  • After deleting a local machines offline file cache, the same user's "my documents" no longer redirects to the network location.

    - by stead1984
One of my apprentices was tasked with clearing out unused local profiles and clearing the offline file cache. After he cleared the offline file cache and rebooted the machine, he would log in as himself and no longer have his "my documents" redirected to the set network location. More over this seemed to then affect ANY other networked machine he logged into, except his own laptop. All our standard workstations run Windows XP Service Pack 3, the apprentice's laptop runs Windows 7 Professional. I can understand how clearing the offline file cache after deleting old local profiles could cause this issue but draw a complete blank as to why it would affect all networked machines. It's a strange one so this question may be a little hard to understand so any questions or further understanding required please ask.

  • In ArrayBlockingQueue, why copy into ReentrantLock field into local final variable?

    - by mjlee
In ArrayBlockingQueue, any method that requires lock will get set 'final' local variable before calling 'lock()'. public boolean offer(E e) { if (e == null) throw new NullPointerException(); final ReentrantLock lock = this.lock; lock.lock(); try { if (count == items.length) return false; else { insert(e); return true; } } finally { lock.unlock(); } } Is there any reason to set a local variable 'lock' from 'this.lock' when field 'this.lock' is final also. Additionally, it also set local variable of E[] before acting on. private E extract() { final E[] items = this.items; E x = items[takeIndex]; items[takeIndex] = null; takeIndex = inc(takeIndex); --count; notFull.signal(); return x; } Is there any reason for copying to local final variable?

  • How to make RHEL have persistent local hdd name?

    - by Mxx
I have 2 identical Dell R720 servers running identical Oracle Enterprise Linux(RHEL)6.4. Both servers (supposedly) configured in exactly the same way. However, one of the servers is behaving differently. Every other reboot its local HDD name(and related partitions) flip from /dev/sda to /dev/sdj. This is problematic because both servers are configured for multipathd, and if this flip happens their config does not match and Oracle DB(or its clusterware) complains that nodes are not configured identically. Why does one server has a consistent device names while the other server keeps flipping back and forth? How can I make local hdd to consistently be /dev/sda? I suspect this might have something to do with udev but I'm not sure.

  • Creating New Scripts Dynamically in Lua

    - by bazola
Right now this is just a crazy idea that I had, but I was able to implement the code and get it working properly. I am not entirely sure of what the use cases would be just yet. What this code does is create a new Lua script file in the project directory. The ScriptWriter takes as arguments the file name, a table containing any arguments that the script should take when created, and a table containing any instance variables to create by default. My plan is to extend this code to create new functions based on inputs sent in during its creation as well. What makes this cool is that the new file is both generated and loaded dynamically on the fly. Theoretically you could get this code to generate and load any script imaginable. One use case I can think of is an AI that creates scripts to map out it's functions, and creates new scripts for new situations or environments. At this point, this is all theoretical, though. Here is the test code that is creating the new script and then immediately loading it and calling functions from it: function Card:doScriptWriterThing() local scriptName = "ScriptIAmMaking" local scripter = scriptWriter:new(scriptName, {"argumentName"}, {name = "'test'", one = 1}) scripter:makeFileForLoadedSettings() local loadedScript = require (scriptName) local scriptInstance = loadedScript:new("sayThis") print(scriptInstance:get_name()) --will print test print(scriptInstance:get_one()) -- will print 1 scriptInstance:set_one(10000) print(scriptInstance:get_one()) -- will print 10000 print(scriptInstance:get_argumentName()) -- will print sayThis scriptInstance:set_argumentName("saySomethingElse") print(scriptInstance:get_argumentName()) --will print saySomethingElse end Here is ScriptWriter.lua local ScriptWriter = {} local twoSpaceIndent = " " local equalsWithSpaces = " = " local newLine = "\n" --scriptNameToCreate must be a string --argumentsForNew and instanceVariablesToCreate must be tables and not nil function ScriptWriter:new(scriptNameToCreate, argumentsForNew, instanceVariablesToCreate) local instance = setmetatable({}, { __index = self }) instance.name = scriptNameToCreate instance.newArguments = argumentsForNew instance.instanceVariables = instanceVariablesToCreate instance.stringList = {} return instance end function ScriptWriter:makeFileForLoadedSettings() self:buildInstanceMetatable() self:buildInstanceCreationMethod() self:buildSettersAndGetters() self:buildReturn() self:writeStringsToFile() end --very first line of any script that will have instances function ScriptWriter:buildInstanceMetatable() table.insert(self.stringList, "local " .. self.name .. " = {}" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, newLine) end --every script made this way needs a new method to create its instances function ScriptWriter:buildInstanceCreationMethod() --new() function declaration table.insert(self.stringList, ("function " .. self.name .. ":new(")) self:buildNewArguments() table.insert(self.stringList, ")" .. newLine) --first line inside :new() function table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "local instance = setmetatable({}, { __index = self })" .. newLine) --add designated arguments inside :new() self:buildNewArgumentVariables() --create the instance variables with the loaded values for key, value in pairs(self.instanceVariables) do table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "instance." .. key .. equalsWithSpaces .. value .. newLine) end --close the :new() function table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "return instance" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, "end" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, newLine) end function ScriptWriter:buildNewArguments() --if there are arguments for :new(), add them for key, value in ipairs(self.newArguments) do table.insert(self.stringList, value) table.insert(self.stringList, ", ") end if next(self.newArguments) ~= nil then --makes sure the table is not empty first table.remove(self.stringList) --remove the very last element, which will be the extra ", " end end function ScriptWriter:buildNewArgumentVariables() --add the designated arguments to :new() for key, value in ipairs(self.newArguments) do table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "instance." .. value .. equalsWithSpaces .. value .. newLine) end end --the instance variables need separate code because their names have to be the key and not the argument name function ScriptWriter:buildSettersAndGetters() for key, value in ipairs(self.newArguments) do self:buildArgumentSetter(value) self:buildArgumentGetter(value) table.insert(self.stringList, newLine) end for key, value in pairs(self.instanceVariables) do self:buildInstanceVariableSetter(key, value) self:buildInstanceVariableGetter(key, value) table.insert(self.stringList, newLine) end end --code for arguments passed in function ScriptWriter:buildArgumentSetter(variable) table.insert(self.stringList, "function " .. self.name .. ":set_" .. variable .. "(newValue)" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "self." .. variable .. equalsWithSpaces .. "newValue" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, "end" .. newLine) end function ScriptWriter:buildArgumentGetter(variable) table.insert(self.stringList, "function " .. self.name .. ":get_" .. variable .. "()" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "return " .. "self." .. variable .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, "end" .. newLine) end --code for instance variable values passed in function ScriptWriter:buildInstanceVariableSetter(key, variable) table.insert(self.stringList, "function " .. self.name .. ":set_" .. key .. "(newValue)" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "self." .. key .. equalsWithSpaces .. "newValue" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, "end" .. newLine) end function ScriptWriter:buildInstanceVariableGetter(key, variable) table.insert(self.stringList, "function " .. self.name .. ":get_" .. key .. "()" .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, twoSpaceIndent .. "return " .. "self." .. key .. newLine) table.insert(self.stringList, "end" .. newLine) end --last line of any script that will have instances function ScriptWriter:buildReturn() table.insert(self.stringList, "return " .. self.name) end function ScriptWriter:writeStringsToFile() local fileName = (self.name .. ".lua") file = io.open(fileName, 'w') for key, value in ipairs(self.stringList) do file:write(value) end file:close() end return ScriptWriter And here is what the code provided will generate: local ScriptIAmMaking = {} function ScriptIAmMaking:new(argumentName) local instance = setmetatable({}, { __index = self }) instance.argumentName = argumentName instance.name = 'test' instance.one = 1 return instance end function ScriptIAmMaking:set_argumentName(newValue) self.argumentName = newValue end function ScriptIAmMaking:get_argumentName() return self.argumentName end function ScriptIAmMaking:set_name(newValue) self.name = newValue end function ScriptIAmMaking:get_name() return self.name end function ScriptIAmMaking:set_one(newValue) self.one = newValue end function ScriptIAmMaking:get_one() return self.one end return ScriptIAmMaking All of this is generated with these calls: local scripter = scriptWriter:new(scriptName, {"argumentName"}, {name = "'test'", one = 1}) scripter:makeFileForLoadedSettings() I am not sure if I am correct that this could be useful in certain situations. What I am looking for is feedback on the readability of the code, and following Lua best practices. I would also love to hear whether this approach is a valid one, and whether the way that I have done things will be extensible.

  • Sendmail Failing to Forward Locally Addressed Mail to Exchange Server

    - by DomainSoil
I've recently gained employment as a web developer with a small company. What they neglected to tell me upon hire was that I would be administrating the server along with my other daily duties. Now, truth be told, I'm not clueless when it comes to these things, but this is my first rodeo working with a rack server/console.. However, I'm confident that I will be able to work through any solutions you provide. Short Description: When a customer places an order via our (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) website, a copy of said order is supposed to be BCC'd to our sales manager. I say supposed because this was a working feature before the old administrator left. Long Description: Shortly after I started, we had a server crash which required a server restart. After restart, we noticed a few features on our site weren't working, but all those have been cleaned up except this one. I had to create an account on our server for root access. When a customer places an order, our sites software (Magento CE 1.8.1.0) is configured to BCC the customers order email to our sales manager. We use a Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server for our mail, which is hosted on a different machine (in-house) that I don't have access to ATM, but I'm sure I could if needed. As far as I can tell, all other external emails work.. Only INTERNAL email addresses fail to deliver. I know this because I've also tested my own internal address via our website. I set up an account with an internal email, made a test order, and never received the email. I changed my email for the account to an external GMail account, and received emails as expected. Let's dive into the logs and config's. For privacy/security reasons, names have been changed to the following: domain.com = Our Top Level Domain. email.local = Our Exchange Server. example.com = ANY other TLD. OLDadmin = Our previous Server Administrator. NEWadmin = Me. SALES@ = Our Sales Manager. Customer# = A Customer. Here's a list of the programs and config files used that hold relevant for this issue: Server: > [root@www ~]# cat /etc/centos-release CentOS release 6.3 (final) Sendmail: > [root@www ~]# sendmail -d0.1 -bt < /dev/null Version 8.14.4 ========SYSTEM IDENTITY (after readcf)======== (short domain name) $w = domain (canonical domain name) $j = domain.com (subdomain name) $m = com (node name) $k = www.domain.com > [root@www ~]# rpm -qa | grep -i sendmail sendmail-cf-8.14.4-8.e16.noarch sendmail-8.14-4-8.e16.x86_64 nslookup: > [root@www ~]# nslookup email.local Name: email.local Address: 192.168.1.50 hostname: > [root@www ~]# hostname www.domain.com /etc/mail/access: > [root@www ~]# vi /etc/mail/access Connect:localhost.localdomain RELAY Connect:localhost RELAY Connect:127.0.0.1 RELAY /etc/mail/domaintable: > [root@www ~]# vi /etc/mail/domaintable # /etc/mail/local-host-names: > [root@www ~]# vi /etc/mail/local-host-names # /etc/mail/mailertable: > [root@www ~]# vi /etc/mail/mailertable # /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: > [root@www ~]# vi /etc/mail/sendmail.cf ###################################################################### ##### ##### DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE! • Messenger Thinks My Ip is Invalid

    - by Umut Benzer
Hello. I am using Windows Live Messenger 2009 on Windows 7. I am using a 3G modem (ZTE Propietary USB Modem) I connect to the Internet using a software my ISP provided me. In last three days, my Messenger started to disconnect. Here is what I observed and tried to do: 1- I can browse web, can do FTP transfer etc. and obiviously have a valid IP. 2- I can sign in to Messenger (appear offline) but when I change my status to anything other then appear offline, Messenger says my connection to service has been lost. (However, it exists.) 3- When I run, MSN Connection Troubleshooter, it says my IP is invalid. When I click repair, it says repaired and just after that, I run the troubleshooter again, and it says my IP is invalid again. (However, it is valid and I am browsing the net.) 4- If I connect the Internet through eterhet or wireless there is no problem at all. 5- I re-installed Messenger (deleting all settings manually through registry and folders), re-installed all drivers and software related to USB 3G Modem. It doesn't work. And then, I took a full backup then formatted entire computer, installed a fresh windows 7, after 5 minutes, the same problem occured. What do you recommend? What can I do? Addition As seen on screenshot, it says Server IPv4 adress is 0.0.0.0 It seems like a problem, I don't know if it is. If it is, how can I solve it? Here is what I get, when I netstat. • What is the easiest way to have a local LAMP installation for web development on mac OS X ?

    - by pixeline
I'm new to mac os x. In the Windows XP world, there are packages available, like easyPHP, wampserver, uniformserver, that enable you to have a local webserver complete with php, mysql configured via an automatic installer. Really handy. I need the same on my new mac. I know mac os x comes with a local webserver. Is this already with php, mysql preinstalled? I'd like to have you guys advise on the easiest way to have this local lamp so that i can continue developing on this nice and shiny machine. thanks!

  • In Applescript, why do local variables in handlers capture "with" labeled parameters?

    - by outis
In Applescript, if you declare a handler using "with" labeled parameters, local variables get the values of the arguments and the parameters themselves are undefined. For example: on bam of thing with frst and scnd local eat_frst return {thing: thing, frst:frst, scnd:scnd} -- this line throws an error end bam bam of "bug-AWWK!" with frst without scnd results in an error message that "scnd" isn't defined in the second line of bam. thing and frst are both defined, getting the arguments passed in the call to bam. Why is this happening? Why is scnd undefined? Note: I know that declaring variables as "local" within a handler is unnecessary. It's done in the examples for illustrative purposes.

  • Safely convert UTC datetimes to local time (based on TZ) for calculations?

    - by James
Following from my last question which @Jon Skeet gave me a lot of help with (thanks again!) I am now wondering how I can safely work with date/times, stored as UTC, when they are converted back to Local Date/Time. As Jon indicated in my last question using DateTimeOffset represents an instant in time and there is no way to predict what the local time would be say a minute later. I need to be able to do calculations based on these date/times. So how can I assure when I pull the dates from the database, convert them to local date/time and do specific calculations on them they are going to be accurate?

  • How to handle User Authentication for program in client’s local machine?

    - by Daniel
Which user authentication scheme could be used at following scenario? 1.Application A developed by my company is installed at user's local computer. 2.Users login at my company's website. 3.If login is successful, access to the application A in user's local machine is granted. The development environment is .NET. Is there a secure way to authenticate the user to access the application? I've thought about encrypting the login information entered at the website, and then sending that information to the program at user's local machine for authentication. but I think as long as the client program has the decrypting ability, it is vulnerabe to decompiling, etc. Thanks in advance!

  • How can I link in both remote and local assets into a webview?

    - by Greg
I'm loading HTML-formatted content into my app from a web service, then plugging that into a local HTML template that lives within the app. Now, I need to set the UIWebView's BaseURL to point at the remote server so that all relative image links will load. However, I'm also trying to link in some local assets (CSS, JavaScript). Thus far, I have not found any documentation on how to link in local assets without relying on the UIWebView's baseURL. I've tried injecting the absolute file path of my CSS and JS into my HTML template, but it hasn't worked... I don't know if that means that it doesn't work, or if I'm just doing it wrong. Has anyone ever run into this scenario, and if so, how did you address it? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate any tips!

  • How to avoid that the robot gets trapped in local minimum?

    - by nesmoht
Hi, I have some time occupying myself with motion planning for robots, and have for some time wanted to explore the possibility of improving the opportunities as "potential field" method offers. My challenge is to avoid that the robot gets trapped in "local minimum" when using the "potential field" method. Instead of using a "random walk" approach to avoid that the robot gets trapped I have thought about whether it is possible to implement a variation of A* which could act as a sort of guide for precisely to avoid that the robot gets trapped in "local minimum". Is there some of the experiences of this kind, or can refer to literature, which avoids local minimum in a more effective way than the one used in the "random walk" approach.

  • How to address thread-safety of service data used for maintaining static local variables in C++?

    - by sharptooth
Consider the following scenario. We have a C++ function with a static local variable: void function() { static int variable = obtain(); //blahblablah } the function needs to be called from multiple threads concurrently, so we add a critical section to avoid concurrent access to the static local: void functionThreadSafe() { CriticalSectionLockClass lock( criticalSection ); static int variable = obtain(); //blahblablah } but will this be enough? I mean there's some magic that makes the variable being initialized no more than once. So there's some service data maintained by the runtime that indicates whether each static local has already been initialized. Will the critical section in the above code protect that service data as well? Is any extra protection required for this scenario?

  • Is there any way around the Chrome 5 breakage of Ajax for local files?

    - by nikow
The recent Chrome 5.0 release completely blocks XMLHTTPRequest requests for local files comming from a local file. Here is just one of the many related bug reports and here is the code change (there is also a SO question caused by this). This breaks a lot of production code, e.g. for documentation systems. Users must be able to browse local documentation without the need to install anything or run executables. My question is if there is any way around this restriction? I'm only interested in solutions that don't require any fancy actions on the users side (nothing beyond a confirmation dialog). Is there any way the HTML5 File API could be used, or maybe postMessage()? Of course this whole issue is very frustrating for many people. Firefox takes a fare more reasonable approach and allows requests inside the directory. So it seems unlikely that other browser vendors will follow Chrome.

  • log4bash: Cannot find a way to add MaxBackupIndex to this logger implementation

    I have been trying to modify this log4bash implementation but I cannot manage to make it work. Here's a sample: #!/bin/bash TRUE=1 FALSE=0 ############### Added for testing log4bash_LOG_ENABLED=$TRUE log4bash_rootLogger=$TRACE,f,s log4bash_appender_f=file log4bash_appender_f_dir=$(pwd) log4bash_appender_f_file=test.log log4bash_appender_f_roll_format=%Y%m log4bash_appender_f_roll=$TRUE log4bash_appender_f_maxBackupIndex=10 #################################### log4bash_abs(){ if [ "${1:0:1}" == "." ]; then builtin echo ${rootDir}/${1} else builtin echo ${1} fi } log4bash_check_app_dir(){ if [ "$log4bash_LOG_ENABLED" -eq $TRUE ]; then dir=$(log4bash_abs $1) if [ ! -d ${dir} ]; then #log a seperation line mkdir $dir fi fi } # Delete old log files # $1 Log directory # $2 Log filename # $3 Log filename suffix # $4 Max backup index log4bash_delete_old_files(){ ##### Added for testing builtin echo "Running log4bash_delete_old_files $@" &2 ##### if [ "$log4bash_LOG_ENABLED" -eq $TRUE ] && [ -n "$3" ] && [ "$4" -gt 0 ]; then local directory=$(log4bash_abs $1) local filename=$2 local maxBackupIndex=$4 local suffix=$(echo "${3}" | sed -re 's/[^.]/?/g') local logFileList=$(find "${directory}" -mindepth 1 -maxdepth 1 -name "${filename}${suffix}" -type f | xargs ls -1rt) local fileCnt=$(builtin echo -e "${logFileList}" | wc -l) local fileToDeleteCnt=$(($fileCnt-$maxBackupIndex)) local fileToDelete=($(builtin echo -e "${logFileList}" | head -n "${fileToDeleteCnt}" | sed ':a;N;$!ba;s/\n/ /g')) ##### Added for testing builtin echo "log4bash_delete_old_files About to start deletion ${fileToDelete[@]}" &2 ##### if [ ${fileToDeleteCnt} -gt 0 ]; then for f in "${fileToDelete[@]}"; do #### Added for testing builtin echo "Removing file ${f}" &2 #### builtin eval rm -f ${f} done fi fi } #Appender # $1 Log directory # $2 Log file # $3 Log file roll ? # $4 Appender Name log4bash_filename(){ builtin echo "Running log4bash_filename $@" &2 local format local filename log4bash_check_app_dir "${1}" if [ ${3} -eq 1 ];then local formatProp=${4}_roll_format format=${!formatProp} if [ -z ${format} ]; then format=$log4bash_appender_file_format fi local suffix=.`date "+${format}"` filename=${1}/${2}${suffix} # Old log files deletion local previousFilenameVar=int_${4}_file_previous local maxBackupIndexVar=${4}_maxBackupIndex if [ -n "${!maxBackupIndexVar}" ] && [ "${!previousFilenameVar}" != "${filename}" ]; then builtin eval export $previousFilenameVar=$filename log4bash_delete_old_files "${1}" "${2}" "${suffix}" "${!maxBackupIndexVar}" else builtin echo "log4bash_filename $previousFilenameVar = ${!previousFilenameVar}" fi else filename=${1}/${2} fi builtin echo $filename } ######################## Added for testing filename_caller(){ builtin echo "filename_caller Call $1" output=$(log4bash_abs $(log4bash_filename "${log4bash_appender_f_dir}" "${log4bash_appender_f_file}" "1" "log4bash_appender_f" )) builtin echo ${output} } #### Previous logs generation for i in {1101..1120}; do file="${log4bash_appender_f_file}.2012${i:2:3}" builtin echo "${file} $i" touch -m -t "2012${i}0000" ${log4bash_appender_f_dir}/$file done for i in {1..4}; do filename_caller $i done I expect log4bash_filename function to step into the following if only when the calculated log filename is different from the previous one: if [ -n "${!maxBackupIndexVar}" ] && [ "${!previousFilenameVar}" != "${filename}" ]; then For this scenario to apply, I'd need ${!previousFilenameVar} to be correctly set, but it's not the case, so log4bash_filename steps into this if all the time which is really not necessary... It looks like the issue is due to the following line not working properly: builtin eval export $previousFilenameVar=$filename I have a some theories to explain why: in the original code, functions are declared and exported as readonly which makes them unable to modify global variable. I removed readonly declarations in the above sample, but probleme persists. Function calls are performed in $() which should make them run into seperated shell instances so variable modified are not exported to the main shell But I cannot manage to find a workaround to this issue... Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

  • VPN iptables Forwarding: Net-to-net

    - by Mike Holler
I've tried to look elsewhere on this site but I couldn't find anything matching this problem. Right now I have an ipsec tunnel open between our local network and a remote network. Currently, the local box running Openswan ipsec with the tunnel open can ping the remote ipsec box and any of the other computers in the remote network. When logged into on of the remote computers, I can ping any box in our local network. That's what works, this is what doesn't: I can't ping any of the remote computers via a local machine that is not the ipsec box. Here's a diagram of our network: [local ipsec box] ----------\ \ [arbitrary local computer] --[local gateway/router] -- [internet] -- [remote ipsec box] -- [arbitrary remote computer] The local ipsec box and the arbitrary local computer have no direct contact, instead they communicate through the gateway/router. The router has been set up to forward requests from local computers for the remote subnet to the ipsec box. This works. The problem is the ipsec box doesn't forward anything. Whenever an arbitrary local computer pings something on the remote subnet, this is the response: [user@localhost ~]# ping 172.16.53.12 PING 172.16.53.12 (172.16.53.12) 56(84) bytes of data. From 10.31.14.16 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Prohibited From 10.31.14.16 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Prohibited From 10.31.14.16 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Prohibited Here's the traceroute: [root@localhost ~]# traceroute 172.16.53.12 traceroute to 172.16.53.12 (172.16.53.12), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets 1 router.address.net (10.31.14.1) 0.374 ms 0.566 ms 0.651 ms 2 10.31.14.16 (10.31.14.16) 2.068 ms 2.081 ms 2.100 ms 3 10.31.14.16 (10.31.14.16) 2.132 ms !X 2.272 ms !X 2.312 ms !X That's the IP for our ipsec box it's reaching, but it's not being forwarded. On the IPSec box I have enabled IP Forwarding in /etc/sysctl.conf net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1 And I have tried to set up IPTables to forward: *filter :INPUT ACCEPT [0:0] :FORWARD ACCEPT [0:0] :OUTPUT ACCEPT [759:71213] -A INPUT -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p icmp -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p tcp -m state --state NEW -m tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p tcp -m state --state NEW -m tcp --dport 25 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p udp -m state --state NEW -m udp --dport 500 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p udp -m state --state NEW -m udp --dport 4500 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -m policy --dir in --pol ipsec -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -p esp -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -j REJECT --reject-with icmp-host-prohibited -A FORWARD -s 10.31.14.0/24 -d 172.16.53.0/24 -j ACCEPT -A FORWARD -m policy --dir in --pol ipsec -j ACCEPT -A FORWARD -j REJECT --reject-with icmp-host-prohibited COMMIT Am I missing a rule in IPTables? Is there something I forgot? NOTE: All the machines are running CentOS 6.x Edit: Note 2: eth1 is the only network interface on the local ipsec box.

  • Ubuntu 12.04 LDAP SSL self-signed cert not accepted

    - by MaddHacker
I'm working with Ubuntu 12.04, using OpenLDAP server. I've followed the instructions on the Ubuntu help pages and can happily connect without security. To test my connection, I'm using ldapsearch the command looks like: ldapsearch -xv -H ldap://ldap.[my host].local -b dc=[my domain],dc=local -d8 -ZZ I've also used: ldapsearch -xv -H ldaps://ldap.[my host].local -b dc=[my domain],dc=local -d8 As far as I can tell, I've setup my certificate correctly, but no matter why I try, I can't seem to get ldapsearch to accept my self-signed certificate. So far, I've tried: Updating my /etc/ldap/ldap.conf file to look like: BASE dc=[my domain],dc=local URI ldaps://ldap.[my host].local TLS_CACERT /etc/ssl/certs/cacert.crt TLS_REQCERT allow Updating my /etc/ldap.conf file to look like: base dc=[my domain],dc=local uri ldapi:///ldap.[my host].local uri ldaps:///ldap.[my host].local ldap_version 3 ssl start_tls ssl on tls_checkpeer no TLS_REQCERT allow Updating my /etc/default/slapd to include: SLAPD_SERVICES="ldap:/// ldapi:/// ldaps:///" Several hours of Googling, most of which resulted in adding the TLS_REQCERT allow The exact error I'm seeing is: ldap_initialize( ldap://ldap.[my host].local ) request done: ld 0x20038710 msgid 1 TLS certificate verification: Error, self signed certificate in certificate chain TLS: can't connect. ldap_start_tls: Connect error (-11) additional info: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed After several hours of this, I was hoping someone else has seen this issue, and/or knows how to fix it. Please do let me know if I should add more information, or if you need further data.

Now, I moved those sites into my homeserver (Ubuntu, Local network) and made changes to hosts file + also in /private/etc/hosts is same. 192.168.0.50 mysite1.local 192.168.0.50 mysite2.local I flushed my dnscache sudo dscacheutil -flushcache rebooted machine, reseted safari but still no changes.. Still if I try to go either mysite1.local or mysite2.local it is pointing to localhost?!? What could be the problem?? OS is Snow Leopard 10.6.8
