• Sum and average over null values SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services

  I have a simple problem, I think, but I have googled and can't find the solution. I have a cube that has MeasureA, MeasureB and MeasureC. Not all three measures have values for each record, sometimes they can be null, it's depending if it was applicable. Now for my totals, I need to average but the average must not take nulls into account. Any help will be much appreciated. When I view the measures, the null values show as zeros.

  I have strings like the ones below in a SQL column. I want to extract them as a Gigabyte amount in aggregate. Example: Original Column ---------> Expected Output from a TSQL function ------------------------------------------- $15 / 1GB 24m + Intern 120MB ----------> 1.12 GB $19.95 / 500MB + $49.95 / 9GB Blackberry -----> 9.5GB $174.95 Blackberry 24GB + $10 / 1GB Datapack ----> 25GB $79 / 6GB --> 6GB Null --> Null $20 Plan --> 0GB Note: for our purpose, 1000MB = 1 GB (not 1024). The pattern is numbers followed by GB/MB, usually they are combined like 1GB (without any space but may sometimes may contain a space, it is not particularly important if hard to implement for this exception). Sometimes there are up to three or four instances of GB/MB occurring in the same string which are usually separated by a + sign (see row 2 and 3 of my example above). I have seen how we extract the dollar values in one of the answers where numbers were followed by $ or extract all integers in a string but I don't want to extract the dollar values or all the integers in a string. I just want the sum of GB/MB in the string.

I have changed the settings in SMSS via Tools - Options - Query Results - SQL Server - Results to Grid, for XML data to be unlimited. Forever, it still seems to be truncating my XML results?   Hello. I'm having a little problem with configuring the firewall on my server. I only want a specific range of IPs to be able to access specific ports. For example, I'm having alot of password attempts to some of my servers, so I want to make it more safe by only allowing incoming connections from a specific range of domain. Example: My IP is usually adsl-324-4.somecompany.com so I want to allow *.somecpompany.com to connect, as my IP is dynamic. That would get rid of alot of attempts to hack into my servers. But I have no idea how to mask a domain like that for the firewall. How could I for example allow all incoming connections from *.is? Thanks.

  I am trying to troubleshoot an issue that is popping up on our new SQL Server. While viewing the running processes (sp_who2) I can't tell what parameters a proc was started with. I can find the name of the proc using: DBCC INPUTBUFFER (spid) I can even find some additional info, but I can't see a way to show the parameters.   What is the type that sql server assigns to the numeric literal: 2. , i.e. 2 followed by a dot? I was curious because: select convert(varchar(50), 2.) union all select convert(varchar(50), 2.0) returns: 2 2.0 which made me ask what's the difference between 2. and 2.0 type wise? Sql server seems to assign types to numeric literals depending on the number itself by finding the minimal storage type that can hold the number. A value of 1222333 is stored as int while 1152921504606846975 is stored as big int. thanks

• Personal Archive not Visible in Outlook

  I just added a second user to my Exchange 2010 box, it is in coexistence with exc2003. My account is already set up and working with a personal archive folder. The user I just set up however is unable to see the archive in Outlook. It is visible in OWA but not outlook. I have created a test profile on my PC with the users account and still no archive, if I jump back to my profile on the same box the archive is there so I know it is not an office versions issue. UPDATE: I have deleted all profiles from Outlook (one of which worked with the archive) now any new profiles including my own no longer show up. I think I have broken something In exchange. I get an auto discover certificate error which I am in the process of fixing. Perhaps the 2 problems are related. Also OWA on this server runs on a custom SSL port.

• How can I get Virtual Server 2005 R2 running on Windows Server 2008 R2?

  For various reasons (old VT-less hardware, and .vhd support) we need to still run Virtual Server 2005 R2. It's just for lab/demo work but we'd like to run the host on the newest Windows OS possible. It's documented and at least partially supported to run the old Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 on Windows Server 2008 (non-R2). I've done that before. I'm wondering if anyone has gotten the scenario in the title above to work.   We have a new Dell R710 server that came with the following storage configuration: 8 x 146GB SAS 10k 6Gbps disks 1 x Perc H700 Integrated Controller (2 x 4 disks - 2 ports each supporting 4 disks) What would be the optimal configuration if we were just after performance? What would be the optimal configuration if we were after performance but wanted data resilience. As per 2 above but with a hot standby disk? We plan to run Windows 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2. Maximising storage capacity isn't a prime concern.
