  • Static variable for communication among like-typed objects

    - by Dan Ray
I have a method that asynchronously downloads images. If the images are related to an array of objects (a common use-case in the app I'm building), I want to cache them. The idea is, I pass in an index number (based on the indexPath.row of the table I'm making by way through), and I stash the image in a static NSMutableArray, keyed on the row of the table I'm dealing with. Thusly: @implementation ImageDownloader ... @synthesize cacheIndex; static NSMutableArray *imageCache; -(void)startDownloadWithImageView:(UIImageView *)imageView andImageURL:(NSURL *)url withCacheIndex:(NSInteger)index { self.theImageView = imageView; self.cacheIndex = index; NSLog(@"Called to download %@ for imageview %@", url, self.theImageView); if ([imageCache objectAtIndex:index]) { NSLog(@"We have this image cached--using that instead"); self.theImageView.image = [imageCache objectAtIndex:index]; return; } self.activeDownload = [NSMutableData data]; NSURLConnection *conn = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url] delegate:self]; self.imageConnection = conn; [conn release]; } //build up the incoming data in self.activeDownload with calls to didReceiveData... - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { NSLog(@"Finished downloading."); UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:self.activeDownload]; self.theImageView.image = image; NSLog(@"Caching %@ for %d", self.theImageView.image, self.cacheIndex); [imageCache insertObject:image atIndex:self.cacheIndex]; NSLog(@"Cache now has %d items", [imageCache count]); [image release]; } My index is getting through okay, I can see that by my NSLog output. But even after my insertObject: atIndex: call, [imageCache count] never leaves zero. This is my first foray into static variables, so I presume I'm doing something wrong. (The above code is heavily pruned to show only the main thing of what's going on, so bear that in mind as you look at it.)

  • Reading a Windows 'binary' float into a ASP jscript variable

    - by user89691
I need to read files produced by a legacy Windows app that stores real numbers (the 8-byte "double" type) in binary - i.e. as a packed array of 8 bytes. I can read the 8 byte group OK but how can I present it to my ASP JScript code such I can get the real number back again. Or to put it another way: Say a file was produced by a Windows (Delphi) program: Assign (f, 'test.bin') ; rewrite (f, 1) ; r := 1234.56E78 ; BlockWrite (f, r, SizeOf (Double)) ; Close (f) ; Inspection of the file will show it contains 8 bytes, being: 94 0E 4C CA C2 97 AD 53 which is the real number in IEEE format. Assuming I can read these 8 bytes back in ASP, is there a simple way of getting the real number back again?

  • JSF - managed bean in variable?

    - by Yurish
Hi! Weird question, but i need to find an answer. Is there any way, in which i can manage managed beans in JSP? I`ll try to explain, what i want to do: Imagine, i have JSP page, which, for example, is called document.save.jsp. I have some various documents with different types. Each of them have their own bean. For example: BillDocument.java, OrderDocument.java and ReportDocument.java. BillDocument.java in my jsp is #{billdoc}. OrderDocument.java - #{orddoc}. ReportDocument.java - #{repdoc}. Each of them have method save(). In my JSP i want to call this method, but i need to know, which document it is. In my mind this structure is something like: <% String currentBean = ""; if(document == BillDocument){ currentBean = #{billdoc}; } if(document == OrderDocument){ currentBean = #{orddoc}; } if(document = ReportDocument){ currentBean = #{repdoc}; } %> Then, my Button with save method on it, may be smth like: <h:commandButton action="currentbean.save"/> Is there any way, in which i can store data about bean, which will be used in this button? Thank`s for your replies!

  • Need variable width negative lookbehind replacement

    - by Technoh
I have looked at many questions here (and many more websites) and some provided hints but none gave me a definitive answer. I know regular expressions but I am far from being a guru. This particular question deals with regex in PHP. I need to locate words in a text that are not surrounded by a hyperlink of a given class. For example, I might have This <a href="blabblah" class="no_check">elephant</a> is green and this elephant is blue while this <a href="blahblah">elephant</a> is red. I would need to match against the second and third elephants but not the first (identified by test class "no_check"). Note that there could more attributes than just href and class within hyperlinks. I came up with ((?<!<a .*class="no_check".*>)\belephant\b) which works beautifully in regex test software but not in PHP. Any help is greatly appreciated. If you cannot provide a regular expression but can find some sort of PHP code logic that would circumvent the need for it, I would be equally grateful.

  • Static string variable in Objective C on iphone

    - by Prajakta
Hi, How to create & access static string in iPhone (objective c)? I declare static NSString *str = @"OldValue" in class A. If i assign some value to this in class B as str = @"NewValue". This value persists for all methods in class B. But if I access it in class C (after assignment in B) I am getting it as OldValue. Am I missing something? Should i use extern in other classes? Thanks & Regards, Yogini

  • where should we place HIDDEN variable in JSP

    - by micheal
I need to use Hidden variables in my JSP for session tracking. this is the code: <input type="hidden" name="REQ_TOKEN" value="<%=session.getAttribute("SESN_TOKEN").toString()%>" /> i am using this to compare the request token with session token, so only when both are equal i will evaluate that request otherwise i will throw an error. Now the problem is, when i place this code inside <form></form> tags, it is working fine. Unfortunately there are some JSPs in my application where we dont have tag(I know that sounds weird!). where can i place my code so that it will work? Cant i use Hidden variables without FORM tag???

  • Problem designing xsd schema - because of a variable element name

    - by ssaboum
    Hi everyone, i'm not the best at creating XSD schema as this is actually my first one, i would like to validate an xml that must look like this : <?xml version="1.0"?> <Data> <FIELD name='toto'> <META mono='false' dynamic='false'> <COLUMN1> <REFTABLE>table</REFTABLE> <REFCOLUMN>key_column</REFCOLUMN> <REFLABELCOLUMN>test_column</REFLABELCOLUMN> </COLUMN1> <COLUMN2> <REFTABLE>table</REFTABLE> <REFCOLUMN>key_column</REFCOLUMN> <REFLABELCOLUMN>test_column</REFLABELCOLUMN> </COLUMN2> </META> <VALUEs> <VALUE>...</VALUE> </VALUEs> </FIELD> My problem is that into the META block the tags "COLUMN1","COLUMN2" are always different, it may become COLUMNxxx. For now my schema is : <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <xsd:element name="Data"> <xsd:complexType> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:element name="FIELD" type="Field" /> </xsd:sequence> <xsd:attribute name="id" type="xsd:int" use="required" /> </xsd:complexType> </xsd:element> <xsd:complexType name="dataSourceDef"> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:element name="DSD_REFTABLE" type="xsd:string" /> <xsd:element name="DSD_REFCOLUMN" type="xsd:string" /> <xsd:element name="DSD_REFLABELCOLUMN" type="xsd:string" /> </xsd:sequence> </xsd:complexType> <xsd:complexType name="MetaTag"> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:any processContents="lax" /> </xsd:sequence> <xsd:attribute name="mono" type="xsd:string" use="required" /> <xsd:attribute name="dynamic" type="xsd:string" use="required"/> </xsd:complexType> <xsd:complexType name="Field"> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:element name="META" type="MetaTag" minOccurs="1" /> <xsd:element name="VALUEs"> <xsd:complexType> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:any processContents="lax" /> </xsd:sequence> </xsd:complexType> </xsd:element> </xsd:sequence> <xsd:attribute name="name" type="xsd:string" use="required"/> </xsd:complexType> </xsd:schema> And i just can't get it to work, i don't know how to handle the fact that a precise level of my nodes isn't clear, and the rest is. Would you help me please ? thx

  • Variable as numeric sent to stored procedure (SQL Server 2005)

    - by TimCarrett
I see that with SQL Server 2005 you can pass a parameter as numeric e.g. create procedure dbo.TestSP @Param1 numeric as But what does this equate to? E.g. Numeric(10,0), Numeric(9,2), etc? We have some Developers here who are using this instead of the correct definition for the field that this parameter is going to be used against e.g. instead of using Numeric(10, 0) for the parameter @Param1. Also are there any underlying performance issues with using Numeric instead of the data type defined against the field in the table? Many thanks.

  • How to use wildcards and variable substitution in activemq camel routes

    - by sicotron
I would like to set up a generic camel route that routes all messages to a set of queues to a queue with the same name and a suffix. I'm thinking it would look something like this: <camelContext id="camel" trace="false" xmlns="http://camel.apache.org/schema/spring"> <route id="genericRoute"> <from uri="activemq:queue:somequeues.*" /> <to uri="${getMyQueueName}.moo" /> </route> </camelContext> activemq talks about wildcards here: http://activemq.apache.org/wildcards.html but nothing more that I can find. This may not even be possible but would be very handy if it is! Thanks,

  • javascript ajax variable question..

    - by Kelso
Hey there, new to AJAX, JS.. Im trying to add to a Javascript/Ajax search script that I've put together. Previously, it had a single search field, called search_word, I added one called search_date. $(".search_button").click(function() { var search_word = $("#search_box").val(); var search_date = $("#datepicker").val(); var dataString = 'search_word='+ search_word; if(search_word=='') { } else { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "searchdata.php", data: dataString, In the Ajax, it appears to pass data of dataString, to my processing script. How do I add search date to the dataString so that I can use that var in my searchdata.php? In searchdata, I can do this $search_word=$_GET['search_word']; and use that var, but so far every time i attempt to alter the dataString, it breaks all the other functionality. Thanks!

  • SIGSEGV problem

    - by sickmate
I'm designing a protocol (in C) to implement the layered OSI network structure, using cnet (http://www.csse.uwa.edu.au/cnet/). I'm getting a SIGSEGV error at runtime, however cnet compiles my source code files itself (I can't compile it through gcc) so I can't easily use any debugging tools such as gdb to find the error. Here's the structures used, and the code in question: typedef struct { char *data; } DATA; typedef struct { CnetAddr src_addr; CnetAddr dest_addr; PACKET_TYPE type; DATA data; } Packet; typedef struct { int length; int checksum; Packet datagram; } Frame; static void keyboard(CnetEvent ev, CnetTimerID timer, CnetData data) { char line[80]; int length; length = sizeof(line); CHECK(CNET_read_keyboard((void *)line, (unsigned int *)&length)); // Reads input from keyboard if(length > 1) { /* not just a blank line */ printf("\tsending %d bytes - \"%s\"\n", length, line); application_downto_transport(1, line, &length); } } void application_downto_transport(int link, char *msg, int *length) { transport_downto_network(link, msg, length); } void transport_downto_network(int link, char *msg, int *length) { Packet *p; DATA *d; p = (Packet *)malloc(sizeof(Packet)); d = (DATA *)malloc(sizeof(DATA)); d->data = msg; p->data = *d; network_downto_datalink(link, (void *)p, length); } void network_downto_datalink(int link, Packet *p, int *length) { Frame *f; // Encapsulate datagram and checksum into a Frame. f = (Frame *)malloc(sizeof(Frame)); f->checksum = CNET_crc32((unsigned char *)(p->data).data, *length); // Generate 32-bit CRC for the data. f->datagram = *p; f->length = sizeof(f); //Pass Frame to the CNET physical layer to send Frame to the require link. CHECK(CNET_write_physical(link, (void *)f, (size_t *)f->length)); free(p->data); free(p); free(f); } I managed to find that the line: CHECK(CNET_write_physical(link, (void *)f, (size_t *)f-length)); is causing the segfault but I can't work out why. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Can't access dojo object property using string variable

    - by Kareem
I am retrieving a json associative array using a dojo xhrGet request. The data comes back just fine, however I need the app to be able to display the keys and their properties (or values) without knowing the keys beforehand. So, I do the following: function getData() { dojo.xhrGet( { url: "ytd_process.php", handleAs: "json", load: function(response) { for (var key in response) { dojo.byId("boxes").innerHTML+="<div id=\"box\">"+key+":"+response.key+"</div>"; } console.dir(response); // Dump it to the console } }); }; The keys are retrieved and displayed on the page, but the response.key returns undefined. I know the syntax is correct because if I replace .key with an actual key value it will display correctly. It appears it doesn't like a string as the key. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • should variable be released or not? iphone-sdk

    - by psebos
Hi, In the following piece of code (from a book) data is an NSDictionary *data; defined in the header (no property). In the viewDidLoad of the controller the following occurs: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSArray *keys = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"home", @"work", nil]; NSArray *homeDVDs = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"Thomas the Builder", nil]; NSArray *workDVDs = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"Intro to Blender", nil]; NSArray *values = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:homeDVDs, workDVDs, nil]; data = [[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjects:values forKeys:keys]; } Since I am really new to objective-c can someone explain to me why I do not have to retain the variables keys, homeDVDs,workDVDs and values prior exiting the function? I would expect prior the data allocation something like: [keys retain]; [homeDVDs retain]; [workDVDs retain]; [values retain]; or not? Does InitWithObjects copies (recursively) all objects into a new table? Assuming we did not have the last line (data allocation) should we release all the NSArrays prior exiting the function (or we could safely assumed that all NSArrays will be autoreleased since there is no alloc for each one?) Thanks!!!!

  • Javascript "this" variable confusion

    - by Assaf M
Hi I am currently reading the book "Javascript: The Good Parts" and was playing with Functions. I produced a test script to test some properties and I am somewhat confused by the results. Here is the code: <h3>Object</h3> <div style="padding-left: 10px;"> <script type="text/javascript"> function outterF() { document.writeln("outterF.this = " + this + "<br>"); function innerF() { document.writeln("innerF.this = " + this + "<br>"); return this; }; var inner = innerF(); return this; } document.writeln("<b>From Inside:</b><br>"); var outF = outterF(); var inF = outF.inner; document.writeln("<br>"); document.writeln("<b>From Outside:</b><br>"); document.writeln("outterF.this = " + outF + "<br>"); document.writeln("innerF.this = " + inF + "<br>"); </script> </div> Result is: Object From Inside: outterF.this = [object Window] innerF.this = [object Window] From Outside: outterF.this = [object Window] innerF.this = undefined Notice that outF.inner returns "undefined", is that some kind of a language bug? Obviously, outF.inner points to Window object that has nothing to do with my object but shouldn't it be at least pointing to a Function object instead? Thanks -Assaf

  • Increment global variable on click in flash, actionscript 3

    - by msandbot
    Hi, Making a flash page that can cycle through these three images on mouseclick. For some reason the local changes to count are not reflected on the global one. I tried _global but the syntax was odd and gave me errors. How should I implement this? import flash.events.Event; var images:Array = ["images/image.jpg", "images/image2.jpg", "images/image3.jpg"]; var count:int = 0; forward.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, loadPhoto); function loadPhoto(evt:Event){ if(count>2){ count==0; } trace(count); imageFrame.source = images[count]; count++; }

  • Include static file in JSP with variable filename on WebSphere 6

    - by cringe
I'm struggling with including a static file into my JSPs on Websphere 6.0.2.17. I tried this: <% final String MY_DIR = ResourceBundle.getBundle("mybundle").getString("props.pages.wcm"); %> <% final String page = ResourceBundle.getBundle("mybundle").getString("page"); %> <% final String inc = MY_DIR + "/" + bonus; %> <%@include file="<%= inc %>"%> The path is /wcm/some/other/dir/page and I can happily print that out with out.write(inc). Unfortunatly the include (and the jsp:include) isn't including the file at all. There is no error message, but the content isn't included... The file is accessible via the browser though. Do I have to create a full JSP for this to work? I just need a HTML file.

  • response.Text is undefined when returning variable

    - by George
Not sure if the problem is related to Ajax or something silly about JavaScript that I'm overlooking in general, but I have the following script where fox.html is just plain text that reads, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." : function loadXMLDoc() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.open("GET","fox.html",true); xmlhttp.send(); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { fox = xmlhttp.responseText; alert(fox); } } } onload = loadXMLDoc; The above script alerts the contents of fox.html onload just fine. However if I change the script so that: { fox = xmlhttp.responseText; alert(fox); } becomes: { fox = xmlhttp.responseText; return fox; } and alert(loadXMLDoc()); onload I get 'undefined'. I'm wondering why this is so.

  • Cocoa: Creating a Window with a Variable Number of Interface Elements

    - by Rui Pacheco
Hi, I've a window that will have an unknown amount of text fields, determined by the content of a remote server. In high level terms, how should I go about this? Create a custom view or create an empty window with a backing NSWindowController and then add stuff to it when the window is opened? I've seen the examples on the O'Reilly Cocoa book and those effectively create a custom NSView. Is this the right way to do it, 8 year later?

  • LINQ "table" variable

    - by Cat
I'm trying to turn a method I have right now into a more "generic" method that returns a string. Right now, the method uses a statement like this: var app = (from d in testContext.DAPPs where d.sserID == (Guid)user.ProviderUserKey select d).ToList(); I process the results of "app", add extra text etc. The piece that changes (that I need to make more "generic") is the table name (DAPPs). Is there a way I can do that, or, a better way to go around this all together?

  • Javascript for loop with variable

    - by Jascination
I'm doing some simple javascript learning at the moment and I'm stuck on how to solve this problem. (the basic form comes from Code Academy). The task is to create 3 rabbit objects, each with a different adjective as an attribute. Then, print describeMyself() for each rabbit. Instead of repeating myself 3 times, I'd like to find a way to solve the problem with a for loop to make it more streamlined/challenging for myself. Here's what I tried: function Rabbit(adjective) { this.adjective = adjective; this.describeMyself = function() { console.log("I am a " + this.adjective + " rabbit"); }; } var rabbit1 = new Rabbit(fluffy); var rabbit2 = new Rabbit(happy); var rabbit3 = new Rabbit(sleepy); for (i=1; i<=3; i++){ ("rabbit"+i).describeMyself(); } Obviously, the ("rabbit"+i).describeMyself() is wrong. I want the loop to create "rabbit1", "rabbit2" and "rabbit3". What's the proper syntax here?

  • Strange EListError occurance (when accessing variable-defined index)

    - by michal
Hi, I have a TList which stores some objects. Now I have a function which does some operations on that list: function SomeFunct(const AIndex: integer): IInterface begin if (AIndex > -1) and (AIndex < fMgr.Windows.Count ) then begin if (fMgr.Windows[AIndex] <> nil) then begin if not Supports(TForm(fMgr.Windows[AIndex]), IMyFormInterface, result) then result:= nil; end; end else result:= nil; end; now, what is really strange is that accessing fMgr.Windows with any proper index causes EListError... However if i hard-code it (in example, replace AIndex with value 0 or 1) it works fine. I tried debugging it, the function gets called twice, with arguments 0 and 1 (as supposed). while AIndex = 0, evaluating fMgr.Windows[AIndex] results in EListError at $someAddress, while evaluating fMgr.Windws[0] instead - returns proper results ... what is even more strange, even though there is an EListError, the function returns proper data ... and doesn't show anything. Just info on two EListError memory leaks on shutdown (using FastMM) any ideas what could be wrong?! Thanks in advance michal

  • python decorator to modify variable in current scope

    - by AlexH
Goal: Make a decorator which can modify the scope that it is used in. If it worked: class Blah(): # or perhaps class Blah(ParentClassWhichMakesThisPossible) def one(self): pass @decorated def two(self): pass Blah.decorated ["two"] Why? I essentially want to write classes which can maintain specific dictionaries of methods, so that I can retrieve lists of available methods of different types on a per class basis. errr..... I want to do this: class RuleClass(ParentClass): @rule def blah(self): pass @rule def kapow(self): pass def shazam(self): class OtherRuleClass(ParentClass): @rule def foo(self): pass def bar(self): pass RuleClass.rules.keys() ["blah", "kapow"] OtherRuleClass.rules.keys() ["foo"]

  • nSticky/static variable references in for loops

    - by pthulin
    In this example I create three buttons 'one' 'two' 'three'. When clicked I want them to alert their number: <html> <head> <script type="application/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="application/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var numbers = ['one', 'two', 'three']; for (i in numbers) { var nr = numbers[i]; var li = $('<li>' + nr + '</li>'); li.click(function() { var newVariable = String(nr); alert(i); // 2 alert(nr); // three alert(newVariable); // three alert(li.html()); // three }); $('ul').append(li); } }); </script> </head> <body> <ul> </ul> </body> </html> The problem is, when any of these are clicked, the last value of the loop's variables is used, i.e. alert box always says 'three'. In JavaScript, variables inside for-loops seem to be 'static' in the C language sense. Is there some way to create separate variables for each click function, i.e. not using the same reference? Thanks! Edit: The solution is to use jQuery.data to associate arbitrary data with each element: <html> <head> <script type="application/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="application/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var numbers = ['one', 'two', 'three']; for (i in numbers) { var nr = numbers[i]; var li = $('<li>' + nr + '</li>'); li.data('nr', nr); li.click(function() { alert($(this).data('nr')); }); $('ul').append(li); } }); </script> </head> <body> <ul> </ul> </body> </html>
