  Entity Framework with POCO Entities generated by T4 template. Added Function Import named it "procFindNumber" specified complex collection named it "NumberResult". • android.intent.action.SCREEN_ON doesn't work as a receiver intent filter

  I'm trying to get a BroadcastReceiver invoked when the screen is turned on. In my AndroidManifest.xml I have specified : <receiver android:name="IntentReceiver"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.SCREEN_ON"></action> </intent-filter> </receiver> However it seems the receiver is never invoked (breakpoints don't fire, log statements ignored). I've swapped out SCREEN_ON for BOOT_COMPLETED for a test, and this does get invoked. This is in a 1.6 (SDK level 4) project. A Google Code Search revealed this, I downloaded the project and synced it, converted it to work with latest tools, but it too is not able to intercept that event. http://www.google.com/codesearch/p?hl=en#_8L9bayv7qE/trunk/phxandroid-intent-query/AndroidManifest.xml&q=android.intent.action.SCREEN_ON Is this perhaps no longer supported? Previously I have been able to intercept this event successfully with a call to Context.registerReceiver() like so registerReceiver(new BroadcastReceiver() { @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { // ... } }, new IntentFilter(Intent.ACTION_SCREEN_ON)); However this was performed by a long-living Service. Following sage advice from CommonsWare I have elected to try to remove the long-living Service and use different techniques. But I still need to detect the screen off and on events.

• How do I pass a custom field to a hook (Invision Power Board [ipb] / PHP)

  A long shot but here's hoping someone has some experience coding PHP hooks for Invisions Power Board forum. I'm attempting to code a status addition and the PHP works fine on it's own, it's the passing of the IPB's reference to my hook that is the issue. I.E. You setup a custom field in your forum for MSN Username, then from within a skin / template hook you pass the custom field to the hook and then use your PHP code to check on the status. Here is the IPB skin code I am hooking into on Global-userInfoPane... <if test="authorcfields:|:$author['custom_fields'] != """> <foreach loop="customFieldsOuter:$author['custom_fields'] as $group => $data"> <foreach loop="customFields:$author['custom_fields'][ $group ] as $field"> <if test="$field != ''"> <li> {$field} </li> </if> </foreach> </foreach> </if> Although I could easily add my own skin hook here. i.e. <if test="myHookHere:|:1===1"></if> Literally all I need is a single custom field entry from here passed to my hook. If I query every member when the hook is run then that will result in many extra sql queries per page view. All I want to do is pass that specific custom field to the hook... i.e. myHookHere( $customfield['msn_username'] ) Is this possible? How do you reference the customfield? Can I execute pure PHP from here? Appreciate anyone that can help! I tried the official invision forums but not had much luck.

On the account, I have a "PlatformTypeId" field, which I need to condition on (multiple values), among other criterions. I'm using Lambda expressions, to build the query. • ActionScript/Flex ArrayCollection of Number objects to Java Collection<Long> using BlazeDS

  Hello, I am using Flex 3 and make a call through a RemoteObject to a Java 1.6 method and exposed with BlazeDS and Spring 2.5.5 Integration over a SecureAMFChannel. The ActionScript is as follows (this code is an example of the real thing which is on a separate dev network); import com.adobe.cairngorm.business.ServiceLocator; import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; import mx.rpc.remoting.RemoteObject; import mx.rpc.IResponder; public class MyClass implements IResponder { private var service:RemoteObject = ServiceLocator.getInstance().getRemoteOjbect("mySerivce"); public MyClass() { [ArrayElementType("Number")] private var myArray:ArrayCollection; var id1:Number = 1; var id2:Number = 2; var id3:Number = 3; myArray = new ArrayCollection([id1, id2, id3]); getData(myArray); } public function getData(myArrayParam:ArrayCollection):void { var token:AsyncToken = service.getData(myArrayParam); token.addResponder(this.responder); //Assume responder implementation method exists and works } } This will make a call, once created to the service Java class which is exposed through BlazeDS (assume the mechanics work because they do for all other calls not involving Collection parameters). My Java service class looks like this; public class MySerivce { public Collection<DataObjectPOJO> getData(Collection<Long> myArrayParam) { //The following line is never executed and throws an exception for (Long l : myArrayParam) { System.out.println(l); } } } The exception that is thrown is a ClassCastException saying that a java.lang.Integer cannot be cast to a java.lang.Long. I worked around this issue by looping through the collection using Object instead, checking to see if it is an Integer, cast it to one, then do a .longValue() on it then add it to a temp ArraList. Yuk. The big problem is my application is supposed to handle records in the billions from a DB and the id will overflow the 2.147 billion limit of an integer. I would love to have BlazeDS or the JavaAdapter in it, translate the ActionScript Number to a Long as specified in the method. I hate that even though I use the generic the underlying element type of the collection is an Integer. If this was straight Java, it wouldn't compile. Any ideas are appreciated. Solutions are even better! :)

• TCP RST Reset Every 5 Minutes on Windows 2003 sp2

  Hey, Recently I had a web developer come to me and ask why he was receiving connection errors in his app that was accessing a sql database. So, I went through my normal trouble shooting steps to isolate or reproduce the issue. I discovered that if I connected to the database using Query Analyzer and let the connection idle for 5 minutes it would disconnect. Meaning... I would no longer be able to refresh my tables or any other object/node within the object browser in Query Analyzer. I would have to right click on the instance and refresh for it to re-establish the connection. Next I went to wireshark and ran a capture on the client pc's nic card. Sure enough it was receiving a TCP RST reset every 5 min if the connection idled longer than 5 min. I also ran a capture on the SQL Server and noticed the TCP RST reset command as well. Attached below is the capture from the client Machine. If someone could please assist... That would be great. -I checked all settings within SQL Server 2000 against another server and they all seem to be the same. -Issue does not occur if I connect to any other SQL server 2000 server. -Issue does not occur if connecting to SQL on the server itself... so only over the network. -I consulted with network team and this is the response back: There are no firewalls or proxies in between SQL Server and your desktop. The traffic flows like this: Desktop-Access Switch-Distro Switch-Core Switch-Datacenter Switch-SQL Server None of the switches have security ACL’s configured on them. Also they stated that NAT was not turned on. -Issue does not occur with SQL server Enterprise Manager. -Ran SQL Profiler at the same time and did not see anything out of the ordinary during the RST I HAVE SEARCHED HIGH AND LOW ON GOOGLE FOR A RESOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE. I am trying to use html5lib to parse an html page in to something I can query with xpath. html5lib has close to zero documentation and I've spent too much time trying to figure this problem out. I'm starting both Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server Management Studio 2008 under domain admin user. This account is a member of group sysadmin on SQL Server. Server has firewall exceptions for both TCP and UDP on ports 135-139 and 1433-1434.   I have recently created a myopenid to log into stack overflow. This login works on stackoverflow.com but NOT on meta.stackoverflow.com. Why is this? This seems like it is a problem on (meta)stackoverflow's side rather than myopenid's side. When I attempt to login to meta.stackoverflow.com using myopenid login, I end up being redirected to a blank page with a very long query string. The url of the blank page is http://www.myopenid.com/server?... Secondly, my google login does not work. When I attempt to login to stackoverflow.com using my google login I end up seeing a blank page with a url beginning with http://stackoverflow.com/users/authenticate/?s... I am using Firefox 3.6.3 and I can successfully login to stackoverflow.com using myopenid but NOT with myopenid onto meta.stackoverflow.com and NOT with google onto stackoverflow.com. Please note that I would prefer to use my google login to login to stackoverflow. I only created myopenid account to get to the root of the problem. Stackoverflow should seriously consider giving users the option of having stackoverflow specific credentials because for me and I am sure countless others this openid thing don't work. (I know this should be posted in meta.stackoverflow.com but this requires a working openid, which I do not have).

  I'm playing around with WCF Data Services (ADO.NET Data Services). I have an entity framework model pointed at the AdventureWorks database. When I debug my svc file from within Visual Studio, it works great. I can say /awservice.svc/Customers and get back the ATOM feed I expect. If I publish the service (hosted in an ASP.NET web application) to IIS7, the same query string returns a 500 fault. The root svc page itself works as expected and successfully returns ATOM. The /Customers path fails. So, I added a primary key column to the table (schema as follows) and regenerated the code. But still the same error is coming. • Can't Deploy or Upload Large SSRS 2008 Report from VS or IE

  So far in this project I have two reports in VS2008/BIDS. The first one contains 1 tablix and is about 100k. The second one contains 3 tablixes (tablices?) and is about 257k. I can successfully deploy the smaller report from VS and I can upload it from the Report Manager in IE. I can view/run it from Report Manager and I can get to the Report Server (web service) URL from my browser just fine. Everything is done over HTTPS and there is nothing wrong with the certificates. With the larger report, the error I get in VS is "The operation has timed out" after about 100 seconds. The error when I upload from IE is "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send" after about 130 seconds. In the RSReportServer.config file I tried changing Authentication/EnableAuthPersistence from true to false and restarting the service, but still get the error. I have the key "SecureConnectionLevel" set to 2. Changing this to 0 and turning off SSL is not going to be an option. I added a registry key named "MaxRequestBytes" to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters and set it to 5242880 (5MB) and restarted the HTTP and SRS services as suggested in a forum post by Jin Chen of MSFT. I still cannot upload the larger report. This is on MS SQL 2008 and WS 2003. • How to populate a generic list of objects in C# from SQL database

  I am just learning ASP.NET c# and trying to incorporate best practices into my applications. Everything that I read says to layer my applications into DAL, BLL, UI, etc based on separation of concerns. Instead of passing datatables around, I am thinking about using custom objects so that I am loosely coupled to my data layer and can take advantage of intellisense in VS. I assume these objects would be considered DTOs? First, where do these objects reside in my layers? BLL, DAL, other? Second, when populating from SQL, should I loop through a data reader to populate the list or first fill a data table, then loop through the table to populate the list? I know you should close the database connection as soon as possible, but it seems like even more overhead to populate the data table and then loop through that for the list. Third, everything I see these days says use Linq2SQL. I am planning to learn Linq2SQL, but at this time I am working with a legacy database that doesn't have foreign keys setup and I do not have the ability to fix it atm. Also, I want to learn more about c# before I start getting into ORM solutions like nHibernate. At the same time I don't want to type out all the connection and SQL plumbing for every query. Is it ok to use the Enterprise DAAB for now?

  I'd like to use Joda's DateTime for query parameters in Jersey, but this isn't supported by Jersey out-of-the-box. I'm assuming that implementing an InjectableProvider is the proper way to add DateTime support. Can someone point me to a good implementation of an InjectableProvider for DateTime? Or is there an alternative approach worth recommending? (I'm aware I can convert from Date or String in my code, but this seems like a lesser solution). Thanks. • Need additional help with binding multiple CommandParameters using MultiBinding

  I need to have a command handler for a ToggleButton that can take multiple parameters, namely the IsChecked property of said ToggleButton, along with a constant value, which could be a string, byte, int... doesn't matter. I found this great question on SO and followed the answer's link and read up on MultiBinding and IMultiValueConverter. It went really smoothly until I had to write the MultiBinding, when I realized that I also need to pass a constant value and couldn't do something like <Binding Value="1" /> I then came across another similar question that Kent Boogaart answered, and then I started to think about ways that I could get around this. One possible way is to not use MVVM and simply add the Tag property to my ToggleButton, in which case my MultiBinding would look like this: <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource MyConverter}"> <MultiBinding.Bindings> <Binding Path="IsChecked" /> <Binding Path="Tag" /> </MultiBinding.Bindings> </MultiBinding> Kent had made a comment along the lines of, "if you're using MVVM you should be able to get around this issue". However, I'm not sure that's an option for me, even though I have adopted MVVM as my WPF pattern of necessity choice. The reason why I say this is that I have wayyyy more than one ToggleButton in the UserControl, and each of the ToggleButtons' Commands need to call the same function. But since they are ToggleButtons, I can't use the property bound to IsChecked in the ViewModel, because I don't know which one was last clicked. I suppose I could add another private property to keep track of this, but it seems a little silly. As far as the constant goes, I could probably get rid of this if I did the tracking idea, but not sure of any other way to get around it. Lets say I have LINQ like this... Dim Q = FROM p in DataContext.Parent _ Join c In DataContext.Child On c.ParentKey = p.ParentKey Consider this a "base query" on which I will perform other filtering actions. Now I want to join the Pet table like this: Q = Q.Join(DataContext.Pet, _ Function(a) a.c.ChildKey, _ Function(p As Pet) p.ChildKey, _ Function(a, p As Pet) p.ChildKey = a.c.ChildKey) The above Join call doesnt work. I sort of understand why it doesnt work, but hopefully it'll show you how I tried to accomplish this task. After all this was done I would have appended a Select to finish the job. Any ideas on a better way to do this? I tried it with the PredicateBuilder with little success. I might not know how to use it right but it felt like it wasnt gonna handle the joining.

• Write-only collections in MongoDB

  I'm currently using MongoDB to record application logs, and while I'm quite happy with both the performance and with being able to dump arbitrary structured data into log records, I'm troubled by the mutability of log records once stored. In a traditional database, I would structure the grants for my log tables such that the application user had INSERT and SELECT privileges, but not UPDATE or DELETE. Similarly, in CouchDB, I could write a update validator function that rejected all attempts to modify an existing document. However, I've been unable to find a way to restrict operations on a MongoDB database or collection beyond the three access levels (no access, read-only, "god mode") documented in the security topic on the MongoDB wiki. Has anyone else deployed MongoDB as a document store in a setting where immutability (or at least change tracking) for documents was a requirement? What tricks or techniques did you use to ensure that poorly-written or malicious application code could not modify or destroy existing log records? Do I need to wrap my MongoDB logging in a service layer that enforces the write-only policy, or can I use some combination of configuration, query hacking, and replication to ensure a consistent, audit-able record is maintained?

• Installable ISAM not found

  I have a requirement in which i upload excel sheets to sql server database. The business logic is executed and display as reports in php. It is working fine till yesterday. Today i tried to upload excel files. It is throwing an error message stating:- Translated version of it by me:- The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)" has not found "installable ISAM." . Return This is the original message in german:-- [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] OLE DB-Anbieter "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" für den Verbindungsserver "(null)" hat die Meldung "Installierbares ISAM nicht gefunden." zurückgeben. • Read multiple tables from dataset in Powershell

I am passing several Select statements, so the dataset contains multiple tables. I replaced $DataSet.Tables[0] with for ($i=0;$i -lt $DataSet.tables.count;$i++){ $Dataset.Tables[$i] } but the console only shows the content of the first table and blank lines for each records of what should be the second table. The only way to see the result is to change the code to $Dataset.Tables[$i] | out-string but I do not want strings, I want to have table objects to work with. When I assign what is returned by the Invoke-SQLCommand to a variable, I can see that I have an array of datarow objects but only from the first table. What happened to the second table? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

• dijit tree and focus node

  Hello, I cannot get focusNode() or expandNode() get working. I also tried switching back to dojo 1.32 and even 1.3, no difference to 1.4. And I debugged with firebug, the node is a valid tree node and no errors occur but the node wont get focused. • WiX 3: Using heat.exe to add bulk files to a new WiX project: HEAT5150

  If this is a repeat question, please direct me to the existing solution. I wasn't able to find a matching query. We currently use InstallShield. I'm attempting to covert a project with 407 files to a WiX3 installation package. I tried using heat.exe to do some of the automation but I get the following warning for almost every file: c: heat dir "c:\projectDir\projectA" -gg -ke -template:Product -out "c:\install\projectA\heatOutput" heat.exe: warning HEAT5150 : Could not harvest data from a file that was expected to be a SelfReg DLL: c:\projectDir\projectA\plugin1.dll. If this file does not support SelfReg you can ignore this warning. Otherwise, this error detail may be helpful to diagnose the failure: Unable to load file: c:\projectDir\projectA\plugin1.dll, error: 126. Q: Is it normal for this warning to be reported for every file? If there's a current "How To create/convert to your first WiX install project with many files" tutorial, please point me to it. The key requirement is "with many files". Thank-you -Karen Kwong- PS. I know that WiX is designed for incremental install project creation but it would be nice to know if there's an automated way to convert existing install projects.
