateSelector : DataTemplateSelector { public RangeValuesEditTemplateSelector(){ MessageBox.Show("hello"); } } } Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I thought this should be simple as 1-2-3... Thanks! AT

• Use a resource dictionary as theme in Silverlight

- by SaphuA
Hello, I have developed an application which allows the user to switch between themes. I'm doing this by including the xaml file as a resource in my project and using the following code: MainTheme.ThemeUri = new Uri("SilverlightApplication1;component/Themes/[ThemeName]/Theme.xaml", UriKind.Relative); This worked well, untill I found these themes: http://timheuer.com/blog/archive/2010/05/17/silverlight-4-tools-released-and-new-application-templates.aspx The difference is that these themes consist of multiple files. So I made a Theme.xaml file that only includes MergedDictionaries so I could still use the code above. This is the Theme.xaml file for the Cosmopolitan theme. <ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="CoreStyles.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="SDKStyles.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="Styles.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="ToolkitStyles.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> However, when I run the c# code above I get the following exception: System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException: Failed to assign to property 'System.Windows.ResourceDictionary.Source'. Just to be clear, using the MergedDictionaries method does work when I set it in my App.xaml: <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="Themes/Cosmopolitan/Theme.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

• Why wouldn't a flex remoteobject be able to work within a custom component?

- by Gary
Please enlighten this flex noob. I have a remoteobject within my main.mxml. I can call a function on the service from an init() function on my main.mxml, and my java debugger triggers a breakpoint. When I move the remoteobject declaration and function call into a custom component (that is declared within main.mxml), the remote function on java-side no longer gets called, no breakpoints triggered, no errors, silence. How could this be? No spelling errors, or anything like that. What can I do to figure it out? mxml code: < mx:RemoteObject id="myService" destination="remoteService" endpoint="$(Application.application.home}/messagebroker/amf" > < /mx:RemoteObject > function call is just 'myService.getlist();' when I move it to a custom component, I import mx.core.Application; so the compiler doesn't yell my child component: child.mxml <mx:Panel xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" creationComplete="init()" > <mx:Script> import mx.core.Application; public function init():void { helloWorld.sayHello(); } </mx:Script> <mx:RemoteObject id="helloWorld" destination="helloService" endpoint="$(Application.application.home}/messagebroker/amf" /> <mx:Label text="{helloWorld.sayHello.lastResult}" /> </mx:Panel> my main.mxml: <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" creationComplete="init()" xmlns:test="main.flex.*" > <mx:Script> [Bindable] public var home:String; [Bindable] public var uName:String; public function init():void { //passed in by wrapper html home = Application.application.parameters.appHome; uName = Application.application.parameters.uName; } </mx:Script> <test:child /> </mx:Application>

• Flex 3 - Scroll bar issue

- by Emma
Im currently learning Flex, and Im having the hardest time getting scroll bars to work. In short Im pretty much just making a giant form for users to fill out, contained within a viewstack component, the user will type up information in one view, and it will be displayed in the other. But right now in the first canvas i have components that run of the screen and flex doesnt seem to automate a scroll bar, so i added in 'verticalScrollPolicy="on"' to my canvas, now while it gives me a scroll bar, it gives me an empty scroll bar, I still cannot move it up or down, meaning components are still trapped off the bottom of my screen. Im I missing something amazingly simple? Edit - Sorry, Im using Adobe Flex Builder 3, and the components it lets you drag in. http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/218/problem1f.jpg This is a picture of the problem, and i guess relavent code would be. <mx:Application xmlns:mx="adobe.com/2006/mxml"; layout="absolute" width="830" height="835"> <mx:ViewStack x="10" y="72" id="viewstack1" width="790" height="751" > <mx:Canvas label="Design Mode" width="100%" height="100%" verticalScrollPolicy="on" horizontalScrollPolicy="on" > (Components inside) </mx:Canvas> Sorry if Im using this site wrong, still very new

• How to scrape Google SERP based on copyright year?

- by Michael Mao
Hi all: I know there must be ways to do this sort of things. I am not pro in RoR or Python, not even an expert in PHP. So my solution tends to be quite dumb: It uses a FireFox add-on called imarcos to scrape the target urls from Google SERP, and use PHP to store info into the database. At the very core of my workaround there lies a problem: How to specifically find target urls based on their copyright year? I mean, something like "copyright 1998-2006" in the footer is to be considered a target, but my search results are not 100% accurate. I used the following url to search : http://www.google.com.au/#hl=en&q=inurl:.com.au+intext:copyright+1995..2007+--2008+--2009&start=0&cad=b&fp=6a8119b094529f00 It reads : search for pages that have .com.au in URL and a copyright range from 1995 to 2007 exclude the year of 2008 or 2009. Starting position is 0, of course the offset can be changed. I've already done a dummy list and honestly I am not pleased with the result. That's mostly because I cannot find a way to restrict search terms in the exact order as they are entered into the search url. copyright can appear in anywhere on page and doesn't necessarily before the years, that's the current story. Is there a more clear way to sort out this? Oh, almost forgot to say the client doesn't wanna spent too much in this - I cannot persuade him simply buy some cool software, unfortunately. I hope there is a way to use clever Google search operators or similar things to go around this issue. Many thanks in advance!

• WPF: How do I get a reference to a styled window control in code behind?

- by Brad
I have a window defined with a style: <Window x:Class="winBorderless" x:Name="winBorderless" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:Local="clr-namespace:WindowStyle" Style="{StaticResource Window_Cartesia}" WindowStartupLocation="CenterScreen" BorderThickness="1" BorderBrush="#FF9CAAC1" Margin="5" Title="[Document Title]"> and the style defined in an application level dictionary: <Setter Property="WindowStyle" Value="None"/> <Setter Property="AllowsTransparency" Value="True"/> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/> <EventSetter Event="Loaded" Handler="Loaded"/> <EventSetter Event="PreviewKeyDown" Handler="Preview_KeyDown"/> <EventSetter Event="MouseMove" Handler="FullScreen_MouseMove"/> <Setter Property="Template"> In code behind I have a reference to the Window instance set: Win = DirectCast(sender, winBorderless) This allows access to the window properties as the EventSetters pass references to the various controls. However, it doesn't provide for access to the controls defined in the style through the window reference as they don't exist there. So, what is the best way to reference a control through code behind that is defined in the style. I'd prefer not to iterate the trees to find them but ya gotta do....

• BizTalk SMTP Message Part Getting XML Encoding

- by alram
I have a email multi-part message which I am using to send failed message routing from the messagebox to a business users mailbox. Email{ Body - RawString; OriginalMessage - string}; The original message gets set from the received message that activates the orchestration. For example assume the original failed message is from a Flat file that failed disassembly with the contents: Order,1,2,3,4,5,<6>, I set the message using: Email.OriginalMessage = MyUtil.XlangMsgToStringMethod(FailedMessage);// XmlDocument type, this can be malformed xml, valid xml, or flat file that fails in disassembler. I can then write to the event log to test whats in Email.OriginalMessage: System.Diagnostics.EventLog.WriteEntry("BizTalk Server 2006", Email.OriginalMessage, Information); // This displays the correct original message "Order, 1,2,3,4,5,<6," When the email is delivered using a SMTP server and a dynamic send port, with the attachment set to text/plain mime type, the original message gets xml encoding escaped and wrapped in xml: <string>Order, 1,2,3,4,5,<6>,</string> Any ideas why? The SMTP port has passthrutransmit as pipeline. Thanks.

• Missing WM_PAINT when hosting a WPF control inside a winforms application.

- by Boris
Hi All, Consider the following scenario: 1) Create a winforms application with an empty form. 2) Create a WPF usercontrol in the same project which is just the default control with background changed to blue. <UserControl x:Class="WindowsFormsApplication2.UserControl1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Height="300" Width="300" Background="Blue"> <Grid> </Grid> </UserControl> 3) Build the project 4) Add the control to your form (an ElementHost is added and the control is added inside it). 5) Run the application (everything looks nice) 6) Start Spy++, click find window (Control+F) and move the cursor onto the WPF control (the blue square) Something strange happens, the control gets a WM_ERASEBKGND message but no WM_PAINT message so now it is white. You can resize the form, hide the form behind other windows and the WPF control will not get rendered. There is an image of the scenario here: http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/2296/wmpaint.png This is a simplified example of the situation I have in the actual application. Please tell me what is the best way to resolve this issue such that the WPF control renders itself correctly. I would like a solution that can be incorporated into a large application with many controls on the form. Thank you very much in advance, Boris

• Binding to TreeView in WPF

- by KrisTrip
I am trying to bind some data from a class instance to a TreeView. My code is as follows: public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); Parent myClass = new Parent(); this.DataContext = myClass; } } public class Parent { public String Name; public List<string> Children = new List<string>(); private static int count = 0; public Parent() { this.Name = "Test"; for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { Children.Add(i.ToString()); } } } And the XAML: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:loc="clr-namespace:WpfApplication1" Title="MainWindow" Height="287" Width="525"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" VerticalAlignment="Stretch"> <TreeView Name="TreeView" ItemsSource="{Binding}"> <TreeView.ItemTemplate> <HierarchicalDataTemplate ItemsSource="{Binding Children}"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Name}"/> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> </TreeView.ItemTemplate> </TreeView> </StackPanel> </Window> Nothing shows up in my TreeView. What am I doing wrong?

• Why does my DataTemplate break the WPF designer?

- by PRINCESS FLUFF
Why does the DataTemplate line break the WPF designer in Visual Studio 2008? The program compiles and runs properly. The DataTemplate is applied as it should. However the entire DataTemplate block of code is underlined in red, and when I simply "build" the program without running, I get the error "Type reference cannot find public type named 'Character'" How come it can't find it in the designer yet the program applies the template properly? <UserControl x:Class="WPF_Tests.Tests.TwoCollecViews.TwoViews" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:DetailsPane="clr-namespace:WPF_Tests.Tests.DetailsPane" > <UserControl.Resources> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type DetailsPane:Character}"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Name}"></TextBlock> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </UserControl.Resources> <Grid> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Characters}" /> </Grid> </UserControl> EDIT: I am being told that this may be a bug in Visual Studio 2008, as it worked correctly in 2010. You can download the code here: http://www.mediafire.com/?z1myytvwm4n - The Test/TwoCollec xaml file's designer will break with this code.

• The Coolest Parts of Windows API

- by Andreas Rejbrand
I have noticed that there are quite a few community wikis about "Tips & Tricks" or "Hidden Features" in programming languages and APIs here at Stack Overflow. But I could not find any about my own personal favourites: Win32 API and Delphi. Therefore I start my "own" CW about Win32 API. There are (at least) two kinds of Win API users: those that have been brought up using Windows API in C/C++, and those that have been brought up using some level of abstraction above the Windows API. I belong to the latter category, being brought up using Delphi's VCL. But over the last five years, I have become increasingly interested in the underlaying API of the Windows operating system, and today I work a lot with it. Depending on which category a programmer belongs to, he (or possibly she) will think that different things are "cool" in the Windows API. For instance, whereas a VCL-brought up developer might think it it very cool to var errIcon: HICON; begin errIcon := LoadIcon(0, IDI_ERROR); DrawIcon(Canvas.Handle, 10, 10, errIcon), a programmer brought up using Windows API in C will not be as impressed. But no matter how you are "brought up": what are the coolest "tricks" in Windows API? I start by listing a few of my own favourites, some of which are more "cool" than "useful", though: LoadIcon and MessageBeep can load/play system default icons and sounds. Open the CD tray: mciSendString('Set cdaudio door open wait', nil, 0, 0); Fade out the screen (Windows Vista and later) and turn of the monitor: SendMessage(Application.Handle, WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_MONITORPOWER, 2); GetWindowDC(GetDesktopWindow) returns the DC of the desktop.

• WPF Browser is there, but invisible.

- by Adam Crossland
I am attempting to use the Browser control in a very simple WPF application, and it appears that while the browser is loading the page that I requested (I can mouseover images and see the ALT tags), I can't actually see anything else: Here is the XAML for the app: <Window x:Class="SmokeyBox2.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="SmokeyBox" Height="120" Width="510" ShowInTaskbar="False" SizeToContent="WidthAndHeight" WindowStyle="None" AllowsTransparency="True" MouseLeftButtonDown="Window_MouseLeftButtonDown"> <Border Background="#50FFFFFF" CornerRadius="5" BorderThickness="2,0,2,2" Padding="5 1 5 5"> <Grid> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"></RowDefinition> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"></RowDefinition> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"></RowDefinition> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"></ColumnDefinition> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"></ColumnDefinition> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <TextBox Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0" Name="searchText" Width="450" FontFamily="Arial" Foreground="DarkGray" Background="Transparent" FontSize="20" MouseLeftButtonDown="searchText_MouseLeftButtonDown" BorderBrush="Transparent" /> <Expander Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="1" Padding="2 3 0 0 " Expanded="Expander_Expanded" Collapsed="Expander_Collapsed" /> <WebBrowser Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="0" x:Name="browser" Visibility="Visible" Width="480" Height="480" Margin="2 2 2 2" ></WebBrowser> </Grid> </Border> </Window> So can anyone help me figure out why the browser isn't showing the Yahoo! home page like I asked it to? And while I am at it, I'm going to own up to the fact that this is my first WPF app, and I'd love to hear any general pointers on how to get rid of general noobie badness in my XAML. Thanks.

• How to apply styles to all windows in WPF app?

- by Brandon
I have the following App.xaml file: <Application x:Class="MiniDeviceConfig.App" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" StartupUri="MiniDeviceConfig.xaml"> <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="Button.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="CheckBox.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="ComboBox.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="Common.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="GroupBox.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="Label.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="LinkButton.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="ListBox.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="ListView.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="RadioButton.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="Tooltip.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="Window.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> In my application, my main window is MiniDeviceConfig.xaml (as seen above). In my Button.xaml file, I clearly set the button height to some obscene number. And, this size is reflected in my main window's buttons. However, some action on the main window triggers a modal window that has more buttons on it. I was expecting the same tall buttons but no such luck. How do I get the style to propagate into all windows in the application?

• Problem with IE and Jquery qTip plugin

- by user272899
I am having problems with the Jquery qtip plugin. It works fine in Firefox (see here http://movieo.no-ip.org/ hover over the first image). But doesn't work in IE. This is the code: $('.moviebox').each(function() { $(this).qtip({ content: $(this).children('.info'), show: 'mouseover', hide: 'mouseout', style: { name: 'light' }, position: { corner: { target: 'rightbottom', tooltip: 'bottomleft' } } }); }); And the html

Rising Sun (2006)
Description:
test test test test test test test test test test test test test test test test

Cast:
Sean connery

Rating:
5stars

Why wouldn't that work in IE????? Beats me. Checkout movieo.no-ip.org for the whole source

• Actionscript project that loads a Flex SWF, "Could not find resource bundle" Error when using Layout

- by Leeron
Hi guys. I'm using an actionsciprt only project (under FlashDevelop) to load an .swf flex file built by another department of the company I work for. Using the follwing code: var mLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var mRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest('flexSWF.swf'); mLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onCompleteHandler); mLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, onProgressHandler); mLoader.load(mRequest); That worked fine until I wanted to use Flex's mx.managers.LayoutManager. I've added the this line to my class: import mx.managers.ILayoutManagerClient; import mx.managers.LayoutManager; . . . private var _layoutManager:LayoutManager; And I get this run time error: Error: Could not find resource bundle messaging at mx.resources::ResourceBundle$/getResourceBundle()[C:\autobuild\3.5.0\frameworks\projects\framework\src\mx\resources\ResourceBundle.as:143] at mx.utils::Translator$cinit() at global$init() at mx.messaging.config::ServerConfig$cinit() at global$init() at _app_FlexInit$/init() at mx.managers::SystemManager/http://www.adobe.com/2006/flex/mx/internal::docFrameHandler()[C:\autobuild\3.5.0\frameworks\projects\framework\src\mx\managers\SystemManager.as:3217] at mx.managers::SystemManager/docFrameListener()[C:\autobuild\3.5.0\frameworks\projects\framework\src\mx\managers\SystemManager.as:3069] commenting the LayoutManager line, the swf works fine. But I do want to use LayoutManager. Any hints?

• Custom DataType in DataTemplate breaks WPF designer

• Expression Blend doesn't recognize comand objects declared in code behind file

- by Brian Ensink
I have a WPF UserControl. The code behind file declares some RoutedUICommand objects which are referenced in the XAML. The application builds and runs just fine. However Expression Blend 3 cannot load the XAML in the designer and gives errors like this one: The member "ResetCameraComand" is not recognized or accessible. The class and the member are both public. Building and rebuilding the project in Blend and restarting Blend hasn't helped. Any ideas what the problem is? Here are fragments of my XAML ... <UserControl x:Class="CAP.Visual.CameraAndLightingControl" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:CAP.Visual;assembly=VisualApp" Height="100" Width="700"> <UserControl.CommandBindings> <CommandBinding Command="local:CameraAndLightingControl.ResetCameraCommand" Executed="ResetCamera_Executed" CanExecute="ResetCamera_CanExecute"/> </UserControl.CommandBindings> .... ... and the code behind C# namespace CAP.Visual { public partial class CameraAndLightingControl : UserControl { public readonly static RoutedUICommand ResetCameraCommand; static CameraAndLightingControl() { ResetCameraCommand = new RoutedUICommand("Reset Camera", "ResetCamera", typeof(CameraAndLightingControl)); }
